Roman meets Lucas for the first time in Vienna, Austria and spends an entire week and one night of passion with him. Emphasis on night--I found the passion and hotness factor sorely lacking and I couldn't feel any chemistry either. A few years later they meet again at Meetings and Events Center, MGM Grand, in Detroit. Shortly afterward a third party, The Pervert (Daniel), enters the f@cked up picture.

Here is the big question. Has Yeah, right, it's no biggie because it's "only" fiction and it spices up a story so nicely. That's me being sarcastic.

I say this is all kinds of wrong.

One could think it doesn't come as a surprise that this happened to Roman. That dude is a total junkie, stoned to the nth every day; a disgusting slut who fucks and sucks anything and everything on two legs because he is so damn horny all the time. He needs the next orgasm more than his dignity and sanity and acts like a pathetic loser. Of course he can't commit himself to a relationship either. He depends on daddy. Hmm…too bad that daddy Tsk tsk…that was so overtly predictable if it hadn't been so tragic I would have laughed. Oh, wait a second. Daddy did Wow. Can you believe it? And then later on, daddy tells Lucas that Clue in, daddy, mostly your son was busy getting fucked by The Pervert, certainly not by Luke.

I'm sorry I had to take a look inside their twisted minds...

Daniel, the pervert fucker, and when they meet again the stupid dude follows the other stupid and perverted dude to the restrooms because he is so damn attracted to the whacko. They have a quick talk and agree to go to Daniel's home where The Pervert spanks and fucks Roman's ass again. The However, what totally pissed me off was Roman's behavior after that shitty act. I mean how can he have sex with The Pervert over and over again? The Pervert spanked him so hard that he couldn't sit for weeks. How can he accept everything so willingly? He gets off on that shit, fine. Well, but that crap doesn't fly with me and don't tell me now it's because he's going Swallowing every crap that you can get your hands on and screwing every stupid (or possibly perverted) dude is not going to improve the situation. Where the f@ck was his self-respect?

I was hoping the three MCs would off each other in order to accomplish a neat solution.

"No, but I know the type," he says. "Predictable. Safe. Boring."
"Right, because nothing like an adventurous that leaves you hurting for days."
"You say that like it's a bad thing." If he didn't look as unbelievably sexy as he did saying this, I would have shot him another comeback.

*Baba hits head on the table. Repeatedly.* Ugh.

"You like strangers fucking you?" Daniel says. "Like being treated like a fucking whore?"
"Yes, sir!"

Daniel The Stupid Pervert is fucking Pathetic Roman with a in the ass in front of a bunch of other idiots in a bar. If you're going to be with some sadist nut-job I suggest you wear your best underwear, and keep your holes clean--at all times. How I ended up with my head on a bar counter, hands tied behind my back with thick rope, and a plug up my ass is a whole other story. (…) harhar...

"Daniel!" I yell, despite my resolve. I want him to stop. But Daniel has no such plans. My ass is nice and lubed from the plug, and the slides in easy but hurts when Daniel starts twisting it around. Blah, blah, blah...But the deeper it goes the more it starts to hurt until I'm asking to use my safeword.

(…)
"You need to trust me," he says. "I'm not going to hurt you. Stop freaking out over it."
/b>
SAYS THE STUPID EVIL FUCKER That psycho must be delusional. And the other dude thinks that complaining is a waste of time anyway. Oh, and of course he neeeeeeeeds the next orgasm.

The halfway in, and I realize this is almost over. It would be a waste of time, if I said no at this point. Also, there's the slight fact that I want to come so badly now--it's not worth fighting over.

Where is your freaking brain, Roman!? In your pants? *makes incoherent noise* *headdesk moment*

I want to beg Daniel to make me come, but I know by now it doesn't work that way with him. So I try to stay still until Daniel is done having his perverted fun with that stupid

When he finally stops a few strangers are starting to fuck him, too ---> with their dicks. Despite them shouting the dirtiest things good ole Roman is getting off again. Hallelujah! *facepalm*

 photo tumblr_migjzefaMt1qj80alo3_500_zpsf0687ea1.gif

I can feel their come-sprays hitting my ass and the back of my thighs in random places, and when the last guy finishes, I can feel the familiar touch of Daniel's hand.

Oh, and then we just needed a little bit more jizz, right?
 photo tumblr_mlfocrplwN1qzqbf4o1_400_zpse55fae47.gif

Pretty much out of the blue we've had a foursome, orchestrated by The Pervert and two of his friends. And of course Roman was happy to oblige. It was a foursome that will go down in my book history as one of the most awkward and most unerotic sex scenes that I've had the displeasure of reading about.

The ending…OMGGGGGG…seriously? Did the author really think it made that super duper douchebag junkie whore more likable in any way, shape or form? That was the explanation and redemption for his despicable behavior? Are you f@cking kidding me? I refuse categorically to be emotionally manipulated. That stilted little drama act doesn't work out for me. NEVER. EVER. Emotionally I felt so completely and utterly removed from the irritating MCs throughout the entire book. They simply didn't "click with me" and I couldn't have cared less. Nope, there are no tears from Baba.

I didn't like the writing since it felt totally detached and clinical. In fact, this story reads like a mechanical sequence of events. Also, I NEVER liked the two perverted main protagonists, Daniel and Roman. The third dude Lucas didn't really do it for me either. Despite him being a hit-man he seemed to be the most normal among that freaking monkey cage, though. Says all. I can deal with an asshole but when I feel the need to shoot at least two out of the three main protagonists then we have a serious problem. So, you see, that was a lost cause. And last but not least the plot features a couple holes the likes a Swiss cheese has yet to discover. I guess the only thing I liked about Heart was the cover. It's just too bad that I couldn't check out one single negative review before I decided to buy the book. Usually they are even more helpful than all the glowing reviews.

I'm aware of the fact that I'm the odd one out there but it's all right. Don't mind my little rant, and I really hope you'll "enjoy" Heart more than I did. Book goes back to Amazon for a refund of my money. I'd rather buy and enjoy Criss Cross insofar as Among the Living ended my book funk.

I don't drink but I guess it's time to buy a good bottle of hard liquor…cheers.

Hmm, where do I start?? OK, with a big to Kol for sending this to me for my birthday...although I was going to buy it anyway. And of course, a big thank you to Dan (The Man) Skinner for the great cover..smooch!! 4.5 stars from me and a huge...

Now as far as the main characters are concerned, let me just say that I wanted to all three of them!! The story is mainly written from Roman's POV, and so we'll start with him. On the surface he's a spoilt little rich boy, full of himself and his obvious good looks, and gets together with Lucas, the second of our main characters in Vienna. Why Vienna...well, you'll have to read the story to find out. Lucas is older than Roman, and it would seem that he's trying to change Roman's somewhat sceptical and pessimistic view of life and love.. Roman "The smartest people in the world are cynics. They don't believe in fairy tales. They spend their time doing something more productive with their lives" and Lucas "Yes, but everyone has their place in the world. I mean you claim to be a cynic, and yet here you are perusing the streets of Vienna with some guy you met on the plane. Most people would consider that romantic". The guys share a hot and heavy night together, Lucas is returning home to the US the following day, but is a little upset to find the following morning that Roman has already left.

We take up the story 3 years later, Roman is working for his father and hates it. He is still as irritating as he was before, but if anything is even more cynical!! He picks guys up and sleeps around, takes drugs, and seems to love the thrill of the danger that all these things bring, but is apathetic about it...he just can't seem to bring himself to care about anything. Our third main character enters the story, Daniel our bad boy!! He picks Roman up after drugging him with a date rape drug and well, you can guess what happens.

People are keeping lots of SECRETS in this tale, and I can't really go too much further into the story without giving everything away...and I never do that!! . There are of course things going on in the background....and there are carefully hidden clues throughout the story which explain why some things have happened as they have, and why Lucas and Daniel appear to have made Roman their 'target', and as I say, some things that remain unanswered...and I'll be asking Kol about those after the story has been published on Wednesday. Many thanks Kol and congrats!!

ARC provided by Author for a fair and honest review! OK This is more my feelings then a review. there is alot to unfold here and didn't want to give anything away. I <3 you Kol! Thank you babe. XO
5 brillant stars!

So hard with who to start with. Roman who's POV was most of this book just made me want to shake the shit out of him all the way to the end. There are so many people involved throughout this amazing book I don't want to give things away. It all comes together and a big ole bright shining light hit me and I was like OH SHIT OK I get it now. There is the bad guy which I admit DAMMIT KOL I liked through almost the entire book even though I was torn as to why. If u read Kol's other books I was that girl that dispised the men most others tended to like < Vincent >. So thats what confused me. More so were there more than 1 of these bad guys? Possibly!

Roman had me confused angry and broken, and even shaking my head through most of this journey. I loved to hate him and be confused by him. Lucas no matter what I adored through the entire damn book. Jeremy good lord what to say he is beautiful. Thats all I can say I don't want to give anything away you just have to read it Wed when it comes out.

4.5 stars Review written for Hearts on Fire Reviews.

Kol Anderson really knows how to spin a tale. Nothing in this one is what it seems, and you're left asking questions and trying to guess at every turn. I wasn’t really sure where this was going when I started and actually had to go back and read the blurb a few times.

When we meet Roman, he is sharing a vacation hookup tryst with Lucas in Vienna. He comes across as the spoiled rich guy who just wants to have a good time. He makes it clear that he isn’t a relationship guy and that he just wants to live in the moment, so to speak. They spend a fabulous week together, right until the end when Roman leaves without a word.

Three years later, they meet up again, and even though Roman’s relationship stance hasn’t changed, Lucas doesn’t give up. In the meantime, Roman seems to be all kinds of screwed up as we learn more about him. He harbors a seeming dislike of his father and career, spends time doing drugs and hooking up with random guys. This is all fine and well until the tables are turned on him and he meets Daniel.

Roman seems to be missing something big in his life. He has feelings for Lucas, but it goes against his rules and doesn’t seem to give him the thrill that he finds with Daniel, even after Daniel did some pretty questionable stuff to him. He just can’t seem to stay away from him, and their “relationship” ventures down a darker path into BDSM.

At this point, I still wasn’t quite sure where this was going and when everyone’s secrets would be revealed, though it didn’t stop me from guessing. Add in the appearance of Jeremy earlier in the story, and I was completely thrown off. Needless to say, all things are revealed in time and everything begins to make sense. A lot happens in the second half of this story. Things seemed a little bit rushed at the end once Roman’s secret is out, and I was still left with a question or two.

If you like a story that makes you think and feel, keeps you guessing and has you running back to see if you can find the clues, I recommend you give this author a try, as I have yet to be disappointed with any of Kol’s books.

I can tell you right now, that my review will not do justice to this story. It is epic, brilliant, and one that tore my heart out, handed it to me, saying "Here what do you think of that?"

The story is about a wealthy playboy, Roman. Roman does too many drugs, fucks too many men. His behavior at times is obnoxious, but at the heart of Roman is his heart. He does not always know what he is doing, but his heart does. It is a heart worthy of the love of many, but he has only a few that can see the treasure that is Roman.

The story opens with a week of heaven spent with Lucas, in Vienna. Neither know each other, that is the way Roman wants it. No commitments, no long term. Surprise surprise, by the end of the week it's a whole new ball game. Lucas and Roman split but that is far from their ending.

Along the way, Roman picks up a rent boy named Jeremy, who he gives a new life. Roman reconnects with his Dad, connects with Lucas's family, and meets Daniel, a bad con man. Sadly, Daniel fills needs that Roman doesn't understand. Perhaps he believes that he deserves to be tortured, beaten, and humiliated. The reader is left to sort that out, since each reader brings a different perspective to the table. I am not going to give out any more of the story, that would do a disservice to those who have not read it.

The ending was a complete surprise, never saw it coming.

Mr. Anderson has proven to me that he is a force to be reckoned with in the writing world, not just the world of m/m.

I give this a California beach full of stars.

Goddamnit. I'm in tears. This is one of Mr. Anderson's greatest accomplishments. I've often wondered what is meant by the exploration of the human condition with regards to fiction, and now I have witnessed it and have been transformed by it thanks to Kol Anderson's honest and insightful writing.

The poetic beauty of Kol's narrative voice pulls you effortlessly through a journey that leaves you exhausted and brokenhearted.

Roman Woodrow is a study in human nature. You want to love him, and you do, but the ending opens you up to the true heart that lies beneath who he really is, giving life to the person you get to know so well. He is everything you want to protect in life, everything you want to keep safe and preserve.

This story is beautifully written, with great skill and an emphasis on deep characterisation that pulls you into the hearts and minds of its characters. I love Kol Anderson's characters, and I know that every one of his works I read will leave me changed for the better. It is art that is so perfect in its impression of life.

Life is harsh and ugly and unfair. It is everyone's responsibility to leave it better off than what we found it. I hope I'm doing it for you Mr. Anderson.

I <3 you, Kol, I do. And thus it pains me to give this book so few stars, but I can't in good conscience give it more. You have a twisted mind, my friend, and I should have known that my not so twisted mind wouldn't work for this book.

There were only two characters in this book I liked - Jeremy and Roman's dad, though I have mixed feelings on the latter due to inexplicable behavior.

The book starts out nicely - two men, one older, one younger, meet in Vienna, hang out for a week, form a connection, and have sex. Then they separate. Lucas, the older guy, is pissed off for being taken for a one-night stand, and Roman has some serious issues with commitment.

What follows is a hodgepodge of themes, stupid actions by Roman, a mysterious assassin plot involving Lucas, and a bad news villain in Daniel Jones, a sadistic rapist, who tries to con Roman into a BDSM relationship to get at his money. There is no coherent string to the plot, and I didn't connect with any of the characters to make rhyme or reason of their actions. They all pissed me off.

I couldn't understand what made Roman tick, and the explanation we're given at the end made no sense at all, and seemed contrived to be pulling on my heartstrings. It didn't work.

The book needs heavy editing, not only from a content perspective, but also as far as punctuation and grammar are concerned.

ARC was provided by the author. Thank You, Kol! <3

4.5 secretive stars!

Ok. So, a day has passed since I finished this story and it is still taking residence in my head. I am still full of the feelings it evoked. But if you are familiar with Kol's writing then that shouldn't come as a surprise.
Let me start off by saying that Heart will be a different experience for you. Not only is it his first length novel but it does not have the dark side we are so use to expecting...well, to an extent ;) Don't get me wrong, it will not be lacking in the angst & steam or the moments when we just want to reach into our reading devices and pull a certain character/s aside & give them a piece of our mind.
Heart is a story that is told in two point of views that will let you into the lives of 4 characters. Characters I automatically fell in love with and others that just angered and confused me. As you probably already know from the book description & book trailer, Heart is a story that deals with a secret. A secret, that just when I thought I had it figured out and know how it will all play out, I find myself been taken a different direction. One I totally did not see coming. And it's not until then that everything starts making sense and the whole of the story comes into perfect clarity.
So, with that being said, I definitely recommend this book. If I wasn't one of the lucky ones who received an ARC, I would of with out a doubt be one-clicking it come Dec. 18

Thank you, Kol! Thank you for the 'feels' and for allowing to be part of this experience <3

It's a very difficult book to rate. Frankly speaking, there were a lot of WTF moments in the book. The MCs were so fucked up. I would give it 1* if I woke up on the wrong side of the bed. LOL
Strangely, I did enjoy reading the book very much. It's weird, dark, kinky, twisted and confusing at times.

So very difficult for me to review.

Well written, mysterious, but so very sad.

I like different and I accept that life is not a fairy tale, but I was hoping for more and better at the end. That's all on me, though.

A worthy read regardless.

Just when I think I know what to expect from this author, he switches up his game.
**NO Spoilers**

I started this book, without having read the blurb as I’m wont to do, yet I still thought I had an idea of what I was about to dig into… turns out I had no clue. And really what a fantastic unexpected surprise this book turned out to be. I will admit that when I got to the second chapter and change of character POV, I was startled by the switch from third person to first person present tense. I hate present tense, so I wavered here. The first chapter had me locked in with Lucas and Roman, I had to know more - so I allowed myself to sink into the story.

This is the longest work I've read from Kol, and I have to say I absolutely loved the feeling that his characters had the room to fully develop and experience growth. Now don’t get me wrong, these aren't magically cured characters by the end of the book. Not even close.

The book begins with Lucas and Roman, two ships passing in the night, who each left a lasting impression on the other. Simple enough premise… right? Ah, but what in life is ever that clean cut? Hop ahead a few years and you find both men in the midst of struggling against their own personal demons. Lucas is fighting against a past refusing to release him. Roman is battling a controlling father and a propensity for indulgence, any means to escape the pain his life has become. Now add to the mix, the sweet, adorable and all around yummy Jeremy, and I was feeling pretty damn good about the story. But wait, a dark twist in the form of Daniel is tossed into the cauldron, and holy smokes the tension skyrockets! I was deep in the story, and I completely lost track of my location in the book—so THE END took me by surprise. Gah, it’s over? Noooo! It can’t be over. I’m not done with them. *stomps foot* Give ‘em back and tell me more.

I’m not going to spoil the story for anyone here. Just isn't my way of doing things. I will tell you that I really enjoyed reading it. These characters are fresh, they aren't recycled from his other works. Each of this author’s characters are unique, flawed and a few degrees off average—nice and tasty to devour. One thing that didn't change, is Kol’s ability to write compelling bad guys… who are hard as hell to hate. The kind you know you shouldn't like, but you just can’t help yourself and are shocked to find yourself rooting for them. Yeah, that right there is a bit of a mind bender, but it certainly makes for an exciting read when you are experiencing an inner angst at your own thoughts. No one does it better than Kol.

I think I sat on this review for a few days after reading Heart, trying to force the book into a category. It obviously does NOT fall within the BDSM/Torture genre where Kol has carved out a well-deserved spot. And while there were BDSM elements, this was certainly not what I'd consider a BDSM book. It also does not fall into the traditional contemporary romance category. Eventually, I decided it didn't matter. This is a great read. Highly recommended. I can’t wait for more. Do you hear me Kol? Don’t keep me waiting for ages, okay?

It's going to be hard to review this without giving anything away. If you know any of Kol Anderson's work, you know going into this that it won't be typical hearts and flowers and happy ever after. What you will get are characters you love, characters you hate and those you feel both for.

Roman is wealthy, working for his father, does too many drugs, is self-loathing and pessimistic. While on a trip to Vienna, he meets Luke and they spend their last night in town together. Luke is older and a bit more optimistic, and enjoys being with Roman. Three years later they meet again and strike up a friendship with benefits(Roman doesn't do relationships) but Luke falls in love with Roman, who seems to be bending his rules and developing feelings for Luke as well.

One night out clubbing Roman meets Daniel Jones. This is the beginning of one twisted relationship. What Roman doesn't know is that Luke and Daniel have past dealings and he is likely just a pawn to at least one of them. Luke sees Roman is on a path of self-destruction but as much as he loves him, seems unable to help him, especially once his past comes back calling.

Roman's character is complex and I had a love-hate relationship with him through a lot of the story. While seemingly hopeless and self-destructive, he still manages to save Jeremy, a young prostitute, from the streets, setting him up in his apartment and providing him with anything he will need to build a future. We get another glimpse of this need to help others again later in the book, but for some reason Roman seems unwilling to treat himself the same way. While there are hints dropped as to why Roman may act as he does, and why his father tries to keep a tight leash on him, it is not until the end that things finally seem to make some sense.

Luke's character baffled me a bit. While he loves Roman and wants to help him, it seemed he could have easily, by the sake of his job description, saved him from Daniel especially once he sees the toll the meetings with Daniel take both physically and mentally. Jeremy is a ray of sunshine, becoming a good friend to Roman and his father.

I'm not even sure this review makes sense since it's hard to say anything plot wise without giving things away, but I'll end it by saying this book had me thinking about it long after I read it. If you like reading something dark, that unfurls slowly, with each character having their own secrets you'll probably enjoy this one.

(Fair warning to those who have concerns, this book contains scenes of rape and dubious consent.)

HEART - KOL ANDERSON - VO

Bravo, Kol !

Can I give this ten stars+....I absolutely loved this book.....I instantly loved Roman and kinda half way through knew something serious was wrong with him....He was lost and didn't really want to be who he was i think....His interest in Lucas was strong but his need for Daniel was worse....I kinda loved Lucas even when he did what he did...I understood him...Jeremy...well Jeremy was just so sweet and cute and i just wanted to pick him up and hug him....Daniel...now i hated Daniel..there was one scene that he redeemed himself for awhile then he hurt Roman an went straight back down in the gutter where he belonged...His made me hate him instantly and i couldn't understand why Roman kept going back to him but i guess he just needed what Daniel gave him but i think he should have confided in Lucas or his father who i thought was lovely..His total acceptance of his son being gay was a nice touch...Too many books have the parents who don't want to know....However...and this is why i had to wait an hour before i did this review....That ending....OMG i needed a stiff drink and a hug with that ending..It's no way a HEA and definitely a HFN..But as much as i loved The Prisoner I think this one as gone to the top of the list of my fav Kol Anderson books...I'm so glad i ordered this in paperback (before i read it)knew i'd called it right..So grab some tissues and have a great read x

A journey of the unexpected. The brilliance of this man to take you on emotional ride is again evident in this book. I fell in love with Roman, his twisted psyche and personal torment. A true reflection of how one can be their own worst enemy at times.
The character depth and growth was superb. A hit man, a prostitute, a con artist.... Not really professions you'd associate hope and goodness with yet this is what I felt for them.
As for the final twist... Tears are easily flowing tonight.
Another winner for me. Thank you Kol!

When I finished Kol Anderson's book, Heart, I knew I have been over rating other books because this book definitely deserves a 5 star rating. I finished it in one sitting and a soft "wow" left my my mouth by the final page. I was quite moved by the story. It is a must read for those in the DMC group and I highly recommend it to others but heed the warnings of the shelves I have labeled the book under.

WARNING: I say "fuck" a lot...

I don't even know. I didn't love it. I didn't hate it either. I guess I'm feeling neutral with a side of WTF. I always know what I'm going to get when I read a Kol Anderson book. Sick, twisted, degrading stuff happens in all his books. Kol writes about dark stuff, people with dark feelings, fucked up emotions. If there is ever a "good guy", he's normally not really that good. When he is, he's a complete victim and is so messed up in the head, either before or after, that he's not really good anymore.

In Heart, the only good guy we have is Jeremy. This isn't a story about him, just a story about the people he's surrounded by. Jeremy's an NPC. He's Roman's friend and Roman is screwed up beyond belief. It becomes more apparent why he's so messed up, but still. WTF? Then there is Lucas. Lucas the hit man. Again, he's not good. Obviously he's not. And Daniel. Sheesh. I'm not even sure he's the worst of them all but he kind of is. Every character in this book is fucked up. They do fucked up things to one another, engage in acts with others that are questionable, and basically, we're supposed to find something in at least one or two of them that is likeable.

Nope. Didn't happen. I didn't like anyone except Jeremy. Jeremy, the poor kid of the street that is given a chance to make himself better. A kid that Roman takes pity on and wants to help out. A kid so sweet and kind, he should get his own damn book.

Why did I like this book? Because I like that Kol writes about this dark stuff. I like reading books that sometimes make me really uncomfortable. I know that there are people out there in the world that are this messed up and enjoy these things that I find very unsavory. I like to have my buttons and boundaries pushed. No, this isn't perfect. The ending pissed me off. The beginning confused me. But the middle? The middle pushed me.

While on the surface Heart seems like a typical love triangle, it is fathoms deeper than it appears to be initially. Each and every character is both more and less than they are at first perceived to be. Kol Anderson is an amazing young talent. To have such insight and depth of understanding of the human psyche at his age is astounding. I felt so many emotions while reading Heart. Jubilant laughter to sobbing, and everything in between. And it was worth it. The ride was an exciting and rewarding one. I am anxiously awaiting more from a writer with a brilliant future ahead of him. I can’t recommend this book strongly enough.

This was a good read. I found myself a little confused during the first half of the Book wondering what the hell sort of person Roman was, did he have no self respect. Lucas and Romans relationship seemed doomed from the beginning and I was wondering why either of them were even bothering. As the story continued I found myself drawn in as I had so many questions...I really wanted to find out who had called the hit on Romans Father.
I certainly was not expecting it to end the way it did although the ending did explain Romans behaviour.
This is a good read with plenty of twists to keep your attention.

I like the book. Honestly it was very good. It was heart breaking. I wish for something better to all of them. The characters are complex and interesting. For me A MUST READ, if you are looking for something different.

REVIEWED FOR PRISM BOOK ALLIANCE

4.5 Stars

My first Kol Anderson book but it will definitely not be my last!
This is the first time in a long time that a book has taken me completely by surprise with its ending. It had my emotions all over the place! With that in mind I will try not to give too much away!!
After meeting and chatting on a plane to Vienna Roman and Lucas hit it off and spend the week sightseeing together. Roman works for his father but Lucas seems not to share information about himself easily. As the week draws to an end the two men end up in bed together. Lucas feels as though they have made a connection and is left sad and angry the following morning when he wakes to find Roman has left to return to the States.
3 years later sees Roman is still shy of being in a relationship and Lucas still holds onto the memory of that one night of passion. When Lucas discovers Roman will be nearby at a conference he tracks the man down to find out why he ran from him and to either get closure or move things forward.
The 2 men stay in touch and work on building their friendship but at about the same time Roman meets Daniel .Daniel is egotistical and only out for himself but seems to offer Roman something he wasn’t even aware he needed. Initially Roman tries to keep both of the men a secret from each other. He doesn’t seem able to let either man go as they each provide him with different things.
Roman has an addictive personality whether it’s drink, drugs or sex and the maintaining of two very different relationships soon takes its toll. As we go through the ups and downs with him he has no idea that each of these two men know about each other.
As Lucas is called back into ‘work’ he doesn’t realise at the time it will have such on impact on those around him. The only way to help Roman understand about Daniel would be to reveal too much about his own life and leave himself at risk of heartache.
As the three mens lives collide each has an impact on the others. When all the secrets are out in the open Roman will need to be stronger than he has ever been in his life and for more reasons than are at first apparent!

This book didn't make an awful lot of sense. We start off with Roman and Lucas in Vienna. Apparently, they met on the plane and spent a whole week together before they end up in bed. We learn that Roman hates his dad and feels trapped in his life. We don't know why.
Fast forward a few years. Roman picks up a hooker on the street and decides to make him his charity case. Then Roman and Lucas meet again. Lots of sex ensues. Then Roman meets this weirdo who basically drugs and rapes him, but he's a dom, so that's okay. Roman falls for that guy too. More sex ensues. Turns out Roman is a junkie, but that's okay. Turns out Lucas is a hit man, which is not okay. We don't know who he's working for or how he got into the business. In fact, we don't know anything about the pasts of either of these characters. It takes a good 70% till we learn what happened to Roman's mum.
So, yeah, this was a confusing mess with pretty lousy spelling and grammar, but the sex was hot. Oh, and the ending was just beyond weird.

Very twisted and dark, with (I must admit) some WTF moments, but a great read.

Not for the faint-hearted b/c there's some rather nasty details thrown about; but very much the type of angsty/graphic story I'm getting used to from Mr Anderson :)

Still thinking of this so good in that it has made me think - frustrated though as too many things were left hanging or not explored as much as I would have liked. Did like the mc's, exp Roman and the ending worked.
