Earthlings

Rate this book
Every 100,000 years or so, the Essences of the Earth convene in a Great Council. Often times this meeting is held to determine if the inhabiting species of the planet are worthy of the very air they breathe. The last time this council met, it resulted in an ice age. Once again, the Essences of the Earth are ticked off. And with a vote looming on the horizon, even the Great Council is not immune to the deceit and hidden agendas of politics. In a play to impose their will and swing the majority of the council, the Vines bring a small group of humans into the fray. A charter fishing boat marooned on the submerged island that houses the Great Council, proves to be the unpredictable variable in the formula. Now the only thing standing in the way of another "extinction event" is the political maneuvering and adventures of three children. In an attempt to save 7 billion people, two warring sisters and the bait boy from the fishing boat will need to defend and answer for the mistakes of the human race. In an effort to help bring the world of Earthlings to life, the author collected illustrations from 13 different artists. Ron Frenz (The Amazing Spider-Man), Robert Atkins (G.I. Joe), Terry Moore (Strangers in Paradise), Chris Yamber (Bart Simpson Comics) and more . . .

I received a free ebook in exchange for an honest review.

When I saw Author Frick Weber promoting a book trailer he made for his book Earthlings at the Goodreads Reviewers' Group, I decided to check it out for myself. I enjoyed it and reached out to him and asked to read and review of his book. He happily accepted and sent the book my way.

Ellie and Edison go overboard from the ship they were on with their families and crash land onto a submerged island that mysteriously rose out of the great lakes. When they find out that the human race is about to be made into extinction by the council of the Earth essences, the two new friends must outrun vine snakes, clay monsters, soil beasts, Ellie's evil possessed sister Vivian, and an evil little root man named Twig from decimating the human race. Will they succeed with Edison's newly acquired super powers of controlling water? Read this book for yourself and find out.

I enjoyed checking this story out. This was an action packed tale. As I was reading this, it reminded me of a graphic novel. The illustrations in this were awesome as well! Many talented comic book and graphic novel artists lent a hand at bringing Earthlings to life including Terry Moore, and many others. As you read this book and turn the pages, you can see the story come to life through the art the illustrators contributed to this and at the end of the book, the author tells which artist did which picture. This was my first ever ebook with illustrations in it and it was a joy to read. If you enjoy great art, action, adventure, stories of friendship and superheroes, then definitely check out Earthlings by Frick Weber. The book can be found on Amazon and wherever e-books and paperbacks of this are sold.

Great illustrations highlight a story that starts with a shipwreck and ends like a battle between Greek gods. Edison, Ellie, and Vivian begin as ordinary kids on a fishing cruise. But the essences of the earth are offended by man’s crimes against nature. They meet on a hidden island to judge the human race. The verdict will be either survival or extinction for all mankind. And then, a fishing boat and three kids blunder in...

I liked this story a lot. The plot and premise of the book are very original--not just another hero faces bad guy story. The main characters are great and I love, love the inclusion of the artwork. I'm giving this book four stars, instead of five, because of some grammatical errors I came across and some points where the narration was a bit wordy. All in all a really good book.
