"Letting Go of Overthinking in Relationships and Relationships Anxiety Workbook" by Robert J. Charles, an expert in the field, is a valuable and enlightening resource for those grappling with anxiety and overthinking in their relationships. The author adeptly dissects the root causes of these issues and offers practical exercises to rewire your brain and foster healthier habits.

What I found most beneficial about this book is its ability to cater to a wide range of readers, from those well-versed in these concepts to those just beginning to explore them. The writing is straightforward and approachable, making it easy to grasp the material.

The workbook aspect is helpful, offering actionable steps that make a real difference. I am diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, and while I'm not free of anxiety yet, I've noticed an improvement in how I approach my relationships. This book has given me the tools to cultivate more meaningful connections and reduce the negative impact of overthinking.

Even if you don't struggle with anxiety, there's still plenty to gain from the practical advice and warm, compassionate tone. It's a great reminder that sometimes, we must look inward and work on ourselves to create the desired relationships. A solid four stars—definitely worth the read for anyone seeking to improve their relationships and personal well-being.

Listened to this as an audiobook, though that edition’s not a choice on Goodreads for some reason.

Very good book for beginners learning about anxiety and attachment in relationships. Has many useable skills/tools.

This book did surprise me with the Christianity mixed in. Though I never mind references to prayer, religion, or spirituality in mental health/self-development books, it was just tad on the stronger, sometimes preachier side for my tasting with this book. Not enough to ruin the rest of the book, as the religious references were still on the lesser side. I’d recommend this book more for Christians, which I think can help any Christian branching into the mental health world bridge the gap and feel more heard and see how their religion can still be utilized in their mental health journey.

Good workbook, I think it would be helpful to have the physical copy, and I did the journaling exercises as well. It is very helpful and has helped to open my eyes about certain aspects of my anxiety and where it comes from. I would definitely recommend. The one thing I would say is that it is kind of repetitive.

A perspective from a single person

As I only recently discovered how anxiety was controlling me life, this book was a good book to help me start my journey.

I really enjoyed the way the author challenged my thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
I also very much enjoyed the exercises and workbooks.

There were two parts in this book that didn’t really work for me.

1. Some of the exercises that one does with one’s partner were exercises I couldn’t do with a friend.

2. I didn’t like the exercises where one had to preplan an event that triggers one and prepare for how one would respond to it before hand. It meant that I would have to place my friends into a situation that that could potentially hurt the friendship. Also, life is spontaneous and this exercise felt forced and fake.

Lastly, there was a quote that I absolutely loved and have made it part of my goals:

HEALING DOESN’T MEAN THE DAMAGE NEVER EXISTED, IT MEANS THE DAMAGE NO LONGER CONTROLS OUR LIVES.
