Rate this book
The instant Lady Diana Westover spies Edmond Terrington, Viscount Adderley, across a crowded room, the lovely, sheltered miss believes she's found the man she's been searching for. Though she knows nothing of men, Diana longs to pen a romantic novel. So she resolves to study the darkly handsome, scandalously seductive lord's every move, to experience the pleasures of his soft kisses and sensuous caresses ... all in the name of research.

Who is this infuriating female who is everywhere he turns? Edmond is used to fawning admirers, but this attractive chit seems interested in something other than passion. And the more immune she remains to Edmond's charms, the more enchanted he is by hers. Well, this calls for a serious seduction, for he will be bested by no woman, no matter how bright, witty and delightful! But once he sets Diana's desires gloriously free, how will Edmond contain the yearnings of his own traitorous heart?

This was a cute sweet read. Villans weren't too villany. The h/h were very compatible and had very witty conversations. Very low on the sex scale but you hardly noticed because the h/h had such great dynamics and didn't feel the need to have sex every 20 pages LOL. I would definitely recommend this book. I am on to the next in this series. Should be another cute one!

Read it for the nostalgia factor and it’s exactly how I remembered it. Awkward, needed some editing but somehow started my fascination with the secret novelist heroine trope. Detailed review to come.

FULL REVIEW

This is a very sweet story where the rakes aren't really rakes. This was one of the first romances I read, and I found it because I had read a medieval romance Margaret Moore wrote for teens that I was definitely obsessed.

What I love about Kiss Me Quick is Diana's obsession over Edmond on a literary level. I still found her amusing how she took the opportunity to spy on Edmond, purely for academic purposes. Although reading it now, it was incredibly unbelievable Edmond would become interested to pursue Diana after he noticed her staring.

Lady Diana Westover started my love of novelist heroines. Meanwhile Edmond, Viscount Adderly, was a good introduction/warning that most rakes aren't rakes. It is laughable how quickly the reader is disillusioned of this because Edmond is the exact opposite of a rake. He is even likened to a fussy hen in the second book, Kiss Me Again. The only reason why people thought he was a rake was because he was hot and because Fallston talked shit. LOL what.

The main source of conflict is unpacking Lord Fallston and Edmond's beef. What we are told about Edmond at the beginning of the novel is not the full picture, as it is only Fallston's side of the story. Fallston claims Edmond tried to drown him in middle school. The whole thing is a bit ridiculous, especially as it becomes clear early on that Fallston is not very suave or credible. Meanwhile, Edmond has 3 very good friends from middle school including a scientific researcher and writer affectionately called Buggy, and a dark-haired and very dreamy barrister named Drury, and Mr. Nice Guy Brix. I wish that everyone got their own story. I mean, Drury was WAY more interesting in Kiss Me Quick than Mr. Nice Guy Brix whose every other word was talking about Fanny, a girl he DEFINITELY will never ever ever marry.

Like I did when I read it way back when, I found some sections awkward to read, some of the lines don't land, and the scenes don't make quite the impact the way it was supposed to. However, a nice trip down memory lane!

I loved this book! I've never read a book by the author before, but believe me when I say that I'll be tracking down more of her books!

Although historical romances are provbably my favorite, I do get tired of the usual plot points - the big misunderstanding, the heros bad reputation or desire to stay unmarried until they are old amd in need of an heir, previous bad luck in love and therefore being afraid to fall in love again, etc (it's amazing I love historicals so much, seeing as how tired I get by all of the romance tropes). This book was a huge change of pace! None of the aforementioned cliches were used, and the hero and heroine had real and true chemistry, respect, and belief in each other. I would highly recommend this book to any romance reader, especially if you like historicals. For readers that love when the hero is constantly put off guard or one upped by the heroine, this is perfect for you!

For some of my goodread friends that need some serious steam in their books like I generally do, this might notbe the best, but I think if there was a higher level of steam in this book it would not have rung true. It was surprisingly not something I missed at all as I was too focused on the characters.

I really enjoyed this book due to the main characters. I like the bickering couple and the fact that they were able to trust each other. I rarely find a romance novel where the heroine is able to trust the hero.
Also, I cannot wait to read the other lords' stories.

Lady Diana, anonymous novelist, finds the model for her new villain in the pump room at Bath. Lord Adderley, accustomed to admirers, is determined to change the distant look in Lady Diana's eye. Lady Diana's aunts are horrified at the way she is studying Lord Adderley at very close range. So is one of the local heiresses. An entertaining romp.

What a great start to a wonderful series! It had all the elements to a perfect romance novel; chemistry, strong main characters and wonder side characters that didn't take away from the growing relationship, but who were intriguing enough for me to want to read the rest of the series. And the fact Lady Diana wanted to write a romance, well that was just icing on the cake for me. Loved it!!

Quick (ha!), easy read. Good dialogue, straight forward plot. Nothing that hasn't been done before but it's a pleasant diversion. Not exactly clean but not crazy steamy either.

Seeing as my online library has all the books in the series, I'll read them too.

Lady Diana Westover is the daughter of the late Duke of Dilby. Raised by him at their manor in Lincolnshire, she's very well educated and outspoken. After his death, she goes to visit two widowed aunts in Bath. Their intent is to introduce her to society. Her intent is to study a likely male for the role of villain in the novel she's writing.

Edmond Terrington, Lord Adderley, immediately catches her attention and she catches his, but not for all the best reasons at first. The attraction grows, but a would-be suitor doesn't like it and neither does an educated cit trying to marry into the nobility. They hatch a scheme to thwart the romance. Eventually all works out and Edmond proves himself worthy of her. Both get books published and quietly retire to the country and their libraries. Set up for future books on his friends. Clean fun story.

I TRULY ENJOYED THE BANTERING BETWEEN THE CHARACTERS, IT'S JUST THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING ABOUT IT THAT DIDN'T REEL ME IN ENOUGH TO WANT TO FINISH THE ENTIRE BOOK.

Took me a long time to finish because of getting frustrated with the characters. But it ended well.

This started out really great. I liked the premise and the dynamic between the two leads was cute. Their chemistry was so good in the parts of the book before their relationship started to turn romantic. Diana could be a bit annoying and extra, but I absolutely loved Edmond. Weird religious backstory aside, there was just something very charming about him. His borderline obsession towards finding out why Diana was following him had me laughing. I loved that conversation where Brix thought that Edmond was being neurotic and making a big deal about Diana showing up everywhere. If I didn’t know that Diana was creeping on him, I would’ve thought that he was being crazy and overthinking things too. It got even better when he decided to give her a taste of her own medicine and starting following her too. That part in the library where he used her words against her was so funny. It seemed like a joke, but as a reader, you knew that he had definitely done exactly that.

As much as I enjoyed the beginning of this, the book lost me once Diana and Edmond fell in love with each other. They were adorable together up through their night meeting in the grotto, but after that, it was like the book was hijacked by these weird poetry spouting people. I just didn’t buy how they went from being intrigued and lusting to being full-blown madly in love. Edmond was wonderful and then in the last chunk of the story, I couldn’t even recognize him anymore. He lost a lot of his charm and turned into this sappy lovesick guy. The remainder of the plot got pretty cheesy to me and I kind of started tuning out. Also, I hated how Diana dealt with Edmond and her plan to decide if he truly loved her. They only knew each other for a month, maximum, and . I’m sorry, but I found that really ridiculous. I didn’t understand why Diana would put herself through all that pain when she could be happy right then and there. If a guy asked that of me, I’d probably dump him and find someone better that wouldn’t waste my time.
