Diary of a Gym Addict

Rate this book
My name is Tom, and I'm a Gym Addict. For over two decades, I've been obsessed with and consumed by all aspects of fitness. This book aims to capture the learnings, successes and failures of my different approaches to natural Bodybuilding, diets, training programmes and developing a strong, sporting mindset. I examine some of the pitfalls of the modern fitness landscape, including social media, the rise of the 'fitness influencer' and how effective training and programming can be instrumental in overcoming mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression and addiction.

⭐REVIEW: Diary of a Gym Addict by
Tom Moss

🏋️‍♂️ Over the last nine months, I've been consistently
working out at home or outdoors. Although my life isn't
perfect, working out is helping me to blow off some
steam and feel generally better about myself.

📌 One of the struggles I faced when I started seeking
more info on dieting and exercise was the inconsistent
opinions and knowledge of the different "fitness
influencers". I was seriously confused about what to do
to begin my fitness journey.

🏋️‍♂️ Nine months later, after being genuinely confused, I
stumbled upon this book, which, to say the least,
clarified and simplified many aspects of the fitness
industry. This book, as the name implies, is a diary of
someone who's spent his lifetime in the gym.

🤔My thoughts on this book

🏋️‍♂️ In the fitness industry, many people profit from
people who know nothing about this world by lying to
them. In a world like that, it's easy to be afraid. Luckily
for us, there is always someone trying to genuinely and
truthfully help, and Tom is one of them.

📖 Throughout the book, you feel that he is just there
to give you a simplified but, at the same time, detailed
understanding and picture of the fitness world so that
newbies know what to expect from this incredible
journey of bettering themselves.

📖 Honestly, I loved this book and couldn't find a
negative aspect. I hadn't read books on fitness before
this one, so maybe I am exaggerating, but to me, this
book is a delightful surprise that comes at a time in my
life when I am focused on my fitness.

Why should you read it❓

If you are trying to get fit, you need to check this one
out, even if you are not into bodybuilding. This book is
perfect for anyone interested in improving their health
and living a more fulfilled life.

You'll have much more clarity and appreciate the
honest approach used to write the book. Definitely
recommended!

This is a GREAT fitness book that I hope doesn't stay underrated for long. Because it definitely is now. Which is a shame, because Tom gives much better advice here than you see with the fake fitness influencers flooding Instagram and TikTok. You can pretty much just buy and sell those people, but Tom gives it to you straight, with an OBVIOUS love of lifting, working out, etc. that's evidenced on every page.

Tom's also a natural lifter (like me), so the book's perfect for people who want to make big improvements in their physique, their confidence, their mindset, etc. but who don't want to take a bunch of drugs. Is it EASIER to build muscle with steroids? Of course it is. But you don't NEED TO go down that route if you don't want to. Just read Tom's book - he lays it all out for you, and in a way that's fun and easy to read. So yeah, highly recommend this one!

Quite the page turner. The author has kept things simple for a beginner/intermediate fitness enthusiast to pick up and not feel daunted. Provides actionable training plans and diets while keeping expectations realistic as well. I liked the chapter on mental health and how he shares his own experiences rather than pretending to be a psychologist.
