System: As long as you complete five scum gong elimination missions, you can retire.
The first is a school bully at the Royal Military Academy. To vent the protagonist Shou’s anger, he will disable you
The second one is the “white cut black*” Imperial Academy Taifu. To vent the protagonist Shou’s anger, he will have you drop out of school
The third is a capitalist who is extremely wealthy and holds the lifeline of the global economy. For the protagonist Shou, he will have your family go bankrupt
The fourth is a well-known interstellar medical scientist who saves you from water and fire and cures your disabilities. But in fact he accepted you for the protagonist Shou to use as a human experiment.
The fifth is the emperor of the empire, who has the power to overturn the whole world is interested in you and wants to take advantage of you, but after falling in love with the protagonist Shou, he throws you into the cold palace…
Shan Weiyi: Alright, I see, have them come all at once.
System: ?
Shan Weiyi: I want to eliminate five at a time, understand?
System: You may not quite understand the difficulty of the retirement task. In addition to starting as a cannon fodder to eliminate the scum gongs, you also need to deal with the challenge of “the protagonist shou”. They are played by the quick transmigration commissioners holding the script of the protagonist in hand, entering the small world before you, gaining the favorability of the Scum Gong first, and will try their best to prevent you from completing the task. In other words, you not only have to face five scumbag gongs, but also five Mary Sues…
A really cool story with a very cool Mc, but I find myself wishing it was a harem (which I never, never do). The final ml is so bland and without personality. What is the moral? That in love, you should only accept someone who you've created to your exact specifications, who will blindly obey you and never do anything on their own? How awful. The Mc hates the gongs for being scum and treating the romantic partners they have in the original story like pets/tools, but doesn't he do the same?
Honestly, the origin story is so cool in this novel, but I hated where the author took it. The richly described gongs were so appealing.... I really felt bad for them at the end. And even though the author tries to excuse it by repeatedly saying how they will attack like wild animals the instant they're no longer coerced, that feels like bias from the Mc. They don't seem to in their original story, with the illogical Mc, and they don't even when pushed again and again by the new mc. So how do we know they would turn on the Mc in the end? So they are scummy, but the Mc isn't a pure lotus either. There's nothing to show they aren't reformed scum.
English Title: Five Scum Gongs Get Crazy Jealousy For Me
This was an OK read. My main issue was that reading this felt dry; there's no "emotional" value, so to speak. The MC did the things he did just because, and only once in a while he'd explain "why" to the ML. But most of the time, he just did stuff and everything worked out as if he'd foreseen it all. As a reader it left me with the feeling of "huh? Guess he knew this would happen?". Other characters commented about the MC having outwitted them, and yes, the end result showed that he outsmarted them, but something was missing. The MC went, here's what I did, and here's why the scum gongs would fall into the trap, but there's no explanation on "how" the MC got there. Would had been more helpful if the story showed the MC's thought process.
The so-called ML... can't really be called an ML, be it in role or in romance. He's really just a convenient sidekick and a usable d**do when the story required it. It's really not romance when the other party was devoted to the MC because that's how they're built to be.
The things the MC did might make you uncomfortable. Emotional, psychological and physical manipulation... I was uncomfortable, but the fact that the gongs he was abusing were absolute trash made it somewhat acceptable.
I wish the story had shown more of what happened after the end, especially what happened to the other quick transmigrator, but it just ended. Like, what happened to the captured systems?
I did appreciate the plot twist near the end, which put this story closer to 3.5 for me.
I started reading this novel with 0 intentions, just looking for an agile, entertaining, and original story. And it has been quite better than I expected! There is a real plot, side misteries, funny scenes... I have the feeling that the author wanted revenge for all those stories with obsessive, cruel and manipulative scum gongs who mistreat their romantic interests. It has been very satisfying to read a book where those scums get what they deserve.
My only complaints: the MC is too perfect. Shang Weiyi is never in danger, his plans never fail, he always wins even when others think they have surpassed him. I've missed more tension and danger. Also, many of the scum gongs became stupid after obsessing over Shang Weiyi, especially two of them... And the other quick transmigrators are also very stupid. In the end, even though it was supposed to be a complicated (almost impossible!!!) mission, everything has been too easy for Shang Weiyi.
On the other hand, I wasn't interested in the romantic relationship between him and the ML. Shang Weiyi practically creates his perfect boyfriend. The concept is cute, but the execution has been boring.
I really liked the world building in this book. Most interstellar books gloss over a lot of technological advancements other than weapons and body modification that obviously impact the plot. However, I really liked how the author used big data to highlight parts of the plot.
Also, Shan Weiyi was ruthless, and I was all for it! Especially loved Tongzi's growth as well. What a cutie.
