The claiming ceremony happens once a year, and in between, there is no contact with members of the opposite sex unless you’re married. So really, there’s absolutely no pressure at all in attending. Right? I've graduated early to get my ticket to graduation, desperate to get out of the dorms for single women. My best friend and I are in this together, ready to get dressed up and essentially speed date our way to our soul mates. I'm nervous, waiting for a connection to someone I've never seen, never heard of, and certainly never met. We get ten minutes with them, and then we cycle through the rest of the eligible guys. That's not even the craziest part, though. The crazy thing is, after we meet with everyone and we know who our mate is, we get married right then and there and skip off into the sunset together. Why am I the only one here with more than one mate, though? 18+ y'all
I actually really liked this, and I'm sure I would have absolutely loved it had it been fleshed out more. So I'm giving it a 3.5*
Now, this is a 'snapshot,' so don't expect a lot of worldbuilding or character development/backstory. But I really just liked it for being a light, late-evening read!
🪬💥 👗 🌟 NOVELLA REVIEW 🌟 Theirs To Claim by Kelsey Soliz 🎶 Eyes Off You - PRETTYMUCH
This was a completely different type of book. We are in a world where the government essentially controls everything, including when you interact when the opposite gender. Separated from their parents even at 13, sent to school and unable to meet your fated until after graduation. Elyse unknowingly gets not one, not two, but three mates.
This novella was quick to read with a majorly different vibe. There was a slight drama infused twist as well. Initially the book reads as a MFM read, but no worries it’s RH. However it does take a while.
Since this book is a fated mates the chemistry and attraction is there instantaneously. Not necessarily love, but close enough. The protectiveness is there from the get go from all Joshua, Ryder and Kenny. Despite the spice hitting early, there is still a plot within this book. It easily could have been a longer full length read and still had enough to cover.
That said, there were some things that I feel could have been elaborated on more. Some things left questioning. Regardless, if you’re up for a different futuristic like government (probably will piss you off) with some fun romance and dirty talk, give this read a try! While it is a fated mates, this is not PNR.
I really enjoyed the concept for this book and I really liked the characters. Absolutely fascinating world. The story was good but it did feel like it was missing something, I don’t know what but it just felt like it 🤷♀️. I am interested in more to this world though and hope the author writes more. It definitely seems like a lot could be done with this to make it into a series with different groupings.
The spice level was excellent and I love that most of it was intuitive.
This didn't feel like a Kelsey Soliz novel at, but as she said herself, its out of the norm for her. Other than the unaliving by fallen mountain goat, it didn't have her signature feel of a quirky sassy strong heroine with an array of strong personalities amongst the men. It was a softer version of one of her stories. That being said, if I look at as a story, and not HER story, it was nice. Cozy and no/low angst.
I needed a palate cleanser transiting from one dark romance to another. This story gave me the cute, girly good feels that I needed and was wrapped up quite well with a nice plot twist in there.
Short, sweet, spicy small insta-love novella. I really like how Kelsey Soliz writes and this book was as good as any others I have read by her. Enjoyed the unique world-building and the characters.
Kelsey Soliz does fated mates and insta-love best. She has this way of making love at first sight feel real and not forced or rushed whatsoever. While this book is rather short, it's an excellent palette cleanser and a nice change from the usual fated mates tropes (as are her other series) :))
I really enjoyed this. It was short and sweet. There was simple conflict and there were good characters. I do wish that we had gotten an epilogue further out than a week, or maybe just another epilogue. This is the perfect palette cleanser between books.
A lovely amuse bouche of a Kelsey story. It has all the absurdity and humor she is well known for and it of course has a HEA. I really love Elyse's story and this world. Hope we see more in it eventually 💜
Intriguing plot line… good concept, but needed flushed out further to make it truly great. Love multiple POVs, RH, man candilicious alpha types, one villain, flawd government. Quick read and more like a little palate cleanser.
I can’t believe that crazy creep with a daddy that lets him believe he’s more important than he actually is. I’m so glad they got their happily ever after.
Please don't waste your money on this book. None of it makes sense because you have no idea of the reason why their world is ran like it is. Iam guessing the author wanted to make a quick buck with this short story.
Fun and quick read about fated mates, navigating multiple partners and a skeevy creeper trying to fuck it all up. Instalove, virgins and super spicy sexy scenes. 🔥🌶🔥 #book221of2023 @kelseysolizauthor #kelseysolizauthor #kelseysoliz
This was a cute little book from Kelsey. I loved everything about it the premise, the guys, and the drama. The only thing I didn't like was that the 3rd guy didn't get nearly enough time. The book could have been longer and it would have made it better.
It’s definitely instalove. I felt like there should’ve been some sort of indication that the FMC had met all of her mates, kind of like a knowing that her circle was closed. Otherwise, based on the way the story actually panned out, it was possible she had more mates out there.
