“Love without freedom isn't love at all. It's just control. Our Father doesn't intend to control or manipulate us. He desires the closeness of a relationship governed by genuine interest, love, and free will.”
This observation from the book as well as many others made by the author, helped me to gain a new perspective on the process of waiting for, praying for and understanding the salvation of the lost.
June Chapman shares her honest struggles in way that is both relatable and encouraging. This book is for any follower of Christ experiencing waiting. This book addresses it all: lament, peace, joy, trust, pain.
June Chapman is an incredibly engaging author who writes about a difficult (and often glossed over) topic that I think will resonate with any Christian living in the modern world - what happens when you love or care about someone who doesn't know God. She offers a path in which you can find peace and comfort in the waiting, and she does so expertly with a sense of renewed hope and a trust in God. She is a phenomenal writer, able to intertwine her own personal experiences with lessons from scripture. I think her "Reflection Room" interspersed throughout the book is very well done, adding another layer of engagement to me as a reader and allowing me to use what was written to refocus my own experiences. Overall, a very, very phenomenal read and I recommend it highly. It is inspiring!!
Even though parts of this book were repetitive, the message as a whole was beautiful and timely. We can have peace while we wait for God. The waiting doesn’t have to be a time of darkness and despair, but a time of light and drawing closer to God.
The title of this book intrigued me. I felt I had to read it to find out how I can have peace when someone in my life does not know and love God. Reading though it I found myself reflecting on the personal stories, scripture, and on the reflection room boxes throughout the book. I was reminded that God is in control of hearts that don’t know Him. Others salvation is not up to me. I need to keep my heart tender as I pray for the lost. Chapman has given me hope and peace in the waiting.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. I was not required to post a favorable review. All opinions are my own.
