"If I don't fight for myself no one will"

I Want to Move On was a fantastic book of stories told with the intention of teaching the reader how to move on. I have grown fond of self help books and find them extremely rewarding. With that being said this was my first book from this author and I cannot wait to read more of her work.

Within this book, different unwanted thoughts are not only portrayed in an extremely accurate and relatable way, they were also remedied with helpful tips and practical tools related to God to beat the bitterness we all may feel at one point or another.

I cannot wait to utilize some of the techniques discussed in this book and finally get my life back BITTERNESS FREE! Pick up a copy of this book, you will not regret it!

I Want To Move On was a very good read. I started the book and found myself quickly wanting to continue reading...it was easy to read and written in a way that was personable.

The book had some great insights into this topic and I loved how the chapters were set up. It was especially nice how they ended with an application section and prayer.

All in all, I Want To Move On was a really good read and I recommend it. A tough subject, but this book dealt with it very well, I think.

Lauren Vander Linden’s book on moving past bitterness and learning to forgive serves as a reminder to Christians about how one should live.

The overarching theme in the book is that the choices one makes and the way the choose to live should reflect God’s character. Of course, it is easy to choose bitterness because often life seems unfair. It is easy to not forgive, but God requires forgiveness and the release of bitterness for our healing. Additionally, since He is greater than we are, we should trust in His will and not allow bitterness to hold us back.

While the anecdotes and messages of this book may not be groundbreaking to its target audience, but it moves the reader to contemplate how bitterness affects their life. Lauren frequently discusses scripture, balancing with her use of personal stories.

Anyone who's ever felt offended or wronged should read I Want to Move On (and that's everyone). Lauren so tenderly addresses the reader who has been hurt but has let their hurt fester into bitterness, and she shares much of her own experience with offense, bitterness, and finding forgiveness.

Each chapter is titled after a different thought one might have if struggling with bitterness: "I Know I Shouldn't Feel This Way," "They Have Something I Deserve," "If I Don't Stick Up For Myself, No One Will," "I Didn't Think Christians Would Do This," etc. She talks about the root of bitterness that's referenced in the Bible, how bitterness is a foothold for the enemy, how deeply vital forgiveness is, and how God fights for us, delivers us, and brings justice. In the very last chapter, she offers some extremely practical steps for forgiveness and knowing if you've forgiven those who've hurt you.

Lauren feels like a dear friend to me after reading her book! She tackles a prickly topic with grace, humor, gentleness, and relatability. The whole time I was reading, I kept thinking, "I needed this book 4-5 years ago" (during some icky breakups) and maybe even 2-3 years ago. But even so, I'm so glad I read it now, and I have a feeling I'll need it again in the future. Highly recommend it to anyone who feels even the smallest root of bitterness poking up in their heart, and who wants to experience the abundant freedom Jesus desires for us when we live in forgiveness.
