Eight months ago, I took on my abuser, and I won. I also fell in love with the most amazing man. Two months later, I left Aurora to find out about my parents, and whatever power was hidden within me. An unshakable, uneasy feeling had been eating at me, nagging me to find out more. To do that, I had to find the woman who sold me off into slavery, my foster mother who left me with more questions than answers. And, to top it off, when Thierry and I do reunite, he informs me things are not well and everything is about to change. Now I have a rabbit hole to dive down to get to the bottom of the chaos and save both Aurora and the Feywilds. However, neither of us expected our friend, the Dark Elf, Ashwind Stormfront, to show back up or for him to have the hold on me as he does, throwing a wrench into my already rocky relationship. Just another day with Fae prophecies, pissed off Elven Princesses, and stubborn men, right?
I just love a self aware heroine! Zera's journey with PTSD is hard, even with an abuser behind bars. But having to track down 2 others... she's gotta a monstrous load on her shoulders. Zera's quips and explanations to Thierry show she handles herself with grace and a strength that never wanes. With Ash making their duo a trio, he provides an understanding amd safe place for Zera, I love him! Their journey to stop the monsters and bring Belladonna and Caith to justice kept me on my toes. I can't wait to see what the Child of Autumn brings us in Scent!

I received this book as an arc. I loved the adventure of the characters. Learning how to live with an amazing power is hard. Zara, was a strong woman, who had a bad past but she grew stronger from it.
Loved this book so much. I couldn’t put it down. The chapter development was amazing as well as the storyline. Bringing smaller characters from the first book back in big ways in this book made it all the more interesting. 10 out of 10 would recommend.
Yet another fantastic book from K. Marie Smith. Once I started, I just couldn't put this book down. It's always amazing seeing someone who was abused get their justice, and man, Zera is defitely working at that. I can't wait for the next book to come out!
