Ever since he came back from 'Nam, he's had trouble sleeping. Even his girlfriend's red robe, hanging on the back of the bedroom door, has become his nemesis.
One night, during the worst thunderstorm in Omaha's history, he has a visitor. He denies it's possible. How can it be real? Then he follows it outside.
Now, the police accuse him of killing his girlfriend. But he really knows what happened. Right?
Born and raised in Omaha Ne. I met the love of my life here and we were together for 30 years before he passed on 12-25-12. The stories that I'm publishing are his brain children. He loved writing, but never had any luck getting his stories published back in the late 1980's and early 1990's.
So now, with the advent of self-publishing and him glaring over my shoulder, I'm finally able to bring his children to life for the world of readers. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have. He had a wonderful but dark imagination. So much of himself and me are in these characters.
As authors our recognition comes from readers and their reviews. So please leave a review, whether good or bad, when done. They will be very much appreciated. Thank you.
This is a brand new release, and a short story that can easily be read in one sitting.
I really loved the atmosphere the book created. The way it starts off with everything being normal. Even a storm hitting is not unusual, except this one is particularly bad.
What I didn’t like is that how nightmares can come alive. How they morph into reality and it made me question that fine line been what’s real and what isn’t.
Overall, it it’s an excellent book as it sparks emotion in the reader. Towards the end of the story my heart was in my mouth. Definitely, very cleverly written, I recommend it – you should give it a try it.
I like psychological tales that make you question reality, and this story does that. It has disturbing elements from sources that ought to be mundane, but somehow aren't. Or are they?
Viewing the world from inside the rattled mind of the protagonist, you can feel the storm as it brews inside him and not just around Omaha. The style and voice lends a layer of eeriness to the rhythm, adding to the darkness. For me, that was a brilliant move on the authors side because it made it more real and disturbing. I felt as though I was too uncomfortable to fall asleep, which is where the character was.
I recommend this short story. It is original, which is one reason I love Sahara Foley's work. More so, it is entertaining. You never know what is going to happen next!
