wow, this was a really good book for me. the author has read 100's of books on parenting. i remember reading a TON of books on pregnancy and childbirth and babies/toddlers....but then stopped. my two oldest are entering in stages that once again are foreign to me (well, except that i was that age once)....this book answered a lot of my questions and got me in a proactive mindset again. personally, i won't go to the lengths that they did with some of the contracts and such, but i did get a lot of value out of this book. i bought it so i can really mark it up and use it again and again. the author had great book recommendations as well.

Unless you want to hear two parents catalog all the achievements they made while raising their children, this book offers little help except how great they managed their situations. The best chapter is chapter 7 about prayers for and with your children. The rest is all anecdotal and the limited data referenced is outdated or poorly sourced.

The book was written by parents of three boys much like ours. They shared very real and vulnerable examples of parenting and shared very practical tips on dealing with the situations. More importantly than the tips, they gave numerous examples of being completely dependent upon God and reaching out to Him for their provision. It is obvious that they work very hard to keep their eyes fixed on Him as the perfecter of their faith and that shows in their parenting approach.

I’m forever searching for that book that will tell me how to parent toddlers and preschoolers. This isn’t it. But it is a super-intentional outline of ways to parent your kids up through their teenage years.
