Feelings can be treacherously illogical and relationships inexplicable . . . From the day Rabbie falls in love with her first boyfriend, it seems that anything can happen, any friend can turn on another, any event can be triggered by something apparently meaningless. But as Rabbie, the endearing, self-confessed 'cheater-holic' finds, it is almost impossible to stop going round in circles with those she dates . . . and living in a close-knit community doesn't help. Though Rabbie's world eventually expands beyond her home and boarding school in Ghana as she travels to the U.K. and America, there are parts of her past that she cannot let go of, people who matter too much. The mind may move on, as she finds independence in adulthood, aspires to and reaches goals in her career, and finds the strength to deal with what life throws at her-even life-threatening crises-but the heart does not. These are the Circles of Rabbie's life-sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes comical, and familiar to so many of us.

I struggled to finish this book. But kept at it partly out of a loyalty to a novice Ghanaian writer [I do feel that I should support Ghanaian writers who are starting out on their published careers[. I guess part of it is that I don't like chick lit much, though I can manage it if I have to. Enough said.
