The Wedding Surprise

Rate this book
You are invited for Portugal's Wedding of the Year in this delightful story packed with laughter and charm.

Rationality is a man's sharpest sword...

Edmond never believed in marriage, but after his superior, Griffin Maxwell, entrusts him with a surprise to his bride, he is forced to attend their wedding in the sunny Douro Valley.

Nothing more colorful than the artist's soul...

Elise isn't going to her friend's wedding to pick the bouquet. The youngest and less beautiful of three sisters, she gave up fancy dreams of love. Her life goal is to show her Godfather her watercolors for a chance of featuring in his exposition.

A fairy godfather with meddling plans...

When a crazy scheme threatens the wedding surprise, Edmond must partner with Elise to save the celebration. After a heated embrace in a dusty armoire, Elise can no longer hide her feelings for Edmond. But will the Englishman choose passion over his stubborn logic?

Giovanna Siniscalchi chased narrative arcs and climax points in the Nasdaq for twelve long years working as an economist. Still, her romantic imagination was wasted in the financial markets, so she decided to put it to better use: write fiction. She is married and has two great kids. Her passions are eclectic, including reading, traveling, surfing, wine, and of course, historical romance.

I received this book through BookFunnel for review. Apparently when the book was formatted it cause the book to start further in close to the wedding. Which worked until you get to the end and the next chapter starts at the beginning of the book and confuses you, until you figure out what happened. So after that mishap, I read the remainder and compiles it all together. She uses some big words that most would have to look up the meaning of. Otherwise, I would say it’s a decent little book. I see so much more potential with this book, if the author would do character building and world building. There was little of this.

It's always great to return to the Duoro Valley. This fun little novella, with its rompy plot and somewhat silly hijinks, represents such a departure from Giovanna Siniscalchi's usually angsty, intense work, but still manages to pack a surprising emotional punch towards the end. The romantic, but headstrong Elise was a very engaging and likeable heroine, and it was super fun to see the starchy Edmond come undone. Also, it's always nice to revisit characters from the previous books and to see Griffin and Julia still very much crazy about each other.

Edmond and Elise met under unusual circumstances, in a carriage on their way to a wedding. This was not the most pleasant journey for either of them and I really did not expect a happy ever after, but Cupid obviously had other ideas about this and eventually so did they.
This story was a quick and easy read with both characters desperate!y trying not to fall in love but as I said earlier, Cupid got involved. I guess, what and who you resist soon become a reality!

This short story is very interesting and the characters were mostly believable while keeping my attention.

Amazing little side story! 😍
While I'm happy to read a little bit about Julia and Maxwell's wedding and the surprise he prepared for her, Elise and Edmond's story made me swoon and grinned as a teenager! 🤗🥰
I love everything about this wonderful world Gio has created for the Winemakers series! ❤️

I loved this short book!!! Edmond and Elise’s story might have been short on paper but I could feel through the pages all the years of yearning that preceded them. I was rooting for them so hard, and I was so happy that they had their happy ending!
