Summoned & Crossed, books one and two in the Summoned Series are available now. Forged is her upcoming third book, releasing September 9, 2025.
I truly don’t have enough good words to say about Summoned. M.B. has created a beautiful world with a magic system that is so fun to learn and read about. Hadley and Fitz’s love is so wholesome and they’re one of my favorite fictional couples I’ve ever read about. Hadley is such a strong female lead-she’s goes through so much throughout the course of the story, and it’s so satisfying seeing her fall into the world she belongs with her found family. Each and every character you meet is so fun to root for and to get to know. If you love witches, elemental magic, incredible world-building, and loveable characters, please run don’t walk to grab Summoned!
As a fan of the original release of Summoned, I am so happy (and not at all surprised) that this book was everything and MORE than what I read before. MB is an incredible world-builder. It feels like you’re right there with the characters. And even more than that, the reader feels every single thing the characters are feeling. Phenomenal, immersive, beautiful, emotional, wonderful, everything! Don’t hesitate, dive in to the magical world of Summoned ASAP!!
If you love romantsy, witches, characters you just fall in love with, and otherworldly conflict, then Summoned is for you! Book one develops such an unbelievable connection into the Summoned universe and the characters that make it wonderful. The beautiful locations in the series just make the story that much more magical. This story is what brought me back into reading and I recommend it with all my heart! You will not be disappointed!
𝘚𝘶𝘮𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘥 is M.B. Thurman’s debut novel that is the first in a series depicting love, magic and mystery.
What an adventure this story took me on! From the streets of Paris to Edinburgh to the 1600s…an epic tale of love that breaks boundaries and a legacy of magic that lives in the hearts of generations. Fast-paced and enthralling!
I absolutely adored Hadley & Fitz, the two main characters. Their love and belief in each other was something that was sweet to read about. Hadley is on a journey of self discovery that echos so much of what we all go through: learning to believe in the power that we hold within. Fitz is teaching her how to tap into her witch heritage that’s been within in grasp all along; while they’re thrust into a battle that will challenge them both.
I honestly can’t wait to read the next book in the series and see where Hadley & Fitz’s story takes us! Loved this witchy, realistic fantasy, it captivated my attention and my heart. ♥️
This book is awful. I’m DNF’ing because of how bad the writing is. No thought to crafting character development, backstory, proper expositional dialogue, or even human sounding dialogue. I really wanted to love this but it sounds like it was written by a 15 year old on tumblr who really enjoyed using their thesaurus. The “romance” is written SO poorly as is…well, everything else. There are witches in this book and the author has made the choice to have them referred to in-universe as creatures. Oh and don’t get me started on the pitiful excuse for Scots dialogue. Terrible all the way around.
Summoned is an intriguing romantic fantasy with lots of mystery and a few surprises along the way. A well-written, fast-paced read that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat and leave you wanting more. This exciting adventure starts with the magical setting and captivating characters. Summoned reads like a movie with its twists and turns that are sure to have the reader second-guessing until the end. I look forward to reading more from the author and The Summoned Series.
MB has created such a wonderful world full of whimsy and good vibes. It’s hard to express the feeling I have reading this version of Summoned over a year after picking up the other version. She has grown so much as an author and the amount of passion she has for the world she has created is second to none. Thank you MB for not only writing this book, but also going the extra mile in everything you’ve done with it. I can’t wait to read crossed, and then the next book (and the next, etc.).
I can’t begin to describe how breathtaking the world that MB Thurman has created is. For an introduction this book packs a punch of mystery. You can tell the author took the time to fully craft her universe. With a focus on relationships, Thurman is able to build real world characters in a magical world. Bravo!
-Why am I getting a history lesson on a lady who died in the lake (which never gets mentioned again), but I have no idea what the FMC's name is yet!
-These time jumps are getting confusing. Going from present to past, back again, then past...future?
-This is roughly 95% dialogue.
-So dies and she gets HOTTER?
-Name-dropping every location in Scotland. Why the history lessons? We get it, she's a cultured, rich girl.
-Strange/stilted dialogue with her friends.
-They are hiding from "the government", even had a car chase... then go out in public, walk the streets of Paris, and go to a restaurant? How is that hiding?
-200+ pages of witch training abilities, all while drinking fancy alcohol, going to fancy restaurants, fancy hotels, flying private jets, dressing extra fancy, going on random trips, and staying in MMC's friend's fancy mansions.
-Endless talking! This could be trimmed down to the essentials. Conversations that move the story forward would be great. I'm getting lost in the fluff parts. Too much fluff!
-What are the STAKES? Where's the meat to this story? Nothing is really at stake.
-Page 352 Something is finally happening, we've got a bad guy! Here we gooooo!
- What in the hell
Final thoughts. Well, I feel bamboozled. 414 pages.
A young woman (Hadley) discovers she is a witch and that her ex and the love of her life (Fitz) - who essentially ghosted her and then told her to meet him in Paris - is her soulmate. Fitz starts to teach Hadley magic, while also telling her about his ancestors and a lost family heirloom.
The Wiccan Government recruit the pair for a special mission that will see them go to another world and fight a war against a Witch who wants to rule over humanity. The pair don't trust the Government but with so much at stake, they don't have much choice.
Their team consists of their family and friends - it seems odd just how connected the team is - will it be a strength or a weakness? With days to go before the mission starts Hadley and Fitz decide to get married to be bound together before they walk into god knows what.

immediately jumping into the next book in this series, i absolutely devoured this book & loved it so much. i love how unique the magic & the setting was; i feel like a lot of the romantasy & fantasy i have read recently feels recycled & leaves me feeling disappointed, but Summoned had me enchanted & wanting to discover all of the details. i loved the setting of the PNW in parts of the book, & it was so fun getting to read about places I have visited & picture the characters there. i loved the found family, and i can't wait to see how the characters continue to grow with one another.
Witches, forbidden romance, Scotland, and the Pacific Northwest, what more could a Twilight fan want?? The beginning is a little slow (pacing wise, probably because you’re meeting all the characters and flipping back and forth from 2 different timelines) but when it picks up boy does it pick up! I can’t wait to see what future books in the series have in store.
TYSM FOR GIVING ME THIS COPY, I ABSOLUTELY ENJOYED READING IT SO MUCH. FITZ IS MY FAVORITE CHARACTER CAN'T WAIT TO SEE MORE OF THEM. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND READING THIS BOOK, IT'S SO WONDERFUL. THE WORDBUILDING AND CHARACTERS ARE SO INTRIGUING I WANT TO LEARN MORE AND MORE ABOUT THEM. I JUST BOUGHT MYSELF THE OTHER BOOKS IN THE SERIES AND I CAN'T WAIT TO READ EM.
Summoned is such a fresh story. It doesn’t feel like anything I’ve ever read before. The way Thurman has created a world that feels and is unique to any other story is truly remarkable! The romance, the friendships, and the overall vibes are so inviting and just feel like home. Absolutely love it!
I have loved this series from the minute I got my hands on the first book, and this rewrite was a PRIVILEGE to witness the creation of. I have never loved a book series as much as this one. Absolute emotional rollercoaster I never want to be off of!
I love a good story with witches and this one did not disappoint! I love that we got to learn about this world through the eyes of Hadley while she was discovering that she was a witch and see her relationship with Fitz grow more and more after being a part from each other for some years. I was hooked from the very beginning until the very end. And that ending left me with so many questions rather than answers and I am now waiting for the second book to come out! The locations throughout the book seemed so stunning and how I wish I could actually be in Paris or Edinburgh right now. I also loved that the Pacific Northwest was included. I like seeing this part of the world talked about in the fictional world and not just in real life. Overall, this book was amazing and I recommend picking it up if you are into books that deal with witches and possible other worlds. I cannot wait for the second book to come out and to see what happens with Hadley and Fitz in their journey!
This story is so magical. MB’s use of descriptive words makes you feel like you are living the story right alongside Hadley. Reading this book is like falling in love and trust me you WILL fall in love with Fitz. He is the perfect amount of “who did this to you” mixed with “he lets her bejeweled”. Asides from Fitz and Hadley there is also an incredibly diverse cast, each of whom are so fleshed out and real. I just want to join them in Fitz’s flat for a pour of whiskey and some good old fashioned strategizing. They are truly a found family that has me rooting for them every step of the way. I loved this adventure and am already diving into the next book anxiously wondering where their journeys may lead.
Summoned took me on a journey of love, loss, redemption, discovering one's self, found family, and more—if you can even believe it—all wrapped up in a witch-centric Euro-set romantasy. Hadley's world had me absolutely perplexed as it was to east to take her journey alongside her. One of my favorite things about the book is that the love story isn't the primary focus. You fall in love with Fitz—and I certainly did—and then set off on an adventure with his hand in yours, without giving away any spoilers. I can confidently say that I'll be on the edge of my seat waiting for the sequel.
This story is unique in so many ways. I love the world that M.B. has created here. You can really immerse yourself into the story. If you follow the Summoned Instagram account you can meet the cast of characters that she has brought together to create a visual experience to go along with the series. I love that each character in the story has a distinct personality.
My one critique is at times I feel like it’s missing that “thing” that just makes you want to sit and read it without stopping. But that really depends on the reader and the types of stories they like.
Summoned is a fun witchy adventure filled to the brim with world building and sweet romance. MB does a wonderful job describing real world locations and making you believe that magic could really be hiding all around us. I particularly love that the romance between Fitz and Hadley was established before the book even begins - through the story we really get to see these two witches growing into their love for one another. I am already itching for the sequel!
The world M.B. Thurman has created thru Summoned, is one you'll want to submerge in. Hadley's journey to finding out who is she really is and how it's all connected throughout her life is an adventure all on its own. Add a Fitz, a cunning gentlemen (and did I mention HOT🔥) gentlemen into the mix makes for a story you won't soon forget. If you haven't picked this book up yet, what are you waiting for??
What a wonderful book and introduction to the world. It’s one of those books you pick up when you’re having a hard day and it just brings you comfort. From the love the and connection the main characters share, to the adventures, to the beautiful and enchanting world she paints. There’s also original music, events, and other content around this universe of summoned that just brings it to life even more. Can’t wait to watch this series grow and where M.B. Thurman will take us next.
Such a good book!! MB did such a good job with this storyline and did so good at delivering a great ending to make readers so exciting for the next book. It was kinda slow in the beginning but once everyone and everything got explained, it sped back up. I had the honor of meeting MB at the FTF event in Washington and she is such a joy to be around and she is doing great things!
This book pulls you into a such magical world. You feel like you're right there with Hadley as she begins to come into her power and learn more about herself. MB immerses you into the world of witches and fantasy and sets the tone for the journey ahead. Definitely recommend!
Love love love this book! Can’t wait to read the next one I read it bc of them being in Forks, (twilight) but stayed for the storyline. New fav fictional couple for sure.
