Figgy Pudding Disaster
Take a trip back two hundred years to Firefly Junction 1815, when Edward Beckett was young and alive and desperately in love with Kathy “Kat” Garfield…
It’s mid-December in Firefly Junction, and there’s a lot of buzz around the local figgy pudding contest. When the winner winds up face down in her winning pudding, the local constable arrests her husband. But Kat is convinced he has the wrong person. Edward, looking for any excuse to be with Kat, volunteers his services to help her find the real killer. They soon discover that their quaint little town has numerous secrets, and they all seem to connect to the victim. And while Edward is enjoying his long, investigative days at Kat’s side, he also knows it won’t be long before she leaves him for good, and his heart will be forever broken.

Spending time with Edward is a little bittersweet because you know he ultimately doesn't end up with his lady and his final fate is, well, of the ghostly variety. So, you know, bittersweet.
That said, Edward isn't nearly the entitled and uptight as he sometimes comes across with Sunni when you can see into his head. He's lonely, dealing with his banishment/estrangement by his family, and trying to make the best of the situation he's ended up in. Admittedly, the situation was his own fault, but still. The guy is doing what people of his station where raised to do at the time.
But enough about Edward and his issues. Let's talk about the murder he and Kat are investigating. A pretty awful woman ends up dead in her figgy pudding and Kat isn't convinced the constable has picked up the right guy. Given that these sort of things tend to end in a hanging, its kind of important to get the right guy.
A little baking rivalry, a whole lot of secrets, more than a little pining, a lady of the house who is a little smitten with her houseguest, and a lady who has obligations she can't put aside. Like I said, spending time in Edward's past is a little bittersweet, but he and Kat give good investigation.

So loved hearing the story about Edward and Kat in his words. Him being a ghost and so arragant makes you tend to not really pay attention to his feelings for Sunni, and we really don't get to see the depth of his character. The storyline was awesome, I really enjoyed it. Edward is still arragent and full of himself, but he also has great depth of feelings for Kat that really stand out in this story. I also really enjoyed his great love for horses, being a horse lover myself. He took great care of his prize horse even when he raced him for money. Hope you all who read this enjoy it as much as I did, and hopefully, we'll get some more peeks into Edwards' character and the feelings he has for others.

This one was different than the others in the series as it actually centers around Edward our ghost giving us his origin story. I enjoyed his story overall, it was quite sad and it was nice to see a less pompous Edward. I never really had empathy for Edward before and now I do. A lot of people let him down about was “right”. He does however still make a lot of mistakes including the one that leads to his death. I will say it seemed a little slow in certain ways.

I love the characters, except one. But, this book veered from the usual, so I found it a bit boring. I did not like that there was indiscretion of the world included. Plus I knew it would not end well.
I do look forward to the subsequent books in the series (it appears there is only one, but I hope there will be more in the future.)

Fun new book in The Firefly Junction series. This one is a story told by Edward. It is set in his timeline. So fun to read and has a mystery to solve. It tells his he fell in love with Kat. Kat reminds me of Sunni!!

Edward tells a story
A good enough story, but I think Edward could have told it quicker. . It seemed to drag on too much. It did give the reader the story of Kat’s final leaving.

A little disappointed the usual characters were missing - enjoyed but???
It does bring Edward alive even though he is a ghost - & not as grumpy 😠 as he can be - more caring & a bit devilish - it’s how he was before???

Loved Hearing More About Edward!
After 17 books-all of which I thoroughly enjoyed - it was a nice change of pace to learn more about Edward. And it finally makes sense how he could have been roque enough to have gotten Bonnie pregnant! A ghost Kat in the future?

I love this series. This book is a bit different in that it goes into Edward's background and life prior to being a ghost. I loved seeing things through his eyes and learning more about his life. Definitely an interesting story and such a good addition to this series.

This is another great book in the Firefly Inn series by London Lovett. It is different from all of the other stories as it is from Edward Becketts point of view and his life and how he ended up where he did. It is a very interesting story and of course includes a mystery.
