Wren- Men like them aren't supposed to have gentle touches and soft voices. No, men like them are supposed to be monsters. Then why does my body crave their touch and whispered words. The real question is, can they save me when a true monster shows back up in my life.
Them- She is the broken little bird... The angel with clipped wings… The princess who didn't realize she needed three monsters, not mere men. But we watched her for long enough. She tried to run from us and failed... Now she is ours. They say love is blind... but we saw her clear as day.
Please read possible triggers before continuing! Your mental health is important to me! This is a why choose romance meaning the MFC ends up with more than one guy. Past trauma, Cussing, Mention of domestic violence, Graphic sexual scenes, and Stalking.
The book is in need of some serious editing. First, let's discuss the plot. There's very little introspection, character growth or "growing up" between ANY of the MC's. The characters are pretty much the same from page 1 to the end. Second, the author doesn't know when or how to use proper nouns correctly. As usual, the FMC has nicknames from all of the MMC's and the author doesn't know when to capitalize the nicknames, so we get ALL variations: Little Bird, little bird, Little bird; Angel, angel; Princess, princess. Hell, even the FMC's name gets typed out like wren and not Wren during a majority of the story. It's not difficult to email or consult with someone from a university to help assist with this "unknown." The author also doesn't know when to capitalize words in general. Random words will have an upper case, some words will start in full caps lock (FOR example Like this). The MMC's are generic and nothing really stands out with them. Let's tackle the plot and the pacing. I realize that authors who choose to publish via Amazon need all the pages they can get (pages equal money); however, this author chose to sacrifice advancing the plot for additional pages. Here is the biggest issue with the plot: if a scene from Wren's POV happens from (let's say) noon to 1 pm, the POV will switch to one of the MMC's and we get HIS POV from noon to 1 pm; it's at that point the story will advance. There's probably 20 or more unnecessary pages due to the author not understanding how to advance a plot. I'm sure there could have been a story somewhere in there, but we'll never know since the whole book is a bunch of cliché scenes strung together.
Wren is throwing out garbage, when she hears somebody getting beat up because he gave a girl a black eye. She hides by the dumpster and then she hears a shot and someone says throw him in the dumpster. She starts to crawl away when someone grabs her. The three powerful men realize she’s blind and let her go. Xander, Maverick, and Jax start following Wren to see if she will go to the cops, but they all start to feel an attraction chemistry to her, and keep following her. Wren is running from a horrible past and the guys have their own secrets. One night changes things. Can Wren give them a chance ? Will the past come back to haunt her ? Great characters and storyline Highly recommended Amazing book I love Wren, Xander, Mav, and Jax their character development is awesome. Great supporting characters. This book touches on sensitive issues so check your trigger warnings and ends on s cliffhanger. This is my first book by this author definitely not my last.
DNF 68%. I gave it a good solid try. I promise. But unfortunately, it just wasn't for me. The story had a fantastic premise, and I kept pushing myself to read to find out more. But the product that was released.... poorly edited (grammatical issues abound) and honestly, just poorly written.
The characters were incredibly one dimensional. Wren had so much potential. The guys all kinda blurred together for me.
I love a good insta-lust story, but this... I don't even really think there was actual lust there, just pure possessiveness for possessiveness sake. I do not see how this can turn into love for any of the characters. I love me a good morally grey, bad-boy character, but this... nope.
I love dual/multi POV stories, especially when there are characters who should have a lot of depth to them, but when I'm literally reading the same scene over and over just in multiple POV's, which don't even add anything extra to the narrative? Not a fan. The fact that at 68% and except for the time skip between prologue and actual story, I think maybe 3 days have passed at most.
And by 68%, I would have thought we'd be getting to the turning point of the story, or at least alluding to the big twist that's coming. All stories have that twist that needs to be resolved, and I feel that this just wasn't going to get one. Could I have stopped reading too early? Quite possibly. But I just could not continue reading when nothing except wanting to know what happened to Wren in her past was what kept me going.
This book badly needed editing. Massive amounts of spelling and grammatical errors makes me wonder if this even went through a review before publishing.
I tried to go back to it a few times over the last couple of weeks, but I was just unable to finish. Potentially will try and read again one day.
I absolutely adored this book. We follow a young woman named Wren in navigating a hidden world. Wren is blind, and I thought the presentation of this was done almost perfectly. My own brother is blind, and unfortunately whilst certain disabilities aren’t represented any where near enough in literature - when they are, the authors tend to try and make the audience feel sorry for the character, as if they aren’t capable. Owens certainly did not do this. Even though Wren was not born blind, Owens did a wonderful job of not making Wren out to be ‘pathetic’ and dependent as is usually done.
We also meet three other main characters - Jax, Mav and Xander. I’m not ashamed to admit that I fell in love with them almost immediately. They are the stereotypical ’mafia’ kind of guys, but really are just cuddly teddy bears on the inside.
I thought the story line was absolutely incredible and cannot wait for the next book. The cliffhanger - *chefs kiss*. There are a few NSFW scenes which are written absolutely perfect. Don’t make the same mistake as I did and read this at work, as I have a feeling I was blushing quite a lot.
The first page had me hooked. I love the patience that men like them have for Wren, knowing that she is blind and knowing what they do for a living. They aren’t the most loving and caring men. They kill. I also love the fact that Jax and Wren are different. It made me love Jax so much more especially when it’s said that somebody would take one look at him and run scared because of the scars on his face but not Wren she stood her ground when Jax actually let her feel his face. But miss ma’am you can not end a book like that. Uugghhh!! Such a tease. I need the next one asap. Go read this book please it’s amazing!!

“Well I did fall in love with a beast, but sadly, he wasn’t a prince. Just a monster”
This was such a quick and great read! I loved wrens personality she started growing into, and I’m interested to see her grow more in book two!
Wren- Men like them aren't supposed to have gentle touches or soft voices. No, men like them are supposed to be monsters. Then why does my body crave their touch and sweet whispered words when my mind tells me to run. They say I’m safe with them but, the real question is, can they save me when a true monster shows back up in my life. Them- She is the broken little bird... The angel with clipped wings… The princess who didn't realize she needed three monsters, not mere men. But we watched her for long enough. She tried to run from us and failed... Now she’s ours. They say love is blind... but we saw her clear as day
New author , or at least new to me 🤷🏻♀️ did an amazing job with this story . There were so many emotions going into this , the characters are very distinct , and I really enjoyed the story . The guys were the perfect mix of grey , not good guys by any means , but good to her , if a bit possessive . Let’s be real here , I knew from the beginning that the guys were at minimum going to control her a bit , and they did , but i was enjoying every moment of it . They are obsessed, and over protective in the best way ! Looking forward to the next book , great read !
Loved it! There was a bit of suspense, spice, emtions, and more! I loved Wren. She is not only a survivor, but she is also kind and has the perfect amount of sass. Xander, Jaxon, and Maverick, I loved each of them. The perfect amount of jealous/possessive, with a side of obsession. I loved seeing the relationships slowly build between Wren and the guys. After that ending....I hope we get book 2 as soon as possible!!
I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait for the next one. Loved Mav, Xander and Jax. I can’t wait to see what they do when everything comes out about the past. I am always find it interesting to see characters like Wren where they are living life and overcoming their disabilities by adapting, especially when they lost their sight etc.
Again I am really looking forward to the next book and can’t wait to see what happens next.
After being blinded in a traumatic incident, Wren has been on the run for a couple of years. Until a chance encounter with three men. Wren is not sure to trust these men or to start running again. When the past comes back to haunt her can she push past her trauma and love these men?
WOW, What can I say other than WOW. This book "Blinded by Love" by N. Owens Had me shook at the end. Okay so lets not start there. Lets start from the beginning, When I first looked and saw that this book hard 45 chapters and was sorta uneasy thinking that the book was going to take forever to get through, but nope, I got it done in less than two days with real life happening around me.
This plot/story line is phenomenal. Each character having their own unique personalities, and each coming into play at just the right moments. I fell in love with the MC "Wren" instantly and was rooting for her to get what she wanted by the end of this book.
Now the ending, OMG the ending. HOW can we be left like this? I just cant even be happy with Ms. Owens for this. Its a major cliff hanger and it really was very unfair. I'm so glad to know there is a book 2 because if I was reading this when it came out and didn't know there was a book 2, I would be pissed. I literally at 3am, had to get the second book, think about it for a minute until I realized that it was in fact 3am, and put it down. (but when I wake up) Nothing will keep me from starting it asap when I wake up.
I give this book 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and 3 🌶️🌶️🌶️ for spice, because the story was soooo good that I think the spice was really left until the end of this book. Which I think was amazing, there really wasn't a good place to add spice until closer to the end because this story was so good. Undoubtedly my favorite book of the year so far.
I’m actually a bit sad. This could be really good story. I love the blind character and the 3 big bad mafia’s who are also sweet on her. But I don’t want to read everything that happens from 2 or more persons perspective. TRUST YOUR READER. Really, we get that every character at play has their own feelings and thoughts, and maybe if that was it, it could be interesting, but literally reading more than once what’s happening.. no thank you. That just feels like filling the pages and makes me feel annoyed.
Also, I don’t need to read over and over again who Wren means to them, what the guys’ character traits are and how they look. ‘Xander is the control freak’, yes he is, but wouldn’t it be nicer to make that conclusion as a reader based on the character development and their interactions and not because a sentence in the book says so?
Ah, and not unimportant: SPOILER ALERT HERE! Wren hits her head and has a rapidly bleading head wound. Like, a puddle forming and dripping all over the car and the pavement. It feels a bit strange to me that a guy who’s mafia, doesn’t know at least a little bit of first aid. Always Stop. The. Bleeding. Or at least try by putting something against the wound. It wouldn’t have taken more than a few seconds (they were already in the bedroom, with like, lots op clothing and stuff) to at least get something to hold against the wound. It just felt off, for me.
Blinded by Love is the first book in this series and it is amazing. This book does have some themes that people may not appreciate so mind your peace and check the TW/CW.
I don't believe there are any spoilers.
Wren is not your average FMC and that is what made me love this book even more. This book is currently in my top 5 favorite books I have read this year, I cannot wait for book 2. This book starts off with Wren being in the wrong place at the working time and hearing something she shouldn’t. Once she is caught the men who find her understand that there is really nothing she can do to turn them in. However, after that night the men start obsessively following Wren without her knowledge and start to plan on how to make her theirs all except for one of course who thinks Wren is not made for their world and could not possibly be the woman for them. Wren is unaware of what these men have planned. Another thing about Wren is she is already running from a past that tried to end her. Wren is not interested in whatever games these men want to play, she just wants to live her life and run her bookstore in peace. However, these men make her feel something she never thought she could. This is a whychoose, m*fia, romance with 3 men and 1 leading lady.
This honest review is in exchange for an advanced copy.
I absolutely loved this book. I got this book because I really enjoy hurt/comfort trope and knew this would be up my alley but I didn’t pay attention that the MFC is blind. I really loved this aspect as it’s something I’ve not come across and gives the book a interesting twist.
We begin with Wren who has been through so much but came out of it alive but with the lose of her eyes sight. She stumbles across 3 men and witnesses (hears) them killing a man. The 3 men then let her go but keep a very close eye on her and become obsessed in the mean time. When she finally falls into their clutches they will not be able to let her go and she may not want to be let go in the end.
Jax the rough enforcer who is terrifying to the general public but a hug teddy bear for his princess.
Maverick, the smooth talking a**hole who is very weary to let her in but ultimately can not resist his angel.
And Xander who is the leader and will give up his life for his little bird.
This book does end on a cliffhanger, and then pacing/writing may not be everyone cup of tea as the switch for different POV overlap the events happen. This was my first N. Owens book but it will definitely not be my last!
I don't get the mafia genre. I don't understand wanting a man who kills people and breaks the law for a living. Still, I do like some stories about them getting out of the business. And this book was... fine. I could overlook the stalking. I could overlook the violence and the jealousy when Wren so much as even talked to a man. But, beside every chapter beginning with a retelling of the last chapter from a different MC's point of view (that got old quick)... what finished this for me was the taking away of the h's choices by the "heroes." So, Wren is basically taken captive by our "heroes" (after they caused her to get seriously injured in the first place) and kept in their home for weeks. When the doctor comes by for a final check up and to bring some birth control that the h specifically asked for, one of the a**hole "heroes" tells the doctor to take it away. Because he wants her pregnant. And I was done. WOMEN SHOULD GET A FREAKING CHOICE when it comes to their bodies! I am so tired of this trope. And then it ends on a cliffhanger. So I'm not reading the second book. Because Wren will likely end up pregnant and be happy about it. Ugh.
Wow I literally could not put this book down!! I am jonesing for the next one! This steamy why choose dark romance IS your next read! 🌶 4/5 ⭐️5/5 Cover also gets a 5/5. Our brave heroine Wren (adore this name!) Is a lovely bookstore owner with her bestie Amber. Little did we know that they're dark past keeps haunting them. Well, bestie and her boo thang are moving to start a life together, leaving Wren on her own to run the business. Wren needed an investor for her shop to stay afloat since bookstores are dying. Thats when she meets Xander and Mav. Instantly she recognized their voices from the incident in the ally. Freaking out and trying to run on her own was more difficult than she thought, at least Jax was there to bring her home and fix her broken body. What will little bird do when these burly alpha males can’t get enough of her? Will Wren out run her past? Or will it catch up with her, ruining it all?
This book is everything that I love! It's a they fall for her first, spicy and emotional rollercoaster of a book, and I'm here for it!
Wren is strong, independent and has had a traumatic past that I feel we will learn the extent of in the next book. Unfortunately she is victim to witnessing a crime being committed by the guys and as soon as they see her they know she is theirs.
Her men, Jax, Maverick and Xander are what dreams are made of. Xander is the boss, who knows what he wants and that's his little bird. Jax can't help but watch her every movement and will do anything for his Princess. Maverick at first doesn't want her to get involved with this life they live, he wants to protect her and keep her as his Angel. That is until he sees just how perfect she is for them all.
I can't wait for the next one, I'm going to be eagerly and impatiently waiting!!
Let's first mention that Wren is blind due to an "accident". Why say it that way? Her ex did something, more than just making her fear love and men.
But these three ruthless, monster men show her it's okay to be loved and be wanted. To make her love them. They are gentle giants with her, loving her fiercely if not a little over protectively. Granted, sneaking into her house to watch her because she's blind isn't necessarily a good thing. But it a sick way, it's kind of sweet.
What I loved his how the 3rd brother would be left behind because of how he looks, but Wren wants all three. Of them, she fell for Jax first and it makes my heart swoon. Don't miss this harem piece, it's different and fun!
This is the first book in the Blinded Love Duet and OMG!! I decided to do a blind read…I chose not to read anything about the book so I did not know what to expect. And I sure did not expect what I read! The book was so good that I could not put it down and had to go to work on very little sleep. Besides Wren, my favorite character is the a-hole in the group. Of course, I love him because I love them bad boys! You’ll have to read the story to know who I am talking about, because “I’ll never tell!” Once you read the book, you’ll fall in lust…I mean love with him too! N. Owens has always been a favorite author of mine. I love reading any books (of hers) I can get my hands on! Thank you N. Owens for another great read!
Wren is probably one of the strongest characters that I have seen in a book in a very long time. Before she meets her men we start to get a feel for Wren, and the hardships she had to deal with her abusive, douchey ex. As the book progresses you learn more and more about everything she has gone through with the flashbacks that were triggered by certain instances. Then she meets her men, her monsters as they start to become obsessed with her and realize that they need and want her. To them she is perfect, not broken. That they would do anything for their little bird, goddess, or princess. Each of her three men have a different nickname for her.
This is my first time reading a book from this author and I loved it. Im a quick reader but I read this so fast because I couldn't put it down I was in love with all the characters within 30% of the book. Wren was amazing even being blind she was able to overcome everything that she went through. Xander, Jaxon, and Maverick were so hot and alpha and fell so hard for her from their first meeting.
I love when the male character falls quickly and already claims their women and their women are so freaking hot. I was so excited to read this book because I love a why choose book but this one was a 10/10 and spice 5/5.
This book is cute and is a decent read. But it definitely needs a few more editing hours. There is a lot of words that don’t belong and areas where a name is lower case. Etc. Plot wise the book is cute and I like the characters dynamic. The book moves a little slowly and it really feels like nothing is solved or discovered near the end. I know it is part of a duet and ends with a cliffhanger. But it felt like the book didn’t make and progress. Not too bad, and it is a good story. Just needs a bit more work.
Talk about being at the wrong place at the wrong time actually working out for her. Sometimes things aren’t what they seem. Wren has the most amazing best friend. And these guys are so sweet in their own crazy possessive way. Cant wait to see where the next book takes this story. I got this book as an ARC and I couldn’t put it down because I needed to see where it was going. Can’t wait for the second book to come out. Well done N Owens
I got an ARC copy So I loved the plot. This is an insta-love type of story which I don't mind. Wren is a good FMC. And the guys each have their own characteristics. I'm curious about the second part. It ends in a cliffhanger. I just had one thing that I disliked that we read the pov from Wren's and when it switched we also got the pov from the guys about the same situation sometimes it was good and interesting but others it didn't actually add anything new.
This book was amazing! As a DV surviver this book hit all my walls. Shes found her king and princes! I can’t get over how accurate this book is. Amazing plot perfect spice lovely and sad story line. After DV it’s hard to fine yourself and let people in. It was beautifully written 🤍 FMC is blind and I love the care and love the author has shown her and her own character development!
I loved this book! It's Pt.1 of a duet & is Wren & her guys' story. She has been through some truly horrific things at the hand of her ex & when she first "meets" the guys, she's scared of them. But they all become very much obsessed with her & fall in love with her. They're rough guys, except for her, they are gentle & I loved watching their story unfold. The spice was fantastic & I loved the story line! Highly recommend this duet & author.
Omg what can I say? I love the story. Wren is running away/hiding after a very bad relationship and if finally starting to live her life with her book store, when she o er hears something she wasn't suppose to and thinks she's next, but the guys who run the city have other plans for their little bird. How will the feel once they find out who and why she's running???? I can't wait for book 2!!!
This was a quick read. It was also my first book with 1 FMC and 3 MMCs. Wren catches the eyes of 3 very bad people (Xander, Jax, Mav) and they all become obsessed with her. She ends up in their care and slowly starts to fall for all of them. There are some TWs that should be looked at before reading this. This book ended on a big cliffhanger so I will definitely be checking out the next one!
This poor girl is blind from an accident in her past so when she was taking the trash out while closing her book store she couldn't see what was happening but heard everything. Her night turned for the worst or the best if you love having monsters prove they are your monsters to love and care for you!
OMG I absolutely love this book. I can’t wait for the next book to come out. I’m so happy that she is getting the love that she deserves from her men. I hope they are able to help her out through her past trauma and she gets her revenge on the other’s that hurt her. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.
