The last thing Eider sheriff Shane Hamilton needs is a determined FBI agent in his county. He's already dealing with the fallout over his recent and all-too-close re-election, two gruesome homicides, and a rash of arsons. And personal grief weighs heavily on his soul.
Returning to Eider, Iowa, wasn’t part of FBI agent Liza Bartholomew’s game plan, but when she learns an elusive scam artist has been seen there, a man she's been tracking for years, she doesn't hesitate to follow the intel. Vengeance for his victims and her career are both on the line, and she won’t rest until justice is served. She doesn't expect to be stonewalled by the town sheriff.
It soon becomes obvious to Shane that his and Liza's cases are intertwined, and they're forced to work together, a move that challenges his longstanding vow of not getting emotionally or professionally too close to another woman.
As the body count mounts, Shane and Liza find themselves and everyone they love in the immediate crosshairs.
What will they sacrifice to stop the cold-blooded killer in time?

Winter Austin perpetually answers the question: “were you born in the winter?” with a flat “nope.” Having returned to her hometown, Winter has stepped into the chaotic world of a full-time wife, mom, author, and employee.
A lifelong Mid-West gal, Winter rediscovered her love of her beloved Iowa with its hot summers and snowy winters. She grew up listening to the captivating stories told by relatives around the table or a campfire. Since becoming a published author, she learned a mindset of a glass half-empty personality makes for a perfect suspense/thriller author. Taking her ability to verbally spin a vivid and detailed story, Winter translated that into writing deadly romantic thrillers. Combining her love of all things rural, agricultural, and military, she’s turned her small town life upside down.
Liar, Liar is the fourth book in the amazing The McIntire County series. I have thoroughly enjoyed each and every book so far and each one has been my favourite, well that is until Winter gives us another addition. It is a romantic suspense story with lots of twists and turns. These books are standalones, but we get to catch up with characters from previous books so make sure to start at the beginning of the series. Plus, you will get to find out all the heart stopping goodness in their stories. Shane’s past has left him with a heavy heart, but he has a town to keep in order no matter how he feels. One FBI agent is just throwing a spanner in the works as he tries to work his cases. FBI agent Liza Bartholomew is following the trail of evil and one she won’t stop tracking until they are in custody. The reception in the small town is a little frosty or mostly from one Sherriff to be exact. Unfortunately, neither are ready to give but when everything and everyone is threatened, they have to put things aside and work together. Or do they? This is a tale of danger, murder and mayhem, mystery, suspense, violence, and some romance. This a great story keeps you guessing. It is another of Winter’s tales cleverly woven together into a story that you cannot put down. There is suspense, heartache and heartbreak, pain and sorrow, lies and secrets, frustration and loss but there is also laughter. I love a story that is told multiple POV because you get to learn more about the characters and the way in which they think and tick. Look out for the ending. Happy reading. This is a must read and I look forward to what comes next.
This hero had a non-existent libido and should get an Abstinence Award, for sure. I loved the suspense in this story -- the pining away in silence of the H/h -- not so much. There is zero heat in this story if you know what I mean. To be fair to the author, she did state in the synopsis that this was a closed door romance and she meant it! I needed something more ... sexy banter ... double-entendres -- something! Definitely read it for the kick-ass heroine and the mystery and you'll be fine.
Mystery = B | Angst = B | Romance = C- | Heat = D-
I can't get enough of this series and this writer's stories!! They grab you from the first sentence and hang onto you until the last word. Each story is full of adventure, mystery, romance, suspense, and lots of shenanigans.
This story focuses on Sheriff Shane Hamilton. He's had a pretty rough year and that election was something else. Coming up on a very trying anniversary, Shane is looking forward to having some private time to think back over the memories of the past 19 years. When his phone starts ringing off the hook and messages are blowing up the line, he soon learns that a body was found and his idea of a private weekend is now blown to pieces.
FBI Agent Liza Bartholomew wasn't planning to return to Eider, Iowa anytime soon. She'd rather not ever step foot back there after the last adventure she had. However, her latest suspect is leading her to Eider and some familiar faces she hasn't seen in awhile. Trying to keep a very low profile, Liza gets word of a murder when she stops at a local convenience store. Her cover may be blown and her suspect now might get word of her arrival. Everything is blowing up in her face and her plans are shot.
When the sheriff and the FBI Agent end up realizing their cases are connecting and they find themselves spending more time together, feelings start to erupt that neither one wanted initially. The romance build is fun to read about these two!
I highly recommend reading these books in order as the back story is important to really understanding the characters in this series. I'm sure it could be read as a stand alone but there will be some important features lost. I've really enjoyed this series and can't wait for more from this author!
This has been a brilliant series and while they can be read as standalones I highly recommend you reach them in order not only because you owe it to yourself as a spoil for being an amazing human but because in a way they are linked because of the characters and references to them , just my humble though ( but really read them all (😉🤣❣️📚)
So we’re back in McIntyre County and things are heating up literally and figuratively 🔥Sheriff Shane Hamilton had his hands full with a flame of arsons , 2murders and a personal weight on his shoulders so his feathers are ruffled when the hot ( pardon the pun ) FBI Liza Bartholomew comes onto the scene …..
Liza Bartholomew is no stranger to me or McIntyre County but this time there a lot more at stake for her , her career is on the line , she’s out for vengeance and matters of the heart come into play , this girl has alot going on …
Shane realises that his crime spree is related to the manhunt Liza is on and against all odds he decides to work dose by side with her and they share professional stories and facts but also personal and things start get a little hairy when their friends and loved ones are in danger because of this case and while there was a threat I was scared they’d give up on each other but they drew their strength from one another and man I was on the edge of my seat want to close my eyes but then I’d drop my kindle and that’s not a good idea and I’ll have missed the good parts 🙈🤣
Each book is better than previous if that makes sense , it’s like red wine really it just gets better with age 😉
Another gripping read in this series set in McIntire County, and once again the setting was brought to life through the descriptive narrative. It was nice being back in Eider for another standalone story, which had me hooked throughout. Eider’s sheriff Shane Hamilton is dealing with the fallout over his recent re-election, a rash of arsons and two homicides, alongside his own personal grief, so he definitely does not need a determined FBI agent looking for vengeance in his County. FBI agent Liza Bartholomew is tracking an elusive scam artist which results in her returning to Eider, but is surprised when the town’s sheriff is decidedly unhelpful. However, Liza is looking for justice for the scam artists victims and her career is also on the line so is determined to stay. Shane and Liza are then forced to work together when they realise their cases are linked, but as their professional relationship turns into a more personal one, the body count is mounting. The couple find that it’s not just their lives at risk by their continuing investigation but also their love ones, but they continue to try and stop the cold hearted killer before he stops them. I loved the main characters and how their relationship developed throughout the story. The storyline and plot twists kept me guessing as to the outcome of the investigation and I found this a real page turner!
This author grabs you right from the beginning every time. I’ve read the first three in this series and this one was just as awesome. I read these in order and I do recommend it that way simple because I think in enhanced the overall experience. I will say you definitely could read them as stand alone with no confusion though which I can appreciate. This book kept me guessing and on my toes just as well as the first three and to me that’s the accomplishment of an author. I love when I can’t see the entire storyline played out way before I get the the end. This author writes characters that are so easy to connect with and they simply draw you into their world and it’s hard to say goodbye at the end. Shane may be my favorite character from this series, there was just something “more” about his character that called to me. But each character in this book brings everything this story needs. Another five star read from this author who is definitely a one click for me now.
FBI agent Liza Bartholomew is back in Eider, Iowa after tracking a scam artist there. She has been tracking this man for years and may finally have him cornered. The town Sheriff, Shane Hamilton, is dealing with a couple homicides and a bunch of arsons. Although he at first stops Liza at every turn it soon gets discovered that their cases may be connected and forces them to work in close proximity. Will they be able to get along well enough to stop the perpetrator? The McIntire County Series has been fun to read. It was a a four book series, and this being book four it looks like the end of the line unfortunately. It is sad the series is over (for now) but I do hope there will be others. This book can be read as a standalone, however as some of the characters are recurring I do highly suggest reading this series from the beginning. I'm sure you will come to enjoy the series just as much as I did.
This is the fourth book in the McIntire County series. It can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading the others first. As usual the author’s writing style is great, flowing well and descriptive, creating vivid imagery of characters and scenery. There were plenty of twists and secrets in this book and I think the plot has a lot of potential to be incredible, but this was my least favourite of the series so far. This was an enjoyable story overall, but the characters are what tampered my enjoyment in this one. I really enjoy the series, but there was something about the characters that didn’t have the same realism for me. I felt for them both, and it was great that the emotion was there with their difficult pasts but as the story progressed the character interactions became less believable. Overall this was enjoyable and I look forward to more.
This is book four in the McIntire County Series. FBI Agent Liza Bartholomew follows the information about an elusive scam artist whom she has been looking for to Eider, Iowa. Sheriff Shane Hamilton is not very thrilled with an FBI agent in his county. Little did Shane know that this Liza would be the opening he needed in his personal life as well as his professional life. Love, anger, resentment and a little sass is throughout the story. I could not put this book down!!!!! I literally read it from Sun Up to Sun Down. It had me on my seat the entire time. There are dead bodies, fires, and a some drama from the police department. I promise you that this book is one of the many that you will not be able to put down.
Liar, Liar is another phenomenal addition to the McIntire County series. A dark, twisty, suspenseful, slow burn romance concerning FBI agent, ex-partner of Boyce, Liza, and steadfast, Sheriff Shane Hamilton. Together they need to get to the bottom of a new case involving murder, scam artists, and arson. It’s not very high on the spice level but judging what I’ve read from Winter most, if not all, are very clean which is a nice change of pace once in a while and allows the reader to focus on the mystery aspect of the book. Overall I think readers who like this type of read would be very happy to give this series a chance.
Slow romance which was a nice change of pace and I enjoyed watching these two fight their feelings and fall in love. Did not see the ending coming and was pleasantly surprised. Liar, Liar is book 4 of the series which I have not read yet and is written in a way that you’re up to speed, you’re not lost by not reading the first 3 books, and a feeling of connection to the characters. This is the first book I’ve read of Winter Austin and I will be checking out more from her. Good twists, mystery, and suspense. Keeps you turning the pages.
Independent Reviewer for Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!
Finally, a story about the strong and independent Sheriff! This story was even better than the last but was full of surprises. I was impressed with the route that the Sheriff took with this story. I was quite pleased to see the return of certain characters as well.
This story was darker than I expected and was heartbreaking at the same time. The male lead and the female lead were both full of surprises and were both quite hard headed and independent.
As expected, there wasn’t a lack of detail or descriptions here. It held my attention from start to finish and sank its claws into me to keep me reading.
This story, I feel, had a little better suspense and the twists and turns were a little more sharp and it was nearly impossible to try to guess who was involved and who was the suspect. It made for a sitting on the edge of your seat read.
I have enjoyed every single story in this series. They are fun reads and are full of suspense. They keep you on your toes and make you keep reading. I’d most definitely recommend this series to you!
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and my comments here are my honest opinion. *
This is the fourth book in the series and after reading it I am sorry that I missed the first three. It opens with the sheriff Shane dealing with turning fifty and an anniversary of a life altering event in his life. This is explained throughout the story. His reflection is interrupted because of a murder and his presence is needed. And so begins this suspense, and mystery story. When FBI agent Liza Bartholomew arrives at his office he feels his case being pulled away. Instead they work together and Liza finds herself attracted to a fifty year old pop tart eating sheriff who has secrets she wants to know. He finds himself jealous at least he thinks that is what that feeling is because he has not had that feeling in decades. Now putting those feelings aside they must work the case and find out who are killing these people before the next person is killed. A story of twists and turns and one I must say had me up until the end. A very good story that will keep you at the edge of your seat until the end. As for the story between the two lead characters, you have to get to the end of the book to find out what happens. Overall a wonderful book, with very good characters. I got this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com
This is an author that I have been following for quite some time and this is the second series that I have fallen in love with. This book was filled with the same excitement and suspense as if I was reading the very first book in this series. I can't believe that this series has come to a close and Shane Hamilton's life is finally told.
This is the fourth book in the McIntire County Series and can be read as a standalone. I recommend for readers to start with the first book in the series to better understand the characters and how they are related with the exception of Shane and Liza.
Shane Hamilton is the Sheriff in Eider, Iowa and he finally gets to tell his story and those deep, deep secrets that he had never told anyone, not even his bestfriend, Con. It seems that the Sheriff is going to have his hands full again with more homicides and more trouble. But that is not the only problem; well, not problem but more like difficulty in trying to figure out his feelings for an FBI Agent. There are feelings that are stirring deep in his stomach and he doesn't know what to do with them.
FBI Agent Liza Bartholomew is working a case that has brought her back to Eider, Iowa but no one is supposed to know that she is back in town. This is a case that she has been following for years and now is her time to put him behind bars. But nothing is ever so easy when it comes to McIntire County especially since it seems that there have been lots of homicides that have been happening in the area. Now it seems that the person that she is looking for could be part of a homicide and the evidence that she was looking for could have been in the house fire. Now all she can do is continue her investigation as fast as she can before her boss has her head. Well actually she is not the only one there ; her brother is ready to chop her head too.
Shane and Liza will be working together in trying to figure out who has killed the apparent suspect. Could that suspect be the person she is looking for or could he have already fled knowing that she is back and ready to take him to prison? Shane can't believe that it's happening again, that more people are being killed in his county and he knows that the townspeople will be looking for answers. In the midst of the investigation the inevitable happens and there is a shooting and the Sheriff gets hurt. That's not the only thing that happens in this story but Shane and Liza share a couple of kisses and those feelings are starting to develop.
Shane has been very secretive about his life and the people closest to him have no idea what happened all those years ago. They know that something awful happened especially when he disappears on the same days every year. The people he works with along with his friends have figured out that he was a military man but nothing else as of yet. Then there is Liza a wonderful woman that is ready to be done with the FBI. She has been thinking a lot about having a family and the years keep going by but there is a problem. Her brother needs help with his son and Liza is the only one that is able to calm him down when he is having his episodes. Liza is a strong, compassionate woman and deserves to be happy with Shane.
LIAR, LIAR was a great read and I'm saddened that this series has come to an end. Now even though this read had me enthralled from the beginning to the very end there was one thing that was missing from this story. When this story ended I was expecting maybe something more on Shane and Liza. I know that they had a happily ever after but what happened between Liza, her brother and her nephew?
Ms. Austin's writing was flawless and I felt every single word in this story. Soulmates meet when they least expect it and there is nothing that they can do to run from it. I loved the amount of twists, surprises and suspense this story had and when it finally came to a close all I could do was sigh with sadness but also with happiness.
This is the 4th book in the McIntire County Series. These books can be read as a standalone however once you read one you will want to read them all. I love this author's writing. The stories are gripping and full of twists and turns that keep you guessing until the end. The descriptions of places and people are what really brings this story to life. If you close your eyes you can picture everything as if it really existed and you are part of it. As with the previous books this is a murder mystery with a touch of romance. This is a story full of secrets and lies as well as danger for present circumstances and heartbreak over past experiences. The main characters are both stubborn and headstrong and this is what causes some of the conflict between them. Sheriff Shane Hamilton has a lot to deal with. With the anniversary of his wife's death and now a dead body being found the last thing he needs is an FBI agent coming into town and making an already stressful time even worse. Liza Bartholomew has returned to the County on the trail of a dangerous man who keeps evading her. This could be her chance to finally capture him and bring him to justice but she needs the co-operation of the local sheriff who isn't exactly thrilled to see her. Could there possible be a connection between the sheriff's murder and the dangerous man Liza is after? When everyone they love and care about becomes targets they realise they need to work together if they are going to stop the person responsible. Is it possible for them to even work together? What will happen when the feelings turn from a dislike of each other into something romantic. How dangerous will it be for both of them to let down their guards and allow someone in to their lives. This book is a real page turner which I couldn't put down. There is so many angles to this story but the way they all come together as they story unfolds really make these books enjoyable to read.
Winter Austin loves suspense, horses, and cowboys. Jeez, who wouldn’t right? And her upcoming release, Liar, Liar, is no exception. She saved the best for last in the final installment in the McIntire County series [can’t tell you how sad it makes me this is the final book].
In brief, Shane, the sheriff who appears in each book of this series, at fifty years old gets his long overdue chance to be the hero in this book about finding love with the least likely of people amidst some seriously screwed up happenings. I mean this tiny town in Iowa has been riddled with horror for at least four years and hopefully they’ll have some peace now.
Federal agent Liza Bartholomew, Boyce’s former partner [remember him?] is hot on the trail of the bad-guy that got away. Catching him is her final goal before retiring and focusing on the needs of her family. Unwelcome and poorly timed, tasked by a supervisor who openly dislikes and disapproves of her with keeping her mission as low-key as possible, she’s launched into the middle of a multiple murder investigation.
Oh and a sizzling hot attraction to the sheriff du jour.
If you can’t tell, I really enjoyed this book. Once I got started I couldn’t put it down. Winter is incredibly talented at weaving together a story with tense, frightening, suspense and truly irredeemable bad guys, without ever going graphic with the language, the violence, or the sex; and you never notice that those elements are missing. In fact, I could pass this book to my thirteen year old daughter with as little hesitation as I would pass it to my mother.
Liar, Liar is Book Four in The McIntire County Series. It is a romantic suspense book filled with action, danger, drama, crime, murder, mystery, and mayhem. The story is set in the small town of Eider, Iowa, and centers around the characters of Sherriff Shane Hamilton and FBI Agent Liza Bartholomew. Sherriff Hamilton is trying to solve the case of a series of random arsons as well as two homicides. FBI Agent Bartholomew has been tracking an elusive scam artist and is determined to bring him to justice. She learns his last known whereabouts are in Eider, Iowa and that is where she goes. When Liza Bartholomew arrives, she receives a less than friendly welcome from Sherriff Shane Hamilton. Neither want to work with the other but they soon reluctantly team up when they learn that both of their cases are somehow intertwined. Soon the two are in a deadly game of cat and mouse with a cold-blooded killer who is leaving a trail of bodies in his wake. As the two spend time together a slow burning romance begins between them, but will they act on it? Shane has seen his share of trauma in his past which haunts him to this day. He is unsure what to do with his feelings for Liza who is strong, compassionate, and kind. Liza wants a family but feels obligated to help her brother with his son. Can Liza and Shane find happiness with one another? This story is full of raw emotion, anger, sadness, hurt, loss, secrets, lies, betrayal, heartbreak, and unexpected love. The twists and turns will keep you on the edge of your seat and have you reading until the end.
We are back into Eider, Shane Hamilton is happy to have some time off as it is coming but as he enjoys his away time his phone suddenly starts ringing of the hook. When he discover that they have found a body, he decides to investigate the case but can he find the murderer but can he find the killer before more bodies are discovered.
Liza Bartholomew is back in the small town of Eider, tracking the evidence of the one that got away, back in action but can she find him this time, but when the case takes a turn and she has too join forces with the Sheriff can they work together to solve the murders.
This is the four book in this series and is just as thrilling and full of twists and turns as the other books. The book can be read as a stand alone story but some of the characters do inter change within the four books, Liza was first introduced in book two and the sparks flew off the page then but in this book you get to see more behind the woman and the drive. This book is full of twists and turns which have you turning the pages of the book and nearly reading this book in one sitting.
You also get to see the intense passion of Shane and some of his back history which adds to the story and you get a better insight to what makes him tick.
Another great story and can't wait to read more in the future.
We are back in the Eider police department, this time following the story of Sheriff Shane Hamilton following his "just barely" win of the election. On top of the win causing blowback, Sheriff Hamilton is dealing with two homicides and multiple cases of arson. Add the work stressors rising to the distraction of a personal anniversary, he is wanting nothing more than a bit of time to sort his feelings and emotions regarding it all.
Unfortunately, FBI agent Liza Bartholomew appears in that same time frame on a tip that a scam artist she has been pursuing for years has been spotted there. Liza has a history with Eider, and coming back was never in her plan. With a thirst for vengeance on behalf of the victims and racing to protect her career, Liza refuses to let the town sheriff hold her back, no matter what he may stir in her. When they realize their cases are connected, they have to decide to work together, in spite of their feelings on relationships and their chemistry, as well as the high stress cases and Liza ending up back in Eider.
Really have enjoyed the Eider PD series, the characters are likeable, the suspense is palpable, the writing is compelling and keeps you flipping the pages. There's romance, danger, trauma, some steam, bad guys and the good ones who pursue them.
Liar, Liar is book four in the McIntire County series and is a standalone story that is easy to follow without reading the previous three. I DO still recommend reading them in order if you can, for some back story and character development that (for me) makes the story so much better. This time around, we are focusing on Sheriff Shane Hamilton. After quite the year, he just wants some down time and quiet time to himself to reflect on all that has come to pass. That wish comes to an abrupt halt when his phone starts ringing nonstop and a body is found. FBI Liza Bartholomew gets word of the murder and is pulled back to Eider, Iowa...a place she thought she would never have to return to. Now the suspect she is chasing may know she is on the trail and her entire cover could be blown. It doesnt take long for the two to realize their cases are connected, and are forced to work together to find the killer before anyone else is found dead. A reluctant partnership becomes a bit more friendly, and a romance starts to bud. Liar Liar is a great addition to an already amazing storyline, and the plots keep thickening and twisting with each book. These are books you will want to read in one sitting, but be aware that not all the answers are always given! The not-so-clean endings can be frustrating but keeps you coming back for the next one.
It's been awhile where I've across a really could murder/mystery/romance. Not having read the first three books in the series I had a bit of trepidation about coming into it so late in the game. As I found out quite quickly, once I started reading, my hesitations were unfounded. The author made it quite easy to get up to speed on all the players in the series.
The story itself was masterful in taking you on a twisting, turning roller coaster of a ride from the onset. With all the surprises along the way, I still did not see the ending coming. Gotta love an author who can completely blindside you with the totally unexpected.
I truly enjoyed the characters, each in their own flawed way made for a much more interesting storyline. Having the backgrounds that Shane and Liza did, brought more believability to their driven personalities. As the story unfolded, their growing relationship was the perfect foil to the intenseness of the intrigue and tension of the murders and subsequent fallout. The story ending was perfect in tying up loose ends, yet leaving the door open for more from the characters and the series.
This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, secrets, suspense, and heartbreak.
I recommend reading the below before this story Atonement (McIntire County #1) Born to Die (McIntire County #2) Sins of the Father (McIntire County #3)
This is Liza and Shane’s story. Shane has a ton of secrets that he wants hidden. When there is yet another murder he wonders if he is just getting to old for all this activity in his town. When Liza comes strolling back into his town he wonders what for. He is not fond of the FBI since Boyce stirred up so much trouble. Liza has her own issues. She has secrets she does not want out and she needs to solve this case, so she can leave her job. When the case gets crazier by the day they have to wonder if they will ever solve it. But when she thinks she has it figured out the event turn, and the suspects change. There is a time when all the truths and secrets come out, but will she live to have justice? Or will one wrong move cost her everything? Do Shane and Liza have a future or will he walk away from her because he thinks she needs it?
I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
Liar, Liar is the fourth book in the McIntire County series by Winter Austin, who ups the ante again with this fantastic addition to the series. I have been loving this series and was excited to find out what Liar, Liar had in store for us. It’s an intriguing romantic suspense with crime and investigation, murder, mystery, action, danger, a cold-blooded killer, dramatic developments, tension, emotion, secrets, politics, duty, responsibility, and finding love unexpectedly- all wrapped up in a gripping storyline that had me hooked right from the get-go. Sheriff Shane Hamilton and FBI agent Liza Bartholomew are forced to combine their efforts and join forces when their respective cases become connected. The stakes get higher as feelings become involved- but with a dangerous killer in the mix things are going to get even more complicated. What ensues makes for a gripping read. Even though this could be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the previous books before starting on this one, as they will help lay foundations and ‘build’ a bigger picture which will help immerse you in the series. Not sure where we go from here, I hope this isn’t the end of the series though… Happy Reading…
The McIntire County Series is an amazing book series that continues from the first book to the fourth book, with each book building upon the characters who each have a new case to solve. I love a good suspenseful story, and this one did not disappoint me in any way at all. I loved that we finally read about the Sheriff, Shane Hamilton, and understand why he acts the way he does throughout this series. You get this feeling that something is weighing on his mind and body, but it never even hints at what could possibly be on his mind. I loved that Liza Bartholomew gets to rejoin the story line, not only as an FBI agent, but also as a love interest for Shane, who has kept his heart locked up ever since the horrible tragedy that struck his life many years prior. What an amazing read this was, it holds you captivated throughout the entire story, with never a dull moment. You see so many unexpected twists and turns and fear for the safety of your favorite characters. Winter Austin is one of my favorite authors for writing thrilling suspense series, I even got my teenage son hooked on her books. I cannot wait to see what else she has available to read, as well as looking forward to more books yet to come. You will not want to miss reading this hit book series. @Brandy Rymer 10/2023
"Liar, Liar: The McIntire County Series" by Winter Austin is an enthralling start to a thrilling series. Austin's writing style is gripping and fast-paced, keeping readers hooked from the first page to the last.
One of the standout aspects of "Liar, Liar" is the well-developed characters. Austin expertly crafts a cast of supporting characters who add depth and complexity to the story, making them feel authentic and relatable.

"Liar, Liar" delivers on these expectations, presenting readers with a complex murder case that keeps them guessing until the very end. Austin's ability to create suspense and maintain a sense of tension throughout the book is truly commendable.
Overall, "Liar, Liar: The McIntire County Series" is a must-read for fans of thrilling mysteries. Winter Austin's skillful storytelling, well-rounded characters, and gripping plot make this novel a great introduction to the series, leaving readers eagerly anticipating the next installment.
Liar, Liar (The McIntire County Series Book 4) by Winter Austin. I have loved this series so much and I loved this book the most! It's the story of Sheriff Shane Hamilton who has just won another election. The election was very hard and he has taken off for a quite weekend away. While he's away his phone begins to blow up because a body has been found. Now his weekend away is gone. FBI agent Liz Bartholomew has come back to Eider, Iowa not of her own free will but because of a case. The suspect she is after has last been spotted there. She is not looking forward to running into the Sheriff but knows its inevitable. They have a history even though it didn't end up pretty. When her case goes wonky she has to work with Shane and even though those old feelings come back she is trying to ignore them. Shane is not in the market for a relationship either but can't help his feelings when he starts working with Liz again. Such a good mystery/romance!
This is the fourth book in this series which just keeps getting better and better with every book. I highly suggest reading the previous books in this series as they are just as great as this one. This book is a fantastic addition to the series and was just as interesting and compelling as the others. It can be read as a standalone, although the whole series is worth reading. I was pulled straight into the story, which was complex and detailed. A lot happens throughout the story and I enjoyed watching it all unfold. The characters were interesting and engaging. I liked the history between and the layer it added to the story. their chemistry was evident from the offset, and watching them navigate everything part of what made this book so good. I have enjoyed every book from this series and I can wait for more.
