Dr. Charlotte Devaux’s just been through hell but taking a break from the mayhem isn’t an option. When she’s tossed into a murder investigation more confusing than her budding relationship with her boss, the sexy, stubborn vampire, Lieutenant Julian Carver, her psychic powers provide more questions than answers. There’s a frustrating lack of evidence to explore in her lab. And since the murder was committed on the Supernatural Handling Agency’s Division of Equity’s (SHADE’s) base, Julian’s convinced there’s a mole in the organization. As the investigation intensifies, unexpected blackmail from one of the suspects threatens the safety of Charlotte’s family. But trusting anyone else with the information could be a grave mistake—even Julian. The vamp might be amazing in bed, but that doesn’t mean she should share everything with him, considering the secrets she knows he’s keeping from her. And the fact he may very well make things worse by tearing out the blackmailer’s throat. Complicating matters are her new friends, but are they reliable or do they have agendas of their own? If she doesn’t figure out who to trust, it could cost the lives of everyone she loves and let a murderer go free.
Lizzy Gayle loves paranormal so much, she lives it. She is both an author and a psychic. Between mothering her three kids, attempting to understand her rocket scientist husband, and consistently attempting to declutter her home (that she is convinced is a secret portal to a clutter-creating dimension), she does her best to use her creative gifts and share them with you. Lizzy is a people person so if you contact her, it will make her very happy and she will likely answer while possibly including pictures of her bunnies and/or bird. She has also been known to write Young Adult under the name Lisa Gail Green. Anything else you’d like to know about her you may find out by asking because it never hurts to ask.
Charlotte feels there's something Julian is hiding from her, but she can't help it, but to trust him. They won't have a minute for a break, since there's a murder inside SHADE. Julian is convinced there's a traitor among them.
More than ever, they need to trust and count with the help of more people.
Luckily, Charlotte's sister is a very powerful witch.
Holy wow! I kind of don’t even know how to put my experience with this book into words. I’m still sitting here in shock over the new discoveries and revelations contained within this story. The chemistry between Charlotte and Julian is both fascinating and frustrating. It’s the perfect knife’s-edge balance of will-they or won’t-they, and it’s driving me deliciously nuts waiting for them to fully commit one way or the other. The villain of this piece was quite the surprise to me. I’m a personal fan of that type of creature so I’m a bit horrified to see one doing such terrible things. Much like the previous book, where this one leaves us has me frothing at the mouth to get my hands on whatever’s coming next in the series. I received a complimentary advance copy of this book from the author.
If you love vampires, werewolves, witches, Fae and other beings and also love trying to solve murders. This is for you!!
Great continuation of Dr. Charlotte Devaux’s story. I was hooked right away. Seeing her in the case with Julian was an adventure. I love books when they are trying to solve a murder or a serial of murders. Seeing both of them conflicted, mostly her on their feelings.
I was in them fence on who the killer would have been! I seriously had no idea! And I love stories that always keep me guessing.
The second installment in the Bitten series, Bitten by Trouble is a fast-paced, paranormal murder mystery. Char is thrust into the investigation with none other than the brooding vampire (and lust interest), Julian. Throw in some blackmail, and things get interesting…and even more complicated.
I don’t want to describe the book much more in fear of spoiling it!
What I truly love about this series is the easy immersion factor for me. I can put the book down, then pick it up later and am instantly whisked back into the story. The pacing is great and keeps the reader glued to the pages.
Bitten by Trouble also gave a broader look into more side characters, specifically the type of characters, on base. This really helped to ratchet up the “whodunit” aspect of the story. (I’d love a pub where the owner knew what I needed to eat and drink in that moment!)
Do yourself a favor and give this series a read, if you haven’t already!
Special thanks to the author for the ARC. All thoughts in this review are honest and my own.
Bitten by Trouble by Lizzy Gayle is book two in the Bitten Series. It’s a paranormal romance that picks up after the first book with Char and Julian teaming up again. I flew through the first book so I was excited to continue the story. Needless to say, you have to read the first book. This is full of action, adventure, suspense and such intriguing characters. I personally love both Julian and Charlotte… both feel so realistic. Sometimes they drive me crazy! But seriously this book is written really well and the plot is so interesting. The turns it takes is great and I did not see the twist that happened coming. I will mention it ends on a cliffhanger. I need to read book three immediately. This is a must read for people who love a good paranormal series. Well done and I recommend it!
Lizzy has sucked me into the world of Char and Julian. I have fallen in love with both of the characters. I get frustrated with both of them and fall into their emotions. Each character that comes into this story has their own unique characteristics that stand out from the others. I don't find anyone's story to be predictable and look forward to finding out what trouble they will all find themselves into next and how they will get themselves out of it. I love to watch as friendship alliances slowly develop that surprise even the characters themselves. Bottom line this is a must-read series, and I cannot wait to see what Lizzy comes up with next!!!
Lizzy Gayle has another keeper with Bitten by Trouble, Book 2 in the "Bitten" series. This fun, faced-paced, and intriguing paranormal is full of surprises. Couldn't put it down. It's a nail-biter and a heart-thumper. Char and Julian's romance continues to be steam-worthy as they navigate the mysteries popping up all around them. I love all the imaginative and unpredictable supes that populate the "Bitten" world. I would follow any one of them into their own story. These books are such a blast. Keep them coming, Lizzy.
This was an excellent continuation of Charlotte's story! I love that Lizzy's writing makes it so easy to be "sucked in" 😏 (hahaha pun maybe intended?) to the story.
Charlotte and Julian are trying to solve a string of murders happening on the island, someone tries to blackmail Charlotte, and we have some protective alphahole moments.
I especially loved that we found out more about some of the side characters, such as Daphne, and learn about different paranormal species that reside on the island. I cannot wait to see how this series progresses in the next book.
I flew through this book and I am left only wanting more. This sequel was everything I wanted it to be. The fast paced, exciting, murder mystery aspect, the romance and the comedy made for the ultimate combination! I love being along for the ride as Char gets into various supernatural entanglements and I can never get enough of hot vampires—Julian specifically. Definitely recommend this series and can't wait for the next one.
Y’all this is one of those books that’s just so good to cozy up with a nice blanket pillow and read in one whole sitting. It’s wonderfully written, has great plot, a little spice but if you love a good paranormal romance/mystery, work place relationship just over all good book then this is the one for you 👏🏼💛 don’t forget to read its predecessor Bitten By Surprise! Lizzy once again you’ve done an amazing job and I can’t wait for book 3! 👏🏼💛
Book two Bitten By Trouble by Lizzy Gayle is easily one of my new favorite series. This is like the Hallmark Movies of books with a bit more steam except we’ve got vampires, fae, humans and mysteries. She writes beautifully keeping her readers intrigued, fast paced and loving the banter and chemistry between the MC’s. This is definitely a read in one sitting with a good blanket and cup of tea. I can’t wait for the next installment! I highly, highly recommend this series!
Wow! This book was quite the follow up! I enjoyed joining back up with these characters and fell in love with them all over again. Julian is everything and more! While this book could easily be lumped in with other books with similar plot points (female psychic main character, vampire lover, etc.) it definitely stands apart from the rest and is very original and well written! Highly recommend!
Book two was such another great adventure. I was literally guessing the entire time as to who done it. The chapters after the last rescue 👀 oh my gosh yes! Next one please!
I was given a physical arc of this one, and holy wow, to say I am obsessed with this series is such an understatement!
This is the second book in the Bitten Series and Lizzy continues to bring it! Julien does get under my skin this book, but I love him, so it is OK. With everyone, basically, knowing about Char and her unique powers, things have grown dangerous for her. The ending has me ready for whatever comes next.
This is the second book but the Author and I still just love her writing she always gives her all in her writing she leaves you asking what is gonna happen at every page you turn I loved the story line and ohh I fell in love with her characters I really can’t wait to see what else this author is gonna come up with just amazing
In this book we start pretty early with the brutal murder of a pregnant werewolf. But who did it? Why?
Whoever it was had access to SHADE, a paranormal government base. Was it one of the sect leaders? Someone they've already hod issues with? Someone new?
This sequel flows right in with the first one. Char doesn't feel she can totally trust Julian, even though she is falling harder for him. The murder investigation they got thrown into is lacking evidence. Julian wants Char to learn how to defend herself. This books twists and turns are getting wilder and I can't wait to finish the next book!
Fast-paced, full of fun and fangs, the Bitten series has hit its stride with this closed-door (er, closed-elevator) mystery! Gayle always keeps the pages turning with unexpected twists and lots of supernatural intrigue.
This series just keeps getting better and better. I did not see that coming. This series is so good. Highly recommend reading for any fantasy fans that like a little hot romance.
This book is just as good as the first one. I enjoyed everything about this book. This series is going to be fun and so worth reading. If you have not checked it out you should
You can't help but love Charlotte ❤️ then there's Julien..... This book has the murder mystery and secrets plus love.... what more could you want absolutely loved it.
Bitten by Trouble is book 2 to Bitten By Surprise and I absolutely loved it. I love Char and Julian so much, there characters are developed really well and they just keep developing. This is so quick paced and I love the suspense created throughout. The storyline is fantastically created and I loved the direction it went in, it kept me guessing and I was pleasantly surprised. I always say but I love how Lizzy Gayle writes, she has a magical way with her world and character building. She writes with an eloquent and passionate way, that grips the reader from the off set. This novel was no different and I loved how easy it was to be swept away with this series and I look forward to book 3.
