A fabulous twin-swap lesbian romance where the toaster oven could double as a wedding gift.

Accountant Allie Lane would do anything for her injured twin sister, including pretend to be her to save Sophie’s fledgling event-planning business. All Allie has to do is fake being a lesbian for a few weeks and co-ordinate a rural gay wedding festival. Simple. Except she’s nothing like her outgoing sister and, last Allie checked, she was straight.

Tarryn Harris cannot stand weddings. Now her small Australian town of Quandong is being overrun by matrimonial madness for its first gay wedding festival. The other hitch is she’s been roped into being the assistant to the cute lesbian event planner. Frankly, she’d rather be left alone with her alpacas and metal art.

The finale of the festival is a fake wedding. Surely no one will vote for a wedding hater and an undercover straight woman to play the fake couple? Right?

A badly injured event planner cannot complete her duties for a festival aimed at bringing tourists to a small town. She recruits her twin sister to stand in for her. One sister is lesbian the other "straight". We meet Allie the replacement and in turn her festival assistant Tarryn. The lead characters are set. Some eye flirting, yes and no, straight or bi, marriage phobia and more.
For the first time I was stumped when reading one of Blue's books - I couldn't fully get into the storyline, characters and plot. Just my humble opinion, however, I'm sure other readers will find this book enjoyable.

What a wonderful and funny romance with many charming characters (including the two adorable Alpacas Alli and Elli), and as always, Cheyenne Blue wrapped everything up in a joyful and entertaining story. Sophie is bedridden due to an accident she didn't cause and can't do the biggest job of her event company herself. I mean, what could possibly go wrong when lesbian Sophie persuades her supposedly straight twin sister Allie to coordinate the Gay Bells Wedding Festival in Quandong in the Byron Bay backcountry for her? Allie, who recently lost her accountant job, has no idea about event organization, and the last time she checked she was still straight, but she'd do anything for her sister.

Tarryn can't get on board with all the wedding hoopla her beloved Quandong has fallen for. She would love to just create her metal artwork and take care of her alpacas. But her aunt Phyll has ordered her to work as Allie's assistant - the only advantage of that is that at least she's getting paid for her agony of soul.

I love Cheyenne Blue's wonderfully colorful and entertaining stories, mostly set in rural towns in Australia. POV is alternately of Tarryn and Allie. Both are endearing and despite opposing views, they fit together better than they themselves think. But despite all the fun, the story also touches on more serious issues, such as the difficulties for a business owner of not being able to work for a long time after an accident. Or Allie's remorse for pretending to be someone she is not to the festival organizers, and more.

Diversity is written large and so we meet a motley crew of people of all kinds, skin color, and sexual identity. With the fact that the romantic, fake-gay (or not so fake?) Allie meets the wedding hater Tarryn, good entertainment, funny situations, and spicy scenes are pre-programmed - and who knows what a fake wedding kiss, which of course you have to practice, can have for effects. But of course, not everything goes as smoothly as they want to.

Recommended, a story that made me smile a lot.

This is a story about Allie Lane who has an identical twin sister Sophie. Sophie has a catering business and has secured a very good contract to promote a gay wedding festival in Quandong Australia. Sophie was in a car accident and is seriously injured and begs Allie to take on the contract in her place. Allie agrees to do it because she’s been recently fired from her job and she wants to help out her sister.

Tarryn Harris lives in Quandong as a sculptor and does odd jobs to make ends meet. Tarryn is assigned as Allies assistant.

This was a very fun book with quirky side characters that Blue writes so well. There is a faux wedding that was also very entertaining. I enjoyed this book and fans of Cheyenne Blue will too.

Twin swap is always a trope that I appreciate : pretending your are someone your are not, the guilt when you get close to someone, the fear to say the wrong thing. It's a guarantee that a lot of things will happen and some tension. It was the case here. And Blue didn't pick the easy path here, by making the fake twin straight, adding some inner questioning. The book has good pace : you read it really easily and smoothly. You can almost feel the good atmosphere of the festival.
I felt the attraction between Allie and Tarryn, but sadly I didn't feel their connection. I couldn't see why they fell for each other. It's like they woke up having feelings for one another. And I also had trouble really finding Tarryn endearing : she is a hard worker, she stand for what she believes in, but I like when characters have a touch of vulnerability that I couldn't find in her.
For these reasons, I didn't personally connect to the book but I think it's an enjoyable low angst light read.

When her twin sister Sophie is badly injured in an accident, Allie agrees to take over an important event for her. A gay wedding festival, posing as Sophie. Sophie got the gig partly because she herself is a lesbian. Allie however is "straight ".
Then she meets her assistant Tarryn, a gorgeous butch. But Tarryn doesn't believe in marriage, she's only doing this for the money. This is a fascinating twin sister swap/slow burn romance. I really enjoyed this book! 5 stars!

This is a cute twin swap, fake wedding novel that includes two adorable alpacas. The description interested me as I was intrigued to see how the twin swap would pan out and enjoyed the way it was done. There wasn’t too much angst but just enough for the storyline. All of the supporting characters were also great and added to the story.

Cheyene Blue is on a roll. Each book she releases gets better and better. I lost a lot of sleep because of I Do. I suffered through the whole ‘one more chapter’ recital several nights in a row. And then it wrapped up, and I was sorry I hadn’t taken my time.

I Do is a small town, city girl/country girl opposite attracts story that has Allie pretending to be her twin sister to save her event-planning business. Ally, determined not to fail, gives it her all, and in helping this small community in coordinating a gay wedding festival, she meets new friends and falls for her assistant.

Tarryn hates the entire concept of a wedding, but the paycheck being assistant to Allie will bring in is too much to pass up. Plus, she loves her small town and would do anything to ensure it thrives. At first, she isn’t sure what to think of Allie, but it isn’t long before she falls for the woman, and it isn’t long before the flirting turns into something more.

Blue is a genius when it comes to creating down-to-earth, sweetly complicated characters and placing them into situations where they thrive together, even if they shouldn’t. Her Aussie towns are authentic, and her humour is spot on. My favourite line in the whole book was the perfectly placed G-Flip quip, which had me in stitches. I Do is the feel-good romance you need to be reading right now. Make sure you check it out.

The plot, identical twin stand in, sounds fun and lighthearted and exactly what I am in the mood for. From the first it delivers, which if I’m honest, this writer usually does!
One of the differences with this book is it is set in Australia, and I love that you get the flavour of it being a different place from either nondescript USA or nondescript U.K. it’s done through subtle things, use of words in speech like gurgles for drain or breakfast items like Vegemite on toast.
There was no real tension in the romance plot, apart from one main pretending to be her sister. I couldn't really see a barrier to the mains being together. Although one apparently being straight should have been enough. The writer explained the mains attachment to being straight for understandable and non offensive reasons. However, I felt the plot was a wee bit floppy around the 30% point. I still enjoyed what I was reading but waiting for it to up a gear.
I couldn’t quite get how the fake wedding was such a big deal. Everyone knew it was staged for marketing purposes. The author didn’t quite get me to buy in.
Then the “I must come clean conversation” is delayed because the other main just wants them to get to the bedroom. Irritating mistake. I remained irritated when the next night they still didn’t have the conversation.
Naturally that doesn’t go well. Later, when there is an apology, Allie, I think is unreasonable. Maybe you will think I’m unreasonable about this book but I didn’t love it. It’s fine, and it may well be me, but read it and make up your own mind.

I loved spending time with these characters. The small town of Quandong is chock-full of charm, and the story took me on an emotional ride. The relationship between the sisters is so sweet, and you'll fall in love with both Allie and Tarryn. The emotional journey feels both genuine and earned. And the sexual tension and yearning crackles off the page. Do yourself a favour and walk down the aisle with this sweet romance!

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. It was a fast, fun, and overall enjoyable read. There were some great tropes that were used well; the twin swap, forced proximity, toaster oven (ish), workplace, etc. I liked the twin swap and it was very well done, executed in a way that was reasonably realistic which I always appreciate. There were adorable alpacas! The writing, pacing, characters, and setting were all very well done.

Unfortunately, something about the story was underwhelming, or just didn’t quite do it for me. Things might have been a little rushed or under developed; not terrible obviously as I still enjoyed the story a lot, but it didn’t quite get the full 5-star rating from me. The relationship, for example, seemed to pop up without very much development. I also found that there were a lot of subplots where I’m not sure why they were included, as they didn’t add a lot to the main plot (the details of her old workplace drama and the sisters relationship, for example).

This is a rare case for me where I am not giving this novel 5-stars, but I would recommend it. It was fun! It is also a relatively quick read in terms of page count, pacing, and overall readability.

I Do is a light hearted and enjoyable romcom that left me smiling when I finished reading. One of the things that I’ve come to appreciate in Blue’s writing is that she makes her characters realistic. Their flaws aren’t always lovable, but they are outweighed by their positive attributes. After all, a reader can’t really get invested in a character they don’t like. Blue can also take a trope – identity swapping identical twins in the case of I Do – and present a novel that feels original and not clichéd.

I really enjoyed this story about Allie and Taryn, and the fact that it feels so Australian was the cherry on the (wedding) cake for me. I’ve observed that we often believe our own jobs to be so mundane that anyone can do them (unless you’re a specialist like a plumber or doctor). So it’s quite believable that Sophie is adamant that her accountant twin sister can convince her clients she is her events planner self. And with Sophie readily available on the phone for backup, what could go wrong? Sure, Sophie may be queer which got her this event planning gig for a Pride Wedding Festival, but Allie is an ally so no problem there, right?

Obviously, the reader is prepared for it all to go sideways, so the surprises can only come from how that happens. Blue creates a bunch of quirky secondary characters who are at once universally relatable but also identifiably Australian. Taryn is the other protagonist who proves to Ally that she’s not as straight as she thought she was. Taryn might be a grumpy, cynical anti-marriage lesbian, but she’s also a warm-hearted, hard worker in need of extra cash so she can pursue her metal art career. Which is how she finds herself working as Sophie’s (or Allie’s) assistant.

Sometimes in life, all I want is some romantic escapism. I Do filled that need nicely.

I received a free copy of this novel from the publisher, but I’m voluntarily writing this honest review.

This twin swap, opposite attracts, fake wedding romcom is set in a small country town, Quandong, Australia. Allie is sent by her twin sister Sophie in her stead to help plan the town's first-ever pride parade event, which also is host to a fake wedding to help make it the gay wedding capital of Australia. Allie, wanting to help her sister after an accident leaves her incapacitated does just this, and pretends to be Sophie the event planner, even though she is just an account. She also needs to pretend that she's a lesbian because the town of Quandong hired a lesbian planner to help with their pride parade and gay wedding, not a straight ally, which Allie definitely is.

Allie is forced to work with an anti-marriage assistant, Tarryn, a metal worker with two alpacas on her farm, who is only doing the assistant work to get more money. They are opposites of each other, but opposites attract and everyone can see it. They end up becoming the couple to get fake married. But there is nothing fake about their attraction to each other.

This book is filled with queer characters and small-town humor. It is a quick read, with laughable moments and spicy dialogue. Cheyenne Blue is a new author to me, but definitely won't be one of my last. I loved the rep, and the characters and I especially loved how everyone wanted our two main characters to be happy.

Completing this book proved to be an arduous task—no exaggeration. The narrative struggled to hold my interest, dragging itself through pages with a tediousness that prompted me to resort to skipping paragraphs, a futile attempt as the story remained entrenched in a stagnant plot. There were whole chapters that added absolutely nothing to either the plot or the romance between the two main characters.

While I've always enjoyed the whimsy of a classic twin swap for deception, this particular rendition left me thoroughly unimpressed. Not even the small-town ambiance, fake gay marriage, and cute animals could salvage the experience for me. Admittedly, scattered scenes managed to capture my attention, and a few were genuinely charming. However, on the whole, the effort invested in completing this book did not yield a worthwhile payoff. Even the reconciliation in the final act was boring and duck! (Yes, it's the F word).

I've come to really enjoy Blue's novels and I was so intrigued by the storyline when I saw it. Who can resist a twin swap romance set in small-town Australia?!

I loved the premise and all of the characters, including our two alpaca friends. However, the romance unfortunately fell flat for me as I didn't feel the build up between Taryn and Allie. One second they're butting heads, the next they can't seem to stop kissing? I just wish there was a tad more development in the middle so I could feel their connection.

Regardless, I Do is a super cute read. I'm looking forward to what's next from Cheyenne Blue.

A very heart warming romance.
I have to admit I was a bit bored the first 25% because it was wat too much about the "planning" of the festival. But then the relationship between Allie/Sophie and Tarryn slowly blossomed and the story began. The last 25% is really emotional and makes up for the beginning.
All the characters are rich and important. You will want to move to Quandong...what a name for a town.
Lots of color, lots of warmth, lots of love. Good story.

I quite enjoyed this book, as expected from the author. I like the setting and the storyline. Allie is forced to pretend to be her twin after Sophie was injured in a car accident. Sophie is an event planner slated to organize the Gay Bells Festival in small town Australia. Allie is an accountant who was recently fired for something she did not do. I like the support characters in the town. The atmosphere is quite relaxed. Recommended for readers who are looking for a nice easy romance read.

"I Do" is Cheyenne Blue's latest work that features a nice blend of a twin swap, a fake Sapphic wedding, a vibrant Pride festival, and two adorable alpacas (one of which has got a "charming" attitude 🤭). It's a delightful book that successfully took me out of my reading slump!

Anyway, the bond shared between Allie and her twin, Sophie, easily resonates with me, consequently giving credibility to Allie's reasoning to pose as her sibling. I also found the narrative's strength in the gradual yet essential development of the romantic attraction between Allie and Tarryn. Though I found the pacing a tad slow, I thought it allows for a satisfying chemistry buildup, accentuated by the clash of their contrasting personalities.

Moreover, another interesting element in the story is the anticipation surrounding the impending revelation of Allie's true identity; it's a bit of a suspense that really kept me engrossed well into the night. And while I thought the resolution was somewhat sudden for my taste, the Epilogue did make up for it!

Blue's undeniable knack for crafting romantic narratives set in small towns shines brightly here, and the depiction of camaraderie within a charming queer community is also genuinely endearing. The supporting cast definitely adds a layer of depth and entertainment to the narrative.

All in all, "I Do" gave me an immensely enjoyable reading experience; I highly recommend a read!

Lovely and lots of fun!

Allie ends up covering for her injured twin sister, Sophie by pretending to be her during planning for a wedding festival for gay people. While there, Tarryn, who has been tasked with assisting Sophie isn’t a fan of weddings so when the idea to have a fake couple get married at the event, but neither Allie nor Tarryn think they’ll be chosen as the perfect couple.

A really fun story with quirks that kept it exciting. I kept waiting for the moment, because I knew it would come, where Tarryn and everyone responsible for the event discovered Sophie wasn’t herself and was actually Allie. The whole time Allie was on edge, worrying about being found out because not only was she pretending to be Sophie but she thought she was straight. When she started for form a connection with Tarryn and they were getting along, suddenly she was discovering so much about herself that staying in character as Sophie may have seemed easier but you just know it’s torturing Allie.

I loved Tarryn. She totally made the story with her grumpiness towards all things weddings. But she was a dark horse and secretly, even though she’d never admit it, she was enjoying meeting Allie and discovering the wonders of a relationship and weddings. What really made the story was the drama surrounding the situation. Firstly, you just knew the town were conspiring to vote them as the fake couple, and that could go horribly wrong. Then, there was no predicting what might happen for Sophie, Allie, and Tarryn once the truth came out, now that they’d grown close and the festival, including fake wedding had been such a success.

A lovely story, with everything needed for a good fake romance!

Cute, funny, romantic and full of charming characters.

Sophie and Allie are twins and would do anything for each other. Also slip into the role of the other, if need be...

That’s what it’s all about, but not without a valid and somewhat sad reason! Allie becomes Sophie for the Gay Bells Wedding Festival in Quandong that Sophie organizes as an event planner. There she meets her assistant who is made available to her and this assistant makes her seriously doubt her heterosexuality!
Tarryn is a welder and an artist but takes on various jobs to fund everything and to continue her art. She knows who she is and what she likes, but this new event planner from Sydney shakes her self-confidence...

Both MC’s are very likeable and lovable. Of course, because of the charade, everything is a bit difficult and develops slowly, but the chemistry between the two is strong from the first moment.

Cheyenne Blue has written another heartwarming love story with many different characters who beautifully represent the rainbow and our community. Serious themes of rejection and homophobia are also addressed, yet easily integrated into the story without complicating the moment. It’s a beautiful light story.
Thanks to Cheyenne Blue and Ylva Publishing for the ARC!

(4.5 Stars) Light hearted romance set in small Australian town of Quandong. To bring attention and future tourists the town decides to hold a gay wedding festival. They’ve contracted with a gay event planner Sophie to over see the festivities. Because of an injuries from an accident Sophie can’t attend but instead begs her recently unemployed twin sister Allie Lane to pose as her. Allie reluctantly agrees and is embraced and charmed by the town and its people. Her assistant is local metal artist and odd jobs worker Tarryn Harris. She isn’t sold on marriage but does want to see the event be a boost to the town.

I’ve read switched persons stories before and Cheyenne Blue writes it effortlessly. (It helps that the twins are never together when identities are switched.) I love the Australian expressions and the foods. Also Blue is inclusive of indigenous people in her story and queer representation. I Do recommend this entertaining book. Thank you to NetGalley and Ylva Publishing for the ARC and I am leaving a voluntary review.

I Do has a classic twin swap setup when one twin (a lesbian event planner) is in a car accident and needs her sister (a “straight” accountant) to stand in for her and run a big wedding event. I thought this book was overall, fine. There were elements I liked and found the characters entertaining enough, but the plot felt very convenient to the point of feeling forced. Aly working the queer wedding event for her sister and getting a lesbian assistant, fine. But then they’re voted to act out an entire fake wedding by the town? That’s where we get a bit forcing the relationship vibes in my opinion.

It was a fairly quick read, and I did have some fun along the way. I guess at the end of the day I didn’t feel fully convinced and thus not fully connected to the characters.

I am a fan of Cheyenne Blue and have enjoyed her other books that I’ve read but this just missed the mark for me. It’s hard to put my finger on what it was but the story just wasn’t compelling I suppose.

I was also underwhelmed with the chemistry between Allie/Sophie and Tarryn and the first time they got together was just meh. Because of that I didn’t finish the book.

Stars: 4 Stars
Format: Audiobook
Narrator: Cat Gould
Series: Stand Alone
Steam Level: Steamy

I read this for the I Heart Sapphic 2025 Reading Challenge for the prompt Opposites Attract.

I became a fan of Cheyenne Blue after reading Not for a Moment and I was excited to read this. So yeah, I’m now a big fan.

Quick Thoughts:
- Right off the top, I really, really love how diverse the characters are in this. I get annoyed when queer books only have white, gay characters when there is so much more to the community than that
- There are a few “one identical twin covers for the other” books out there and Cheyenne Blue does a great job making this one fun and different
- Part of what makes this twin switch believable is that the town Allie is traveling to for the job, no one really knows Sophie
- I admit, Tarryn annoyed me at first but then I ended up liking her (though not as much as I liked Allie)
- There is something wonderful about an author who takes a character who has the potential to be a one dimensional mean, stodgy character and showing they are just intense and are actually lovely
- Just thinking about that long drive Allie made exhausted me. Bleh
- I laughed A LOT at the mention of the Days of Our Lives rerun of when Vivian buried Carly alive. I remember seeing that exact scene back in the day when it originally aired. I watched Days faithfully for years with most of my mom’s side of the family (the guys also watched)
- Witnessing Allie learn about herself and why she had been so hesitant about things in the past, was probably one of parts I loved most about this book
- I greatly appreciated the responsibility the twins take about things
- A mention of The Pink Bean! I wasn’t expecting that! (It’s a reference to the Harper Bliss series by the same name)
- That was one adorable epilogue
- I really am just not a fan of books that end with the couple getting together (the epilogue helped that) and there was something about Tarryn that just irritated me (I enjoy reading books with unlikable main characters but not annoying ones)
- Cat Gould’s narration reminds me of Susan Duerden, who I love, so I almost instantly loved this. She had a nice, calm voice that fits really well for Allie’s character but not as well for Tarryn’s. Still loved this though. I’m excited to listen to more from Cat Gould

Overall despite this not being a five star book for me, this was a lot of fun and makes me want to read even more Cheyenne Blue books (which is why I’ve purchased three more already.) I probably wouldn’t recommend it as a first book to read by her but it’s still a good place to start.

Twin sisters swap places due to a series of unfortunate events and under an assumed identity, Allie Lane is playing the part of her sister Sophie, an event planner. From the start Sophie (who is secretly Allie) is butting heads with her assigned assistant, Tarryn Harris, while planning a large scale LGBTQ+ Festival. Complicating everything is Allie, who is supposed to be straight, while her twin sister is not, becomes muddled as she and her assistant become more and more attracted to each other.

So we have our assumed identity, forced proximity, grumpy-cheerful pairing, opposites attract, and a fake couple trope.

One of the things I really enjoyed about this book was getting to know the main characters. Tarryn is rough around the edges but as she reveals more of herself, she is fiercely loyal and passionate and just when I was liking her as she was, she starts to soften under the influence of Allie and the festival around her. Allie, at first seems like such a mess, but it all is revealed - her back story - what she has been through and as the story develops, she grows to be more confident and in touch with herself. She starts to develop and edge that she really needs.

What attracted me to the book was that it was going to culminate in a small town festival in Australia. I was not disappointed. The details behind the planning for this big event, the details of the event itself - it lead to a really joyful and celebratory tone for the story. The fact that it was set in Australia…well I did not know how much I did not know. I was looking up all kinds of terms, fruits, veg…like zucchini slices and I never would have guessed chooks were hens.

I really enjoyed the book, through and through. If you are into sapphic romances or romances in general - do pick this one up - I definitely recommend it. It is a sweet, joyful story with plenty of pointed and funny moments.

I would like to thank Net Galley and Ylva Publishing for the opportunity to review this ARC. This review copy was provided to me at no charge; my review of it is my voluntary offering and is my honest feedback

This delightful twin swap toaster oven story is a very fun read and extremely well-paced. Sophie has a nascent event planning business and her first booked event is a gay wedding festival in Quandong. She winds up being gravely injured in an accident and convinces her twin Allie to pretend to be her so she doesn’t lose the contract. Allie has found herself in the unenviable position of having lost her job at an accounting firm through no fault of her own and decides to help her twin.

Allie spends the rest of the book in Quandong trying her best to be a competent event coordinator. She gets help in the form of an assistant named Tarryn. They immediately clash and have to figure out how to work together. To make matters worse, they wind up winning the popular vote to get fake married at the end of the festival. As they spend more time together, Allie realizes she might not be as straight as she thought she was and she definitely has feelings for anti-marriage Tarryn.

The set up for this book is excellent - you can see Allie’s thought process as she makes the choice to help Sophie and she’s clearly a competent enough individual to pull it off. Tarryn is also a well drawn out character and her competence along with her general disinterest in the business of marriage is interesting, and certainly representative of some in the community. The additional side characters of Phyll, Will, Garrett, and Leila were all great additions and added to the story. Blue writes great characters and that is evident in this book. Overall I really enjoyed it and recommend it.
