Brewing Temptation

Noel

Mistyvale, Alaska, was a far cry from my hometown of Tampa, Florida, the fog-shrouded emerald mountains markers of my fresh start. A new beginning, as far away from my psycho ex-boyfriend as possible without leaving the country. I was prepared to settle in a new, tiny town and the challenges that came with it. What I wasn’t prepared for was the tattooed, surly, sexy fisherman next door.

Jameson Rhodes was the kind of man that would melt women and shamelessly return them to their loved ones in a liquid state contained in a damn mason jar.

Would five-thousand miles be enough to start my new life, or would my troubles transform the town grump into my own personal superhero?

Jameson

As a third-generation fisherman, my plan has always been to uphold the tradition of the Rhodes Away and look after this damn town. At least, it was until my brother came home to visit and left trouble on my doorstep in the form of a five-foot-two, red-haired bombshell with an attitude problem.
Noel McShane was a walking tornado of sass and sex appeal, wreaking havoc on my once simple life. She tore onto my island and somehow, I found myself in uncharted waters, playing her fake boyfriend to keep her monster of an ex at bay.

With my family legacy on the line, could I resist her colors, curls and chaos, or would she capsize even my best laid plans?

I received a copy of the ARC for this book and let me just say this it DID NOT disappoint. You fall in love automatically with the main characters. And you fight for the idiots to finally admit their feelings for each throughout the book. You will develop a new kink I definitely unlocked a new one. The passion and love and support of community is so thick through this story. Sydne Barnett may be creeping up on Colleen Hoover and might just be the next best thing! Loved this book! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!!

First, thank you Sydnee for letting me receive this ARC for an honest review!!

OH MY GOODNESS. Jameson Rhodes is the perfect epitome of a grumpy protector. That made had me swooning left and right with his actions. He always put Noel first, even when he did not even realize it. Noel is SO freaking relatable. I saw a lot of myself in her character, especially when it came to her stubbornness and letting pride win over logic in some situations. Because honestly, I would have handled it the same way as Noel LOL. I just freaking adore her. Jameson was always battling his attraction and want for Noel, but that made the slow burn on them SO. MUCH. BETTER. It was entirely worth the wait. Jameson's mouth is as fire as his actions. Their banter is top tier and had me straight up cackling so many times. I could not get enough of these two.

And then throw in all the rest of the Rhodes family, blood or not, and it was such a fun time. You can feel every bit of love on the page between this family with their insistent teasing of one another. I am like Noel again in the aspect of being from a smaller family that are close, but not as close as this. It warms my heart and honestly had me tearing up a good bit, especially when Juniper comes in with her wisdom. Jameson and Noel's love story was just so captivating from beginning to end.

A seamless transition into the sequel for the second book of the Nomadic Rhodes series. We get to see a little glimpse of Brexley and Rhyett and how their life is going as they help more her best friend and business partner away from her abusive ex boyfriend to Rhyett’s hometown. The Rhodes family is loving, accepting, chaotic, and loud. But, once you belong to them, you are theirs. Noel immediately fits in.
Being an interim manager for Rhyett coffee shop is the perfect fit.
This slow burn romance has everything including the perfect nicknames!
Unfortunately, Alaska may not be far enough away for Noel to escape her past. How will Jameson deal. Will Noel let him into her life? Will they fall in love? Will she stay?

Thank you Sydne Barnett for selecting me to be an ARC reader!

*Read the trigger warnings before starting this book!

But that being said, I loved this book! Sydne had me hooked by the end of chapter 1, I had an insane amount of trouble putting this book down at all. The attention to detail was amazing, making it feel like you were really in the story with Noel and Jameson.

Their story was written so well, who doesn't love a sunshiney girl who gets the town grump to love her against his better instincts. Not to mention the mouth on him *fans myself*. This book has easily made it to my favorites and I can't wait to see what's next for the Nomadic Rhodes Series!

4.75⭐️/ 3-4🌶️

I absolutely LOVED AND ADORED the first book in the interconnected series of Nomadic Rhodes! The first book was all about Brexley and Rhyett’s romance which was FANTASTIC! As you could imagine, with the way the first book ended, I was waiting with bated breath for this book! Noel and Jameson’s story! Yay! Sydne Barnett once again brought smiles to my face and had me falling in love with her another of the Rhodes men! Phew! This story focused on Noel as she wanted to get a fresh start after dealing with her horrible ex boyfriend, and getting away from all the hurt and pain he caused her. Coming to Mistyvale, the small town in which Rhyett, Jameson, and the rest of the Rhodes clan lived was the perfect place for Noel to start clean. Jameson was the grumpy brother, who didn’t care too much when it came to romance, but focused on his energy on his family’s fishing boat. Jameson and Noel were opposites in Noel was colorful and sassy whereas Jameson was simple and a bit of a grump. Within the small town of Mistyvale set as the backdrop to this story, it created a cozy yet new environment for Noel and I throughly enjoyed all parts of reading this lovely yet also eye opening story.

If you’ve read the first book, you’ll know that with the cliffhanger at the very end, there was something that happened with Noel. While you don’t have to necessarily have to read the first book, I would recommend reading it because, one you get to see Rhyett and Brexley’s romance, but also see some details in Noel’s backstory. Anyways, Noel had thought she was in love with a wonderful man, but it turned out that man, ahem dumb Eric was a complete waste of a man, and absolute trash! Noel had endured physical abuse by Eric, and after finally getting the courage to get help, Noel turned to Brexley and Rhyett. Just a heads up, check the trigger warning before reading as this story does deal with abuse, and some other triggers. First off, I really loved how both Brexley and Rhyett were there to help and support Noel with all that she went through, as if I didn’t love those two characters enough already, my love for them grew exponentially! Noel felt sad, angry, and felt like a fresh start somewhere would help her, but also allow her the chance to get away from the memories of Eric. While this story did have romance, it also focused on Noel’s mental health and self healing journey from all that she endured.

From the start, not only was I happy to be back within the world alongside all these amazing characters, but I was LOVING THE BANTER between Noel and Jameson. Say what you will about Jameson being a grumpy man, but even he had his moments of lighthearted humor when teasing and pushing Noel’s buttons. Noel was already a sassy and fierce character in the first book, but seeing her against Jameson added a more entertaining and engaging element in their banter. I also found it hilarious that Jameson nicknamed Noel, “skittles” because of her bright clothing haha I mean, he wasn’t wrong, Noel was bright and stood out with her personality and as she would say fashionable sense of style.

The close knit clan of the Rhodes family were all amazing. Even living in a small town of Mistyvale where everyone knew each other, the Rhodes were especially well known, and loved. While reading, I loved seeing how each and every one of the Rhodes family welcomed and embraced Noel into the family. Especially in a time of need and just finding a new sense of peace, being surrounded by those loving people really helped in Noel’s path to healing. Plus, getting to see more of Jameson and his siblings made me not only love them more, but get to see the funny, close knit dynamics within the family. If you love the found family trope, this book and series is the perfect one to read!

Did somebody say, FAKE DATING? Because, YES! When needing to get rid of your horrible ex boyfriend in an effort to get him to leave you alone, when in doubt just have one of the gorgeously handsome Rhodes men to pretend to be your man, which was EXACTLY WHAT JAMESON DID FOR NOEL! Jameson was already starting to fall for Noel with all her bubbly, sunshine personality so, when the chance to help her by pretending to be her boyfriend came up, he just went for it! I liked how even within the story Noel would point out how she had read many fake dating romance books and knew exactly what to expect haha little did Noel know she was going to end up the same way like the characters in the books she read… OBVIOUSLY FALLING FOR HER FAKE BOYFRIEND! Jameson and Noel already had great banter, and strong chemistry building in the beginning so, when the fake dating came into play, it just set them on another level of intimacy, flirtation, and a WHOLE LOT OF DELICIOUS TENSION! YASSSSS! OOOOO AND THAT FIRST KISS MOMENT! (Sigh) had me panting with what Jameson told Noel right after their first kiss! Add in the slow burn romance with the fake dating and it was CHEF’S FREAKING KISSES EVERYWHERE! I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE BUILD UP! Can’t you tell from my excitement?!

JAMESON RHODES MAKE ME YOUR WOMAN! OMG! I ABSOLUTELY LOVED JAMESON! I love a grumpy man, but add in him being an alpha protective man who’s also low key a total softie, I’M GOING TO LOVE HIM OBVIOUSLY! Jameson was everything and not to mention that man was all about praising Noel. Best believe I was jumping in glee and going feral when I read the parts Jameson called Noel a, “good girl”! WOOOOO YASSSSSS! Jameson was a total man in and out of the bedroom, but most importantly he was the man that made Noel feel safe and at peace. I adored the way Jameson talked about Noel, especially in his point of view, ugh I was out here melting over the way he couldn’t stop worrying about her, and making sure she had everything she needed to feel safe, but also know she had the entire Rhodes family to support her. Lots of love from not just Jameson, but regardless he was enamored with Noel, and I was loving every single second of it!

If there’s one thing you should take away from this story is that, if you’re in a similar situation like Noel went through, please know you are not alone. This story illustrated all that Noel went through from her struggles, her journey to finding her new peace, love, and gaining even more of a stronger support system. This book further highlighted the lengths the whole Rhodes family went through when it came to protecting their own, and Noel was effectively part of that family! I loved the close knit family within the Rhodes family, and while it was shown in the first book, I feel like I got to see and get to know more of Jameson’s siblings. There was lots of humor, great banter, fake dating, grumpy/ sunshine, and a slow burn romance that was WELL WORTH THE WAIT AND BUILD UP WOO! Jameson and Noel had GREAT CHEMISTRY TOGETHER! The tension between those two kept getting better and the steam coming off those two was HOT! I absolutely adored seeing Jameson turn into a softie with Noel and his protective instincts truly came in full force which was amazing. I honestly had a fun time reading this book, and much like the first book, I couldn’t put this down! I was fully invested and needed to know every aspect of what was happening with Jameson and Noel! I’m throughly excited to see what the next book will be about! If you love a small town, slow burn romance with grumpy/ sunshine, fake dating, found family, humor, and an overprotective alpha male, this book has all that and more!

Sydne Barnett, THANK YOU for selecting me as an ARC reader for your book, in case my rating didn't make it clear, I absolutely adored this story.

Brewing Temptation is the second standalone in an interconnected series called the Nomadic Rhodes featuring Noel and Jameson's story. Starting out, THIS BOOK, OMG SYDNE, I was grinning, kicking my feet, squealing, losing sleep as I got absorbed and thrown back into you Rhodes world. My God woman, these men.. THESE MEN. Why can't an island called Mistyvale full of book boyfriend level, knows how to treat a woman, sexy as f*ck men exist? why? As our beloved Josie has said "Can you save me one of those brothers? I'm not picky"

After absolutely loving and adoring book one with Brexley and Rhyett's journey, I was so beyond excited to come to this follow up with Brexley's best friend Noel and Rhyett's brother Jameson. The Grumpy/Sunshine trope was hard in this one, and I loved every single second of Jameson's grump, because behind the grump? was a big ol' teddy bear softy and it was just so good. The banter? the way they MET? the small town? all of this was top tier.

Check Trigger Warnings before reading this book!!

In this book we start our focus on Noel, she's on her way to Mistyvale for a fresh start as she tries to pick up her life after her leaving her horribly abusive ex boyfriend. Rhyett and Brexley bring her to his hometown of Mistyvale, a small island off the coast of Alaska where the Rhodes clan has lived for generations. He has a job for her, a home, and an entire clan of family to help support her and Brexley and him both think it'll give her the space she needs to start clean.

Jameson is the grumpy 33 year old brother to Rhyett who is taking over the family business and just happens to be Noel's new neighbor. He doesn't care too much about romance, just focusing his life on his family and their fishing boat. Like true Grumpy/Sunshine fashion these two are complete opposites. But once they have a..unique meeting..these two have a connection that is so charged it has both of them questioning where they stand. As we step out of our Florida bookstore we move our set to a backdrop of a misty, cozy mountainous small town, meeting more of the Rhodes, and have a great start to a new story.

While this series is marketed with standalone's, and this book can be read on its own I would absolutely recommend reading South of the Skyway first. We are introduced to Noel in the first book, as well as get some information on the backstory as well as the characters within Brewing Temptation. I fully, again, recommend checking your trigger warning's though, as Noel's story is not all sunshine. As stated above, Noel is just out of her relationship with Dumb Eric. He was isolating, physically abuse and mentally/emotionally abusive and we see a couple scenes of this within the book, so if these topics are difficult or hard for you to read, just be prepared for it before diving in.

I was absolutely thrilled to be stepping back into this world, Sydne has become one of my must read authors and being back in this world with these characters was a breath of fresh air. Sydne has the ability to make her characters feel real, you connect and fall in love with them and that just continued to be true in this next installment. Because we are in the Rhodes clan's home turf, we get a closer look into the dynamic and life of this family and more interactions with those we were only teased about in South of the Skyway. The support, the acceptance, the defense that this family provides is amazing and reading how each Rhodes accepted and welcomed Noel as family was so great and lovely to see. This definitely hit a tick in the found family trope and had me smiling.

JAMESON RHODES, MY GOD. I am absolutely feral for this man. Add in the tension, the spice, the alpha protective nature that leads to Fake Dating? I can't. Because what else is a gorgeous, grumpy, protective man to do when a girls asshole of an ex show's up and starts manhandling her? Claim her as his of course, what's a little fake dating if it protects the woman you already want. *melts* The level of inception Sydne pulled was hilarious, as Noel is a romance reader, who co-owns a romance book store, telling Jameson about the fake dating trope, to live the fake dating trope *chefs kiss* so fun. I cannot speak enough about their banter, their tension, the chemistry that oozes off the page.

I honestly cannot sing praises for this book, this series and this author enough. Because it's not just a romance book, it's about finding yourself again and building yourself up after the silent suffering of an abusive situation. Finding a way to do the hardest thing and ask for help, and accepting help from those around you, learning that you are not alone.

Sydne I literally need the next book now, I saw the groundwork you laid in this book for the next, and I cannot wait.

Guys, read this series, read this book, I would literally read Sydne's grocery list, she's a fantastic author and you will not be disappointed.

Thank you, as always, to Sydne for the arc.

Brewing Temptation is the second book in Nomadic Rhodes series, and though can be read as a standalone, I highly suggest reading book 1, South of the Skyway, first to get the fuller story. This book follows Jameson Rhodes, the third oldest of the Rhodes siblings, and Noel McShane, best friend of Brexley Snows, from the first book.

PLEASE CHECK ALL CONTENT AND TRIGGER WARNINGS!!!!

Jameson is a fisherman, in line to take over the family fishing business and Noel runs the coffee bar inside The Cracked Corset bookstore with Brexley. After the events of SotS, Noel is needing a new start far away from Florida and Brexley and Rhyett take her back to Rhyett’s hometown of Mistyvale, Alaska. Rhyett sets her up with a job and insists that she stay in his house and look after it while he and Brexley are gone. Little does she know that Jameson, Rhyett’s grumpy younger brother, lives next door. When Jameson gets a glimpse of his new neighbour, followed by a rather infuriating introduction, the two rub each other the wrong way. Can these two learn to co-exist peacefully or will they continue to push each others buttons?

Okayyyyyy THE TENSION, BANTER AND SLOW BURN in this book are literal FIRE!!!! I was kicking, screaming and swooning IMMEDIATELY. The chemistry between Jameson and Noel is so freaking hot and everything about their back and worth, push and pull had me dying, but I LOVED EVERY MINUTE. There is just something about the tension and build up that a slow burn allows that makes me absolutely feral and Sydne weaves this one so masterfully. And when the spice finally happens the pay off is OFF THE CHARTS.

The storm cloud that is Jameson Rhodes is UTTER PERFECTION. Don’t get me wrong I loved Rhyett, but there is just something about a grumpy, sarcastic, witty man that will do anything and everything for those he loves. He is fiercely protective and isn’t afraid to get scrappy if necessary. Relationships aren’t something that Jameson has the time or need for. When he meets Noel and her bright, shiny, feisty personality he can’t help but get under her skin and in turn, he finds himself unable to stop thinking about her. Noel is the complete opposite to Jameson in every way but they both share a loyalty to the people that are important to them. Noel sees joy in the little things and brings a smile to everyone she interacts with. She is charming and sweet but can go toe to toe with the best of them. Noel has a strength about her that is unwavering. Her story is one that is devastatingly common(please check TW) but her willingness to persevere and fight for her peace and freedom from her ex is inspiring.

Because the setting for this book is in Mistyvale, Alaska, we are treated to more of the endearing Rhodes crew. Seeing the different aspects of the relationships and close knit bonds of this family are truly one of my favourite things in this series. Sydne has created such unforgettable characters with so much depth, heart, charm, and sense of humour. Their capacity to love and accept anyone into their fold is endless and has you begging to be made an honorary Rhodes. I am so excited for every single story involving these siblings and am already counting down the days to the next book.

I received an ARC of this book, and I was obsessed with it. I've DNFed so many books this year so this was a much needed good read.

This is a Grumpy x Sunshine, Fake dating, slow burn romance. TW for discussions of Domestic Violence - nothing graphic on page. I felt like this point was handled delicately, and anyone who has experienced DV would highly relate.

2.5-3🌶️ (in my opinion)

What can I say? These are all my favorite tropes so I loved this book. But more than that, I loved the characters, and the plot really hooked me in. The stakes felt real.

Noel the FMC was extremely relatable to me. In fact, one quote made me tear up because I really related to what she said:

"I worked so hard to make other people smile and feel seen because I knew what it felt like to never be accepted at my full power... to grapple with decades of rejection."

Yes, yes, yes... Also, her stubbornness was relatable for me, and it wasn't overboard. She knew when to finally accept help. Jameson was also a really well fledged out character. He wasn't perfect, but his flaws made me like him even more. He had a dirty mouth, which I quite enjoyed lol. He values consent and respects boundaries, which is a must for me. The spice was spicing, and the plot was intriguing.

There was just one thing that made me take it from 5 stars to 4...

This is the second book in the series, but it's a stand alone book. Yet, this book shows the conclusion of the romance from the first book, and I honestly didn't enjoy this section. I wished this was a bit more like the Brown sister books where the characters are simply mentioned but we don't go too deep into their story. I personally felt like the conclusion of the previous romance took away from my experience of this book, and because of that it might be a bit difficult to actually read this as a stand alone without reading the first. I just felt like a lot of time was spent on this plot point, and if it was removed the book could have been maybe 50 pages shorter, which is more approachable for romance.

But overall, I loved this book. If you're a fan of romances with a lot of spice, I think you'll love this.

*ARC Review*

I don’t even know where to start with these two. I loved their constant banter back and forth throughout the whole book. It just turned from resenting each other a little to loving each other fiercely. Noel is a character I really resonated with once we got to know her a lot better. Jameson is a man that just resonated safe from the first book. Even more so from the second we meet him in this book. Noel deserves all the love and happiness in the world and if anyone is going to provide that plus safety, it’s Brexley and the Rhodes family. I’m obsessed with their constant forehead touches, the grounding comfort of them is unmatched. Also, I can’t get enough of their nicknames for each other! Wolverine and Skittles?!!?? Adorable. Freaking adorable. 😍🥹😭😍

Now we’re gonna get to the spoilery part of the review. The moment Noel found Brex in the bathroom, I knew what she was gonna say. I knew it and I still gasped and squealed and cried. I’m so happy for her and Rhyett! (Yes I did read the bonus epilogues of SotS so I already knew about the baby.) With the constant back and forth, I was so anticipating their first kiss but I didn’t expect Noel to be the one to initiate it! And her sprinting into Jameson’s arms on the docks?? 😍😍😍😍 I love that girl. I’m a girl who loves the outdoors and camping so Jameson taking her hiking was something that spoke to my heart. 🥰 Also what went down on that mountain? 🥵 I don’t want to say his name but, Eric is a lowlife that doesn’t deserve another thought in Noel’s mind and I’m glad he finally got the justice he deserved. However, trying to take down Jameson and the Rhodes good name in the process????? Low blow my guy but I’m not surprised. All in all, this book was fantastic and both Noel and Jameson deserve the happiness they found with each other. I can’t wait to see what Rhodes kid we follow next!!

Brewing temptation by @barnettbooktalk (book 2 in the nomadic Rhodes series) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.25

Thank you @barnettbooktalk for providing me with an arc for this book in exchange of an honest review. I appreciate it greatly.
Book comes out November 3rd ❤️

I loved this book, it truly was quite the journey and I found myself smiling and laughing and my heart ached for Noel and Jameson and I was frustrated and a bit annoyed at times and I was angry too. This story was a story of healing, of finding yourself again, of saving yourself, of family and the realization that family doesn’t end up in blood, of finding people that care for you and see all of you and find you enough because you are enough, it’s a story of finding your safe space and finding that sunlight after the storm once more, of letting g someone else carry that burden with you because you’re not Atlas and you don’t need to carry it all on your shoulders, no matter how much you wish to carry the world. I loved both Noel and Jameson, it was lovely seeing them fall in love and find solace and comfort in each other, I loved seeing them grow individually and together and I loved seeing them find a home with each other and find the one you let see all of you, the one you wouldn’t hesitate to fight for. This book was funny, was lighthearted at times, the found family aspect got me as usual, but it was emotional and tense at times too, it was raw and real and squeezed my heart tight. This book was just wonderful and I loved it, it truly was written beautifully and like I said I loved these characters so much and just Noel, she truly was brave and sunshine and so full of love and deserved the world, she is a survivor and just a boss as woman and I love her to end, Jameson my grump with a teddy bear heart, the one that wishes to help everyone and who deep down thinks he’s not good enough, the one that deserves the world even though he want to carry it instead, the one that would go down fighting for the people he loves, the one who loved with his whole heart, I just love him to no end too. This book 🥺
Overall please go read this book.

Thank you so much Sydne Barnett for sending me an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I ADORED this book & the characters! This was actually my introduction to Sydne Barnett (I've had Commanding Flame and Shield on my TBR but it keeps getting away from me 🫠), and because I haven't read South of the Skyway I chose to read this as a standalone. I RARELY choose to do something like this because I always like having all the context of a story, but when Sydne Barnett says these books can be standalones, SHE MEANS IT.

This is a slow burn, fake dating, small town, age gap, grumpy sunshine romance. Yes that's a lot of tropes, and yes not only are they all there in the story, they are done incredibly well! The slow burn and tension between Noel and Jameson is incredibly satisfying, along with the backgrounds and storyline of them as individuals.

Noel is trying to escape a complicated past with her ex and Jameson is part of a loving family that accepts Noel into their midst. Set in Mistyvale, Alaska, there is so much small town cuteness, blended with the tension of Noel wanting to make a change and find peace. Enter Jameson, with his grumpy introverted self, that just can't seem to stay away from Noel....

I don't want to giveaway any spoilers, but this book has it all. Great storyline and writing from Sydne, the tension you want in a romance, and the spicy that'll have you squealing out loud as you read.

Absolutely read the content and trigger warnings due to the nature of Noel's backstory, and protect your peace if needed. Noel is a fantastic FMC that I find both endearing and relatable. I'm absolutely going to be diving into South of the Skyway and can't wait for more books in the series!

I read the first book in this series: South of the Skyway and I loved it. I couldn’t wait to get to the next one because it ended on a bit of a cliffhanger with Noel. Once I started Brewing Temptation I could not put it down!! It was that good y’all!! I got all the glimpses of the characters i loved in book one, as well as it being filled with so many great things I love in a romance!

Jameson was the perfect broody fisherman to Noel’s bright, colorful sunshine. She doesn’t miss a beat as she navigates her new life in Alaska to escape a dangerous relationship. She is spunky, witty and just fun!! She is accepted into the town and the Rhodes family with open arms.

Even though neither want to give into the feelings at first, Jameson and Noel realize they can’t stay away and their “fake” dating doesn’t stay fake very long. Their banter, chemistry and slow burn to spice was paced perfectly and so hot!!!

There were some emotional scenes with pretty tense moments that literally had me holding my breath! Jameson was so protective and would do absolutely anything to keep Noel safe. My gosh, he was so so swoony. Bring on more Rhodes brothers! Check out the Nomadic Rhodes series..I’m hoping it’s a long one since there are so many siblings and side characters!

Umm okay that was pure amaziness that was everything I needed.

I just went about feral over the book. I was not expecting to love this book so completely and to be obsessed! I swear every page had a quote I wanted to share with my friends to tell them just how awesome this book was.

Jameson just secured his spot as a top playa in my heart. Wow. The quote that Noel said about him “protective, cautious, chivalrous, secretly teddy-bear-soft energy?” YASSSS! He was everything I want in a book boyfriend. Alpha male to perfection, but kind and giving and sweet. Completely possesive and protective and goes FERAL when someone messes with his family. Good lords…..he was perfection.

I can’t recommend this story enough. Noel was an amazing female character who was easy to relate to and to connect with. Her banter was hilarious and only second to the smokin’ hot alpha of the story.

Go read this book. Now. You can thank me later.

Okay so I loved South of the Skyway and was super excited to get into this one with Jameson being an over protective grump, but it felt like the pieces weren't exactly connecting. Like he's this protective big brother but you can tell he's all love underneath, so when he says he was always the scary brother you just want to laugh in his face. It just wasn't believable to me. I thought his issues with their age gap was annoying because that was his biggest reason for not wanting to ask her out and then he brought it up like 20 times.
Noel saying Sweet baby cheeses took me out lmao but I feel like it might be a funny Florida thing?
I liked the plot a lot but I feel like it was almost forgotten until the end and then it was rushed.
Will be continuing the series, but I didn't vibe with this one as much as I thought I would unfortunately

Thank you Sydne for letting me on the ARC team once more!

Reading this was hard for me because I see myself in Noel in so many ways, past-and future. And to all fellow Noels out there, you're not alone. And it's kinda great being seen in a book even though this book wasn't about me at all, I loved the wrap up in this book.

Be sure to read the content disclosures before reading!

I loved the scenery, and Synde always makes it easy to imagine the setting.

This is a cosy, romantic and a little dark story, and I love the fact that it's so relatable, all the characters are over the age of 18, and it's set in the real world-which is different for me! But I wouldn't miss a story about the Rhodes for anything!

And honestly, I'm happy I have a Jameson by my side, because Men.Written.By.Women!😘🤌

I say no more, you'll have to read and find out for yourself 😜

What an absolute rollercoaster full of tears, laughter, suspense, and more. This novel seamlessly starts us off where book 1 ends but with new characters to dive into.

Jameson and Noel's story is one I want to reread again and again. I'm only sad I can't read it for the first time again. I've always liked the grumpy man who is secretly the caring, big ol teddy bear that will protect what they love at all costs. Noel is a strong, independent woman who fights to gain back her life.

This book will leave you on your toes and wanting more with each turn of the page. You'll be surprised. You might cry some tears. But you definitely will be smirking, giggling, or biting your lip when it comes to the banter between these two.

I absolutely can't wait to see the next in the Rhodes family!

I have been anxiously awaiting this couple’s story and that wait was worth it!! I knew, from the glimpses I was given of these two main characters in the previous book, I was going to love them. What I did not expect was the level that I absolutely adore them. Noel, while she may not think so, has a strength that I pray for any woman in her situation. Her tenacity to not let the past continue to dictate her present was beautiful to read. Her spirit and humor had me laughing and cheering for her. Jameson…I could not wait to see into his mind. My favorite type of MMC’s are a grumpy, over protective man and Jameson exemplifies why I adore those MMC’s. He may not want to like the sunshine that Noel brings at first, but his protective drive won’t allow him to stand in his own way. Their steam might be a slow build, but when it hits?? It’s like walking into a sauna immediately after playing outside in the cold. And Jameson’s dirty talk about did me in. I am in complete love with this couple, this family, this series. I cannot wait to see what comes next!

I loved this book so much. 😭 It absolutely consumed my waking moments.
I’ve been waiting on pins and needles waiting for Noel’s story and did not come out disappointed!
While technically a stand alone, I highly suggest reading South of the Skyway first as there are characters and moments from the book mentioned in the second one.
Brewing Temptation picks up right where South of the Skyway leaves off, seeing Noel move to Mistyvale to have a fresh start.
We get to know more of the Rhodes family in this book and see a lot more interaction within the family. I absolutely adored the Rhodes family and cannot wait to read more of them!
And we haven’t even gotten to the romance.
I love a good grump and Jameson totally fits the bill. AND he’s a sea captain?? 🥵
Fair warning, this book is the slowest of slow burns but when it finally happens, the spice is well worth the wait.
If it’s not abundantly clear, I have absolutely adored this series so far and cannot wait to read the next one.
Thank you to the author for an ARC of Brewing Temptation in exchange for my honest review. ❤️❤️

Age gap
Small town
Fake dating
grumpy sunshine

Brewing Temptation is the second book in the Nomadic Rhodes Series.

I was so excited to continue meeting the Rhodes clan and follow Noel and Jameson and they did not disappoint! Noel fleeing a complicated and messy ex moves to Alaska and Jameson is her grumpy neighbor. They have some serious slow burn, tension and chemistry. I love that Jameson is a grump on the outside but really he is the most caring and protective brother/friend/neighbor. Noel and Jameson felt so incredibly relatable and they both just can’t help but be drawn together. What a great storyline and incredible slow burn leading to some hot spice! I can’t wait to read the next book and continue seeing what’s going on with the past couples as well!

I received an ARC copy of this book and am leaving an honest review.

I love the Rhodes family so much!!! Jameson (MMC) is a grumpy, alpha with a soft side for those he loves. Noel (FMC) is a ray of sunshine and his opposite in every way. I LOVED the banter and the nicknames in this book!! I have never been to Alaska, but this series makes me want to book a one-way ticket, get a job in a coffee shop, and meet a sexy lumberjack IYKYK!

This is book 2 in the Nomadic Rhodes series. You do not have to read book 1 (South of the Skyway) first but I HIGHLY recommend it! The Rhodes family is HUGE with 12 siblings, “bonus siblings” and cousins. I loved how the author included a guide to the Rhodes family with names and descriptions in the beginning of the book. It’s written in a way where you don’t need it, but as someone who gets easily confused with a lot of characters, I really appreciated it! The bond the Rhodes family has is unmatched and I love the way they take care of not only their own, but anyone who needs a family!

✨ARC Review✨

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)
🌶🌶🌶🌶 (4/5)

"I was thinking you're perfect...and so f*ing precious that I can't believe you let me touch you like this."

Sweet. Baby. Cheeses. This book! I found myself crying, screaming, squealing, and smiling like a dope while I read this book. Noel's story resonated with me on a deep personal level and I am so appreciative of the representation Sydne provides of survivors of toxic, abusive, violent relationships. Noel and Jameson are the perfect balance of light and dark, with their own emotional baggage. I loved seeing the Rhodes family come together and bring another person into the fold. All the characters feel so real and I desperately look forward to the next story from the Nomadic Rhodes.

Thank you so much to Sydne Barnett for sharing this ARC with me! All opinions are my own.

OMG I have fallen in love with Jameson and Noel and the family that is the Rhodes family. If you are into found family then this is the book for you! Noel is trying to start over away from the life and people she knows in particular her ex Eric, she introduces herself under an alias name but of course our beautiful resident grump MMC doesn’t buy her name and knows she’s lying she eventually tells him the truth, breaking down the barrier between them little by little. The Rhodes family take her in as one of their own as she is friends Brexley who is dating Jameson’s brother. When Noel’s ex arrives on the island and tries to forcibly talk to her and the Rhodes brothers step in, the decision is made that Jameson and Noel will fake date to dissuade Eric off of Noel. But lines become blurred and feelings become all too real when Jameson and Noel fall in love.

There was banter, fake dating spice and also slow burn at the start of this book.

I am absolutely crazy for Jameson Rhodes he is protective, grumpy, broody, just a beautifully written character who blends seamlessly with Noel

I need the next book in the series and I need it now !

~ Grumpy sunshine
~ age gap

Sweet. Baby. Cheeses.

Brewing Temptation was the perfect second book in the Nomadic Rhodes series!

The story picks up right where South of the Skyway ended, but with a different Rhodes brother, and Noel’s POV. Jameson and Noel are just as 🥵 as Rhyett and Brexley, and I shouldn’t be surprised, Sydne sure knows how to write ‘em!

I was giggling and kicking my feet throughout the entire story and could feel myself falling in love with the Rhodes Family all over again! I felt completely connected with the characters, especially Noel. I share a similar past as Noel, and understand all too well what she was going through. This story warmed my heart, and I’m glad we both found our happy endings ☀️

Thank you again Sydne for allowing me to read your books! Keep them coming, I’m ready for ALL of the Rhodes! 🫶🏼

This was my first book by Sydne Barnett and I was blessed to be an ARC reviewer.
Let me just say, this immediately was NOT going to be my only book by Sydne! I am happily married for almost 14 years, but Jameson made me want to move to small town Alaska and work at a coffee shop.

I hadn't read her first book in the Nomadic Rhodes series (I am currently now though) yet, so I was a little lost for a minute when I read the deep connection Noel, Rhyett, and Brex had and the bond between the brothers. It didn't take me long to understand the gravity of Noel's situation and what brought her to Mistyvale. I fell in love with the Rhodes family immediately and how Jameson fell hard first, but still putting up that grumpy front. I knew I was going to love them after their first meet- an accidental run in and her telling him what was on her mind! Noel just has this charisma about her that makes you just fall in love with her. Jameson is that tough, grumpy fisherman guy, but is loved by the whole town. I loved how he immediately stepped in when her past found her and that fake dating trope has become one of my favorites and this one did NOT disappoint. Seriously, Jameson is the BEST fake boyfriend who is trying everything to not acknowledge what he already knows...and that "touch her and _" vibe was strong and coming from Jameson?! Whewww.. I also loved how they were able to let their walls down with each other when it never had happened before with anyone else.

I loved the family bonds in the Rhodes family- even with TWELVE siblings, a few extra "found" siblings, and a set of parents who set an amazing example for true love. I personally never had that, truly, so it's also one of my favorite parts of books that lean into that. They immediately accepted Noel AND Brexley and I loved what they did for Noel when she needed them. Sydne made me feel for these characters like I was part of the family and I smiled, I swooned, I laughed, I cried, and I thoroughly immersed myself in this story and wished I was in Mistyvale too.

I would 1000% recommend this book if you love strong main male characters that are tough on the outside, but the biggest sweetheart when they meet *the one*, strong females that know their worth and love to drive the grump crazy, found family/strong family ties, humor, emotion, great side characters, and enough spice to make you squeal when you're in bed reading late at night and you JUST CAN'T STOP reading. Seriously though, "Brewing Temptation" is a 5/5 stars for me and Sydne Barnett is now an automatic "click to read" author for me!

I cannot wait for her next one in this series...and every one after that!

This was such a fun book! Sydne did it again! I get so lost in this world with this family ♥️ I love that I get to see the people I feel in love with from the first book. This story is about finding your own strength and in that knowing you can lean on others for support!
And how can I not add the spice is PERFECTION 🔥🔥

Due to working in events, I had to wait 3 whole days to start this book and it was complete agony. Once I finally started it, I couldn't stop. Sydne, is the Queen of slow burn writing! The way I was literally giddy and grinning when our two main characters FINALLY get together. These characters had a death grip on me and were not going to let go until I finished the book. Even now, I can't stop thinking about it. There was banter. There was tension. There was a protective, alpha type, sexy as h3ll Rhodes man that might literally unalive someone for her. I couldn't get enough of these characters and I read this book in a day. Who needs to adult, just read, especially when you have a book like Brewing Temptation.

This is book two in Sydne Barnett's, Nomadic Rhodes series. This is a series of interconnected, contemporary romance standalone stories, but with these Rhodes men, you're going to want them ALL!

Book one, South of the Skyway, follows Brexley and Rhyett's story, and WHEW, it was amazing .... amazingly steamy. Book 2, Brewing Temptation, follows Brexley's best friend, Noel, as she packs up and heads thousands of miles away from Florida to Mistyvale, Alaska. Even though Brex and Rhyett have only dated for a few months, Rhyett helps get Noel to a safe place so that she can start fresh and get away from her toxic Ex. She doesn't expect to find a supportive family, but the Rhodes clan won't have it any other way. They care for their own. If Noel is family to Brexley and Rhyett, then she is family to them too. She also doesn't expect to find HIM.

Jameson Rhodes ..... 6'4, rough on the outside, but sugary sweet on the inside. His animal side comes out if you say "yes, sir." Not sure what genes Juniper and Milo Rhodes have, because damn, these Rhodes men are top tier, drool worthy, clinch your thighs at the thought of them types. anyway, Jameson has no plans to settle down, his plans are to his families fishing business. That is until he gets an eye full, first sight of Noel McShane. They fight and bicker, but ultimately they are meant for each other and he isn't going to let anyone hurt her again.

There is definitely some insta attraction in this book, but I love the tension and burn as these two work through their own issues to finally come together. And when they FINALLY get together, I think even I saw stars. I didn't think I could like any couple more than Brex and Rhyett, but Noel and Jameson said, "hold my beer" and they (and Sydne) hit it out of the park. Absolutely loved it!

Content warnings: There are parts of this book that may be upsetting to some. Definitely check the TW's before reading.
