My whole life has been riddled with nothing but bad luck, especially when it comes to jobs.
I can never seem to hold anything down, and the truth is, nobody wants to work with someone as volatile and angry as me.
But to take care of my family, I need money, and when the opportunity arises to work the front desk at Devil’s Ink, the local Motorcycle Club’s tattoo shop, I’ll do everything I can to not mess this up. It doesn’t matter that there are rumors of darkness and blood surrounding Los Diablos MC. Or that my dangerous new boss doesn’t think I can do the job. Or that his hungry eyes follow me every step of the way, inciting a lust for someone I can never be with, someone who hates everything about me.
I guess if there’s one thing they’re about to find out, it’s that violence never scared me anyway. Only the best work at Devil’s Ink and Xiomara is anything but. With a reputation like hers, I knew she was sure to fail within the week.
I never expected that her steely determination to prove me wrong would result in a lust I don’t need or want. I’m her boss. She’s my employee. Anything between us is bound to end in disaster.
That doesn’t stop my gaze from going over her body. Or obsessing over her laughter. Or wanting my ink tattooed on her skin.
I try to tell myself that my lifestyle is too dangerous for someone like her. And when the violence and blood of my MC touches her perfect skin, I know I’ll do anything to protect her from it.
I guess she’ll see for herself how many souls a Diablo can reap for his woman.
Ink is a semi-dark contemporary Motorcycle Club Romance novella and is technically book 0.5 in the Los Diablos MC series. This book contains scenes and situations that may not be suitable for all readers. Please check the content warnings before picking up.
Jade Hernández is a proud Mexican-American woman who strives to bring more Latinx stories to life within the contemporary romance genre. You may know her as Aleera Anaya Ceres, the USA Today Bestselling Author of diverse fantasy and paranormal works. Under this new penname, she aims to represent her culture by writing sweet, dark, gritty, and fun stories for all. As an introvert, Jade prefers to stay inside with a good book, collect tarot cards, and she's recently found a love for book boxes! She currently lives in Tlaxcala, Mexico with her husband and children.
I loved the Latinx representation - having a Mexican FMC and the story set in Mexico was so refreshing. The beginning pulled me in but it got pretty underwhelming after a while. The smut fell flat for me and I never fully felt the feminine rage energy from the FMC since the scenes where she’s supposed to be unhinged were not described well. I really liked the concept of this novella and will definitely read the rest of the series!
Short & spicy. I loved it! I love when a novella still manages to provide a good background to its characters. Looking forward to the rest of this series
This is a short and to the point hot novella. I think I might have even blushed. I absolutely loved Xio she is the epitome of a badas fmc!! I’m in the middle of heavy reads to this was a perfect palette cleanser.
So I randomly came across this book on IG and holy fuck I’m so glad that I did !!!! I finished this baby in one day 🙂↕️
“You don’t fucking talk to her,” Ink threatened. “You don’t fucking touch her. Don’t even fucking look at her, pendejo. You got that?”
I’ve just been really in the mood for quick novellas and this was so perfect !!!!! I love finding new Latinx authors and this will definitely not be the last book I will be reading by her !!!! It was just so damn good and entertaining !!! I couldn’t put it down !
“Let’s get out of here,” Ink ordered. “I’ll take care of you.”
INK 😭😭😭 he was just overall *chef kiss*. I loved every single thing about this man 😩😩 and Xiomara ? DEFINITELY THE DEFINING OF STABBY FMC 😭😭 she was such a badass and by far my favorite while I was reading this !!!
“What do you mean, yours?”I slapped a pair of latex gloves on. “Eres mi Vieja,” I said.”
4.5 ★ 🌶️🌶️
*boss/employee *MC *Mexican MCs *touch her and die *enemies to lovers
Ink is the first part to the Los Diablos Motorcycle Club Series by Jade. It follows Ink, a tattoo artist that owns Devil’s Ink which is the local Motorcycle Club’s Tattoo Shop. Xiomara has angry tendencies. So when it comes to jobs? She can’t keep them. Until a friend of hers gets her a job at Devil’s Ink.
From first sight, there’s hatred. There’s lust. And there’s so much danger. Xiomaara is such a badass that I was rooting for her throughout and damn her scenes were insane. Ink was already infatuated that his possessiveness shined heavily so fast.
“He breathed deeply and I did the same. Like we were breathing one another in. Like we could taste the salt of each other’s souls, hear the rhythm of our hearts and somehow sync them together.”
He pressed a kiss to my jawline. “I like you possessive and violent.”
Honestly got through this in like 3 hours, truly had so much fun reading. It’s dark, spicy, and so badass I can not wait to read Miguel, book 2 in the series!! Check TW’s as this is a dark read‼️‼️‼️
- Dark Motorcycle Club - Badass FMC - Mexican Main Characters - Workplace (Boss x Employee) - Enemies to Lovers - Touch Her and Die - Tattoos For Each Other
If you know me you know that I’m a sucker for MC books, and this was no different. It was short and spicy with a possessive grumpy mmc and a FMC with feminine rage, I think it was a good introduction to the next book in the series.
Also I absolutely loved the Mexican representation and seeing them talking in Spanish cuz as a Puerto Rican myself that shit hits different every single time!! ❤️🔥
-boss x employee -prequel novella -Latinx romance -set in Mexico -dual pov -MC club 🏍️ -sexy tattoo in a tattoo chair 👀
It can be super difficult to capture flushed out characters and a love story in such a short word count, but Jade Hernandez does not disappoint! In less than 25k words, she made me fall in love with Ink and Xiomara. They were flawed and beautiful and I was truly invested in their story. I cannot wait for the rest of the guys!
I could not put it down. I was OBSESSED. For once, a tik tok rec didn’t let me down. I don’t even know where to begin.
Ink just exudes Rio energy, and for that alone. I can only picture Manny Montana in my brain when I mention him. He was just 🤌🏼✨Perfect. I wouldn’t change a thing about that man.
Xio can do no wrong in my eyes. And I mean that. LMAO. She did what needed to be done and that was that. A strong WOC who is the embodiment of feminine rage but still could be soft when necessary - beautiful.
Their little love story is so cute, like bro please. I ate that up. The spicy was so well written too. Not at one point did I cringe. And the dirty talk in spanish !!! Beautiful. I will continue this series until there’s nothing left of it.
Jade delivered with this novella! I could not put this down and was so invested with the two MCs. The tension when they first met and when the two first banged it out 🤌🤌 Perfection. I love the forbiddeness of the boss/employee and when THAT scene came on, I *swooned*. I'm excited for more to come in this series!
Is this the start of my new favorite MC dark romance? I have high hopes. I love a perfectly paced spicy novella where an FMC can go head to head with motorcycle boys.
This one gripped me from start to finish and didn’t let go. I fell deep within the story and it was wonderful.
Xio is feminine rage personified and I adore her. Even in the short amount of time this book took to read, she really burrowed her way into my soul. Ink, no matter how tough he is, didn’t stand a chance and fell hard and fast. Just how we like them to do.
This was a novella I found that I figured I’d use as a palate cleanser in between some of the heavier stuff I’ve been reading. Well that immediately backfired cause now I need to read the rest of the series immediately.
If you like a possessive, dark but soft just for her MMC and a badass FMC that has no problem spilling blood then Ink and Xiomara are about to be your fave couple.
Ink is a perfect, gritty novella and start to the Los Diablos MC series! I loved this introduction to the Los Diablos motorcycle club and the characters in this world. Ink and Xiomara were so much fun together, and the high heat romance combined with the tense suspense had me on the edge of my seat! This is my first Mexican motorcycle club romance, and I can't wait to see where Jade Hernandez takes this series next with Miguel! I'd rate this 4.25 stars rounded up.
I’m far behind my reading challenge and I wanted to read short novellas and this was was my first It wasn’t that bad tbh, but I have read better smut with no plot better than this 🤡
The female character is so annoying and very obnoxious and what’s with her rage ? Is she the hulk or something ? 😂
And don’t get me started on the male character with his stupid ass name “Ink” and guess what he does for a living? You guessed it a tattoo artist
He tattooed on her body “Ink’s property”, how lame and unoriginal is that ? Without her conscient even I hated this book so much I don’t know how I finished it so fast
And the smut was awful, like it was written by a 13 year old who just discovered wattpad 🤡
I really dig this universe of Latino Bikers the author has created. I feel so good about the following next books to come out.
As for this spicy and tastey novella. It has all the elements I love about MC! The edge, the danger, the foul mouths, violence, and hot hot hot steam to balance it all out.
I will never get over this being a full Latinx love duo. I need more books like this in my life.
So I have been stalking Jade’s threads profile because of a few posts she has made about some stuff she is currently working on (keeping my eye out for that gargoyle romance because monster smut is my JAM!) so I decided to check out her already published works. And of course the first thing I see is a novella and book on a Mexican motorcycle club (series? maybe? possibly?) so of course I hit purchase on both and here we are, Ink!
Suck’s to say that this is the first time I read about a MEXICAN motorcycle club but ya girl Jade got this nena HOOKED with this novella. First off, Xiomara. I love her, she is badass and YET, we also get to see her struggle internally about herself and her rage. But to see her rage out! YES! I wanna say more but I don’t wanna spoil! But all I will spoil is that Queen CAN swing a bat.
And Ink…bruh Ink got me weak with two lines in this novella!
“No one will ever mark your skin again. Only I get to do that. With ink.” “And while you’re flirting with my club brothers, you’ll do it with my fucking seed inside you.”
Those lines made me WEAK! The way he is so possessive, so protective AND controlling! But not that toxic machista controlling we all avoid like the plague. Nah, he got that good good control, the one where you wanna obey but know damn well he respects you! Even shows it at one point almost at the end of the novella! Did it at the start too but go read to know what I’m talking about!
And the bits of Spanish! Oh I adore seeing my language being used in writing! Even made the spicy scenes muy deliciosas! Talking about the spice, oof! I have never gotten a tattoo before but damn, is it bad I wanna get a tattoo done now, but like how Xiomara got it from Ink??
Finished this novella in one day folks because it was THAT good. And as I type this, I plan on getting on Fallout 76 and finishing my dallies JUST so that I can start reading the next book, Miguel. So yes, this has me convinced that I am going to truly enjoy Jade’s upcoming works and sure as hell checking out the rest of her stuff once I finish Miguel. Even thinking of getting a physical copy of Learn to Love You!
This was a blast to read. I knew i was down for a rude when the Author's Note is all "I'm Mexican. Been all my life & this is an MC romance that takes place in Mexico. It's going to be all dark romancey violent but Mexican AF, so don't call my ish stereotypes".....
And I'm here for it 🙌🏾👏🏾🫰🏾
The writing was fast-paced and crisp. The focus was on their budsing romance with the crime veing adjacent or in the peripheral. I call these types darkish gray romances. There is some grit but know it comes a smidgen sanitized but that's alright.
Tropes I loved: 🏍I love the microtrope found in MC romances were the FMC is trying to act unaffected by the MMC so when she first gets on his bike she tries to sit faraway and the MMC silently swings an arm back and squishes her body to his all sexy like
Don't know why but it gets me every time
🏍I'm a sucker for it! Annnd my other fav MC romance micro-trope: "she's the only woman I've ever had/let on my bike"
🏍the Old Lady having smex in a tattoo chair while getting his brand..ahem..I mean name tatted on you 🥵
Look dark MC romances had me in a choke hold for 3 solid years. It was a hard addiction to shake, but I finally did. 🙌🏾 but now.....now....Jade Hernandez is trying to get me back hooked 😮💨 and she's doing an awesome job because Xio was the perfect FMC. She was strong and dough but with vulnerabilities that made sense. Ink was a hot MMC, all growly and willinfing to choke you out during hot smex...what's not to love
Xiomara gets hired at Devil’s Ink which is a tattoo studio belonging to the Los Diablos MC and she has to make this job last. Xiomara is known for her temper and she can’t afford to lose this job. but that proves challenging when her new boss is expecting her to fail at every turn.
for a novella, i was not disappointed. you get an understanding of Xiomara and why she is the way she is. and even tho you don’t learn really anything about Ink’s background, you understand how the MC is his life and what the MC is about.
tho short, the book is filled with great spice. and you get an intro to the MC and the other members.
Ink is a straight up alphahole but he’s possessive once he figures himself out.
Xiomara has the feminine rage we all feel. and she’s a badass that will make you love her and this novella. if you’ve read the 𝙏𝙤𝙭𝙞𝙘 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙚 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙗𝙮 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙚 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙖 then you’ll love this novella.
Ink by Jade Hernandez is a captivating novella that had me hooked from beginning to end. In this short but intense read, I found myself immersed in the story.
Jade Hernandez has crafted a compelling universe populated by Latino bikers, which adds depth and authenticity to the narrative. This glimpse into the world of motorcycle clubs filled with edge, danger, foul language, violence, and sizzling romance is a treat for fans of the genre.
One of the standout aspects of this novella is the Latinx representation, with Ink and Xiomara forming a powerful and passionate love duo that resonates deeply. Their undeniable chemistry and the way they push each other's buttons make for an addictive dynamic. With its magnetic characters, steamy romance, and authentic representation, I can't wait to see what future books in this series have in store.
⭐️ 3.5/5 Stars 🔥 3/5 Steam Rating 📝 Alternating 1st Person 💖 Motorcycle Club, “Mine”, Boss/Employee, Breath Play
This was a fun little introduction to the Los Diablos MC and some of its club leaders.
While I knew this was a novella before starting it, I really wish that it was longer. Xiomara is such a cool character, I wish we could have explored her backstory and spent more time building the relationship between her and Ink. Xiomara is a badass and I just didn’t feel like this story was long enough to do her justice.
There were a couple suspenseful moments within this story, but I felt like they resolved way too quickly and easily. I wanted a bit more grit and tension.
With all that said, I definitely plan to read the next book in this series. I hope that it being full length will give me the depth that I craved from Xiomara & Ink’s story.
ngl, i ate this up so fast 😭💓. xio and ink are so toxic and perfect for each other!
i think Jade has become one of my favorite authors and a mexican mc??? are you kidding me? 😭 i don't understand why some of the lower reviews are mad about the book having spanish because there's a disclaimer in the beginning and translation websites other than google DO exist. yes as a reader, it takes more time to go out of your way to find definitions/translations but it depends on how fully immersed YOU want to be in the story? you do have the option of glazing over???
but anywaaaays, this novella was so perfect and even though it was short, Jade perfectly captures the readers' attention and interest in both the characters and the plot! also, the dirty talk in spanish??? yes please 😭💓.
I'm usually into lighter reads but felt the need for something different, and this book definitely delivered! I've read several MC stories, and this one has just become my favorite. The setting in Mexico and writing style created a unique atmosphere, I felt immersed in the action. The characters were believable, they were realistically flawed and fit together so well. There were kinks involved (make sure to read the trigger warnings) but unlike in others books I've read, here they fit the characters (rather than be used for shocker value) and didn't ruin the emotionality of the hot scenes. Which were 🔥🔥🔥 I'll definitely be reading the next books in the series!
