*From the prolific creator of 18 manga titles including the best-selling series Escaflowne *TOKYOPOP to release animated series on DVD Fall 2005 Before they can have some hot fun in the summertime, Ai, Orina and Mew help Zero investigate a mysterious stray aura at a seaside camp. Once there, it's apparent that all psychically gifted people experience the same dream--a beautiful sunset overlooking the ocean. Is this some sort of environmental message? Or is someone fooling with Mother Nature?
Katsuaki Nakamura (中村克明), pen name Katsu Aki (克・亜樹), is a Japanese manga artist best known for his works The Vision of Escaflowne, Futari Ecchi, and Psychic Academy. Mangaka Mine Yoshizaki is one of Aki's former assistants.
This highly enjoyable manga from Katsu Aki continues to entertain in volume five. No spoilers on the first part of this book, because it's the conclusion of a story from volume four. In the next chapters we follow Ai, Mew, and Onria on their school vacation. Ai and Onria invite Mew to join them in their home town. This certainly complicates things for Ai. Mew and Onria are roommates and good friends, but truth be told, they both have a deep feeling for Ai. And there is another complication! Ai has a powerful and emotional aura dream. It's a dream that could change various relationships. And finally we are faced with a cliffhanger. Senior members of the Aura Development Center arrive from the U.S.A., and it's their intention to take Ai back to America with them. Great read!
I was split on this volume. The beach arc was boring but I really liked when the American branch of ADC visited and Ai fought Zieu. The whole idea of the dream - I'm not sure I'm a fan, I guess its part of Asian fatalism.
BOTTOM LINE: Golems, best friends, on my.
*Note: there is quite a bit of fandom in this manga. (Really large breasts, "squishing" and touching of those breasts by Ai, many breast shots and girls in undress as well as girl on girl breast groping.)
