Katsuaki Nakamura (中村克明), pen name Katsu Aki (克・亜樹), is a Japanese manga artist best known for his works The Vision of Escaflowne, Futari Ecchi, and Psychic Academy. Mangaka Mine Yoshizaki is one of Aki's former assistants.
There is a lot happening in this volume of Psychic Academy! In the first chapter we have an interesting conclusion to Ai's aura battle with the American members of the A.D.C.. The second chapter takes us into familiar territory for the lovers of manga....The School Festival. Another twist, but this time it's kind of cute! There are a couple of Middle School kids I hope we see again. In the third chapter all the guy's favorite teacher, Chiroro, has been set up on a blind date by her mother! It's a great chapter that shows Katsu Aki's ability to write comedy. All the guys do what they can to stop Csiroro-Sensei from getting married and leaving the academy. Finally, the most shocking chapter so far. We learn a lot about Ren, Mew, and the inability of Kayaru to see a future for Ai and Orina. And then, fasten your seat belt, because while on a special date, Ai and Orina end up at a...............no spoilers.
The love triangle consists of Ai, the boy, and Orina and Mew, the girls. Orina is drawn as being very lovey dovey; it makes her less interesting. I gave this a fourth star because the ADC story seems interesting.
I loved the American ADC story arc - we got to see both Ai and Zero be cool! Yay! Also loved learning about all of Zero's choices to protect Ai through Gabriella. Very enlightening. I also loved Mew chatting up her dad and then trying to save Ren.
BOTTOM LINE: I love all the different relationships we are exploring here.
*Note: there is quite a bit of fandom in this manga. (Really large breasts, "squishing" and touching of those breasts by Ai, many breast shots and girls in undress as well as girl on girl breast groping.)
