Summer Prescott is well-known in the Cozy Mystery realm, having written and published several Best-Sellers in the genre. An avid reader of Thrillers, Horror and Suspense, the author has decided to follow her passion with the debut of her Thriller, The Quiet Type, which launched in the top 50 of the Serial Killer category on Amazon. The novel has received high praise in its reviews, and Summer is considering a possible trilogy or series to continue the story.
I absolutely adore this series. Macy is a great protagonist. She is widowed and finding she is stronger than she ever thought possible. She has a strong circle of friends.
This installment is about saving the rescue shelter. Of course it can’t go as easy as planned.
I hope she eventually finds a love interest. No, she doesn’t need a man, but I think she would be happy with a companion.
The ending of this book made me cry like a baby. I mean ugly sob. It’s a happy ending for sure, just not the happy ending I was hoping for.
Bone to Pick I know I said the previous book (#3 Paws for Cause) was my favorite… well, now this one is! I actually became teary-eyed at the end. I was crying tears of a love lost and happiness.
Like one of the previous books, a dog that Macy was walking sniffed out a body. Ut-oh! And of course Mountain and Teapot were in this book, but this time they weren’t as suspicious of Macy. That’s probably because she’s handed them the perps on a platter a few times.
Macy is meeting more people throughout each book and has actually made some great friends! Jaz is one. He really helped her out in this book and saved her quite a bit of money. In fact, all he wanted in return was a small amount of money and also for Macy to go out to eat. Another new friend is her neighbor Kyle who finally seems to be laying off on asking Macy out on dates and instead, he helped her with a really big task in this book.
She also met the widow of the woman’s body that Macy’s dog found and boy is he rich! He asked her out, too! Since I’m counting, I guess, he’s the third man who seems to be showing interest in Macy. Geesh! All Macy wants is to live her life on her own terms and prove to herself she can do things on her own without needing a man to help, although she’d love to have her man back - Macy is a young widow. Her husband died in an accident.
So back to the window of the deceased - he donates items to Macy for the dog rescue she volunteers for. After loading her truck with thousands of dollars worth of items, she returns to his house a second day in order to pick up more items he’d like to give her. He even cooks for her! She breaks her diet for a fattening taste of yummy-ness. Then something embarrassing happens and she winds up at the hospital…
Hopefully the formal gala Macy and the crew at the dog rescue host makes enough money in the silent auction for them to save the rescue because as it stands they’ll have to close their doors in a month. No more funds, and all. However, a surprise is in store for them that may just save the dogs, after all. Yay!
Well, that’s enough of that. Next is “Sell, Bark, Repeat (Junkyard Dog Cozy Mysteries Book 5)”.
Bone to Pick is the 4th book in the Junkyard Dog Cozy Mysteries series by Summer Prescott in which Macy is falling in love with a blind hound by the name of Buster. Macy takes the dogs for walks every day and today she finds a body behind the Happy Paws Shelter. The police look at all the volunteers of Happy Paw but they come to find out that Buzz knew the dead woman! Things are getting stranger by the minute. The shelter is need of money and everyone decides to have a big event at the country club for their gala! Lots of laughs, tears, and hugs in this book. Loved it!
When Macy’s husband classic truck breaks down, she begins to wonder how she’ll survive without him. But she’ll have to deal with more than a broken-down truck as a dead body is found near the shelter that she volunteers at.
Finger points at he the maintenance man at the shelter who has ties to the deceased. Macy isn’t sure as she ends up tracking the real killer. Once again Macy will save the day despite everything. An entertaining read.
This book had so many ups and downs, but the best parts were all the positive things that eventually happened for Macy and the shelter itself. Eye leakage is possible when reading about a certain sweet dog getting a forever home, but I was actually sad for Macy! The ending was just so cool and satisfying since they got a killer put away and good things going on for the shelter. Can’t wait for the next book! I just love that crew Macy works with!
Murderous Husband When life goes to the dogs… Macy has a bone to pick. Garage sale reseller and amateur sleuth, Macy Garson, has had a rough patch. When her late husband’s classic truck breaks down, she seriously wonders if she can survive without him. He had her finger fooled. He was a murderer. The culprit was her husband. I borrowed this book from KindleUnlimited. This in no way affects my opinion of this book.
Love this new series by one of my favorite authors! This book is wonderful. The story is well written, of course, and the mystery well plotted. The characters are diverse in personality but also in lifestyle, and mindset. The unifying factor is love of animals and their volunteer work at the animal shelter. There were several moments when I needed a tissue to catch my tears so have some handy!
This was a pretty good book. The fourth book in the Junkyard Dog Cozy Mystery series, this one was also short and sweet, and packed a lot for being as brief as it is. Well written, creative, and interesting. Finished quickly. Now scouting Bone to Pick, if it's available. I will have to see if my library carries any other Summer Prescott publications. Well worth the time to read.
So much happened in this story that just flipped from bad to good to all most dead. And then the murder victim helps save the day in more ways! But not all is smiles, there are tears.
This series improves with each book. This edition brings more danger for Macy, more drama at the dog rescue, and more of the character development that makes for a great series.
