My favorite tropes are in this book friends to lovers, single parent, second chance, and mafia romance. This is the first book I've read by this Author. However, I would recommend reading the others before reading this one. Delicate Consequences is the story of Max and his childhood sweetheart Jem, who is a strong, single mother that appears back into his life after ten years. Max is so protective and kind towards Jem. I can not wait for the next one!! I absolutely loved this book!!

I'm a true sucker for pure, first, teenage love and Max's with Jem's relationship is a nice example of this kind of love.
Even though their teenage interest never evolved after ten years they meet again the inevitable happens. When Jem desperately needs to save her and her daughter's life she flees from her abusive husband to Max.
Max is over the moon that his teenage sweetheart is back but has a long way to go as her trauma is a great obstacle.
I really liked the plot of this book and the detailed description of Jem's feelings. Somehow Sophie managed to depict so explicitly all her abuse scene- not triggering though- as if I was living it!
Maxie is such a sweet notorious guy...
And one more bonus was Axel's behavior toward Gracie - Jem's little daughter.
I highly recommend it!

This is the 3rd book in this series. This one was about Jem and Max. They met on her first day of high school. She had just moved to the city with her parents. She met Max first he helped her find her way to her first class. In that class she met Jaz who turned out to be Max’s twin sister. They all were inseparable from that day on. One day Jem and her father left town and it tore Max up. They ended up moving to Chicago her father didn’t want to stay there any longer after her mother passed away. He blamed Max’s family. So they lost touch after that. On Jem’s 21st birthday she met Blake and they married years later. On Christmas Eve she left Blake with Gracie their daughter. This book had a lot happen in it. I highly recommend this series. Sophie is an amazing writer.

Unlike the others in the series, our MMC has met and lost the love of his life.
Max and Jem get the second chance to be together they both deserve. I loved how this book was different from the others with the flashbacks to Jem's past that pushed her back into Max's life.
Max is the gentle and brooding bad boy with a mushy inside reserved for Jem.
Even though they deserve to be together, the road to their HEA is anything but easy. Each of them harbors doubts of deserving the other, plenty of broken bits of their souls and a few secrets in the mix, this story had me shedding a few tears.
Sophie's ability to craft these delicious men is top notch!

Childhood sweet hearts and then pulled apart when when Jem moves
Max always thinks of Jem and her him then one day she turns up at his front door

I really enjoyed this book. It had a great story that had lots of twists and turns to keep you hooked on it. The relationship between Max and Jem made me fall in love with the pair of them, I loved how they were always there for each other. Fantastic read, can’t wait for the next in series!

It’s safe to say, Max is probably my Favorite, it’s so hard to choose, each of the Five embody something I want and crave, but Max is truly the whole package. Max is quiet, calm, the reserved one out of The Five, there’s something mysteriously intoxicating about that, you know he’s dark and can end you with a twist of his fingers, yet you’re aching to find out if you can see his into his soul. He’s lethal and dangerous but there’s a security you crave and want.
The story opens up with Jem and her daughter Gracie on the run with the help of her best friend/neighbor. She shows up unexpectedly at Max’s doorstep on Christmas Eve (perfect gift if you ask me 🤍). To say Max is dumbfounded is an understatement, he’s instantly flooded with memories of the last time he saw Jem, a decade ago.
The timing couldn’t have been worse, Axe was shot hours before, everyone is in hyper vigilant state. But Max swore if he ever had the chance to see Jem again, he’d wouldn’t miss the opportunity to tell her what’s been in his heart and soul since they first met 14 years ago in HS.
Just when you think you have it all figured out, there’s surprises at every corner, kept me eagerly on my toes, not at all what I was expecting!
Will Jem stay long enough to build on what she’s always wanted with Max? Or will her never ending fear propel her to live a life on the run? Will she finally trust Max, who she knows deep down, will move the world for her and Gracie?
Is it enough for her to stay and fight or is she too far gone and emotionally/mentally damaged?
Will Max be able to keep Jem and Gracie safe while there’s turmoil going on within The Five? Will he be able to balance and protect both his brothers and Jem?
This story flows smoothly, is dark and dangerous yet heartwarming and beautiful, it’s realistic and easy to get lost in their world, we all need a “Maxie” in our lives 💯🫶🏽

I loved this story right from the beginning and has some serious problems putting it down when I had free moments to read. This is certainly a stand alone that is rather long but don't let that fool you. The chapters are relatively short and super easy to read. My only regret was starting with this book instead of book 1 in the series- complexly unnecessary if you are reading but my OCD was triggered because I didn't start from the beginning.
I think Jem and Max were adorable and the perfect person for each other. Despite the 10 year separation, it is like they picked up where they left off in some regards and didn't look the gift horse in the mouth so to speak. They both knew it was a gift that they were with each other again and despite some reservations, especially from Jem after all she had gone through (which made me want to punch Blake so many times, especially at the end. He was a downright monster and I am glad he got what was coming to him finally even if the ending should not have happened that way). I loved that there was some hesitation in their coming back together and that after 10 years apart and many more hiding their feelings, they didn't just jump right into bed and be with each other. There was a building of trust and a period of becoming comfortable in her new surroundings that I think made me love their relationship and love for each other more than i would have if they had just picked up like nothing had happened.
I also adored Gracie and loved to see just how she brought 5 strong men to their knees as a child. She had all of those men eating out of the palm of her hand, especially Max and Axel, and it was really funny to see just what she was capable in terms of getting what she wanted. I also really loved that we got to see her be as strong as her mother. She certainly didn't have an easy early life and while it is unknown just how much she saw between her parents and how much of a monster her father was, she certainly got an eyeful in the end despite Jem's fervent attempts at protecting her but she preserved like her mother always did and I for one loved reading that.
I will certainly be going back and reading the rest of this series because they are great reads, with just the right balance of detail, background and spice. I have found a new author to add to my auto reads list.

While this story can technically be read as a stand-alone I definitely recommend reading it in order.
Max and Jem's story is a lot darker and heavier than the first two but it was just what I was looking for right now. There are little pockets of humor, fluff, and feel-good moments that make up for the heavy times. If you, like me, love a man who is soft and cutesy with his woman but a total "don't mess with me" and "burn the world down" to the outside world, you will LOVE Max. I absolutely loved watching Gracie bring five grown, stone-cold, mafia men to their knees and wrap them around her little finger. As for Jem, she shows that what you go through does not have to break you forever. Watching her heal, with the help of her found family, and be able to accept Max's love was awe-inspiring. She truly shows that we are stronger than what we go through and that we are truly never broken.

I absolutely love the Notorious Five series but this book is hands down my favorite! Max has officially become one of my top 5 book boyfriends this year.
Max and Jem knew each other when they were younger but lose touch when Jem’s father moves her away. Although they both move on with their lives, they never stop thinking about each other.
Jem ends up in an incredibly abusive marriage. When she decides to escape with Gracie she goes to the first person she thinks of, Max. She shows up at his door asking him to stay for only one night while she comes up with a plan. Max doesn’t hesitate to take them in and give them both a home, protection and the love they desperately need and wants them there much longer than one night.
I absolutely loved Jem’s character. She has been through hell but will risk anything for Gracie. She loves her and has a motherly fierceness that will do anything to keep her safe. She knows all about the Notorious 5 and what max does but it doesn’t’ bother her at all. Max is completely Alpha will kill anyone to keep his family safe but the softness he shows Jem and Gracie will make your heart melt and honestly just makes him ten times HOTTER!
The chemistry between Jem and Max is off the charts. They are ridiculously perfect for each other and I couldn’t get enough of them. The steamy scenes were written perfectly! The way their relationship and love grows throughout the book without unnecessary drama makes it even better. This series has started my love for Mafia books and I cannot wait for the next book to come out!

In Delicate Consequences we meet Jem and Max who have known each other since they were teens, and only ever remained best friends, even with the undeniable attraction they shared. An unspoken connection, neither one ever acted on it, and both regret not doing so. Jem left their hometown abruptly with her father at the age of 18 even with Max begging her to stay with him, completely breaking his heart!
Fast forward ten years and Jem is now knocking on Max's door for help. Fleeing an abusive relationship with her daughter, not trusting anyone, Max is the only one Jem feels safe turning to. Max is immediately protective of the two, determined to make sure they remain safe as if it hadn't been a decade since he last saw her. They easily fall back into place; falling in love with each other all over again.
A friends to lovers, second chance, mafia romance; Delicate Consequences brings emotion and passion! My heart broke for Jem always feeling like she had to look over her shoulder, but I loved how Max was willing to do anything and everything to show her that she deserved love and was safe with him.
After reading Delicate Consequences, I definitely have to go back and read the first 2 in The Notorious Five series! You can read this as a standalone but there are characters from the previous books that play major roles in this book so I recommend reading from the beginning to understand their relationships with each other. I can't wait for the next one in this series!

“Do not underestimate how I feel about you, baby. My love is there to protect you.”
This book brought out all the feels! The way Jem always knew that Max was her safe place and the way Maxie loved and accepted both Jem and Gracie unconditionally made this story so freaking beautiful. But it wasn't always sunshine and rainbows, especially for Jem.
I believe Sophie did an amazing job at portraying the struggles of a person who is in an abųsıvə relationship and how even if the person is able to leave, that doesn't mean that they will not continue to struggle with aftereffects of the abųsə they were put through, be it emotional or physical. Aside from this, I feel like Gracie played a major role im the story, and not just in the usual "single parent" trope way. From Gracie’s first appearance, we see how all of the members of The Five are immediately taken by her and ready to do anything for her. I loved the way Max treats her as his own, no questions asked, and he wouldn't make a decision without thinking about how it would affect her. I really hope we get to see her in the Notorious Legacy.
Also, I gotta say that the epilogue was the cherry on top. I loved seeing all the girls together. The chemistry between them is what I want in any group of friends. They had me screaming and laughing the whole time.

You love Mafia romance? Than this is your book. Delicate Consequences is the third book out of the notorious five book series, written by the amazing Louise Hope.
Jem lives her life trapped in an abusing marriage for years. When she finally finds a way to leave, she and her daughter go to the only one on her mind. Max. She never forgot the Boy from her childhood, who became a man by now. A very powerful man. And he never forgot her either. Can he be her light at the end of the tunnel, even though it's not quite over yet? Is there still a Chance for the two of them to be what they always should be?
The relationship between Jem and Max is super sweet but at the same time the steamy scenzes between the two of them are 🔥. Louise Hope found a perfect way to Deal with the Theme of abuse and how people try to Deal with the aftermath. The third book is slightly different to the previous two but it lacks in nothing. This book has been all I can think about for the past 3 days! If I had to put it down, I was trying to imagine where the story would lead.
Please make sure to check trigger warnings before reading because this book is much darker than the previous 2 in the series.

This book did not go the way that I expected it to, but I was so there for the way that it did go.

This is book 3 of the Notorious Five series and I would recommend that you read the previous books, not necessarily for the story but because they really build to this one. Jem and Max have been friends since they were teens, but that's all they have ever been (not that they didn't want more, it didn't happen because of the machinations of others). Then Jem is forced to go on the run with her daughter and Max is the only person that she trusts to protect her.
I love a story with grumpy outsider vibes but he has a heart of gold for that one special person. That one special person can make him all mushy, a side no one else sees. He's so tough to the rest of the world but he will move that world for her!

So with this one as the 2 before I read them as chapters were posted then once the ARC was released I reread it again. I suggest reading the first 2. Now let’s get to the review! This book in the series was very sweet but also very real. The things the lead female character went through was horrific and unsettling but damn was she tough. Mama bear through and through. You meet her daughter Gracie who is a spitfire I adore that little girl, then there is Max there is a thing about those silent types that just draw me in. I find this book pulls from the first two but then leads into more dark mafia stories to follow.
Plus let’s get real all of us ladies would love to smash these men. 🥵
Honestly if you haven’t been on this ride with this series you better buckle up start at the beginning because I know it’s only going to keep getting gritty. 😉🔥

Dark heartbreaking but so sweet
Max and Jemma have a love story that began as kids and never really ended. They met each other as young teens and once Jem became friends with his twin sister the bond they shared extended past the day she said goodbye at 18.
In an abusive marriage jem knows she has to disappear with their daughter Gracie and she can only think of one person who can help her, max.
This mafia romance is everything I could hope for! Dark and heartbreaking and sexy and sweet all rolled into one. Like the previous books all of the stories meld together seemlessly and add on to each one. we see a side of max and all of the notorious five that is completely in contrast to their reputation of hard men who take no prisoners. Trigger warning this book speaks heavily on abuse that jemma suffered at the hands of her husband and is quite hard to read at times.

Awesome Book
This is book 3, of the " Notorious Five series." This book was Awesome. I couldn't , put it down. I was hooked, on this book, from page 1. Please read the triggers warning,before reading , this book, its much darker than the other two. Also, Please read, the first two books in the series, first , to understand these characters. 💓 Max and Jenn and Gracie.

Max Max Max. He is so stony and quiet in the first two books, that I didn’t quite see him coming.
This book is an emotional roller coaster. Jem is a strong, but traumatized FMC escaping her abusive husband, and Max, one of the Notorious Five, is her childhood sweetheart. And yes, he DOES want to know who did that to her, and he WILL burn the world to protect her.
This whole series is so cleverly written, with the books overlapping each other in such a clever way. It’s hot, action-packed, exciting and swoon-worthy. It’s also dark, gritty, and up front about Jem’s trauma and abusive experiences. If that’s a trigger for you, consider yourself warned.

I absolutely loved this book. As I have with this whole series so far!!
I've been waiting on Max's story and i was not disappointed at all! He is so loving and possessive towards Jem! And he turns into a major softie when it comes to Gracie! The friends to lovers that were reconnected was amazing!
Jem, I love her story so much. You can't help but to love her and as the story goes on and you find out more about her past it makes your heart melt for her
The whole plot had me hooked and the little twist towards the end was jaw dropping.
I also love how connected the series is, you get little snippets from the other books to remind you whats going on!
I can't wait to read the next one

Second Chance, Dark, Amazing Mafia Read!!!
Max and Jem are childhood friends that just as their friendship starts progressing to the next step, they are pulled apart. Fast forward and the two are once again reunited but lots of things have occurred over the past 10 years. There are a lot of dark themes throughout this book and one should pay close attention to the trigger warnings. The darkness is essential in the development of this world and the story of Max and Jem. I loved how these two were able to come together, overcome such darkness and begin a life with one another. I can’t wait to see what comes next!!

Delicate Consequences is a page turner I couldn't put down.
Literally, I started reading it at 7:30 am and finished by 9 pm. I did nothing else with my day but come up for food, water, and the loo.
The chemistry between Jem and Max is fire. The plot - who wouldn't love a good bad boy with a heart of gold? The history the two characters shared was something that drew me in from the start, but add in a love that never had the chance to bloom - that's pure magic right there and L. Hope KNOWS how to deliver.
I loved all of the supporting characters and the dynamic they created within the story - their loyalty, their personalities. Literally everything.
On the topic of L. Hope's writing, she has a beautiful way with words and the entire story flowed seamlessly. No errors, no plot holes, and no inconsistencies.
This is one book I would highly recommend to anyone who loves a good mafia love story.

Mafia stories are a relatively unexplored genre for me but I definitely am growing to love them. I adore Max and his devotion to Jem and her daughter Grace!
Jem is always the kind type of heroine I like to read. Caring, strong and unflinchingly protective while still being vulnerable and soft. Her chemistry with Max is unbelievable.
This novel is a bit on the dark side (my fave but be sure to skim those TWs). The spice is there for sure and so is the action which is a must for any mafia book.

Wow…. Where to begin! This book had me on a serious emotional rollercoaster. But that’s what amazing books written by incredible authors do! You feel like you’re there living every moment with the characters in real time.
This story was of long lost love being reunited after years of being apart only to find it was always there never really lost despite distance & hell of a lot of time. They find love in its most pure & unconditional form. Truly a beautiful love story! I have no doubt book 4 will knock our socks off since Louise Hope keeps continuing to one up herself! She’s amazing!

Wowza! Second chances are amazing!
Max and Jem are amazing together! I honestly love these two. Jem is obviously afraid and overwhelmed by her past, but Max is so considerate and compassionate with her that it is a true love story.
Reunited after ten years, the love they have always felt for each other was still there. I said it about Axel and Cassie in book one of the Notorious Five Series, and I will say it again. Max and Jem are couple goals. The love and devotion I felt between the two was astounding.

What a whirlwind! If you've been reading the series you know what is coming the entire time and are completely on edge waiting for it to happen! I loved getting snippets of their backstory throughout the book. I think my favorite part of these books is how much they overlap. It's not necessary to have read the others to understand the story but each book completes the previous books just a little bit more. Little revelations sprinkled all throughout. I love the creativity!

The deeper we get into the series, the more in depth the plots get and I love it. I really enjoy how the timelines overlap, and we’re reminded of what happened in the previous books. This story is different from the other two in that there’s some pretty serious traumatic events that occur, and I thought those scenes were really well written. I can’t say that Max & Jem are “favorite” characters out of The Five & their women, but definitely likable and believable characters.
