Suitable for both majors and non majors World History, Volume 1: to 1500 introduces students to a global perspective of history couched in an engaging narrative. It was a well written history book with great maps and illustrations. I read it cover to cover and it was quite enjoyable. Ive read lots of world history text books and this one had new material and outlooks over some well worn historical paths. I especially enjoyed the Pre-Middle Ages in Europe after the fall of the Western Roman Empire covering the Franks, the rise of monasticism and the courts of Charlemagne. The prehistory section I found lacking and short, not much in the way of the archeological record that's why I didn't give a 5 star review.
