Crimson Twilight by Heather Graham
Krewe of Hunters series #11.5. Romantic suspense novella. Can be read as a stand-alone.
Sloan Trent and Jane Everett are happy to have the wedding event and all their friends at the medieval castle that was transported brick by brick to the New England coast. Just before the nuptials, the priest turns up dead. The FBI agents start the investigation into the history of the house and the ghosts both inside and outside the castle. The Krewe know that ghosts exist but the local police are looking for clues and reason behind the living.

Lots of characters in this wedding event. Suspicious deaths, ghosts, and suspects both living and dead. They will have to figure out who is killing and why.
A good suspense mystery. Not much of a romance mostly since the Krewe members stories were in previous books. It does include a couple of star-crossed ghosts.
Some of the content could be repetitive for readers of the series.

Entertaining mystery listening 🎉🎎✨

This kindle e-book novella is from my Kindle Unlimited account

The 1000 Dark Nights books are very good.

Jane and Sloan are to be married in the New England castle. Then the minister is dead. Accident or murder? Then another body at the bottom of the stairs. Then the truth comes out.

I would recommend this novella and author to readers of romantic relationships mystery novels.

Another great novella of the Krewe team that has a murder mystery, ghosts, suspense, and romance. I love the Krewe series and like these bite size stories.
Great narration!

I've read eleven Krewe books so far. I liked some of them, the others were ok, but my favourite was the one that takes place in Lily, Arizona, The Night Is Watching. The two main characters there are Jane and Sloan.
Crimson Twilight takes place in New England castle where Jane and Sloan are about to get married. Their priest gets killed. They aren't so sure if his fall was an accident. There are four members of the Krewe there (Jane, Sloan, Kelsey and Logan) and it is only natural for them to investigate.
The suspects or possible future victims are the owner, his cousin, a gardener, three cooks and three or four maids.

There is a bit of info dumping in the beginning, so people who haven't read the series can easily get into the story. Each member of the Krewe and what they do is introduced and explained here. It's good for those who want to check the series. Too long for those who already know all about the team and their relationships. There is no need for any relationship development since these not new characters.

Crimson Twilight is not a bad way to be introduced to this series, but it doesn't add anything to it overall.

Meh.

Crimson Twilight was an ehhh kind of book. So far, I'm not really impressed by the first few books from this series. I'm hoping it's because they were just the few ones and it does get better. It also doesn't help that novellas are a hit or miss with me. Maybe today is no novella day or something weird for my brain.

The characters were okay and I'm glad that I got to know so much about them but at the same time - I'm not really diving into the rest of the series right now. It was okay but didn't hold my interest for that long. Overall, these novellas are really easy to dive into but they seem to be more useful as background noise right now.

Having not read any of the Krewe of Hunters books before, I am happy to say I didn't feel like I was missing anything. There is enough of an introduction at the beginning to introduce who the Krewe are. I like the idea of an unit of law enforcement who have "certain" abilities.
Jane and Sloan rented a castle for their wedding. They find their minister dead at the bottom of the stairs. This was a nicely paced who done it. I am curious enough about the series that I might check it out.

The story was ok, but not a typical Krewe story. It was like something was missing, and I'm not just talking about the love scenes.

I bought the bundle on BN/NOOK for the upcoming 0.5 series as well.

In the very beginning, I liked the little except blurb about Adam Harrison - his history, where he appears and how he has had a lasting legacy not just in the Krewe but in other novel series as well

Yet, I only semi-liked Graham’s insight ‘on the Krewe of hunters.’ I expected more about why she developed the characters in such a fashion or continues building different teams. It was more about her own personal experience traveling, though that experience relates to past stories. So I felt I could have skipped it; I didn’t gain much from it.

Now towards the end, I was confused as to why Phoebe was the killer. Even after Jane’s explanation, it doesn’t quite make sense. I understand the affair not working out - a jealous heart, but relive the past as a maid maybe- follow the steps of the previous maids evil history?

At the beginning of this, Graham explained she developed this concept after her son married at a castle in New England. It does not seem there was a reason/lead up to the other stories in this bundle. Slightly disappointed in that...

But overall, short and simple read that kept you guessing. Again, I was slightly confused as to why the murders did what they did, but it made a little bit of sense.

Also, a feel good happily ever after story.

I got to say even though I gave this book the same rating as I normally do, it was a tad better than the others. It was greatly in part but there was no corny "love" hook up. The two main characters are already in love and are about to get married.

It makes me sad how good these books could be if she just would change it up or leave out the same content. Like literally the same thing over and over.

She often uses the line verbatim, "even though she went to the same FBI academy and endured the same training as him" right before the man goes out looking for the "woman" he loves. Making an excuse as to why the man has to go save the woman even when she doesn't need saving. Don't get me wrong I am not a feminist! I'm actually very traditional, but even I find it a little ridiculous that the woman always needs saving.

This one was also a little different because unlike all the other ones, right as the agent is reaching for their gun they always get attacked and hit, for once that did not happen.

I listen to audiobook mainly since I'm a busy mom of 4, this particular narrator was not good. The one who does the rest of the books is good. This one is rather dull.

Heather's Notes
Goodreads said I hadn't read this before, but Goodreads obviously does not know what it is talking about. I had read it before. Still it was not a bad to read it again.

I was a little nervous about reading a book by Heather Graham because I have tried reading books by her in the past, which didn’t draw me in. I’m glad that I gave this a chance, because I enjoyed this better than the other books I have read in the past by Heather.

Sloan and Jane are due to be married, when someone comes up dead. Sloan and Jane are FBI that deal with the mystery of the supernatural. So it’s perfect for them to investigate what happened. I was very interested to see what had really happened to the people.

This book is narrated by Paul Boehmer, he does a good job. He is very good about making his voice match what tone they people would be feeling.

Sloan and Jane have retreated to an ancient castle to get married, with only their closests friends and teammates there. Their romantic wedding weekend is rudely interrupted, however, with the tragic death of the local priest.

With the castle's history come the stories of resident ghosts and a potential curse on anyone getting married there. It is up to this special team of FBI agents to find out if the priest's death was indeed supernatural, or if the killer is human after all.

I enjoyed how the romance and suspense were interwoven with the supernatural. The author did a good job of keeping the identity of the killer a surprise.

Fabulous Krewe of Hunters novella!

I'm absolutely intrigued by any of the Krewe mysteries!
Can't seem to get enough. The story lines are riveting and
page turning to the point I can't put it down. I'm in love
with all the characters and love how each ghostly mystery
is unraveled and the culprit revealed. This is one of my
most favorite series and author!!! Never miss anything to
do with the Krewe of Hunters!

Ghosts and intrigue

Talk about a bad wedding day!!! A fun quick read full of romance, ghosts, unrequited love and foul play. Jane and Sloan are back front and center and they are so good together. The castle sounded beautiful and the emotions of the couples was lovely. Something I find interesting about this series is how each ghost knows or does not know how to do certain things! A fun novella that allowed us to spend more time with two fun Krewe couples.

I love Sloan and Jane but goodness the narrator for this one is not my cup of tea. I really wish I could have gotten into the story, but I couldn’t. The narrator just wasn’t working for me after Luke Danies had done the other books.

I thought the story was interesting, but it was a little too predictable, which I guess it has to be to some extent for a novella. I did like Sloan, Jane, Kelsey and Logan as a team and would like to see more team-ups in the actual novels like this.

Yes, I was right. The book is too short to develop location, characters, the actual mystery, and the overall romantic and somewhat spooky atmosphere that I love Heather Graham novels for. However solution method was definitely there--the Krewe's manner of mystery solving worked as well as it does in the longer format, just very quickly.

Great little story. It's short, but just as intriguing as the full length books. I liked the glimpse into the beginnings of Jane and Sloane. The history of the castle comes back to influence the future, but it's A nice balance. I thinks it's great that the Krewe gets a bit of help from the ghosts, but it's A human that does the crime/crimes.

Sloan Trent and Jane Everett were getting married in a timeless, medieval castle what was taken brick by brick from Wales to the New England coast. The Krewe will be their tho celebrate with them. Until the body of the preacher was found dead at the bottom of the stairs. Now the Krewe have to find out if it's ghost or human that killed the preacher

All Krewe members deserve a break once in a while to remember to cherish life. Finally, Sloan and Jane are getting married. It’s a small wedding that gets interrupted by the sudden death of the Priest. However, something tells this FBI agents that this wasn’t an accident. Supposedly, there are the ghost of two lovers who died days before their wedding still haunting the house and the land, but ghost do not kill (known from experience in this series). Someone living is doing the killing and since the wedding is on hold they might as well investigate.
I was surprised but the killers identity but not by their motive. Jealousy and love are common motives for killing. I was surprised by the killers associate in the crimes. I wasn’t expecting that. Still, a good novella and a good mystery.

Crimson Twilight

I love all these Krewe of Hunters books. This one was about Sloan and Jane who we first met in the book The Night is Watching. I love when an author revisits past book and ties up loose ends with the characters. The suspense, drama, and romance is alive and well in this book too! A definite must read if you love the spooky romance stories like I do!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 is part of the Krewe of Hunters series by Heather Graham, which combines romantic suspense with a murder mystery, some unhappy ghosts, and a wedding. This was my first book by this author, but I really enjoyed the refreshing originality of the story and the paranormal flare. Looks like I need to add some more books to my ever-growing TBR!😅 — ★★★★.5

Great, short novella featuring Jane and Sloan in a haunted American castle brought over from Wales. Really cool, dark castle, murdered lovers haunting the castle they were to have been wed in generations earlier. Lots of cloak and dagger, entertaining but short enough to read in a few hours. ❤️

The ghosts are real

For a novella this story packs a punch. Following The Night is Watching, Jane and Sloan are planning to marry at a cast!e on th easy coast. The wedding never happens, but murder does.
Quite a twisty tale with only a few suspects.
