Lynn Kirby is the author of four middle grade novels about a group of friends who dream of becoming top figure skaters. Although Lynn grew up in the south with no ice rinks nearby, she fell in love with skating while watching the Winter Olympics. When her daughter later became involved in the sport, the friendships among the young skaters at the rink were the inspiration behind A Perfect Landing and the other books in the Winning Edge Series. When she isn’t writing, Lynn enjoys reading and collecting books, cooking, and planning a trip to London someday. She lives in Atlanta with a black cat named Skittles.
I was first introduced to this series by my 4th grade school teacher who would read it to the class - we didn't study it, do book reviews etc I'm pretty sure it was for our enjoyment and to introduce us to Christian fiction (I went to a Christian school). Anyways, I ended up buying and reading the series and it became a dream of mine to go ice skating (not unusual for an Australian to be that age and have never been ice skating). I ended up taking lessons and even competed individually and mainly as part of a synchronized ice skating team. These books also encouraged me in my faith as these girls learnt about priorities, serving God, dealing with disappointment etc. I cannot thank Lynn enough for introducing me to the sport and for all the enjoyment I received while reading these books over and over again.
