WOW, what a ride this one was! Kylin, Malik, Tyllis, & Emilie travel to the Mortal Lands to speak with the witch, hoping she can provide assistance in finding Kylin's aunt and rescuing Ranael. She offers to help, but it will come at a cost - one that Kylin may regret agreeing to.

This book honestly had me on the edge of my seat throughout most of the book. We get to see lots more of Tyllis & Ranael in this one, and Kylin starts gaining more self confidence (which I love!). There are loads of twists in this one, and that ending!? Ugghhhh

Reader discretion advised: Don't expect to be in one piece while reading. 😭😭😭😭

I went into this book with excitement and expectations of an amazing read. Those expectations were trampled over, and so was my heart! I have SO much love for this book series it's unreal. I mean, I didn't really need my heart, or the tears I cried, they were just weighing me down!

This Fantasy Romance follows on from book 1, A Mortal Queen: Stolen, and lives up to the same amazing standard if not better. Each chapter has you gripped from start to finish, and unable to stop reading. If you haven't read book one, you need to go do that now, then come back to this one.

This is not an "I'll read a chapter before bed" book. You will not go to bed!

I highly recommend to readers who enjoy the likes of Sarah J. Maas, Holly Black, and Kristen Ciccarelli.

With Dragons, Wolves, Vampires, witches, and Elves, it really does tick all the boxes a fantasy lover could want.

Wow! Just wow! I loved book 1 so much, but 2 left me completely gutted! The amount of feelings and emotions I felt at the end have me wanting book 3 like yesterday so I can see what happens next! Amazing romantasy filled with great loveable and characters you love to hate!

4.5 star review, thanks to S.P. Woods for an advanced copy for my honest review.

2nd read audiobook review: loved experiencing the story once more

There is something beautifully unique about this series that keeps me transfixed and engulfed.
I fell in love reading book one, so it is no surprise that book two captured me as well.

In a diverse world featuring mortals, vampires, werewolves, dragons, and elves, SP Woods is sure to ensnare you in this beautiful fantasy story.

UHM WOWWWWWWWWWW

I loved the first book, I still think about that book often. I did not expect this book to be darker. But holy heck I loved it.

S.P. Woods is gonna have to hold my hand now cuz this book absolutely ruined me.

I think this by far is my favorite romantasy.
The world building is so so well done.
The characters are amazing.
The story is FANTASTIC.
Kylin is a BADASS.
Malik oh my Malik.

This is absolutely a series you need to read if you like vampires, elves, witches.
If not you are HIGHLY MISSING OUT.

Overall Rating~ 3.75

Summary Analysis~
This is my second dive into S.P. Woods’ work and I’ll say she has managed to build out the characters, plot, and emotional investment from the reader more with her second novel in the series. The story moves a bit slow until a risky rescue mission begins. I appreciate the trials and darker elements main character Kylin faces on the rescue mission but it did leave me longing for the greater group dynamic from the many established side characters. Overall, I enjoyed the complicated romantic relationships and tension that she built in the fight or perish moments.

Standout Characters~ Ranael (The bold protector) and Kylin (Hardened by trials protagonist)

Standout Aspects~
~ Great setup for future books in the series (ominous cliffhanger)
~ Genuinely dark scenes rescuing Ranael
~ Unique ways to bring back supporting characters from the first book

Wishes and Misses~
~The book’s pace had a lot of heavy hitting moments in the middle and very end, but I found myself taking reading breaks during the lulls found in the “trekking” and opening chapters
~ I wanted more friendship building moments between the rescue trio, not just romantic tension. I think it would help unify the three as having bonded over their trials endured and set higher stakes for the three in later works in the series
~ the ending felt a tad too similar to the first work and left me thinking, “Hmm did I see this coming” and “What happened to her new fighting moves?”

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I’ll be needing someone to pay for my therapy now, thanks. Seriously where’s the emotional support group chat? This is full of spoilers bc I need to talk about it.

I loved book one but this was seriously over the top for me I loved it so so much. The emotional rollercoaster it put me through. Whew. I love Ranael, I really do, but I felt so so bad for Malik this whole book.

Kylin’s journey and growth this book was seriously amazing. She got tired of feeling weak and powerless and trained her a*s off and conquered EVERYTHING thing in this book.

Can we talk about the way Malik handled finding out about Kylin and Ranael?? Oh my goodness, he handled it with such amazing grace and understanding and didn’t lash out in jealousy over Kylin being with Ranael after finding out she was missing memories of her relationship with Malik. We love to see it 😩 though I was upset that Ranael didn’t extend the same grace and give her space to figure things out.

I didn’t expect Kaden’s death to upset me as much as it did. And Kylin getting her memories back only to be taken away from both the men she loves?? Ugh I can only imagine how she’s feeling. I cannot wait to see all the trouble she causes being back in the elven court, they have no idea who they’re dealing with 🤩

P.S. if Kylin doesn’t end up with Malik this will be my villain origin story. I will not explain further.

A Mortal Queen: Beast by S.P Woods is book two in the A Mortal Queen Series. After reading the first book I could not wait to get my hands on this one. Needless to say I wasn’t disappointed, I read this so incredibly fast. I couldn’t put my kindle down. I will mention that you have to read these books in order as this one picks up right after the first book. Also be prepared because this book does end in a cliffhanger. I’m already a huge fan of fantasy and romance books but these just had something special in it, because I was captivated by this continuing tale. What I really loved about this was how the author was able to really build and expand on the already great worldbuilding. The characters and relationships were explored even more which just made me fall even harder for some of them. There was a good balance of plot and spice. Both were great and moments were it was another level. My favorite part is how S.P Woods was able to weave some of those twists and turns in this story. I was on the edge of my seat and clutching my kindle so tight from it all. And that ending!!! It’s an understatement how much I’m looking forward to more.

WOW! First off if you’re here and you have not read book one A Mortal Queen: Stolen stop what you are doing and go read that book first. You do not want to go into this book blind not knowing what is going on.

Now with that being said I absolutely loved book one and the ending left me definitely needing more. But book two A Mortal Queen: Beast has left my heart in pieces and the amount of need I have for book three now is going to drive me insane. Book two had everything I didn’t know I would need nor love in this book. It has heartache, love, battles, torture, betrayal, memories lost and found, vampires, werewolves, hybrids, mortals, elves, witches and dragons. A fight for power, a tough and fierce female character and a love triangle that I am hoping turns into more. This series has easily become a favorite of mine and once you start reading you will not want to stop. When I say I highly recommend this series I really mean it. Pick up book one and start reading you won’t regret it.

So I thought that the storyline for Book 1 was fraught with dire consequences - But wow, once the FMC goes to see the witch in Book 2, I was not expecting that plot twist or gut punch.

The trauma bonds that are introduced during this plot are heart breakingly beautiful. Through most of this book my jaw was on the floor trying to figure out how the book would likely conclude. However, I was not expecting that cliffhanger ending again! I have no idea where book 3 will take us after the twists and turns from this book.

Another beautiful romantasy addition that has all the tropes that kept me gripped throughout. The world building is delightful and bewitching and takes you on the journey with the characters.

I'll be eagerly awaiting the 3rd book to find out how our fierce FMC fights back this time!

Cliffhanger

This book picks up right where book 1 ended, which I loved given I got an ALC for Stolen earlier this year, and it was nice to know where I was picking up from.
One of the aspects I love about this series is the many many magical creatures that make up this world. Witches, dragons, elves, vampires, werewolves, and hybrids.
However, my absolute favorite thing and the reason why I can't put these books down is because you feel and process the emotions all characters are feeling even if they don't have a dialogue or a POV the way interactions and expressions are described you understand them, sure they piss you off sometimes and break your heart and make you feel stabby...but you understand where they are coming from.

Also, as with most of the books I read. I LOVE when fat characters are badass strong warriors and still live their best life being fat! Because Yes, fat ppl are active, strong, balanced, athletic, and amazing just the way they are.

It's a magical readit's ends in a cliffhanger, and it has left me in a book hangover.

Oh. My. God. 😱😱

That. Ending!!!! 😯😭

I cannot function. Oh my god. I'm freaking out. So much.

This book was so much more than I had imagined! It was better than my imagination! After everything that happened in book 1, I didn't think it possible for it to get so much more intense and soul-crushing than they did in this one. My heart is torn into so many pieces because of this that I don't know how I'll recover, I do know, that I definitely need book 3 and I wish I had it right now because I would have devoured it.

The witch. The deal. The rescue mission. The experimenting. The escaping. The hiding. The romance. The heartbreak. The prophecy. The festival. The battle. And the freaking ending! Omg.

This was so so so freaking good and I need book 3 so badly and I hope it gets released soon because aghhhh!!!

I have so many questions that need answers and one of them is hoping she can get both?! Please let her have both!!!!

An absolute page turner…

If you like fantasy with elves, vampires, witches, werewolves and so very much more then this series is for you! In less than a day I read books one and two in the “A Mortal Queen” series!
There is mystery, intrigue, action, adventure and romance all bundled into one great series. S.P. Woods if you ever read this please note you now have a fan for life! The character development and attention to detail is flawless; the characters and the story simply come alive for you. The second book picks up immediately after the first and ends leaving you grasping for what might happen next.
Will the prophecy be fulfilled, who will have a lasting relationship, what adventures will come next and how will the little mortal get out of the spots she keeps finding herself in.
It’s a classic good vs evil that pushes the characters to question what is truth vs. what is simply believed urging the characters to learn and grow stronger from their discoveries.

I didn't need my heart anyway...

This book follows the book 1 A Mortal Queen: Stolen where a young mortal girl is caught in a feud between the Elven and Vampire kingdoms.

Book 2 A Mortal Queen: Beast starts out strong sucks you in from the first chapter. I Literally could not put this book down, the world building, characters, relationships and spice are *Chef's Kiss*.

I love a book that completely throws you for a loop and gives you things you never expected... or knew that you wanted ;)

This Fantasy Romance is incredible Vampires, Elves, Werewolves, Dragons, Witches, Spice, Love, Loyalty and Betrayal.

Full disclose this book will end on a cliffhanger that will have you begging for book 3. BRAVO Sage!!

So I enjoyed Stolen, but I DEVOURED Beast!! I couldn't put it down. It picks up right where Stolen left off. Our MC's are hoping to find a way to rescue Ranael and Kylin's brother. I couldn't wait to see how the witch's "helpful" meddling would affect Malik and Kylin and how they would get through it. What a plot twist to start out with!

I liked that we got to see more of the world during their journey. I feel like SP Woods gives just enough detail to where you can paint a picture in your head of the different places, but it's still vague enough that you get to use your imagination to really see them - which I personally love!

Beast ends on quite a cliffhanger, so I'll be waiting very impatiently for #3!!

'A Mortal Queen: Beast' was one of my most anticipated reads of the year as I really enjoyed the first book and I'm surprised to say that my expectations were exceeded. This book was full of unexpected twists and turns and I was constantly invested in the story. I lost count of how many times I found myself staring blankly at the wall at new revelations, and even though I kind of knew what was going to happen next, the suspense kept me hooked. Although the fmc made some questionable choices, I adore her and I'm so glad we got to know her and other characters, like Ranael, better.

Overall, this book has become one of my favourite romantasy reads ever and I can't wait to get my hands on the third book in the series.

He is put through the wringer and honest my heart broke for him and I’m like noooooooo remember, remember and take him back!

This was an amazing read and I could not get enough!! Thank you for giving me yet again another cliffhanger!

This book is nothing like I imagined it would be... but omg did it surprise me!!! did I absolutely love it? YES. Did it break my heart into a million pieces and made me cry like a baby? BIG YES. Would I recommend this series? ABSOLUTELY YESS.

Book 1 A Mortal Queen (Stolen) is amazing but omg book 2 A Mortal Queen (beast) is just the perfect kind of pain, it will break your heart in the best way ever. Kylin’s character development is amazing she got so strong and I’m so proud and happy for her… she’s gone through so much I just need her to keep being strong and keep going.

Alsoooo the spice and the tension in this boooook omggg so good🫣‼️

MAKE SURE U READ A MORTAL QUEEN STOLEN BOOK 1 1ST BEFORE THIS ONE.

This book is a fantasy romance with dragons, vampires, shape shifters, wolves, elves, witches, and kings. Malik is an amazing vampire king. I absolutely adore him. Kylin, Avery, Tyllis, Emilie, Nick, Ranael I love all them and I just wish there wasn't a love triangle, gutted

This book broke me so bad. I feel so bad for Malik he is an amazing man. I'm still broken. Kylin makes me so angry like ughhhh I'm so gutted and destroyed. I so wanted to throw my Kindle so much reading this book cause it shattered me. Hopefully, book 3 can mend my heart back 2gether. This book leaves on a cliffhanger, and I need book 3 yesterday.

Oh this book is like breaking my heart piece by piece!! What happens after they see the witch, I did not expect. Honestly I'm shaking my head screaming NO!!! I was getting so mad because of what Kylin was doing. I hated the witch so much for what she did. I honestly wanted to scream every second. I feel like the witch did this for a reason and it gets me so mad! That witch was a dirty one.

There so many twist in this book that I couldn't keep up. I listened to it on audiobook, so I got more emotional with everything that was happening. And it made me so much more mad when I was hearing it. I can't wait for the next book! I need to know what happens!

This book was amazing. The continued story of Kylin, Malik, Ranael and the rest of the characters was so good. I couldn’t stop reading. I was lucky to be chosen as an ARC reader for book 3 in the series, Mortal Queen: Lightening. I am so grateful for this opportunity to read and review book 3. Mortal Queen: Beast ends on a hug cliffhanger hanger and I am so excited to see what happens next in this amazing series. So, if you love fantasy romance, this is definitely a series for you. This series has vampires, werewolves, elven, witches, romance and spice. Along with a great plot and storyline. I highly recommend this series. You will not be disappointed.

I am absolutely in love with this series! I thought that Malik was sexy and my new favorite shadow daddy. Boy way I wrong! Ranael! Phew!! That man is a burly sexy man.

I can’t get over this series. It definitely does give me major twilight vibes with the love triangle between a mortal, vampire and wearwolf/vampire hybrid. I’m here for it all day every day. The spicy scenes are *chefs kiss*. I absolutely love the action that is packed in it. The character build for Kylin is A1.

If you haven’t read this series, you need to! I’m on my way to read the third book now! Y’all need to get to reading!

Book two is even better than book one. After finishing this is 2 days all I can think is "You are a very cruel author S.P. Woods". If you are a fan of Vampire-Mortal-Werwolf drama then just go read this series. It has action, romance, magic, and torture. I like how Kylin has grown even if she tends to be a bit reckless with those who would follow her anywhere. Book 3 cannot come out soon enough.

Malik?!?! Ranael?!?!? WHAT THE FUCK?!?!?!

Kylin transitioned into a literal badass in this book! I was so proud of her.
The plot twists, the foreshadowing, the angst and the spice. Everything was perfect!
Now I'm eagerly waiting for the next book in the series.

WOW I have to say this is all around a step up from the first book and that's saying something! I love the direction the story is taking the characters, I never would have expected things to get so... COMPLICATED!

Let me just say that I was worried things might get stale after the way the first book left things, but right away I was hooked. Great pacing, character development, a rich fantasy world and SO much spicier than the first book!

The only downside is that I have to wait so long for the next one!

The second book of this series is a roller coaster of emotions! As Maylick and Kaylin try to find a way to save their friend, they will have to sacrifice much in order to make things right. The plot twist will test them in every way possible and nothing will be the same. Kaylin tries to find her lost family , but in doing so she might lose her love. This ends on a major cliffhanger, but I am loving it. You really get a feel for what the character is feeling and her turmoil of the decisions to come.

4/5 character development

This was the absolutely perfect sequel to a Mortal Queen: Stolen!

The angst, the suspense and most importantly the absolutely glorious rescue mission! Kilynn really is the perfect badass heroine, however I was a little weirded out by one part. All im saying is waterfall scene (iykyk). Well I guess it was hardly anyones fault, but still....

However, this series so far is an absolute page gripper (or headphone sticker(made me wish for infinite batteries)) and I really can't wait for the next book to come out!! It's been announced already too!

Thank you to S.P. Woods for sending me the audiobook in exchange for an honest review!! (I think it's really difficult writing reviews for books in series, because I don't want to spoil anything. Anyone else feel like that?)

This second installment of the Mortal Queen series did not disappoint! It picked up right where book 1 left off but took a drastic turn after Malik, Kylin, and their inner circle meet with a witch in hopes to save Ranael. Once a deal is made the unexpected happens especially after it’s complete; but something goes wrong. Revelations of the prophecy left me with more questions and curiosity. I can’t wait to see what revelations book 3 has in store!

This was an amazing read for me. This series has me in an absolute choke hold. The world building is phenomenal and the characters are amazing. This one was darker than the first book but still so amazing. I spent every free moment I could get reading it. It was so hard to put down. When I wasn't reading it I was thinking about it. If you enjoy Romantacy books with elves and vampires with some werewolves and dragons thrown in I highly recommend you pick up this series. You won't regret it.
