Newly divorced Dominic Waldorf is the most coveted bachelor in Chicago. At least, that’s what he thinks. I’d describe him as more of a Neanderthal with a really nice backside.
When I accidentally spill champagne on him at a charity event, he accuses me of hitting on him. Then later, I run into him in an empty coat room, and he’s convinced.

This is probably a me problem, and other readers might feel differently about this story.
Dom and Reese met at an event, and it wasn't a nice meeting because she accidentally spilled her drinks on him. He was annoyed by it, thinking she was just accosting him (which happens to him a lot after his divorce is finalized). So he went to a private room to calm down, and after a few minutes, Reese came to that room as well to do the same thing. She didn't know he was there, and he got annoyed even more, thinking she was following him. Reese then became even more enraged, adding her annoyance at her ex's attendance at the function. She continued to mouth off to Dom until she opened up to him about all of her drama. When she was done, they kind of made a truce, understanding that they started on the wrong foot. Then Reese got back to their table, followed by Dom a few minutes later. The ex was already there waiting for Reese, then Dom saw and heard how he harassed her, so he stepped up all of a sudden, claiming he's her date. Hence, the start of their fake dating charade.
For some reason, the story-telling didn't appeal to me. I can't connect with the MCs, and I feel like everything happened so fast. I don't even have time to immerse myself in a scene, and another thing was already happening in the next paragraph. There's also more telling than showing in this book, and honestly, that kind of took away my interest bit by bit. I would rather see and read the actual event than have it described or mentioned in passing. I don't also feel any tension or chemistry between the MCs. I hate to say this, but they were so bland, and I really tried to like them, but it was just not working.
Also, the OM drama dragged on, only for it to be resolved within a few paragraphs. I really thought there would be some sort of twist with him, but I was disappointed. What's the reason behind his far longer than needed annoying existence if it will only be fixed within a few minutes? Then there's a mild OW mention too, which didn't help anything with the plot. I mean, why put it there when it doesn't serve any purpose?
I wouldn't say this is a mess because clearly the plot was easy-flowing, and the drama caused by the OM was the only real thing that makes this a little bit complicated. Aside from that, everything was smooth sailing and happened way too fast for my liking. So fast that I couldn't figure out how they fell in love and still can't buy the romance even after finishing the story.
Sadly to say, this didn't work for me. I'm sure there are readers out there who would find this more up their alley.

I love my visits with the Maxwell family. For me it is like coming home. I feel like I have been waiting for Reese Maxwell’s story forever. I couldn’t wait to dive into Cherish Me Forever and it did not disappoint.
This was a well written story with characters and a story line that held me captive from the first to the last chapter.
We have met Reese, a cousin of the Maxwell brothers in previous books and I knew that the man who captured her heart would be special.
I love stories where the relationship starts out as pretend and quickly morphs into more.
Dominic (Dom) Waldorf is recently divorced and has tickets on himself. From the moment they met the sparks flew, Dom convinced that Reese is hitting on him but that could not be further than the truth. She is trying to avoid her ex fiancé who is a jerk who recently married her ex best friend.
Dom surprised Reese by volunteering g to pretend to date her and this starts a chain of events that quickly snowballs.
Watching these two move from acquaintances to lovers was an entertaining journey that had me smiling and shaking my head; it was fun watching their relationship play out.
Jacob Morgan and Savannah Peachwwood did a wonderful job with the narrating. Not only are their voices easy to listen to but they brought all the passion, love and drama to life for me. They did justice to the story that Ms. Hagen wove

SUCH a fun fake dating romance.
what happens when you spill champagne on a hot stranger? he ends up pretending to be your boyfriend when your ex is being a douche... and then volunteers to continue pretending because he likes you for real.
this was so fun and good. lots of forced proximity, ALL of the little gestures and actions that her ex never did for her and ugh, it was just the perfect quick read for me. dom was down so bad immediately and was like, i will you what a real man is.

Dominic Waldorf has raised my standards to an even higher unattainable level. He had no right stealing my heart so fast! The best part: he is literally the perfect addition to the Maxwell family! I adore this family so much, and I am THRILLED to finally have Reese’s book! I connect to Reese the most, always have. Plus, we have almost the same guilty pleasure Taco Bell order and we both consider Dom an alien. If you’ve read the other books in the series, you know how awful her ex is. But just like her cousins, Dom swoops in and stops at nothing to protect her and treat her like a queen. Having exes putting their noses where they don’t belong is sometimes annoying, but I ate this UP! And that’s all thanks to Dom. There’s no hesitation to not just take care of her, but to stand beside her while she takes care of herself. Neither are sure if they’re ready to take the leap after bad relationships have left them both bruised, but that magnetic pull between them doesn’t leave them much choice! They’re vulnerable, there’s a beautiful raw trust. They share their hearts in such a beautiful way. I’m pretty sure Dom and Reese are my favorite of the series! This was the perfect way to go out.

Layla Hagen has done it again! I absolutely LOVED Cherish Me Forever, the eighth and final book in her The Maxwell Brothers series! I loved every moment on every page of Cherish Me Forever and it was impossible to put it down. Cherish Me Forever was a bittersweet book for me because it is the final book in The Maxwell Brothers series and saying goodbye to the Maxwells. Layla Hagen definitely does not disappoint her readers with Cherish Me Forever and has once again delivered an incredible love story filled with everything that I love in sizzling romance stories. I love that Layla Hagen continues to write the stories that I love to read and continues to be one of my favorite authors to read. Who does not love hot sexy men, who make you swoon, strong females, loving families, and friends, who always support one another, and wonderful characters? I love the Maxwells brothers and the Maxwell cousins. I love how Layla Hagen always manages to create the "perfect" heroine, who is a strong, sassy woman on her own, to balance out the sexy, swoon worthy man. One of my favorite parts of her books is how she incorporates the picture on the cover of the book into the love story. I am not sure how she does it, but Layla Hagen has once again given her readers another incredible book with incredible characters. She has once again proven that she is an amazing storyteller. I really enjoy how she writes her stories in the first person from the perspective of the main characters. I love knowing what the main characters are thinking and feeling. Cherish Me Forever is filled with all those things that I have come to love and expect in a Layla Hagen love story, especially the poignant and bittersweet moments that filled this page turner. Cherish Me Forever is a fake dating love story between recently divorced, Dominic “Dom” Waldorf, owner of Waldorf Fashions and Reese Maxwell is the CFO of The Maxwell Hotels. Reese and Dom separately attend a charity event, and Reese accidentally spills her champagne on Dom. He is irate, because he thinks that Reese is interested in him, since he is considered one of Chicago’s most eligible bachelors. Later that evening Dom finds Reese hiding in the coat room, Reese is trying to avoid her former fiancé, Malcolm Delaware. Reese and Dom decide to fake date so that it appears to Malcolm that Reese has moved on and that Dom is off the market. The next charity event is out of a weekend getaway, and Reese and Dom decide to attend the event together. Things change between Dom and Reese as they spend time together fake dating. Things quickly heat up between them after they spend time at Dom’s lake house. I love that they were both willing to admit their feelings for one another. I love the chemistry between Reese and Dom and their love story. I love the secrets that each one shares with one another, especially how Reese’s family dynamic changed with the death of her mother and what happened between her and Malcolm and how Dom reveals what happened with his ex-wife and his relationship with his father. I love how Reese loves all the Maxwell babies and her relationship with Dom’s father. A heart-breaking plot twist makes Reese uncertain about their future together, and I love everything that Dom does to get it resolved but learns that Reese finally stood up for herself. Layla Hagen creates such wonderful and memorable characters and has once again done this in Cherish Me Forever. I love Reese and Dom’s story and the descriptions of the Chicago settings. I love the characters and the family dynamic in Cherish Me Forever, the characters feel like family and friends. I enjoyed catching up with the other characters in the series, especially all the babies. It felt like a family reunion. I enjoy all the interactions among the Maxwell brothers and cousins, it feels like real family love and makes me laugh at their teasing. Cherish Me Forever was a wonderful love story. One of my favorite parts is how Dom recreates the fake first meeting between him and Reese. My favorite part is the ending of their love story and how Dom proposes to Reese, the location of the proposal and what he did to make it memorable for Reese. I love the epilogue and Reese and Dom’s wedding; but my favorite part of the story is the second epilogue that takes place six years later and details all the children that have been born over the prior six years. My favorite line in the story happens as Reese walks down the aisle: “Fate found me a man who would love me forever.” I highly recommend this sizzling romance. So sad to say goodbye to the Maxwells. Cherish Me Forever by Layla Hagen is book 8 in The Maxwell Brothers Series. This is the story of Reese Maxwell and Dominic Waldorf. Dominic steps forward to help Reese when someone from her past comes back in a chance meeting. This book was such a please to have. I hope to read more book from Ms. Hagen soon.

They decide to fake date to support each other, and so it begins.
Dominic is everything Malcolm wasn’t and Reece realises she’s never been treated well. Spending time together they get to know the best of each other and what really makes them happy.
It’s a good story, Reece and Dom are well written and really likeable. The drama in the story is all brought by Malcolm, he gets his comeuppance and there’s a nice HEA.

With Reese Maxwell finding Dominick Waldorf the man of her dreams, Hagen’s eight book Maxwell Brothers Series comes to a close. Reese has been a secondary character as the eldest of the six Maxwell brother’s cousins since the first book. When she joined with her cousin Travis and her younger sister Kimberly in opening the first Maxwell boutique hotel as the company’s C.F.O. her presence became more pronounced. The first time we were introduced to Reese we learned that her ex-fiancée Malcom had cheated on her with her then best friend and then attempted to sue the family and generally harass and publicly embarrass Reese after she cancelled the plans they had made to open up a spa in the building where her grandmother’s book store was located on the first floor. Rarely was Reese mentioned without Malcom and his duplicity coming up in the same paragraph. It is thanks to Malcom’s return to Chicago that ironically Reese and Dominc meet and fall in love.
Dominic Waldorf founded and manages a chain of high end dress shops. We quickly learn that he has recently gone through a bitter divorce. I admit to being a bit confused here because when Reese asks him about his marriage and divorce he said he was married about a year ago and his divorce which seemed to take forever was just recently finished. If he was married less than a year before filing for divorce how much could his ex-wife expect to get in the divorce? And if his divorce was final within the same 12 months in which he was married, in my experience it was a pretty quick process. Anyway Dominic or Dom is a good guy. He’s a Harvard educated, self-made millionaire who is a great son to his widowed invalid father and treats his employees well. After his divorce the Chicago media crowned him Chicago’s Most Eligible Bachelor, and he hates it. He hates all the publicity that followed his divorce and he hates all the women throwing themselves at him hoping to be the next Mrs. Waldorf. When Reese accidentally spills a flute of champaign on him at a charity function he thinks she’s just trying to use it to hit on him. When she walks into the same isolated coat room where he had gone to get away from everyone he’s certain she’s following him to hit on him. But then Reese who is so undone by the presence of Malcom and his now wife at the same charity event that she just babbles out the story of how her cheating ex is there and harassing her and she’s just trying to get away from him and pull herself together. Dom believes her story and apologizes to her for his previously rude behavior. Later when he comes upon Malcom harassing Reese at the dinner table he and Reese have been assigned to sit at his protective instincts kick in. He pretends to be Reese’s boyfriend and tells Malcom to take a hike. In his mind this works to both help Reese out and himself because if everyone thinks he and Reese are a couple the women will stop hitting on him. And so begins the fake relationship that quickly becomes very real.
As a man I normally have a soft spot for the female protagonists in contemporary romance. Reese was no different. She’s kind, caring, smart and funny. And despite her rather demure, public demeanor when she decides she wants Dom there’s nothing shy or inhibited about her. But for much of this story she also annoyed me. She annoyed me because despite what happened between herself and Malcom is now several years in the past and despite her still seeing a therapist to get over the betrayal of both her fiancée and her BFF, instead of expressing righteous anger towards Malcom she cowers anytime he is around her. When she first meets Dom and he indicates he’d like to get to know her she tells him that she isn’t sure she’s ready even though she’s highly attracted to him. So much for therapy helping her get over Malcom's betrayal. It’s no wonder Dom wonders for awhile if she still has feelings for Malcom the way she acts around him. Reese also senses Dom still has issues from his failed marriage and really isn’t in a place either to get into a new relationship. And under normal circumstances she wouldn’t be wrong. But these aren’t normal circumstances. This is a contemporary romance.
Overall I thought this was a very good story to end the series. Reese and Dom are great people and their sexual chemistry really heats up the pages. As with all the books in this series the rest of the Maxwells make frequent appearances to give it that big warm family feels. The author even throws in a second epilogue to show us all the Maxwells together six years down the road.

When Reese accidentally spills a flute of champaign on him at a charity function he thinks she’s just trying to use it to hit on him. When she walks into the same isolated coat room where he had gone to get away from everyone he’s certain she’s following him to hit on him. But then Reese who is so undone by the presence of Malcom and his now wife at the same charity event that she just babbles out the story of how her cheating ex is there and harassing her and she’s just trying to get away from him and pull herself together. Dom believes her story and apologizes to her for his previously rude behavior. Later when he comes upon Malcom harassing Reese at the dinner table he and Reese have been assigned to sit at his protective instincts kick in. He pretends to be Reese’s boyfriend and tells Malcom to take a hike. In his mind this works to both help Reese out and himself because if everyone thinks he and Reese are a couple the women will stop hitting on him. And so begins the fake relationship that quickly becomes very real.
As a man I normally have a soft spot for the female protagonists in contemporary romance. Reese was no different. She’s kind, caring, smart and funny. And despite her rather demure, public demeanor when she decides she wants Dom there’s nothing shy or inhibited about her. But for much of this story she also annoyed me. She annoyed me because despite what happened between herself and Malcom is now several years in the past and despite her still seeing a therapist to get over the betrayal of both her fiancée and her BFF, instead of expressing righteous anger towards Malcom she cowers anytime he is around her. When she first meets Dom and he indicates he’d like to get to know her she tells him that she isn’t sure she’s ready even though she’s highly attracted to him. So much for therapy helping her get over Malcom's betrayal. It’s no wonder Dom wonders for awhile if she still has feelings for Malcom the way she acts around him. Reese also senses Dom still has issues from his failed marriage and really isn’t in a place either to get into a new relationship. And under normal circumstances she wouldn’t be wrong. But these aren’t normal circumstances. This is a contemporary romance.
Overall I thought this was a very good story to end the series. Reese and Dom are great people and their sexual chemistry really heats up the pages. As with all the books in this series the rest of the Maxwells make frequent appearances to give it that big warm family feels. The author even throws in a second epilogue to show us all the Maxwells together six years down the road.

As one of the “most coveted” bachelors in Chicago he’s used to women trying anything to catch his attention but after his recent divorce the last thing he wants is to go into a relationship.
Yet when Dominic realizes what Reese is facing he steps in to help her through a bad situation and in talking with her more he realizes he wants to help her for as long as she needs him around.
Will Dominic and Reese realize that the both could have found what they have been missing or are their respective last relationships too much heartbreak to risk anything again?
This was a good book and that had a lot of feels. There was so much family and closeness and I loved that Reese’s grandma had a bookstore!
Reese was a great character that moved on from a bad situation but had an ex who was hell bent on getting her money after she discovered his cheating and no longer wanted to go through with the plans they had to go into business together. She moved on but also didn’t want her family forced into drama that she thought was over.
Dominic also just got out of a bad relationship where he went in with his whole heart but wasn’t treated the same. From that he was very apprehensive about trusting people and their intentions yet when he heard what was happening to Reese he stepped up and had her back.
There was so much chemistry between Reese and Dominic and they really did start out as friends and got to one another before things progressed. I liked seeing how they genuinely made each other happy even though at the time neither was looking for more. Things just slowly happened and it was nice to read.
I thought Reese’s family was great and I liked how much they all supported her. Then I was impressed with Reese for stepping up for what she believed in and put her foot down which had some funny results.

This is a slow burn that turned into an inferno. Dom is protective but his walls are up because he has been hurt before. Reese is a sweetheart but has been through it with a terrible ex. When Dom realizes that Reese needs his help he steps up to pretend to be her boyfriend so she doesn't have to face her ex alone. Things get complicated when they need to keep up the ruse and go away for another event. Of course when real feelings start to form the story really takes off. Another hit by Layla Hagen! Reese has had her fair share of problems and heart ache. Malcolm (her ex fiancé) has been harassing's her and the Maxwell family ever since Reese caught him having sex with her best friend. Reese is guarded and withdrawn with most people. She stays out of the spotlight but still manages to help with her charities. Reese is supposed to go to a charity event, but when she sees the guest list and a certain name, she wishes she didn't have to go. Instead of enlisting one of her family members to go with her, she decides to go it alone. Once she's there, she grabs a glass of champagne and makes her way to her assigned table. Right before she gets there she spots Malcolm and Francesca and trips and spills champagne all over a man that sitting at her table. She apologizes, but the man is furious. He accuses her of trying to hit on him. He get up and goes to try and clean up. Malcolm & Francesca approach her and are very mean. She excuses herself to find a quiet place where she can compose herself. When she enters the room, she comes face to face with her tablemate. He accuses her of following him, until he sees her face. They start talking and Reese tells him she was very sorry for spilling champagne on him, but she was trying to avoid an ex who she caught right before they were to be married sleeping with her best friend. He takes pity on her and lets her have the room. Dominic heads back to the ball room, but before he gets to his table someone tries to talk to him about business, but Dom is not having it. Dom heads to the bar to grab a glass of whiskey. As he's heading to the table and was only a few steps away when he hears the conversation with Reese and Malcolm. Dom interrupts and ask if there's a problem. He slips his arm around Reese and tells them to get the hell back to their table and leave his woman alone. Talk about a strange beginning, that it was. This book holds so many adventures . If you're looking for your new book boyfriend, Dominic Waldorf is your man. I promise you will fall in love with him and Reese and the entire supporting characters! This book is a must read and you won't be disappointed. Layla Hagen truly is an inspirational writer! Great job lady! I am truly a fan!

This is a 4.5 for me.
This is the final story in The Maxwell Brothers series and is the story of Reese and Dominic. This is a fake relationship and slow burn trope that truly works. Reese is a Maxwell brothers cousin but has been raised as their sister so she is close to all the guys. We’ve seen a lot of her over the entire series and know much of her story so it was so nice to see her find her HEA.
Reese is a great character who has overcome much to find a level of peace and she’s not really considering finding someone to add to her life. Dominic is recently divorced. His wasn’t a good situation either because he was used for his money and status while he loved his ex; so he isn’t looking for anyone either. I love how they met – hiding out from others in a coat closet of a charity affair! Reese is hiding from her horrible ex and his new wife (her BFF) and Dom is hiding from all the single women who won’t leave him alone. They decide to fake a romance to back both the women and her horrible ex away from them.
Their relationship is just so easy. Once they give in and become friends and get to know each other better, things seem to flow so easily between them. They behave like adults – they admit their feelings for each other, communicate well, share secrets and truly want to see the other happy which just intensifies their chemistry for each other.
This was a well written story with characters and a story line that held me captive. I love how Layla Hagen always manages to create the "perfect" heroine. Reese is a strong, sassy woman who has been through some terrible things and she has come out stronger. Dom is a strong and sexy man who only complements Reese and encourages her to continue to be her best. While he is alpha to the hilt, he never clips her wings and only helps to support her. I loved catching up with the other Maxwell couples and feeling like a part of the family. This was a sweet and sexy ready that truly made my heart happy. The ending and second epilogue was fantastic! What a great wrap for the series!

Reese Maxwell has been through it! She was all set to marry when she found her fiancé in bed with her best friend. She called off the wedding but he just won’t go away. She has scars on her heart from the betrayal. She has her family that has her back. She has been dating but she is nervous and I can’t blame her. She has watched her cousins, and grandmother get married. She goes to a charity event. She already saw both Malcolm and her ex best friend with be there. She doesn’t tell her family. She attends the event. She stumbles and spills champagne on this man. She apologizes but he thinks she is hitting on him. Dominic Waldorf is the most eligible bachelor. He is recently divorced. He has women hitting on him all the time. He gets up from the table. Malcolm will not leave Reese alone. He has tried to sue her family, he harassed her. Her family has her back. She walks away and hides in an empty coat closet. She runs into Dom again. He needs a break from it and Reese starts telling him about Malcolm. She leaves and heads back to the table. Dominic feels bad she couldn’t be making this up. When he goes back to the table Malcolm is at it again. Dom saves her and pretends to be her her boyfriend. Malcolm and her ex best friend is shocked. He leaves her alone. Reese can’t believe it. After that kiss Dom laid on Reese he can’t stop thinking about her. She is different from any woman he has ever met. I’m so glad Reese has a man who knows how to treat her. They are explosive together. She is not use to a man taken care of her needs emotionally. He can handle how her family questions him. She thankful for her cousins but she doesn’t want them to scare him off. He understands and handles them well. The more time they spend together the hotter it is. Dom can’t believe it. His father likes her and his doesn’t like many people. They are good for each other. She tries to hide but Dom is right there having her back. I love their story. I’m glad she got her man after that arrogant idiot Malcolm. I’m glad you saved her for last!!

An Emotional Squish Heart Read
Reese Maxwell had her share of heart break when she cancelled her wedding to the douche Malcolm who basically was just after her money and what she could do for him. You find out later in the read he was having an affair the entire time with her college best friend.
Dominic Waldorf had a similar heartbreak when he found out his wife only married him for what he could do for her career.
As fate would have it Reese was obliged to attend a charity event where her ex and her ex best friend would be attending. She pulled up her big girl panties and went to the event knowing she would run into them. Talk about high stress level.
This is where it gets fun. Dom didn't want to attend but he too felt obligated. Mr. Grumpy LOL. Turns out Dom and Reese were assigned to the same table so as she was approaching after getting a drink from the bar she tripped and her drink went flying all over Grumpy Dom. He was super gun shy around women because of his ex wife and thought all the women were out to get him. So needless to say he was a bit rude/grumpy with Reese until her sass kicked in. When he left to clean up Malcolm and Francesca approached poor Reese. She managed to get rid of them and ran to hide in a coat closet only to find Dom in the same closet LOL. So cute. When they went back to the table and were approached again by Reese's ex Dom stepped up to the plate and blurted he was her boyfriend. So they had to fake it the entire charity event. The chemistry was spot on but they both were fighting it. Then there was the kiss can we say swoon. This entire read was fabulous. I loved every single thing about it. How Reese was always so positive and bubbly and could bring anyone around. I think the most heart felt scene was Reese with Dom's dad. I almost cried. Definitely had tears in my eyes. So good Dom was emotional you could tell. His Dad hadn't laughed since his mom died and his Dad didn't like anyone. But Reese broke through his shell.
Do yourself a favor and read this book.

Reese Maxwell is the loveliest and kindest person; always thinking of others. When she attends a charity function, she finds herself face to face with her ex-fiancé and his wife; her former best friend who also happens to be the woman he cheated with. Meeting recently divorced, gorgeous but grumpy Dominic Waldorf was definitely not a “meet cute” when Reese accidently spills her drink on him. From the moment they met the sparks flew, Dom convinced that Reese is hitting on him soon learns that it’s anything but, as she is trying to avoid her ex. When Dominic realizes what Reese is facing he steps in to help her through a bad situation and in talking with her more he realizes he wants to help her for as long as she needs him around. What starts as pretend soon develops into so much more; something special. With Dom at her side and the entire Maxwell clan behind her Reese has nothing to fear from her ex and hopefully he would finally get the message to leave her alone and go away.
Ms. Hagen wrote a wonderful, emotional, and heartwarming story that should not be missed. When Dominic realizes what Reese is facing he steps in to help her through a bad situation and in talking with her more he realizes he wants to help her for as long as she needs him around. What starts as pretend soon develops into so much more; something special. With Dom at her side and the entire Maxwell clan behind her Reese has nothing to fear from her ex and hopefully he would finally get the message to leave her alone and go away.
Ms. Hagen wrote a wonderful, emotional, and heartwarming story that should not be missed. She provided a tale rich with sizzling chemistry, strong magnetism, amazing family dynamics, clever banter, the magic of love, and endearing characters giving Reese and Dom a chance at love, happiness, and a future together neither expected, nor was looking for. I highly recommend Cherish Me Forever to other readers.

The last of the Maxwell clan’s book
I have absolutely loved reading the Maxwell books this is a great family and although the books can be standalone books you should read in order as each relationship develops after book one.
I couldn’t understand how Reece still thought she had feelings for Malcom after everything he did to her, it’s like she wanted to be a weak doormat wherever he was concerned.
The man cheated on you with your best friend, got her pregnant and married her then tried to blackmail and manipulate her for money and also tried to sue Declan for his part in losing his job.
How she still felt something is beyond me and the revenge dress would have been something good in the weeks and months after he cheated not years later that made he seem a little pathetic.
Luckily she got better as her relationship with Dominic developed and she got back to being the Reece I loved in the other books.
Dom was a great character and due to him being hurt by his ex wife he had his guard up so the beginning of their relationship was supposed to be fake as she wanted Malcolm off her back and he had been voted most eligible bachelor and women kept pestering him, which he thought she had tried to do when she spilt a drink on him.
Together they were a lovely couple and I loved seeing their relationship grow since they had both been hurt by their ex’s.
I also loved seeing all the other Maxwells and we have them throughout each book and they are a great family.
It was lovely seeing a second epilogue 6 years after Reece & Dom’s relationship to see all the children in the family and how they had grown together.
Great series with great characters and a good strong family bond throughout this series.

Cherish Me Forever is a slow burn romance full of heart and I was hooked from the very first page.
As Reese, the loveliest and kindest person, you could ever wish to meet, finds herself face to face with her ex-fiancee and his wife. Her former best friend who also happens to be the woman he cheated with. When she attends a charity function.
But it's not all bad news as she also meets recently divorced gorgeous but grumpy Dominic Waldorf. Whose first impression of Reese isn't the best one.
Yet, after just a couple of minutes in her company and an encounter with her ex. He soon changes his mind, and the pair after a frank conversation in the cloak room agree to pretend to be dating.
However, the pretence doesn't end there. As the charity is holding a weekend event and both are expected to attend. Especially now they've made it clear they're a couple.
And what starts as a pretence soon develops into more. But Dom has just come out of a marriage and Reese although over her ex isn't over the hurt and pain he's caused.
But they can't deny they have something special and are willing to fight for it.
If only Reese's ex would get the message and go away. But with Dom at her side and the entire Maxwell clan behind her Reese has nothing to fear.
And with plenty of beautiful moments and the perfect amount of spice. This was a fantastic story. That was effortless to read, and I'd happily recommend it to all and I really need to read the stories I've missed out on. Although I fear none can compare to the delight Reese and Dom offered.

This is the eighth book in the series. They can be read as standalone books. haven’t read any of the other book in the series and wasn’t lost. It did make me want to read the other books though. Reese and Dom meet at a charity event. Dom is recently divorced and Reese’s ex who cheated with her best friend is at this event. Both are edge for this reason. After awkward meeting or two Reese runs into her ex. Dom doesn’t completely understand why but he can’t stand the way her ex is treating her and comes to the rescue. He tells her ex that he is her new boyfriend. What he didn’t think about it that there are more events scheduled for the charity. The two find that they can’t stop thinking about each other. Dom decides he isn’t going to someone in his stead. He is going to go the other events himself. It is an excuse to spend more time with Reese. They drive together and come up with a story about how they meet and how long they have been dating. They both still have issues because of past relationships but they are helping each other move past them. Reese’s ex is back again to try and get something from her. He wants money he feels he is entitled to because of a deal that went south when they broke up. He has tried several times over years. How does he plan to try this time? Dom and Reese bond quickly and find that they can see a future together. This book was a wonderful read. While there is heat there is a ton of angst like there are sometimes in the fake relationship books. I really enjoyed it and look forward to reading the other books in this series. Fantastic job Layle. I love the characters and how close Reese’s family is even her extended family. Dom shares a close relationship with his father as well.

Reese Maxwell is the CFO of Maxwell Hotel. and comes from a big family. An invitation for a charity event came and Reese was the one that was going to represent the hotel. With the invite was a list of attendees, two being Malcolm Delaware and Francisca Delaware. Her ex-fiance and her former best friend. Her ex has been harassing her and she didn't want to see either of them.
Dominic "Dom" Waldorf is the owner of Waldorf Fashion. He's newly divorced and a very private person, not happy that the press did an article on him "Chicago's Most Eligible Bachelor is Single Again."
He's attending the charity event and when Reese accidentally spills champagne on him, he thinks she is hitting on him. When she goes to hide out in an empty coat room that he's in he's totally convinced she is. Instead she's hiding from her ex after he confronted her. She thinks he's a jerk. But ends up explaining about her ex and his wife.
When Reese is approached at the table by her ex and his wife Dom jumps in and says that's his woman and to leave her alone. Dom comes up with the idea that they fake date to help each other out.
What starts off as fake slowly changes and they enjoy being with each other. Dom is very protective of Reese and the more time they are together maybe it's not so fake anymore.
Can they learn to trust each other and let it become real?

I liked Dom and how he was so sweet and caring once he got past the idea she was hitting on him. He was the ideal boyfriend.

J’adore cette série et j’avais très hâte de lire ce dernier tome tout en regrettant un peu qu’après cela la série serait terminée… Pour ce huitième et dernier tome on retrouve Reese, la cousine des frères Maxwell et personnage récurent depuis le premier tome qui est lié à une intrigue depuis sa première apparition. Reese est la dernière célibataire du clan Maxwell et elle ne le vit pas très bien. Cependant, elle refuse de s’engager à nouveau dans une relation amoureuse car elle ne se fait pas confiance au vu de ce qui s’est passé avec son ex. Elle pense ne pas être capable de discerner les gens. Mais quand elle va faire la rencontre de Dominic lors d’un gala elle va regretter ce choix. Dominic est un peu grincheux mais il y a quelque chose d’attirant chez lui. Et lorsque l’ex de Reese fait irruption au gala et que Reese avoue tout à Dominic par rapport à son passé, ce dernier décide de se faire passer pour son petit ami afin d’éloigner Malcolm, l’ex de Reese. Seulement très vite les lignes se brouillent entre fiction et réalité et Reese ne sait pas si Dominic fait vraiment semblant ou si les sentiments sont réels entre eux. Et si c’est bien réel peut-elle se faire confiance cette fois?
C’est un très bien dernier tome.
Je trouve cela très bien que la série se conclut avec Reese qui est un personnage clé de la série. Je l’ai beaucoup aimé. Elle est douce et drôle à la fois, très proche de sa famille mais a quand même pris du tempérament au fil du temps et ne se laisse plus intimider aussi facilement.
Dominic lui est grumpy au début mais finalement adorable et tendre avec Reese. Il est protecteur et loyal et aussi très romantique. Il aide beaucoup Reese à reprendre confiance en elle et à se défendre contre Malcolm.
Leur relation est à la fois drôle et touchante, elle résume parfaitement cette série.
La trame est très sympa même si elle reste classique. Il y a des rebondissements qui amènent du souffle à l’histoire. Cependant j’ai été un tout petit peu déçue de la conclusion entre Reese et Malcolm que j’ai trouvé trop simple.
J’ai adoré retrouver les Maxwell même si je les ai trouvé un tout petit moins présent que dans les tomes précédents.
Ce tome est une très bonne conclusion à une très bonne saga et cela m’a donné très envie de lire les autres séries de Layla Hagen. J’en ai plusieurs qui m’attendent dans ma TBR Goodreads je pense donc en reparler très rapidement.
En attendant je recommande vraiment cette série si vous chercher des lectures douces, drôles et tendres qui réchauffent le coeur, centrées sur la famille.

I want more. I want more. Are you joking me?! WHY WHY IS THIS THE SHORTEST ONE!!! Dominic Waldorf THE MAN YOU ARE! The hottest most beautiful man in the fashion industry is introduced to us here. He’s got tats and a temper ugh we love a powerful man in a suit. I also love that he’s the only man in these books that didn’t go completely macho alpha male.
The meet cute was also perfect. A charity gala where Reese was getting a tad overwhelmed due to ex- Malcolm 🤮being back in town and trying to flaunt in front of her. Well Mr Waldorf isn’t gonna have any of that he steps in and we create a FAKE DATING SITUATION!! but now they’re in too deep and they have to convince everyone they’re dating…but is it really convincing at this point. Listen, all the other books seemed to jump into a relationship head first. Very instalove. Now, this was insta-attraction but it wasn’t forced. They were attracted to each other obviously but it felt real.
Malcolm can suck my left toe. He’s such a hobknocker but honestly he added some spice to the series so I’ll take it.
Reese and Dom are definitely my favorite book. I hate it was such a short book I really did want more but I’m also happy it didn’t drag out too much. The epilogue was also nice to see who ended up where and how much the family grew after 6 years. These books take place over I assume 4-6 years and then a 6y epilogue. It was nice closing it out and seeing how the couples were doing especially all the way back to Tate from B1

Before I start, can we all just take a moment and thank the world for Dominic Waldorf, that man…. 💋
Now that’s done, I’ve got to say Reece may be my favourite Maxwell family story, and while I love her, Dominic ( Dom) really Stoke the pages. It’s about time Reece got her forever love cause I thought for sure she’d be never ending drama! If you’ve followed the other Maxwell siblings, you’ll know Reece’s story, she’s the cousin who had a bad relationship, ending in a horrible break up and drama no woman should have to live, she’s sworn off men, love, forever…. Or so she thought!
Dominic Waldorf, is fresh out if a bad marriage, he’s always hottest bachelor fodder, constant women throwing the seat him, so when he meets Reece courtesy of a spilled drink, he thinks she’s another gold digger looking for his body and money. He really had no clue that his presence would change Reece’s liked forever. Especially when the devil himself Malcolm shows up with his pregnant wife intent on destroying Reece’s life, like he hasn’t done enough already.
Dom jumps in to help her, a simple pretend relationship to remove Malcolm from her life. Either saw that bring the beginning of a beautiful relationship, one that Reece so desperately deserves, and Dom to find a woman who loves him for him, not his bank account, although the store he owns is a plus too.
