I Could Be Wrong, But I Doubt It: Why Jesus Is Your Greatest Hope on Earth and in Eternity

Rate this book
Publishers Weekly and ECPA Bestseller

Discover the completely unique qualifications and accomplishments of Jesus Christ--the Creator of everything, the King who will set you free, and the best friend you could ever have.

Over nearly five decades of walking with God, podcaster, author and Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson has learned a thing or two about why Jesus is the only one worth following. Of all the things we could put our trust in, only Jesus has the answers to our questions and the solutions for our problems.

Plenty of people claim to have the answers for a better life. Politicians claim they can fix our nation. Scientists and technologists trumpet the latest and greatest discoveries that'll make everything right. Self-help gurus offer one pathway to peace after another. But it's no secret that our world is increasingly divided and broken--and we've got the fear, anxiety, and hopelessness to prove it. Jesus alone can make good on the promise of lasting peace, real freedom, and life eternal.

With his trademark directness, humor, and insight, Phil will help you

experience Jesus as the Creator and all-powerful Sustainer of all creation;reconcile your own brokenness and sinfulness with Jesus’ unending well healing, forgiveness, and peace;develop the eyes to see Jesus for who he really the friend who will always be there for you, no matter what mistakes you've made; andlook to the Bible to get to know Jesus and better understand His grace and love for you.

Politics won't save you. Science can't give you the power to sidestep death. The pleasures and joys of this world are fleeting at best, damaging counterfeits at worst. But Phil has good news for Jesus offers life, joy, and peace, and he's never more than a prayer away.

Phil Alexander Robertson was an American professional hunter, businessman (Duck Commander company), and reality television star on the popular television series Duck Dynasty. He was also featured on the television show Duck Commander, a hunting program on the Outdoor Channel. He served as patriarch of the Duck Dynasty Robertson family.
He attended Louisiana Tech University, where he played football. He received a master's degree in education and spent several years teaching prior to founding Duck Commander, a hunting equipment company.
Robertson was the subject of controversy after a 2013 interview he did with GQ magazine, where he said that homosexual behavior was sinful. As a result, A&E suspended him from Duck Dynasty. Facing a strong backlash from his supporters, A&E lifted the suspension after nine days.
In September 2023, a biographical film on the early life of Robertson, The Blind, was released in theaters.

A lot of Phil's books are the same. Same message(albeit the MOST IMPORTANT ONE..Jesus Saves). Each chapter just kind of went over and over the same issues.

In this day and time, we all need hope. And Mr. Robertson gives us a look at that hope in his newest book. This is one to take your time and read and let it all sink in. Full of Scripture and sound advice this is a must read.

Loved this book. Ironically, his message and theology is spot on and better than so many other books written by preachers. Very well written and loved both the personal stories as well as the Scripture he referencing.

This is a great little book! Filled with truth, humor, and theology. My only real complaint is how I could hear his voice in my head the whole time I was reading! It is meant for more of a younger believer, but I still good and theologically on point.

I have enjoyed Phil’s take on religion since day one. I haven’t read any of his other books but purchased this signed copy for my husband. What I received from Phil’s words was remarkable. Although many of us have not transgressed in the way that Phil did, we ALL are sinners and that is what sat with me. I have never had an event, or gone off the tracks, as many who find Jesus do. I was brought to the Word when I met my husband. His grandfather spoke just like Phil. God works through many mere humans to learn about Him. It’s our job to deeply listen and determine if God is speaking to you. It’s not a comparison game. He either chooses you or He doesn’t. If He chose you, you must worship Him in spirit and in truth. I’m grateful He chose me. Now it’s my job to sing His praises and repent daily for not being perfect like He is. Thank you Jesus.

I think this is a wonderful book for people who are new to the Christian faith or are looking for that extra push to take the first steps. Phil Robertson shares his life experiences honestly, and you can see how God’s hand has shaped his journey over the years. His storytelling makes the message simple but powerful, and there are a lot of lessons here that anyone can take to heart.

The chapter that stood out to me most was Chapter 9: Jesus the Restorer of the Defeated. I think every Christian should read this chapter. Phil explains how Jesus does not just save us once and leave us, but how He restores us even after our lowest points. It is about hope for people who feel broken, lost, or like they have already failed too many times. He reminds us that God is not in the business of discarding the defeated, He is in the business of redeeming them. I thought that message was incredibly moving and a good reminder that no one is too far gone for Christ to restore.

Overall, this book shows exactly why the world needs God now more than ever. Phil uses his own story, including the highs, the failures, and the lessons, to point everything back to faith in Christ. It is a simple but powerful testimony that makes you stop and think about your own walk with God.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Rest in peace Phil🙏🏻

Phil Robertson writes his story and relates how the gospel of Jesus saved his soul. Phil Robertson was a hell-raising young man who did drugs, alcohol, and all the related activities that these substances bring. After years of this, Phil came to recognize that he was carrying a burden of guilt and regret. When he heard about the gospel good news about Jesus, Phil found that Jesus still loved him despite his sin, and that Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross was atonement for his sin. When he came to realize that his lifetime of sin could be forgiven, Phil jumped in with both feet.

Phil Robertson gives a step by step explanation of the gospel in his homey narrative that only he could write. Using events of his life, he explains how the person of Jesus and the forgiveness of Jesus transformed his life from one of helplessness to a life of hope and purpose.

I knew nothing about Phil Robertson before reading this book. Now I know he’s the real thing - a man transformed into a new life by the power of the gospel of Jesus.

I enjoyed Phil’s story, and I recommend it to those who are fed up with their sinful life and want a real and lasting change. Phil Robertson explains how that change begins in his easy-reading narrative.

People who don't know Phil Robertson beyond his Duck Dynasty connection might dismiss his books. Most don't know that he has a masters degree in English Education, so you won't find him writing at. level just above swamp water. He is articulate but not in any way pretentious. He loves to tell stories, which provides a natural appeal, but his writing is not about him at all, except to point out how even a sinner as vile as himself can find salvation in Jesus Christ. This is a very well rounded discussion about exactly who Jesus is and how the most important decision one makes in life is whether to have a personal relationship with Jesus or not.

I loved this book! I listened to it while hiking and was such a gift. Phil Robertson (the patriarch of the Duck Dynasty family) writes about his redemption story and how he has come to know Jesus throughout his lifetime. It was so interesting to me, and I was continually impressed by both his humility and honesty.
Each chapter focuses on a different attribute or characteristic of Jesus. Such great insights.

This reader finds all of his writing to be honest, true and factual, always backed up and supported with Scripture. Including his personal stories enhances his book. I am such a fan of this author who writes from his heart. Thank you Phil Robertson. Keep writing and your readers will keep reading.

When I saw this book at the book store, I knew I wanted to read it. I’ve read one of Phil’s other books he has written as well as a few from the other men from the Robertson family. So I knew right away that this book would At minimum be a decent read.
I really enjoyed this book and it exceeded my expectation.
Phil has an amazing story, but what really shines through in this book is his faith. You can feel Phil’s faith and love for Jesus.
I’m glad I picked this one up

Great book! I felt I was listening in to one of Phil’s talks. He explained it all really well. He told us we need Jesus. He even explained how he was a sinner and what he’s done and how Jesus has changed him over time and how for the last 50 years has lead a life following Christ and how he hasn’t turned his back to his old habits. I find Phil as a really godly man and one someone who should listen to. He’s been through it. He knows he needs a savior because he’s a sinner and not perfect. We all need a savior, we can’t save ourselves.

Phil Robertson was a man who went from broken to fully healed. This man inspired me so much to look into myself and find truth. This book touches the heart of what's going on in family in our country and in spiritual warfare. A must read for anyone who loved him and wants to know more about family life and God

Funny and straight to the point.

Nothing flowery and fluffy
I always say I love Baby Christians because they see Chris they way he should be seen. With all all the fluff people tend to put on Jesus.

My husband and I listened to the audiobook on a road trip. Although we were disappointed Phil wasn't the narrator, the guy that was didn't do a bad job. The book was entertaining and full of wisdom. I’ll likely buy a few copies for gifts.

Overall good book, just repetitive of the same message over and over. Good thing is that the repeated message is the Good News of how Jesus saves. Aside from the repetitiveness, the book provides a Phil Robertson articulation of the gospel that is uniquely written using truth, evidence, and wit.

I have a lot of respect for Phil. He openly talks about the low points of his life and his resistance to change his life. It is a wonderful journey to follow along with him. A book of spiritual guidance for sure. God bless the Robertson family and their values.

This is Phil’s case for Christ book sprinkled with some of his life stories. I didn’t the audiobook and I was disappointed that it wasn’t read by him. He did a great job backing up with scripture and sharing that Christianity is about a church but the relationship with Jesus.

The simple way Phil communicates will be dearly missed, but I see this book as such a great example of the gospel. It’s a simple man telling the story of how God condescended as a simple man from Galilee named Jesus and how Jesus changed Phil’s life. Will you let Him change yours?

Beautiful. Simply beautiful. Complex yet easy to read and understand. Conversational in tone; like sitting down with a friend. Blunt, but kind. Honest, compelling, real. I will be looking for a copy to add to my personal collection for sure.

Inspirational

I find the Duck Commander story very interesting. More importantly, Phil has never hidden any portion of his life, and has remained true to God in a time when being a Christian is scrutinized. I find the book to be inspiring and thought provoking.
