**Read the book that started it all! An entertaining tale of adventure for the whole family.

Five children discover they have special powers. They are destined to save the world with these gifts.

First, they must learn how to use them.**

Five cousins fall asleep in their grandparents' basement and share a dream. In it, they have special powers. Haley can leap across the room, Braden can move objects with his mind, Jack moves at super speed, and Jillian can make anything she wants appear before her eyes. What they don't know is they come from a long line of legendary warriors, Dream Fighters, and it is now their turn to join the fight.

Led by their uncle, they learn of a centuries old order of people with special abilities just like their own. In order to protect the real world, they must stop an invasion by the evil Sarlak and his army of Gorgons. With only their uncle, himself trapped in Jillian's doll, as a guide, they must master their newfound powers and stop this attack before it starts.

Along the way, they will discover their specific powers and understand how to use them, as well as control their fear and learn to work together, even when they really don't want to. Only hours before they were just normal kids playing video games in the basement. Now they wield the same powers they used in those games, only there are no save points or restarts. This time, everything counts and there are no second chances.

From sinister traps and magical trickery, they will fight off Sarlak's plan and somehow find a way to save the day. Whose power will lead them to victory? Which one of them will fall under Sarlak's spell? This first book in the Dream Fighter Chronicles tells the story of how it all began for these future heroes.

Discovery! is an action-packed and entertaining adventure for children from 8 to 88, offering readers young and old a chance to imagine the endless possibilities in the dream world. Intended to read like a video game, it will capture the imagination of all readers, pulling them into its magical world and leaving them on the edge of their seat.

Cool superhero adventure for kids
Hayley, Braden, Jack and Jillian wake up in an alternate dimension where they have superpowers. Their uncle in the form of a doll gives them guidance and soon they discover what they are supposed to do in this world. There is also a voice that guides one of them as they fight the army of Gorgons. Nice adventure/superhero story for older kids. Good read.

This is a young readers novel perfect for summer reading by kids in late elementary school or even early jr. high school. The cousins must use their powers in a creative way to overcome the evil Sarlak by taking back control of the mind of a Lord on an alien world who was once beneficent but whose mind is under the control of Sarlak.

Creative problem solving is the theme in this book because the kids best chance at success is to fight indirectly instead of head on. So its a great read for a young mind. I can't say there is much to recommend it to adults. While the characters of the cousins are all very well drawn they over narrative is a little too simple for adults. That just means it's a great read for kids or to read to kids. Not every novel needs to ride on roads leading to every type of reader at the same time.

Keeping in mind that this book was geared towards Middle Grade readers, I still enjoyed the concept and storyline. If grammar mistakes and typos ruin a story for you, then be forewarned that this one has many.

Dialogue between characters can be very repetitive and frustrating many times throughout this book, but as that was actually pointed out on one occasion, I'm assuming it was continued on purpose to illustrate a child's point of view while trying to speak with adults.

There's a lot of morals for kids to learn about in this book. Some of the main ones are teamwork, trust, and responsibility all while stretching the limits of your imagination. With that being said, I would certainly recommend this book to any young reader.

A good quick read. In the near future I'll get the rest of the series.
