About the author

John F. MacArthur, Jr. was a United States Calvinistic evangelical writer and minister, noted for his radio program entitled Grace to You and as the editor of the Gold Medallion Book Award-winning MacArthur Study Bible. MacArthur was a fifth-generation pastor, a popular author and conference speaker, and served as pastor-teacher of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California beginning in 1969, as well as President of The Master’s College (and the related Master’s Seminary) in Santa Clarita, California.

Johnny Mac has sort of garnered for himself a reputation, among some, as the old man on the block: staunch, dug-in, and holding to an outdated reading of the Scriptures. And I would even submit that he has earned this reputation for all the right reasons—because he holds to what is written and stands against new errors. But at the same time, it is my opinion that many of those holding such opinions of the man are woefully unfamiliar with the heart of this pastor and teacher. This work is an example of his heart for the lost, and desire to see them raised up with Christ, in a spirit that is completely consistent with the Scriptures.

A faithful exposition of the Scriptures always points to a gracious God who saves the unable sinner, and MacArthur displays that in depth in his commentary on Galatians. He draws out the recurring comparison of works- and faith-based salvation, highlights parallels, and links the text to other passages.
Highly recommend for personal study. I am sure this is effective in sermon preparation as well, but I cannot attest to that first hand.

Dans cet excellent ouvrage John MacArthur expose d’une excellente manière l’épitre de Paul aux Galates. Il fait ressortir les précieuses vérités du texte. MacArthur is always helpful. He is very insightful when it comes to historical background and pastoral application. I do not agree with every conclusion he comes to, but appreciate his work. Recommended.

Good Work Book on Galatians.

This Bible study explores Galatians in depth. John MacArthur breaks down each chapter, has related Scriptures, and gives a reader response after each chapter. He does an excellent job of explaining the Scriptures.

One of my friends while preaching through Galatians. MacArthur is always helpful, but this is one of his earlier commentaries and it was less helpful. Farewell, but not forever.

As my fist MNTC volume that I have read, I found this as a very helpful pastoral commentary on the book of Galatians. It is easy to read and can be devotional. While this volume is not academic, thorough academic exegesis is visible behind every chapter. The outlines for each chapter are very helpful for preaching through the book.

The content of this commentary leans dispensational while it emphasizes what MacArthur shines at: pin-pointing false religious systems and contrasting them with true authentic Christian faith.

A go-to commentary for devotional use or sermon preparation.

I have always enjoyed reading and listen to Dr. MacArthur. I just finished using this commentary in preparation and study for a recent series I did on Galatians. I always have enjoyed how Dr. MacArthur has deep theological information but is still easy to understand and read. Great source of information.

This is a very good seires of explanation as well as question asking Bible Studies. Very helpful in this study is the glossary beside each passage: each passage is printed in the book and any hard to define words are defined in the margin.

Galatians: The Wonderous Grace of God is very informative and takes you step by step through Paul's letter.
