Deceived is Book 4 of Series 2, The Stalwart Security Series
In Deceived we meet Bella Hammond, widow of a decorated marine, who has been struggling to raise her two kids and keep her business going for the last seven years.
When she discovers that someone has fraudulently taken out a loan against her ranch, she is desperate to find out who is behind it, before she loses the only home her kids have known, and the land that has been in her late husband's family for generations. With business on the downward slope, and now a debt she can't afford to repay, she finds herself in a desperate situation, with nobody to turn to for help.
Brandon Campbell has finally paid off the debts that built up paying for his late wife's medical care, and is finally enjoying being able to feel financially solvent for the first time in five years.
When Ryan Tucker, Stalwart's CEO offers him the chance to go on an all-expenses paid vacation to an adventure ranch in Arizona, taking his daughter and two best friends along for the ride, Brandon honestly can't see a down side. Horse-riding, hiking, quad-biking and fresh air for two weeks? Hell, where does he sign up?
Of course, there's a little work to be done during the vacation, a bit of snooping and asking a few questions, but that's hardly going to take up much time, is it?
Confused and surprised by the instant attraction he feels for the beautiful widow, Brandon is hard pressed to focus on the job, as he realises that his heart hasn’t been turned to stone following his wife’s death as he’d assumed.
But as Bella’s problems escalate and take on a sinister twist, Brandon finds himself between a rock and a hard place.
Either he tells her why he’s there, and risks losing any affection that’s been building between them, or he tells her nothing, and risk everything imploding if she finds out just how badly she’s been deceived.
Why can’t anything ever be simple?

A Stalwart Security Series Military Romance (Follow-up to The Alpha Company Women Series)
These stories just keep getting better. I've stayed away from vet stories because they have so much heartbreak. I'm just not built for such emotional trauma. I value their sacrifices and always hope the best for them. When it comes to love, I believe that the touch and love of a spouse/partner can help heal most wounds. Brandon and Bella had suffered their own lost of a life spouse. Not trusting to give their hearts to anybody else, they've been widowed for years. It's nice to trust your gut and go with your heart at love at first sight. As much as I enjoy the love story, I couldn't understand these security guys' strategy with securing the gold and rescuing the girls.
I chose this rating because this was a really great book. I really enjoyed most of the characters. This was a book of compassion, protection, dependability, and being an awesome parent. I really enjoyed this book off Brandon and Bella to me they made an amazing couple. They both had children of their own. I love the way they interact with each other along with the other guys from his team. Great read. The author did an amazing job it was well written as well. She touched on family and I really love that. There isn't anything like a loving family. I recommend this book to all romance readers.
I am enjoying this series and I'm glad Brandon gets his own story. However there is a strange reluctance in this one for anyone to ask obvious questions and I did find that irritating. Having said that there are plenty of positives, not least the characters developing, the setting was a nice change, and there are even a couple of unexpected curves thrown in. Not the best in the series but not bad. 3.5/5 from me.
No plot spoilers No potential triggers although there is a kidnap included in the plotline. There are some errors but nothing to get too irritated about. There are a couple of sex scenes and some swearing. The characterisation is excellent, and with Brandon being my favourite character I was happy to read his story. Bella is a good strong female lead. If you are a fan of the genre I have no problem recommending the series
I like that it took me some chapters to realize who the story catered too (I don’t read the description). This story was a little more grounded and not as much action but I think that was for the better. I’m happy for Brandon and Abby both having loved lost and found each other. The big blended family house in the end was perfect!
I have read the whole series with one more to go and I can say I have thoroughly enjoyed every single book. I have laughed and cried and loved all the alpha males and women would recommend this series.
I like the story but very predictable. Really don't like Sam and Jordan choice for wife's. The should have African American wives. Cute ending won't read anymore since both did have not black wives. Again cool reading just wrong wives for Sam and Jordan
3.5 from me. There was just so much emotional upheaval in this one. Both main characters had lost their spouse, lots of dark moments within the plot, and a lot of far-fetched premises to get to a HEA. Not my favorite in the series.
