I'm a tea-guzzling, chocolate-loving, cat enthusiast who hails from the south coast of the UK. Who's lucky enough to have two wonderful but slightly eccentric kids. When I'm not writing, you'll find me reading.

My passion for paranormal and fantasy romance grew until it exploded into my own world, which I turn into books to be enjoyed by all. Otherwise, I'd be a crazy lady talking to people in her head!

I'll be back to tell you more about my books. If you love smoking hot alpha types and sassy, kickass heroines, you'll love them.

Sounded good but I feel like I have come in at book 3. I have no idea what is going on or why. Is this a series set in a universe so I have missed six books or something? I’m at 26% and I am confused and therefore bored. DNF.

Such a fun and quirky story. I loved this new adventure into the EA and essence people. Ginny and the cast on Whispering are phenom. Love at first read!

Good

Ginny’s New Start began the day she discovered her husband had impregnated his intern. She heads off to the island home of her grandmother, not realizing that it's a magical island, filled with supernatural beings.

There she discovers her own magical heritage, and tries to understand the intricacies of her new job at the Emporium - the magical store that has been her family's responsibility for as long as it has been around.

Ginny meets all kinds of people in this book, but apparently has extremely superficial relationships with her entire family- none of which seem to be positive. I felt quite bad for her by the end of it all!

There's a lot going on in this book, and none of the issues are resolved by the end of it. In fact, her new beginning really seems to be a temporary situation for the time being, as she seems to be somewhat shut out of all knowledge about the world she finds herself in.

It's an engrossing read though, drawing the reader in well, and making you concerned for Ginny and her new neighbours. It's definitely one I find myself invested in discovering what happens next.

If you enjoy paranormal women's fiction and midlife heroines, then this book is for you.

Ginny's marriage ended leaving her homeless and in need of a fresh start. She decides to move to her grandmother's so she goes to the magical island where she soon finds herself in charge of a store full of relics that must be protected. She teams up with a dragon shifter along with a seamstress who wields a sword and a vampire. Can Ginny get past her feelings of being a failure and dig deep into her soul to become the woman she's meant to be?

This is the first book in a new series and it was an absolutely magnificent read. This book does mention the EA and Essence people that are in other books, but there's a whole new cast here. I loved Ginny and the way she starts coming into her own. The other characters are also wonderful. The book's well-written and I was drawn into the captivating story from the beginning. It kept me hooked throughout. Sammi Mason is a talented author and storyteller and this book is a prime example of that. I loved this book and am looking forward to more from this series.

So it took me a minute to get into the story, but even then it was a bit confusing. It isn't so much hard to follow - just random information thrown around with lack of context.

There is a difference in knowing (or not knowing) as the character learns, and this wasn't the same thing. Ginny was thrown into the magical world with no warning, but she was okay while also being overwhelmed.

Things didn't always make sense, like it needed more fleshing or information. She randomly knew she was a genie. A lot of things were rushed or brought in with little to no (reasonable) explanation. Things were hard to follow.

It was a good premise, though. As far as all the other reviews - I mean...obviously they didn't have the same 'problems' as I did.

I'm not sure if it was just the file download on my side, but the formatting was not there (nothing to distinguish paragraphs). The grammar was fine, and I don't think there were any typos that stuck out.

🔮✨ A Genie's New Start ✨🔮

I absolutely enjoyed reading this book. Sammi crafted a thrilling adventure story filled with journey of self discovery, action, magic, mystery and unexpected twists that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The characters are lovable and relatable, each with their own unique struggles and motivations. As Ginny embarks on her journey, I found myself rooting for her and being emotionally invested in her quest for redemption.

If you love books with strong, witty MFC, magic, mystery, danger, friendship, and redemption, then I highly recommend reading this book 🌙📚✨

No Shortage of Imagination Here!

This is an amusing tale, with all of my favorite kinds of characters.  The story is quick paced and kept my attention engaged. However, writing the narrative in the present tense made it difficult for me to read. Honestly,  most of the time when I encounter a story written in the present tense I rarely make it past the first few pages. It gives me a headache. Because this was a genuinely good story I persevered.  I won't be reading any other books by this author though if they continue to use present tense.

This story has everything you could expect from this author. This is a slow burn paranormal at it's finest. The chemistry between Ginny and three shifter men (but I could be wrong....lol) is very low key but there's most definitely is something going on . I love the whole concept of a midlife female who has to start all over again. Man does the fates throw her a lot of hops to jump through. I can't wait to see what's in-store for her next.

I thoroughly enjoyed A Genie's New Start! Sammi Mason has done an outstanding job writing this book! Whispering Island is such a magical place to live. There are so many different Essences: Vampires, Genies, Witches, Wizards, Dragons, Shifters and more. This was an awesome journey from a woman who had to leave an unfaithful husband, and had zero self worth, to a strong and determined Merchant. It's incredible!

What I really liked this book is the age of the character, I had never really read a book with a middle age character. Most books I read have younger characters, some even teenagers. It was a refreshing change of pace and the story was wonderful!.

Such a fun story!

Was interesting before I read the first page, but quickly became totally invested. Great characters and a great location combine to create a whole new paranormal world to explore. I love her use if humor and the shock of the main character at finding she is part of this new and exciting world. Can't wait to see where it all leads!

Adorable without being too sweet!

This book made me laugh , made me growl, and made me smile. I adore the main character's desire to help, mixed with some cynical awareness that not everyone can be trusted. Ginny's appreciation for hot men and good chocolate were elements with which I can identify!

A very intriguing start to a midlife change.
I wasn't sure what to expect from this book, but I am drawn in and so interested! The multitude of magic, the hidden island, the secrets, the handsome men, there's so much to dig into! Ginny has a lot to figure out and you get the sense she has a big role to play, but we're only getting started.

Promising premise, but...

I had high hopes with such a promising premise, but then it tanked in character development and enough grammatical errors that I rolled my eyes. So many questions and zero answers! This was too obviously written as one saga, split into multiple books to increase sales. This is too mundane to bother reading more.

Wow what an amazing book. Its keeps you wanting to read one more chapter. Sammi has definitely got the emotions spot on for Ginny all the way through. Her journey is not easy in this book but you are willing her on all they way though.
I woukd definitely recommend this book, it's well worth reading.

a journey

This story should be good in theory, but it has a lot of subplots, and characters that sort of appear, but then their stories are just hanging, and nothing comes together at the end, it’s not even a cliffhanger, the story just stops

What a great start to a new paranormal cozy mystery. I fell in love with this almost from the first chapter. The story and the characters are quirky and Ginnie finds herself in a world she never knew existed, but she survives. Recommend reading.

Midlife isn’t for the weak

Very interesting story with all the ups and downs, magical people and creatures. Danger to get through to try and save the magical place and people. There were some minor errors that needed fixing but all in all enjoyed it.

great start to new series

I am getting addicted to this genre (magical midlife). I’m a big fan of KF Breene and Linzi Day. I’m pleased to say I now have a new favourite in Sammi Mason. I’m now off to devour the rest of this series and her back catalogue…

This one isn't for me. The more I read the less I liked it.
The writing is all over the place.
It needs better editing.
Whoever gave this author the idea to divide sentences/paragraphs up by inserting a extra empty line should be shot.
