Peace in the Waiting: When You Love People Who Don’t Love God
Through compassionate guidance and encouragement, Peace in the Waiting helps us navigate the grief, confusion, and urgency we feel for our loved ones who don’t follow Jesus.
Author June Chapman vulnerably guides us toward less striving and more hope by including prayer prompts in every chapter and through weaving the heartfelt story of her own experience with a non- Christian friend.
Peace in the Waiting is a practical and empathetic guide for Christians struggling with grief over loved ones who have rejected or wandered away from Jesus.
Drawing on her own experience of longing for a close friend to meet and follow God, author June Chapman guides us through the steps of lamenting, trusting in God’s plan, and finding rest and refuge in His character. Peace in the Waiting compassionately
Peace in the Waiting calls us to take the focus off ourselves and trust in God’s promises so that we might have a renewed sense of hope for those we love the most.

I recommend this book to any and every believer who is praying for the lost. This book is very relatable and teaches believers to let go of their desire for control and instead take their pain, confusion, and frustration to God, finding peace and rest in Him as they trust in His will while waiting for the salvation of their loved ones.

“Love without freedom isn't love at all. It's just control. Our Father doesn't intend to control or manipulate us. He desires the closeness of a relationship governed by genuine interest, love, and free will.”
This observation from the book as well as many others made by the author, helped me to gain a new perspective on the process of waiting for, praying for and understanding the salvation of the lost.

June Chapman shares her honest struggles in way that is both relatable and encouraging. This book is for any follower of Christ experiencing waiting. This book addresses it all: lament, peace, joy, trust, pain.

June Chapman is an incredibly engaging author who writes about a difficult (and often glossed over) topic that I think will resonate with any Christian living in the modern world - what happens when you love or care about someone who doesn't know God. She offers a path in which you can find peace and comfort in the waiting, and she does so expertly with a sense of renewed hope and a trust in God. She is a phenomenal writer, able to intertwine her own personal experiences with lessons from scripture. I think her "Reflection Room" interspersed throughout the book is very well done, adding another layer of engagement to me as a reader and allowing me to use what was written to refocus my own experiences. Overall, a very, very phenomenal read and I recommend it highly. It is inspiring!!

Even though parts of this book were repetitive, the message as a whole was beautiful and timely. We can have peace while we wait for God. The waiting doesn’t have to be a time of darkness and despair, but a time of light and drawing closer to God.

Really good book! Lots of scripture and very relatable. I listened on audio books. Will be buying physical copy to read again.

The title of this book intrigued me. I felt I had to read it to find out how I can have peace when someone in my life does not know and love God. Reading though it I found myself reflecting on the personal stories, scripture, and on the reflection room boxes throughout the book. I was reminded that God is in control of hearts that don’t know Him. Others salvation is not up to me. I need to keep my heart tender as I pray for the lost. Chapman has given me hope and peace in the waiting.
