Spanning the musically innovative years between 1966 and 1991, the Beyond The Bridge series follows the lives of Sixties British Invasion blues rock band Tuppence, a colorful, diverse group of characters who, along with their friends and families, are inextricably linked through music and fame. The leading character is Gordon Hammond, the brilliant band leader and lead guitarist. How he deals with fame and lives with his decisions concerning his personal life and his career sets the tone for the story, which is carefully and faithfully woven into actual music history, clouding the lines between fact and fiction. SK Waller takes the reader on a magic carpet ride through the most creative and revolutionary decades the musical world has ever known. This Special Edition contains Book One, With A Dream, and Book Two, With A Bullet.
SK Waller has always written. Besides books, she has written articles, essays, music, song lyrics, and poetry. She also owns a weblog that she has maintained for 11 years, usually posting daily. Her books are chiefly fiction that include equal doses of humor and drama. She writes about music and musicians probably because she is a professional musician who was raised in a family of professional musicians, from Vaudeville to opera and jazz to rock and roll. In her family's English past the Wallers were court musicians and poets who include Sir Edmund Waller ("Go, Lovely Rose") while the other side of the family was made up of writers who include greats Mark Twain and Alexander Woollcott. Between the paternal musical genes and the maternal literary genes, writing about music was the natural and most obvious path for her to take.
