Caution Tape is an erotic horror novel co-written by Bestselling author Molly Doyle and J.D. Midnight, focusing on a game of cat and mouse that turns quickly into a bloody sex fest between two serial killers who meet by chance. Please note that this book contains extremely dark content that may not be suitable for all audiences. Reader discretion is advised.
CORA It’s exhausting pretending to be normal. Go to therapy. Hold down a job. Smile. So much smiling. All I can do is attempt to corral the burning rage that sits in my chest. It’s getting hard.
My mask is slipping. I’m slowly losing my grip. Reality is getting blurry. I’m yearning to lash out. To taste blood. For someone to see me for what I truly am. NOLAN I’ve kept myself in check. Built the perfect lie. A well-adjusted man with his entire life ahead of him. Allowed myself only daytime fantasies and night drives. It’s not enough. I’m too hungry. Then there’s her. Chipping away at my lie piece by piece. I see her. She has a darkness in her eyes that matches mine. I want her. I want her wrapped in plastic, squirming and begging me for mercy. My trophy. My toy. Mine. And so it begins. One game. Two mutual monsters.
Molly Doyle has been writing since she was in grade school, and has been a published author since she was sixteen. Once she moved her talents to an online platform, her writing took off. This dark romance/horror erotica was so much fun (in a horror kind of way). Both of the is completely insane, gory in parts, smutt and insane. Don't have much more to say but I read it so fast.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an E-ARC in exchange of my honest opinion!

MY THOUGHTS: HOLY F%$& WHAT DID I JUST READ (IN THE BEST WAY). MOLLY & JD MIDNIGHT HAVE OUTDONE THEMSELVES! TWO EQUALLY UNHINGED SERIAL KILLERS?!?! Book besties, you better prepare yourselves with this book cause ITS FUCKED UP, but if you're a dark romance girly like me, you're going to love it. Before reading, you need to look into the content and trigger warnings for this book. I loved the way that the authors wrote these characters, and they did an amazing job on writing their thoughts and thought process. Throughout the book, we see Nolan and Cora do unthinkable things as they not only try to scratch that itch in their brain that only satisfies with taking the lives of others but they start to feel again by being with each other but at the same time they know this can't last forever so they battle with where it should go. This book ends in a cliffhanger so be ready, cause I WAS NOT. The spice in this book? TOP TIER - it was filthy and disturbing, just the way I like it! MY JAW DROPPED WITH THE BONE PLAY. Absolutely can't wait to read the second book, cause I NEED MORE.
BUTCHER AND BLACKBIRD meets AMERICAN PSYCHO, this is a dark erotic horror story about two serial killers who meet by chance and decide to use one another to fulfill their darkest fantasies. As a reader, I'm afraid CAUTION TAPE was a little too dark for me. Some of the gory scenes actually made me feel queasy. They weren't badly done, but they were hard to read for the same reason that AMERICAN PSYCHO was difficult for me to read: it felt a little too much like being inside an actual serial killer's head. Which speaks to the quality of the writing honestly, so if you're into extreme horror, you're going to love this because as a psychology major, I was honestly impressed at how much thought was put into the characters' decisions/psychology. I'll be thinking about Cora and Nolan for a while.
Thank you Molly for the ARC I’m obsessed with you!!! I’ll read anything Molly writes but this blew me out of the water! I was not expecting this but that’s what I get for going in blind. Check TW this book, I’m not kidding! I loved Nolan a lot and I know he’s actually insane but idk something about him. I also loved Cora, that last scene was WOW
“Cora,” he says, grinning slightly, “we might be mutual monsters.”
Wtf was this book!! I was so freaked out at first that I seriously didn't know if I would keep reading but halfway through I was so invested I could not put my kindle down. This is a horror serial k!ller romance and it was every bit intense as I imagined, even more.
“I’ll be the first thing he sees. I’ll see the fear hit his eyes as he realizes what I am. What we are.” “What are we, Cora?” My hand curls around her pussy, working slowly back and forth in short, horizontal bursts. “We’re a nightmare.”
I'm still kind of speechless about this book, especially since it ends on a freaking cliffhanger. I didn't even realize this was a duet, now I'm going to be obsessing over the release date for the next book. It was absolutely crazy, completely unhinged book and it was incredible! Like, I seriously can't believe I enjoyed it but it was such a crazy experience, it's like a car wreck, you can't not look, it was just absolutely insane!!
“People say to watch out for red flags in dating, but I figure maybe we should be wrapped in—“ “Caution tape,” I finish. “Very clever, Cora.”
I had to digest this book a minute before writing the review, because at 1st glance it wasn’t my favorite dark horror BUT after sitting on it a minute I really did like it❣️ I think the reason for my initial reaction was because most extreme horror books I’ve been reading are small 100 pages or less whereas this one was the actual story all of it in detail…… It was a slower burn in the beginning but after about 1/4 of the way in things pick up and we get to really see the basis for this book with Nolan and Cora and how there “relationship” unfolds I have to admit the ending I figured was going to happen one way or the other but it was still interesting to see which way it went
Check your triggers because this is a book about serial killing and all that goes with that I like the back n forth duel pov between Nolan & Cora how they see themselves and others as well as how their relationship thoughts play out
It’s definitely a get on your TBR if horror is your genre or you want to give it a try
He’s a psychopath, in every sense of the word, yet he doesn’t scare me one bit. In a world full of pitch-black-nothingness, he makes me feel alive. Like I am capable of anything. Like the whole world is ours to own and to play with. Our own bloody playground.
Imagine you're driving a car down a stretch of empty road, but there's a brick stuck on the gas pedal. You're frantic, driving at top speed and climbing, not able to break or slow down and you're just zooming to god knows where with no reprieve.
That's what this book felt like.
It went balls to the walls crazy and I couldn't help read it with morbid fascination.
Nolan and Cora are two kindred souls...that is if you swap "souls" with "monsters" and you'll have a more accurate description. When the two meet, they recognize each other for what the other is. What ensues is lots of murder, blood play, fucking, and just serial-killing shenanigans. Add in some skin suits, knife play, threesomes, and Target runs and you get this horror erotica.
I was just going along for the ride for most of this book, it didn't really wow me. I do think it's written for the shock factor so make of that what you will. But that ending? BRAVO.
Now I wonder if any sequels are going to be written of one person looking for the other hehe.
Wow. I’m not sure what I initially expected from Caution Tape, but my mind is blown. This story not only had spicy spice and serial ki!lers, but extremely graphic göre. I had to take a lot of breaks to gather my stomach back 😅 I wasn’t expecting that at all, but I embraced it because not only was it written very well, but it’s part of Nolan and Cora’s journey.
If you’ve read Marrow by Trisha Wolfe and Brynne Weaver and think you might try this because it’s serial kil!ers falling in love, consider this like marrow but turn it up ten notches. This was, for me, on the same level as unhinged Cain and Twisted Abel in terms of g0re level, redeemability of the MCs, and spice: dark, h0rrific, graphic, but I think I’m turned on?
The authors are writing from inside the minds of two serial ki!lers, and they could not be more brilliant. Also, are they okay? I hope so. This is dark because there is no ascending into love; there is only a the sharp descent into fulfilling their basest desires - to kïl! and bathe in the blöôd of their victims (and maybe each other?).
If you have the stomach for this, you will definitely enjoy Caution Tape. The writing was amazing, the characters were entertaining, scary and oddly relatable, and I’m ready for the next part!
I can’t decide between 4 or 4.5 ⭐️. Cause like it was better than the average 4 but not quite a 4.5. Anyways I don’t know what I expected but it certainly wasn’t this. I mean yeah I knew the killing and torturing and serial killer twisted shit but like not to this extent. These two bitches were giggling GIGGLING while getting ready to kill somebody. I was picturing the hyena kinda laugh ngl 🤣. If I didn’t have a buddy read going on during the middle of this 20 bucks I would’ve probably finished it in one day. Cause like it was gross but I couldn’t put it down. Just make sure you have at least a semi strong stomach for this and for the love of god read the goddamn trigger warnings.
Oh my god, this was so bad. Took me five days, FIVE days to finish this book. I pretty much chose it because I thought it would be a quick and easy read with its 255 pages. But fuck I could not be any less interested. Jokes on me, took forever instead.
It wasn’t any of the crazy ass shit that was going on that made me think of this as a bad book. I’m all about the gore and spice. My struggle with this book was more due to the fact that the characters had no depth whatsoever. They both were so flat in their personalities. The only repetitive description was their urge to kill and that they didn’t feel “normal”.
The book started off so slow, so fucking slow. I was contemplating of dnf:ing this. The scenarios were very unlikely and careless. I’m just left here with so many questions. Feels like there’s gaps everywhere in the story. It started off at the slowest pace imaginable, peaked a little halfway through, then it sort of just ended like all the ideas and imagination ran out. It was uneventful. Not thrilling at all.
Everything Cora and Nolan did was just too easy, it went too smooth. Why did they stay at Michael’s place? Why did they drive around in his car? Don’t they know there are street cameras everywhere? They were sloppy as hell?
I love Molly’s books but this wasn’t well enough executed. Overall it just felt very rushed. The plot was questionable and it didn’t really head anywhere. It was rather unfortunate to be honest, because I won’t deny that it had at least some potential.
La historia no tuvo profundidad ni desarrollo. Nolan y Cora son simplemente dos personas destrozadas a las que les gusta follar duro y asesinar gente. El potencial está ahí, pero todo es insatisfactorio.
This is one of my top reads of the year. The character development (they were believable and oddly relatable given they’re serial killers), the plot, the spice—it was all on point.
I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m probably insane for enjoying this book a little too much, oh well!
I’m actually obsessed with Cora & Nolan, I support their rights but most of all I support their wrongs! They’re everything to me and I need the second book immediately, I don’t want to wait😪
• Nolan I love him and my man looked so good doing crazy shit! He’s so unapologetic about it too and that makes everything better. I loved reading his pov and how he views the world and the people, it was so interesting! He’s so complex and that what made him such a good and interesting character. I think that the author did a great job in writing him.
• Cora She became one of my favorite characters! I love her so much and I absolutely loved reading her pov as well! It was so interesting and she’s incredibly smart too! Her becoming more and more unhinged was everything to me. Her sense of humor was chefs kiss 🤌🏼 and her putting everyone in their place was iconic! She’s also a really complex character and she’s like Nolan a lot but I also love that she has her own thoughts and view on life and people.
• Cora & Nolan Im obsessed with them!!! Their relationship was toxic asf but i do not care! They served and devoured the whole book! Them teasing each other and them challenging each other made everything more interesting too. While I loved their deranged scenes I adored the little soft moments between them, it was cute asf🥹. I need more of them actually
• book in general IT WAS CRAZY BUT DO DAMN GOOD it was insane and so detailed, probably the most messed up book I’ve read and I fucking love it. I probably need to go to a mental hospital after this because I’m not okay especially after that ending.
I’m not sure how to fully put into words how this book made me feel. It was dark and twisted and gritty and dirty and UNHINGED and all the things you want from two serial killers falling in love. The inner thoughts and details in this book made me uncomfortable and I am LIVING for it! Nolan and Cora are made for each other and there is nothing you can say to change my mind! Nothing like 2 completely normal people finding love and bloodshed while learning how to become serial killers together? Oh, that’s not normal? My bad. Oh well! I think it’s beautiful and chaotic. Cue plot twist
This book was insanely INCREDIBLE!!! I received this as an ARC and I am incredibly thankful to the authors. This is a very dark erotic horror so CHECK TRIGGER WARNINGS! This is not for the faint of heart and it is not for those with a weak stomach on somethings so please put yourself and mental health first and skip this one if you need to. With that being said I am BLOWN AWAY! This is not like anything I have read before. No Spoilers I promise. Nolan and Cora are two people who are bored with the world that they never fit in and never found satisfaction in the mundane but the need to kill that could be the key to bring them back to life. Throughout the book we see them both do unthinkable things as they not only try to scratch that itch in their brain that only satisfies with taking the lives of others but they start to feel again by being with each other but at the same time they know this can't last forever so they battle with where it should go. The ending had me ready to throw something across the room, luckily there will be a second book. This was so disturbingly hot, the writing and details and the feeling of connect I felt to these characters was unreal and I loved every second of it! there are moments that have you questioning your own sanity and am I attracted to this? It was so well done I could ramble on for hours! Overall I'd give it a million out of 10 but I can't so 5 out of 5 it is.
I am NOT ok. Repeat, NOT OK! Molly girl what are you doing to us??? Please tell me that is your version of a cliffy!!! I'm begging you.
I absolutely love dark romance. This might have been a shade darker. I'm still here for it. It might also have been disturbing bc the MMC has the same name as my son. 🤦🤦🤦.
Check your trigger warnings this book is insane! You are in the heads of new born serial killers. Psychologically it’s a genius masterpiece. The spice is „Molly Doyle“ fantastic. But the killings were really disturbing and traumatizing.
I wished to read this book but I had no choice but to DNF it. I'm an animal lover and I just couldn't stand the idea of hurting animal just because they are serial killers. I would have enjoyed a serial killer book but killing animals is a big NO for me.
DNF BUT I think I'm not in the mood for it and it was a bit too heavy for my mind right now 🤣 Don't get me wrong... the spice scenes were impressive! I might come back to it one day. 🔪🩸
“What the actual fuck did I just read?” That was the first thing I said when I hit that last sentence on page 265. I have never read a book like this before. It’s actually scaring how much I liked it. This is about two serial killers and the depth it went to was actually terrifying. The details were painstaking terrifying. The writing was so mechanical, that lack of emotion in the thought processes and actions made it eerily frightening. And I honestly haven’t felt sick reading a book before and there was one part that did actually make me gag. The rest felt like a fever dream. Then the ending? Yeah, we aren’t gonna talk about that one right now. I honestly don’t know how to put it into word either.
check👏🏻the👏🏻trigger👏🏻warnings👏🏻 -lots and lots of blood & gory goodness in detail!
I fucking loved this. We have two psychopaths who have been itching to give into the need that runs through their veins; Nolan, our society mimicking king and Cora, our ‘I truly don’t give a fuck’ queen.
fav parts: -the way they set off the psycho in each other. -Michael’s usefulness lmfao -Nolan’s sweetness… and his not so sweetness 🥵 -the stress of waiting for the one to follow through with their plan (IYKYK.) -Cora’s growth in confidence! -the last death 😌
That ending thooooo, the next book is about to be wild!
The idea is good, two messed up people finding comfort in each other, but the execution is horrible. I felt like DFNing it a couple of times. The writing is quite simple, and the authors are obviously trying very very hard to make it as gory as possible.
90% of the book is sex and gore poorly written, it felt like it was written by a 13 year old that was addicted to bloody videogames and bad porn.
And the last 10% is a criminal cliffhanger, sadly it is not good enough to make me read the second part of the duet.
