Shattered

Sam Kenny has known all along that the traumatic brain injury he suffered in a car accident two years before has never fully healed, and it won’t until he has an operation to fix the bleed at the back of his head.

Unwilling to risk the consequences should the operation go wrong, he’s never told his mom or his twin, Jordan, that any day it could just rupture and kill him. Sam knew they would have tried to persuade him to have the operation, and when he was still recovering from the accident and at his weakest, he'd decided that the only way he'd be able to stand his ground, was if he simply didn't tell them.

When his dizzy spells worsen to the point where he feels he can’t do his job properly, Sam is left with no choice but to open up to his brother, and tell him the truth. He has no answer when an angry Jordan points out that Sam could have died, and because of his selfish choice to keep his condition secret, nobody would have had the chance to prepare themselves to say goodbye.

When Jordan takes a time-out, and goes on a road-trip to get away from Sam for a few weeks, Sam starts to appreciate exactly how badly he’s hurt his twin.

He’s faced with the hardest choice he’s ever had to make. Undergo an operation which could leave him quadriplegic or even dead, or lose the brother who has been there for him, every step of the way, from the minute they were born.

Aisha Raman is one of the world’s most recognisable Asian faces. A supermodel since she was just eighteen, she’s held up as a role model for young women everywhere, following her refusal to pose semi-nude or wearing anything that would embarrass her family, and her choice to live a quiet and private life, away from the spotlight. Most people believe her reasons to be because of her strict Muslim upbringing.

But what most people don’t know, is that whilst her father is from Pakistan, her mom is from good Irish stock, and like both of her parents, Aisha is a practising Roman Catholic, born and raised in Chicago.

When a sex-tape is leaked onto the internet, supposedly showing Aisha not just with her ex-boyfriend, but two of his friends as well, she’s forced to hire security when she starts receiving death threats from Islamic extremists, accusing her of bringing shame on fellow Muslims.

Could her life get any more complicated?

Well, yes!

Aisha? Meet Sam!

3.5 romantic thriller

I do think the blurb needs to prominently disclose when a book contains potential trigger warnings such as this one - reference to rape and torture. Sadly, I don't recall this book blurb containing any such warning.
The characterisation is excellent, I adored Sam and although Aisha is well crafted I did think her character a bit wishy washy.
The plotline is actually quite good, but it takes forever to move forward.
Rape is once again referenced in the book, it seems to be a 'go to' option as a plot device for the author and quite frankly I find it disturbing to see it used so liberally by the author. If it's not a past event it's a current event or it's a threatened event.
The plotline could have been developed and become much more enjoyable if the bad guys had been written more prominently, providing a new dimension to the story.
It's a sweet romantic thriller with, I think, only one sex scene but lots of swearing.
If you are a fan of the genre I have no problem recommending the series

All down hill

Firstly while Pakistan is located technically in Asia Aisha would be Indian/Pakistani and Scottish (you wouldn’t say English with Scotland being in the UK) not Asian and that just annoyed me each time I read Asian. Then there’s the whole falling in love after day two bit even if they didn’t get together until after the surgery. The plot was good and the relationship of the siblings was great. Sadly Clive I think it was had literally nothing except the one scene but he’s a team member (even if he is married and older already) it’s almost pointless to include him.

Great!

I chose this rating because this was a really great book. I really enjoyed most of the characters. This was a book of compassion, kindness, not being so judgmental and just having out one another and being of the person. Sam and Aisha they got off to a bumpy start at first. Sam came to his senses and realize you don't always judge a book by its cover. Or what you hear in the news. I really enjoyed this book the author did an awesome job. She hit on a lot of details and it was easy to understand. Great read! I recommend this book to all romance readers.😉

Taking risks for the living

It amazes me how all these characters are well played out in these stories. Yet, there's always a main story. Sam and Aisha are not like you typical couple base in their backgrounds. Aisha being a super model in her prime who's receiving death threats. She lives in a superficial world, eventhough she's well grounded. Sam has a head injury that is killing him and stealing his quality of life slowly but surely. When their world crashed together, they make the choice of wanting to live easy. They are a great compliment to each other.

Storyline was good

The last time I wrote a comment about a book it wasn't published. And I didn't have any inappropriate words. Let's see if this one does. Loved the storyline and the characters. What I didn't like was the inconsistent words. "In hospital', 'The floor was wet', when it's the ground. it's hard to read books with those wording when that's not the way we talk.

This book was just ok for me. The plot was solid and the suspense was well done. I just didn’t feel like we got to know either main characters in a very in-depth way. Looking back, now that I’ve read the entire series, we really don’t get much more of this couple at all. Honestly, it doesn’t seem like a real loss.

Next book!

Scary

One women being stalked and lied about. On man with traumatic brain injury that is part of her security detail. The stalker and the Muslim fanatics are just part of this twisty turning story. On the edge of your seat trying to figure out what is going to happen next! Great Read, loving this series!!

Heart-warming still with action

This was the first book that had less action with a more heart-warming story, and it worked so well. I loved Sams journey from broken to whole once his heart was full as well

Very good

This is another enjoyable book in the Stalwart Security series. The strength, loyalty, and intelligence of both the men and women characters are great. This book is entertaining with exciting scenes and romance.
