This collection of stories was entertaining, however, I feel the author took liberties with the characters. The female characters were made to be strong, independent and more liberal in thinking than the Amish women I know. One of the main male characters (in one story) leaves the Amish church and becomes Mennonite. I realize this is fictional but the repercussions of that were not honestly revealed. In our community a baptized Amish who leaves the church is shunned, ostracized. They have absolutely no contact with family members or friends who are still Amish. That is a harsh reality that I suppose the author did not wish to include.
Another great book by Shelley Shepard Gray! I loved learning about Joshua and Gretta's story. It was wonderful to see the conflicts resolved and that even in the midst of the trials they trusted in the Lord and did not lose their faith. The next book in the series is ordered and I just have a day to wait to begin reading the second book.
