Anger Management

Kamdyn
Three months. Twelve weeks. Eighty-four days.
I can do this. Easy.
Or so I thought…

Let’s get one thing I don’t belong in anger management. After catching my girlfriend
cheating, I may have been slightly emotionally unstable when I had a run with a meter maid
attempting to give me a parking ticket, which caused me to end up in this situation.
But that didn’t matter because I had a plan.

I would smile, laugh at the right moments, charm everyone around me, completing all my
coursework early. Be the perfect student. And put this anger management mess behind me.
But then she had to ruin it with her woe-is-me attitude and dark, long silky hair that would drive
any man mad. All my plans are crashing down.

I can’t fail.
I won’t fail.
My only other option is jail. And that isn’t happening.

Clara
This is hell. It has to be.

I never expected to spend my summer here. In a community rec center listening to a touchy-
feely, ponytail-sporting counselor drone on about how to harness my emotions, all while getting
a massive case of swam ass.

To make matters even worse, there’s a pretty, perfect kiss-ass who seems entirely unfazed by
our current court-ordered situation. And that just won’t do.

After our constant clashing disrupts the class for what feels like the millionth time, our counselor
gives us an ultimatum; partner up or fail and risk possible jail time.

When we are thrown together week after week, I soon realize that we are fire and gasoline. The
heat between us is undeniable.

But the more we mix, the more explosive things are bound to get.

If you know me, you know enemies to lovers is my fave trope, but you also know that I don’t stray from fantasy like ever. This book did not disappoint and actually made me want to read outside fantasy some more. I laughed. I cried. I cussed. I screamed. I fell in love with the characters’ journey.

I loved the tension and build up of Clara and Kamdyn’s relationship. And who doesn’t love a hot, tatted asshat?
The spice was *Chef’s kiss* 🌶️🌶️🌶️ I’m a sucker for a dude who goes down without being asked😈
Clara’s attitude made me mad in the beginning, but she had every right to have those emotions with her situation. I loved her and Kammy’s snarky banter and flirting.
The reveal of Stevie/Steph had me screaming. I would love to know more about how all that played out later on after everything.
June was such a fun character and I was so sad when she was gone 😭 But it was perfect that she had everything planned out for Kammy to live his dream life. And her ghost will live on forever watching him be naked. 😂
I was cracking up at neither of them being right about Stean’s name, and I could just picture him in his Hawaiian shirts getting mad at them and trying not to cuss.
This was such a fun book! I can’t wait to see what other fun, sexy romances Bretta will release!

This book was top tier cute, one of the best rom-coms I have read all year. The banter 😘 The spice and tension 🌶️The romance ❣️

ALL of the characters in this book I found to be fabulous. All of their friends and the people from anger management class all had me smiling at one time or another. Kams' crazy old lady neighbor and Claras sex positive bff L.O.V.E them! The bromance between Kam and his bff Marcus was straight perfect. Those men have one of the healthiest relationships in this book 😆 and I soaked up every line of it. I want more.

“Ants. I will always choose ant bites over people and small talk. It's something a lot of people don't understand about me.”

When I first read that part of the book, let me tell you when I say I felt heard. I loved the FMC Clara. She is not a people person (me either). She is quiet and reserved and keeps her circle small. Our MMC is the perfect book boyfriend. He is so freaking funny and is so loving and plus he hangs out with dogs from an animal shelter and owes a house 👀 what is not to love.

“I love you more than words can or will ever describe. I am yours, and you are mine, into infinity and beyond.”

Thank You so much for the ARC!

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

I was given the amazing opportunity to receive an arc for Anger Management. Anger Management was my first book by Bretta Elaine. This was a top tier rom-com, the spice and banter were on fire!

Anger Management is Bretta Elaine’s debut novel and I feel she did an outstanding job with her first published book. She did an amazing job weaving the story together and creating loveable characters. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Both MCs were sent to Anger Management for 12 weeks. All the characters were amazing and I fell in love with both MCs. They had me laughing the whole time. Watching them go from enemies to lovers was really special. Their love developed over time, it wasn’t an insta love connection, it was more of a I have to put up with you since we are in the same class and being assigned together. The love interest slowly developed over time, but their banter started off from the beginning. I loved Kam’s crazy old neighbor, I couldn’t get enough of her and her hilarious comments.

I love that the book had a unique setting, it wasn’t a typical workplace, or friends of friends, it took place at an anger management class. That was interesting in itself and add the characters, main and side characters and it was a recipe for awesome reading.

I enjoyed this book because it had the banter, the spice, the enemies to lovers, and had me laughing and yelling as I was reading.

I recommend this book if you like

this was a little underwhelming. i expected so much more from where the plot was going initially. the twists and turns were all predictable. however, i did love the unique setting i.e an anger management centre
it honestly would have been an easy five star if, either it would have been cut short to about 200 pages or with the introduction of a bunch likeable side characters
as a debut novel, bretta elaine did an amazing job at weaving the story together. i certainly will be reading more by her in the future.

Clara and Kamdyn are both attending a court ordered Anger Management course in order to escape “jail time” after being arrested.

Kamdyn is a teacher, and fears he will lose his job if he doesn’t complete the course. Luckily for him, school has finished for the Summer, so he is able to complete the syllabus without drawing attention to himself.

Clara is an aesthetician, and is under pressure from her boss, who is holding the threat of losing her job over her head, and expecting more & more from her.

Kamdyn & Clara do not get on with each other at their first meeting of the Anger Management course. In fact, Clara despises Kamdyn for his good looks and easy going attitude, and Kamdyn thinks Clara is surly when she refuses to share why she is at the group.

I really enjoyed the story of Kamdyn and Clara and their court ordered activities, where they were often thrown together as a team.
There were bumps in the road along the way, many of which brought them closer, but Clara held onto her reasons for being there in the first place.
The characters were both likeable and believable, as was their growing relationship, and I couldn’t wait to find out how the story ended.

Neither of them want to be there and it brings out the worst in their personalities. Trying to suffer through three months of court ordered anger management is bad enough but sitting next to the snarky and sarcastic woman with the angry eyes makes things worse. But soon, Kamdyn can't help laughing at her sarcastic humor and craving time spent with her. She's the first person he's ever felt like he can be himself around, not the perfect shell everyone expects.
She shouldn't even be here at all, so Clara can't seem to suck up to the teacher like everyone else, especially the blonde hottie that acts just a bit too perfect. She can't help ribbing him, trying to dent that perfect shell he hides behind... and the real man behind the shell is perfect for her.
At first I hated Clara, she just seemed mean and angry. But her snarky comments started to grow on me and I was soon laughing at their banter. Kam's inappropriate elderly neighbor June was honestly my favorite character. She was so hilarious and over the top with her comments and flirting. And Kam is the perfect book boyfriend: sensitive yet strong, kind yet fiercely protective of those he cares about. I absolutely loved his character. This is a new to me author and I look forward to reading more.

What a wonderful rom-com read! I was absolutely blown away and loved every minute of this read. Our main characters are Clara and Kamdyn who both find themselves serving time in anger management class as opposed to having to serve time. While we're awarded Kam's story pretty quickly there is a mystery surrounding why Clara is serving time. I adored the dual point of views and how these two were complete opposites only to find commonality and compassion and so much more as their time together progresses. So much fun - wonderful banter, smooth storyline, great characters wonderful balance of sweet and steamy - Kam really is such a sweetheart and Clara really is nice just doesn't always come thru that way (I get it, I don't like to people either). Secondary characters are wonderful too - Kam's bff, his neighbor and the shelter volunteers and well as Clara's bff's (what happened with her relationship with...) - I would have liked to have known more about the other characters they were in anger management class with too- really the instructor and neck tattoo guy are the only ones mentioned. Overall, a delightfully fun read that checked all my boxes - sweet, steamy and funny! Hope more is to come soon from author Brette Elaine!

When I started the book I really didn't like Clara, she was rude, standoffish, catty and just plain unlikeable, but she did grow on me. Once she started to interact with Kam and relax a little she was really likeable. So if you're unsure whilst starting this book, persevere, she does get better, I swear.

This book was great fun to read. The banter and conversations Kam and Clara had were funny and playful. They were a great match, but personal circumstances and history sometimes got in the way.

Kam's 90+ year old neighbour was my favourite, she objectified Kam at every opportunity, it was so funny and he accepts it in good humour.

Kam seems to be the perfect book boyfriend, funny, smart, handsome, and friendly. It's a stark contrast to Clara who doesn't like people in general.

We have to wait a while to find out why Clara made the class, and the delay does make sense but was still frustrating.

They get their deserved ending and we get a little epilogue to see how they're getting on.

Very Slow Burn, Insta-Hate into More?, Forced Proximity in Anger Management Class makes for Fun!

This was a fun read with great characters, witty and often hysterical dialog, as well as great flirting and banter between the main characters leading to their slow burn. I felt that the Kamdyn's motivations and reasons for being in the Anger Management class were well explained and flushed out and we really understood his character and motivations. I did feel that it was harder to like and understand Carla because the whole explanation of why she was in class and struggling financially came a bit too late in the story. As we get to know her through Kamdyn's eyes and realize she is a good person it became easier to root for them as a couple. Otherwise I really enjoyed the book and would highly recommend it - Enjoy!

I was sent an ARC of this book by the author and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

Oh the chemistry between our FMC and MMC was amazing - a slow burn, forced proximity, hate to love romance.

This is in a different setting to my usual reads - a court ordered Anger Management session every Friday night - but I loved the plot and how our FMC, Clara and MMC, Kamdyn, have to see each other each week, despite hating each other.

'I'm not sure how that correlated to me being selfish or a bitch, but what can I say? I'm an introvert'.

But of course, hate can turn into love.. Clara and Kamdyn's bickering was hilarious, and I loved watching their relationship grow. I started this book not really liking Clara and her attitude, but she definitely grew on me once we found out more about her, and I loved to see her growth with Kamdyn.

'Ants. I will always choose ant bites over people and small talk. It's something a lot of people don't understand about me'.

I can't wait to read more from Bretta!

Okay, this book was exactly what I needed. While some people might think Clara was mean, I couldn't help but relate to her personality. Guarded and extremely sarcastic. Once you learn more about her you start to understand why. It's easy to use sarcasm as a defense mechanism, so I feel you Clara. Clara and Kamdyn's personalities together were my favorite, their banter was perfect.

The spicy scenes were great and I liked the author's note at the end begging her son not to read this book. Ha loved that! I also really loved Kamdyn's relationship with his best friend. It really helped developed his character. I do think he got a little sappy toward the end that seemed a bit far from his original impressions, but nothing that took away or made me like the book any less. Quick, fun easy read.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 stars

This was a fantastic romcom that made me smile continually throughout.

I instantly loved the main characters, Clara and Kam, both for different reasons. Clara is a feisty, quiet, non-peopley person and Kam is funny, sweet and loving man. Their opposite personalities is what made them so perfect for each other.

The back-and-forth banter between Clara and Kam had me giggling like crazy. But I couldn’t wait for the two of them to give into the sexual tension and desire that was slowly building between them. Theirs was definitely not a love at first sight relationship, but over time Clara and Kam start to develop something neither one could deny.

This story was well written with a unique setting, fantastic characters and a storyline that kept me fully entertained the whole way through.

This is an ARC review and these are my honest thoughts and opinions. Bretta did a fabulous job of developing the characters of Kam(MMC) and Clara(MFC). I loved how their love was not " love at first site" but that their love developed over a span of time. Anger Management is such a fun Rom-Com, this one had me laughing so hard I was crying! The neighbor,  the best friends,  the instructor,  literally fell in love with all of them lol. I truly cant believe this was Brettas debut novel, her writing came across as a person who has been doing this for ages.I will most definitely be recommending this book to others!
I want to say thank you to Bretta and Kelsey for my ARC to read and review. As always ,please check the TW!

I read this description and I was sold. I put on hold the other book I was reading because I knew this is what I needed to read. A lighthearted read with two ppl in the wrong place at the wrong time that created a happy accident of anger management classes. I loved both characters but Kam is a teddy bear of a book boyfriend. Who wouldn’t live a guy who walks rescue dogs and favorite movie is Toy Story! It was a great read and ended with a nice happy ending. I just wish there would’ve been a little more apology from Chloe to Clara for being leads than the best of a twin. In the end she found the love she needed!I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

3.5 stars that I rounded up to 4 for goodreads star rating.

I initially struggled to connect to this book tbh. I found the FMC wildly unlikeable and the pacing was incredibly slow. Eventually, around maybe the 50% mark, the pace picked up and things started to get interesting. Clara became more likeable and the insults between the two became less vicious and more like cute banter.

I enjoyed some of the side characters like Marcus, Tay and June but the rest I found a bit boring. I totally called the reveal about Stevie from the very beginning but I’m kinda bummed Clara never confronted Stevie and it just got pushed to the wayside.

Overall this was a fairly decent romance. It had its sweet and funny moments and Clara and Kamdyn really were pretty cute.

Clara and Kamdyn have been enrolled in anger management classes or face jail time. Neither wants to be there and when they end up sitting next to each other they bicker a lot. The leader assigns them tasks to complete together and spending more time together changes their relationship. I really enjoyed this book. Clara has issues with her twin sister yet is willing to do anything for her. Kamdyn caught his girlfriend in bed with another man, may lose his teaching job and is at lose ends. Together Clara and Kamdyn face their problems. I loved Kamdyn’s elderly neighbor, June. The tasks she has him do for her add a lot to the story. Great book about caring and giving of yourself.

Anger Management - what a cute premise, but it didn't live up to what I'd hoped. The writing was easy to ready, but the slow burn was REALLY SLOW. I don't mind a good slow burn from time to time, but man, this was the slowest.

And I didn't find myself vested in the characters till the end. It felt as if there was too much detail in the beginning and not the unfortunate mad race at the end when all the beautiful things happen. And they were most definitely "beautiful things."

There is so much potential in this story, and I hope to watch Bretta grow as a writer in the future.

I enjoyed the weekly meetings, but Clara's attitude bugged me so much at the beginning. As we got to know her through the book, her personality makes sense. It did frustrate me a little that it took so long into the book to find out why Clara was in AM, but the reveal was worth the wait in my opinion.

And the scream I let loose when I was right about Clara's friend! The tension was awesome!!

I feel like if Clara had a more complex reason for why she was in AM, I would've rated it higher. As it is, I felt it was a kind of weak and uninteresting.

What a fun rom-com.

Anger Management introduces us to Kamdyn and Clara, both given 2 options: Go to jail, or attend court ordered anger management. As you can expect, the two do not get along. Clara is pretty hot headed from the start. Kamdyn gets on her nerves at every meeting. When they are paired together for almost every single weekly task, eventually the sparks fly. There's a lot of fun moments, the banter between them is entertaining. If you like a fun rom-com, enemies to lovers novel, this one checks all the boxes.

I finished this book in one sitting! I was immediately drawn in by this book. I love good banter and this delivered with funny and snarky comments. There were definite laugh out loud moments.

An enemies-to-lovers story about a Kamdyn and Clara who are forced to complete a 12 week anger management course to stay out of jail. Over their weekly meetings they slowly start to fall for each other.

Oh, and how could you not love Kamdyn's elderly neighbor, June. She was a fantastic character as well.

Boy did I enjoy this book! Clara, the female MC, is snarky and sassy in all the right ways. I love her attitude, but also her soft side. Kamdyn, the male MC, is equally as lovable and definitely book boyfriend material. Their caracters were well developed and I enjoyed their not-so-meet-cute and their enemies to lovers story line. June, Kamdyn's elderly neighbor, added a lot of fun and humor to story.

5 ☆ for story + just the right amount of spice

This was one of the top ten romantic comedies I’ve read this year! And trust me when I tell you that I read A LOT of rom-coms! From the characters, to the spice, to the tension, and OH LORD THE BANTER… It was all five stars from me! I loved the premise of this book and the execution and writing style was so on point! I will definitely be recommending this book to all of my friends and family! And buying copies for a lucky few of them!

'Anger Management' was funny. The levity-filled plot focused on two people, Clara and Kamdyn, who had to participate in a series of group anger management sessions. Somehow, their paths kept crossing outside the sessions where they mostly engaged negatively with each other. Then, they had an epiphany. Kudos to the author for shedding light on an adult with ADD. Overall, I really liked the narrative's ironic tone and the unexpected surprise at the end.

This was a simple (and cute) and different read for me.
I’m usually down for banter but this banter was annoying and unnecessary. I did not see much of an emotional connection between the two main characters, and once they did form one it happened so quickly it was unrealistic.
Also, don’t get me started on her sister and how pointless her character was. It brought nothing to the story except how she got into AM. Also, their conflict moment was stupid

What more could a woman ask for?

I laughed, I cried, I screamed, and I ....! Girl, the sexual tension and banter was something out of a master class! The writing felt real and relatable. I devoured this book in one sitting! I'm so impressed by this debut novel! Can't wait to continue following Bretta Elaine's writing journey.

Aww love them! I want more. Loved the banter, their true friends, and the dogs. I love an enemies to lovers but I liked that there a slow burn and time for them to build a relationship. I was suspicious of Steive. But loved that he never thought of her and a second chance. I can’t wait to read more from author. Debut novel. His neighbor was crazy and spoke her mind #goals.
