The Dragons, a ruthless gang, raised her to be a cold hearted killer, and they got what they deserved.
The FBI says they are helping her, but Tori can feel the scheme behind their lies...
Tori Farrell is on a mission to find her true identity, to break the ties to a dark underworld for good, and to save the people she cares about most - the family she has never known.
She wants a new life, but first she must lay to rest the demons of her past.

Wow! I am so invested in this story that I just read straight through till I finished ... with a cliffhanger ending
The author writes with such an easy style and has an amazing story to tell. My emotions were high, low, worried, smiling at little victories and delighted as Tori's story progresses. I love the way in which multiple stories are being intertwined, so that the reader dare not make assumptions, as they will be shattered, I am sure.
If you haven't yet read Captive, then please read it first, or you will miss the whole point of this story. There are back references that refresh the memory, but that is all. Anyway, how you could you not want to read the first in this great series. I can tell I am in the for the long haul.
(Luckily I am in the very privileged position of having book three ready to go!)
WOW Samantha this book was amazing!!! I've read the first on and loved it, but this one was hands down my favorite. I love Tori and she is my favorite female character!! I recommend this series it fast paced and amazing. Kept me on the edge of my seat!!
*I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads*
WOW. So Captive (Book 1) was really just Tori's back-story to bring us to the present. Bound picks up right where we ended. AND what a ride it was! It has action, emotion, romance...and she FINALLY starts to learn who she is (not based on how she's been used). Tori becomes a person, and we get to watch her journey :) The story ends on a cliff-hanger (SERIOUS cliff-hanger) and I just need to know what's going on. These books are well written, addictive, quick reads and I will definitely be checking more of Samantha Jacobey's work.
Once again I find myself trying to turn past the last page! This second story was every bit as good as the first, but without being quite as dark. I didn't want it to end! Tori is moving on to the next stage of her life and journey as she begins the process towards emancipation. Will she be able to cope with her past? Who can she trust? Will she ever be able to fully move on and start anew? Plus many, many more questions, as the author still hasn't laid all the cards out on the table yet. I absolutely cannot wait until the next book comes out to find out all of the answers. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for the next one. Be sure to pick up this book, and it's predecessor, "Life of Recovery", you won't be disappointed!
This is the second book in the series,it seemed more in depth and involved more emotions on the readers part, hence the higher rating than the first book....it still sucks you in and now I'm waiting on the third :)
Amazing Second book in the series!!! Awesome!!! Wonderful!!! Only thing I wish was different is the Cliff hanger!!! :) Good thing the next one is coming out soon!!! Must read!!! Awesome!!!
This series must be read in order. The first book is Captive: Book 1 - Formerly Life of Recovery (A New Life). This is the second book. The third book is Entwined: Book 3 of A New Life Series.
Arriving in LA is daunting for Tori as she is leaving behind the only real friends she has ever made. She has been abused and used by everyone but them all her life and now she is being forced into a situation she does not know how to deal with at all without the only two people she has ever trusted in the whole world. She knows that she is an adult and has been for years (after all she spent 15+ years with The Dragons and her first memories of them were as a small child so she had to be at least 3 when they took her) but the FBI has labelled her 15 so there is nothing she can do about it.
This book is full of suspense and intrigue. There is a small bit if romance but mostly it's about a woman's coming of age as she finds her way in the law abiding world of jobs and responsibilities. Tori gains a surrogate family that means more to her than anything else ever could. She has many hard choices to make especially as her past mysteriously catches up with her... The little bit of action in this book ties both books together nicely and the cliffhanger ending leaves you clamoring for the next book NOW! I sure know I can't wait to read it :)
***This series is suitable for adult readers only due to graphic violence and abuse among other things :)
After reading and fully giving 5 stars to Samantha Jacobey for her book 1, I was thinking, is this the book that will let it down? Sometimes I find authors write book one, book 2, book 2.05 etc, and it gets rather tedious for me. OK I'm not easily pleased!
I read a lot of books I guess, so far this year I have read 145 books, so I guess I'm getting choosey.
Boy was I in for a shock! This book was just as good at the first one.
Tori is now trying to start a new life.
After reading book 1, I wondered how she could 'get' a new life. She's under protection, but I was thinking more inline with her scars, not just physically but mentally too. I wondered if this would make her into something she thought was 'normal' reacting to guys like it was 'normal' doing things like it was 'normal'. What could be normal to Tori after the life she has been made to live. Could she recover?
What was more exciting was......was she going to escape the wrath of the "Organization" me finks not!!!
As the blurb says, One day someone handsome charming and oh so nice came into her life.......there began the sequence of events.
I am in awe of this author, where does she dream up this demanding storyline from........off to read book 3!
WOW!!! Even better than the first one! Samantha Jacobey has written another winner. This fantastic sequel picks up right where book one left off. I loved book one and was really looking forward to reading book two. Ms. Jacobey didn’t disappoint me at all, quite the opposite. This book exceeded all of my expectations and left me more than ready for the next installment. If you have already read and enjoyed book one, then trust me this one is even better. You can just stop reading this review and go buy the book! If you haven’t read book one, although you could read it out of sequence and still enjoy it, I highly recommend reading the books in the order the author intended. In case you are still reading just stop and go buy the book(s). Still reading? Okay, here is what I previously posted about book one. "Riveting! This is a compelling story of abuse, rebirth, and emergence. The story carries you along teasing you with the promise of details. You eagerly push forward anxious to learn more. The author does not disappoint and you are gratified. When the story ends you are satisfied, but still want more. I’m keeping this review short because I’m in a hurry to start book 2!” Thanks for reading my review. I’m off to buy book three!
Book: Bound ( New Life # 2) Author: Samantha Jacobey Publication Date: 3/15/2014 Reviewed by: Tammy Payne- Book Nook Nuts My Rating: 5 Stars
REVIEW In this book Tori finds herself being sent to a halfway house in LA of all places. She has severe panic issues on her very first plane ride. Many things fall into place for Tori while she is in LA. She has a job at a Guitar/Music shop which she is really enjoying and she even takes a leap and begins wearing short sleeve shirts. However there is a new member at the halfway house and it’s someone Tori knows from her past. They become involved and Enrique decides to come clean with Tori and then is forced to leave town. Poor Tori it seems there is no happily ever after for her. She has no idea what happened to Eli either. And yes there is a SHOCKER at the end !!!
Fantastic continuing story in the life of Tori .. I am ready to read the next book
Bound is book #2 in the New Life series and picks up where we left Tori. After finally escaping her horrific past, she now, reluctantly, has the chance to start over to some extent, Although it is not the freedom she envisioned, she is sent across country, to meet, live and work with people she doesn't know - something that puts her totally out of her comfort zone, if she ever had one. Upon her arrival, she is set up in a halfway house and with a job, with ex-FBI accent, Terry. Given all that Tori has experience, it's understandable that she is mistrustful of everyone around her. When she finally does allow herself to make a connection, she unwittingly tethers herself to someone from her past, who could be her downfall. Tori's ups and downs continue and she comes close to losing the meagre ground she has gained when she makes some questionable decisions but at the same time learns how important the connection to other people can be. Another beautifully written instalment in this series and far less harrowing than book #1. Given how it ends, I can't wait to see what happens next. Will Tori be safe? Will she come out on top? How will she cope with the next obstacle that's been thrown in her path?
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
Bound is book 2 in Samantha Jacobey's New Life series which will have 7 books in total. The books must be read in order as it is a continuation of Tori's story.
Book 2 takes off from where book 1 left off and we go with Tori to LA as she tries to live a "normal life". Less of this book is spent telling tales of the past although we are taken there several times.
This book was not quite as gripping as the first and at times I felt that story was a little rushed. Once again, Samantha packs a lot in to a story that is less than 200 pages.
I am totally taken in with Tori's story and we are shown both her weaknesses and strengths in Bound. A few questions we may have had are answered but many more remain and new ones raised.
I'm hooked on this series and will be starting book 3 next. If you like a challenging, engaging read, this I'd recommend Bound and the New Life series.
I really enjoyed this author's style of writing. The flow was really good and the storyline is unique, definitely one I haven't seen before which is saying something considering I have 1000+ in my Kindle library. The sex is brutal and the violence disturbing so be prepared. This is only the second of what will be 7 so if you don't like cliffhangers, I suggest you wait. I read the first three in quick succession and now have to wait until June to see what happens next--my only complaint.
Book two of A New Life, love the story. The continuation of Tori's adventure. The second book is amazing, it's better than book 1.
New characters were introduced. All of them have unique qualities that made the story more interesting. The story, it's much more interesting and better. I love how the story went. The way the story ended is also good.. I loved it!
I finished this book last night and had to go on to book 3 straight away, i really don't know how Samantha does it but my god she does it really well. She has a real talent for pulling you into the story and making you believe you are Tori and you can feel everything she is going through. It was a serious OMG when i had finished this book :)
I wasn't sure how I felt about the first book, Captive, but I was intrigued by Tori and needed to.see if she is able to make it through. This book really sucks you in to her story and how it is all going to work out for her. I for one am rooting for her.
Bound is book two from A New Life Series. I have been fortunate as to be able to read all three books that have been published so far without a break in between! Now I am just a short time away from being able to read book 4, then the wait will be on for the next book. I love reading good books in a series, you do not have to say goodbye to your new book friends. You get to stay with them and follow in the adventure.
In Bound we follow Tori to LA where she will be in a half way house for six months. Working and earning a living while under some house rules. It was sad to see Tori have to leave the few friends what she made in Chicago, but I think this is a good thing that they are doing for her… after all she really has had no experience living in the real world.
Someone from her past comes back into her life, and thankfully it does not turn out bad! Tori is working at a music store and learning how to handle a business and doing very well at it and making new friends. She even picks up a guitar and starts to play again, something she had not done since she was a child. She is showing more strength and growth in this book. She does have a relaps with alcohol but gives AA a chance and it helps her in more ways that one.
Just as her six months are up and she is free to leave, someone else from her pasts shows up and she runs! Is he a god guy or is he bad??? Find out in the next book Entwined! Samantha did an excellent job in writing this series and I look forward to reading as many more books to come as she is ready to write!
Samantha I have just one suggestion that might make the wait a little easier is at the beginning of each book write a page to help refresh the readers memory of how the last book left off. Thank you Samantha you have become one of my favorite authors and I look forward to reading more from you!

3.5 - 4 Stars!!!
"I woke up in Mercy Hospital in Chicago thirty-six days ago. I spent four days in the hospital portion, and then was sent over to the mental health ward for twenty-nine days. I spent two nights at the federal building and one night with Eli. In that short amount of time, my life has completely changed. I have gone from bring property of a group of mercenaries living a life of pain and anguish to a young women headed to a halfway house, a job, and a future"
That's sums up what we know so far. Now we take the journey with Tori to finding herself. I loved watching Tori grow as a person.
BUT I WANT MORE ANSWERS. I was left hanging off a cliff. Where's Eli, what does Feds have up their sleeves, Michael, her birth certificate????
I was torn on how to rate this book. There were parts I loved, and parts I found to be completely unbelievable. Example- Tori and Enrique's relationship did not feel right, too soon, not enough build-up. I really had to set that aside in my mind so I could focus on the rest of the story.
I have to say though, I'm intrigued, I definitely want more, and I will continue this web of crazy. I'll put away the things that bother me, because this story is all consuming!!!!!!
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here it is. Tori is headed to LA to maybe get help with fitting into society. She really doesn't know how to act around others that do not want to use her. She misses Eli and Debra and when she calls the F.B.I. office in Chicago, they are no longer assigned to the office. So she feels lost all over again. At the halfway house, there is one other girl there and she is wary of being friends.Things are starting to look up for her until a familiar face from her past shows up at the halfway house. Terry, at the music store, is showing her how the business side of business works and she is catching on fast. Terry feels it is safe to leave her to do the books and paperwork. Tori just wants her time at the halfway house to be over so she can move on and not put her new family in any danger. Seems that danger is always around the corner waiting for her. There are a few twist and turns that I was not expecting and it threw me for a loop. And then the biggest twist is the ending. Can't wait to start Entwined (book 3) shortly.
I was provided a copy of the book by the Author for an honest review.
Wow I just finished reading this book and I love it, I'm so loving this series. Loving the characters, I can't believe it end it like this, now I can't wait to read the next book, this series has a little of action, I'm gone keep this short since I don't want to give anything away.
This book start right where the first book end it.
After the FBI had told Tori what they where going to do is they where sending her to LA. Tori did not have any other choice but to accept, they let her know that she will stay in a halfway house, and that she had a job at a music store, once she arrived to her new location she was not happy about it, but she got herself into a routine by waking up early to go for a run and to work, Terry her boss took it upon himself to teach her how things work, weeks pass by and she became friends with her roommates and Terry, but someone from her past show up. Will she run away or will she face her past.
In this book we get to see Tori open up to others, and we also get to see how she struggling to forget and forgive her past, I can't wait to read the third book in the series to see what will happen next. Author Samantha Jacobey Thanks for introducing me to this awesome series and this amazing characters love them.
"Bound" is book two in the A New Life Series by Samantha Jacobey, and wow this series just hooks you more in with every book! After being relocated to a halfway house in LA, she starts to try and build relationships with the people she comes into contact in order to begin to heal from the past brokenness she has endured. Working at a music/guitar store she learns business skills that will help her after her 6 month period is over, but in turn she realizes her love of the electric guitar. When a new guy is brought into the half way house she recognizes him from her past and becomes scared that he may be there to harm her and those she's come to care about. As more past and present collide will Tori make the right choices to build her new life or will her dreams come crashing down?
These books are well written, addictive, quick reads and I will definitely be checking more of Samantha Jacobey's work.
This series must be read in order so if you haven't read Captive 1st you may want to so you can fully get into this series.
Bound has a lot more action in it and more character details to where you want to beat some of them up if you could. Storyline continues to suck you in to where you want to keep going into the present.
You best hope you already bought book three in the series or you'll be one-clicking soon as your done reading Bound. It does have a huge cliff hanger. So you've been warned ;)
I still highly recommend this series. It has everything you want in a series.
Following on from Captive, this book carries on with the tale of Tori. Thank God this book isn't quite as sad as the previous one!
Tori is beginning her new life away from the horror of the Dragons. She's learning how to live without the constant threat of rape and violence over her head. She's learning how to trust people and that some people want to be her friend, and that's ok.
Her story is told with a mix of the present and flashbacks. The flashbacks are as graphic and brutal and sickening as I remember them being in the first book.
There's no Eli in this book and I kind of missed him. He was one of the good guys and I don't trust the FBI agents dealing with Tori!
Obviously, like all good serials, there is a cliffy at the end of this one.
Omg...I am loving this series soo much. I was hoping to see more of Eli, but hopefully he will make his reappearance in the next book. I love how Tori is on her own and I like to see her building relationships and growing as a character. I love Tori as a character. She is strong, sassy, and determined. I can't wait to see what is in store for her next and see if she can escape the world she was threw into as a child. The only thing I want to know more about who Tori''s real parents are and how she ended up in this violent world with the motorcycle gang. I can't wait to see what Samantha throws at us next!!!
If you have not read book 1 Captive yet then stop and please read it first or else you will be completely lost. When Captive ends it leaves you dangling off a damn cliff!! I kept trying to turn the page but was having no such luck. Bound picks up right where it leaves off. This book is just as great as book 1 but I don't think it is as dark. Tori is trying to move on with her life but will her past keep haunting her? Will she be able to find anyone to trust? I was so mad when I reached the end yet again and of course hanging off the cliff but I am off to go one click book 3 Entwined!! Woot Woot!!
I loved this book just as much as the first there are some crazy twists and turns in this book but you can really tell Tori is growing as a person and that is amazing as well!! The cliffhanger at the end had me holding my breath and thankfully i was able to start right in on the 3rd book. You will love this book!!
I really enjoyed this book. Tori is quite a gritty character and I liked getting to know her better. I felt sorry for her when she got involved with Enrique. I felt like she was rushing in head first and didn't take time to really get to know him. I'm looking forward to the next installment of this series!
Finished Captive yesterday and had to get right into Bound. I'm so sucked in. This story just keeps getting better. When you realize your at the end of the book, you say nooooo and have to start right into the next book. Great job Ms Jacobey for turning me into a Tori addict. I may never get my work done. I can't wait to see how her story unfolds.
