New magical revelations threaten a deeper bond.

Despite Ethan Mather's narrow escape from a magical attack, he refuses to give up his political ambitions and to stop making public appearances. Unable to convince him of the dangers, Stella Aldren steps into untested waters and hires a pack of wolf shifters to act as his bodyguards.

But even the wolves can't guarantee Ethan's safety, and with two warring covens hunting him down—one that wants to probe him for information about their stolen athame, and another wanting him dead—the man is careening down a perilous path.

As Stella and Ethan's relationship steams up and the enemies close in, it becomes critical they unlock Ethan's spellbound magic, even if doing so threatens to bring the duo closer to a magical pairing—a powerful but perilous fate, especially for two witches who don't need yet another way to die.

She was falling for an idiot. A very handsome, sexy, intelligent-in-most-things but stupid-where-it-counted, Mather-born witch politician. She'd say she had a type, but Ethan was in a category all his own.

5 stars!

I've been eagerly awaiting this sequel ever since I finished book one and Anne left us hanging on that cliffy, and I was not disappointed! This book got me over a book slump as I am so obsessed with Stella and Ethan's battle for their love and their freedom. Both Stella and Ethan finally get some hard-earned answers as we learn more about their histories and discover just how intricately their pasts are woven into their futures. There were so many new layers opened up in this book which acted to further complicate the attraction and the pull they feel towards each other, but I loved seeing as they finally succumb to their passions and accept each other. Despite his questionable actions and apparent disregard for his safety, Ethan is impossible not to love, and their ultimate combustion was sooo steamy! I am so stoked for all of the new developments that are thrown at us and cannot wait for the next book🖤

Tropes: enemies-to-lovers, forbidden love, fated mates, cinnamon-roll hero, magical heroine, hidden powers, magical prophecy, hero-in-danger, found family, slow burn, mild cliffhanger ending (part of a series), STEAMY🔥

My Ethan, the charming and sexy gubernatorial candidate after your heart...

I finished this book earlier and the month and sort of simmered with how to review. The first book was so strong in the world building and the witch lore and the building of Ethan and Stella's romance. I feel like this second book fell a little flat.

Overall it still held my attention because it opened up with us diving deeper into Ethan's suppressed magic but I feel like the whole rest of the book was just them running or them being intimate. It almost seemed like things were introduced for the shock factor instead of a real flow. I read another reader's review and I agree with the feeling that Stella's I dependent life was completely thrown about the window and now her whole life revolves around Ethan. I loved their intimate moments, don't get me wrong, the spice was great.

However, she was introduced as a struggling store owner who was close to defaulting in her home and had very close ties with her coven. Now it's just all thrown out the window and she's all about Ethan and his life for most of the book and everyone including her family is misguided and doesn't understand and it seems to have really strayed from book 1's foundation. I do want to see what happens in the end so I'll probably continue the series at a later date.

7/10 ⭐️

Wicked Coven - Stella Aldren (a witch from Salem who belongs to a modern coven descended from women executed during the Salem witch trials) and her coven discover that a centuries-old curse tied to the trials is still active, and the only way to break it involves killing Ethan Mather, a political candidate and descendant of one of the historical witch hunters. Stella is tasked with the mission, but when she finally meets Ethan, she realizes things are not as simple as magic surrounds him too, and another rival coven from Boston is also hunting him for reasons tied to dark magic. As Stella investigates the truth behind the curse, she becomes caught between loyalty to her coven, a growing connection to Ethan, and a dangerous magical conflict between rival witches.
Villainous Magic - Stella and Ethan confront the deeper consequences of the curse and the powerful magic that links their families histories. The existence of rare and dangerous forms of magic begins to surface, revealing that the Salem witches legacy is far more complicated than anyone believed. The investigation into the true nature of the curse deepens, and Stella must learn more about her own magical abilities while navigating the tension between covens and the political danger surrounding Ethan’s rising public career.
Shadow Gambit - The magical conflict expands beyond a simple coven rivalry. Stella and Ethan’s magical bond grows stronger, revealing their connection may be central to breaking or unleashing the ancient curse. Stella must balance emotional choices with strategic magical decisions while uncovering secrets about rare magical bloodlines and hidden magical artifacts. As threats escalate and alliances shift, the story moves into an active magical battle for control over powerful supernatural forces.
Collector’s Hoard - The search for powerful magical artifacts becomes central. Stella and her allies realize that whoever controls these relics may gain the power to control the outcome of the curse. As they track down these dangerous magical items, they uncover more secrets about the history of the Salem witches and the true origins of the curse affecting their descendants. The journey forces the characters to explore hidden magical networks and confront enemies who are willing to manipulate dark magic to achieve their goals.
Equinox Enthralled - The approaching equinox creates a rare moment when powerful spells can be cast and long standing magical bonds can be altered. Stella and her allies race against rival supernatural factions to prepare for this moment, knowing that the ritual performed during the equinox could determine whether the curse is finally broken or whether even darker magic will be unleashed. At the same time, relationships, loyalties, and magical identities are tested as the characters prepare for a confrontation that could reshape the magical world.

Blood Sorcery (Book 6)
The final book brings the long-running conflict surrounding the Salem curse, the witch covens, and the dangerous magical bloodlines to its climax. Secrets that have been hidden for generations finally come to light, revealing the true origins of the curse and the forces that have been manipulating events from the shadows. Stella must fully embrace her magical power and make choices that will determine not only her own fate but also the future of the witch descendants and their enemies. The story concludes with the resolution of the curse, the fate of the magical factions, and the ultimate consequences of the long history between witches and witch hunters.

Overall, I really enjoyed The Cursed Descendants series, especially the books focused on the witches. One of the things I liked the most is that the witch storyline focuses heavily on the plot, the magical history, and the mystery of the Salem curse instead of relying too much on spice.
The magic system is well explained, consistent, and interesting, which makes the world feel believable and immersive. I found the covens, the curse, and the magical politics very engaging, and I liked following how the story slowly revealed the deeper magical history behind everything.
On the other hand, I didn’t enjoy the werewolf-focused books as much because they were much more focused on smut than on the plot. I mostly read those parts just so I wouldn’t miss anything connected to the witches’ storyline.
Overall, though, the witch arc of the series was very captivating and made the whole series worth reading.

Hidden Identities, Locked Magic, Rival Covens, Shifters & A Colonial Curse!

If that title doesn't grab your attention, I don't know what will. This book, just like Book One, was simply amazing! All of the character building and narrative design that was so wonderfully developed there was used as a jumping off point to allow even more action, mystery, and romance to blaze across the page immediately following the jaw dropping cliff hanger from Book One! But now Ethan and Stella are finding new allies - both witches and shifters as well as fighting off both the Boston and Salem Covens. Yet, their passion and connection is more intense, pure, and truer than ever before. Also, they both are discovering new truths and coming into powers that they never knew they had which are shifting their worlds on their axis. Literally, these two can start a fire together with a look into each others eyes!

I know that sounds coy and mysterious, and it is. I am not sure what to say that will not be a spoiler for you and I don't want to rob you of one second of the reading experience I had, so I'm not saying alot. I can say that you will feel like you have a new friend in Stella because she is that real. Her voice, actions, feelings, conflicts, and desires are so beautifully written across both books that you feel for her at each decision she faces. And, you will find yourself giving her advice and talking to her at several scenes. And Ethan...oh Ethan...he's like the boy next door you have always had a crush on but you never thought he noticed you back...even though he did. Now, he has returned home and he's still is the sweet boy you always loved inside, but now he's got got a body built for sin and the swagger of a man who knows he can use it. Yet, at his core, he's still the boy who will cut his knees and take your cat's claws to rescued your cat that got stuck in a tree, oh and he will so give you a smile and a wink while doing it.

Three notes about this book:

1) You cannot read this out of order. This series is one singular and extremely interconnected story. Book Two literally picks up where One ends.

2) The author is incredible not just in her writing style and voice but also in her planning. Although this ends on another cliffhanger, the next book is due out in November so no dramatically long term hanging from that cliff. 😁

3) If you can plan this as a weekend read please do so. This book has such power and drive it will leave you sneaking pages in on your phone at work and growling at co-workers for interrupting you. As well as reading long past your bedtime. 😉.

The second book of A. S. Green’s Cursed Descendants series, Villainous Magic proved to be a great second book, although, once again, very short. All the magical elements I loved in the first book was carried forward seamlessly into this one as well. I loved the premise and the pacing of the story. It was fast paced and filled with witchy action and plot twists that managed to grab my attention.

However in this book I felt somewhat let down by the fact Stella and Ethan were solely focused on getting rid of Bishop curse and unlocking Ethan’s magic. Their daily life commitments were completely ignored. I mean Stella was on the verge of bankruptcy, with a failing business, a mortgage and business loan she was late on. Ethan was a candidate for office with a lot of responsibilities. I do understand staying alive mattered above all but while the author at least tried to show that Ethan was remotely managing his schedule, Stella’s financial troubles were all but forgotten. It actually made me wonder whether Stella would have actually made the decision to go into hiding with Ethan if he wasn’t a millionaire who could throw money around like it was nothing. It was as though the author had already decided Stella’s financial freedom and stability wasn’t important now that she had a rich man wrapped around her finger.

Another thing that still nagged me was the casual way the covens, even Stella brushed off murder. They didn’t even show an inkling of emotion, unless, UNLESS it was the murder or sacrifice of one of their own witches that was in question. Then Stella would “even shudder” to think of the possibility. The hypocrisy of it left a bitter taste in my mouth.

A good chunk of this short book was dedicated to Stella and Ethan’s physical intimacy scenes, not that I am complaining. lol! I loved their first time together. It felt believable and natural. There wasn’t any false macho shit from Ethan. He was vulnerable and wasn’t afraid to admit he might not be at his best as he was overwhelmed by their magical connection and the feel of Stella in his arms for the first time. That was really endearing and relatable.

The addition of shifter pack and their involvement in the story was really refreshing too.

Once again, Villainous Magic was a great book with a lot of promise. Recommended for anyone who is looking for a good but compact dose of witchy romance filled with action and suspense, not to forget spice!

Thrills of magical elements as well as clear and present danger!
Villainous Magic (Cursed Descendants Book 2) by A. S. Green is the highly anticipated continuation of Stella and Ethan’s journey. More paranormal and magical elements become a part of this series as this magical couple navigate direct threats.
At times it seems there’s no escaping those who wish them harm and throughout the book, just as one question is answered, ten more need to be asked!
I love how this author continues the anticipatory pace of this book, making it another fantastic page turner. The plot remains as compellingly engaging as Wicked Coven. And the characters, even as their dynamic expands and evolves, are just as intriguing and endearing as they were upon first introduction.
I LOVE how palpable the connection between Ethan and Stella is. The conflict is still very real for Stella while not fully understood by Ethan. To say that things are heating up is an understatement and Stella’s conflict is ever more pronounced. What she wants is not aligning with what she has led herself to believe.
Overall, the magic is truly talking in this second book of this thrilling series! Definitely not a book I wanted to put down and even though some questions are answered, there is still so much more to discover. Which way this author decides to take this couple in their magical journey of discovery and fate is yet to be revealed and this reader is totally on pins and needles awaiting what is coming at them next.

First of all, I always enjoy a book by AS Green. She has a deeee-lightful writing style that carries the plot through. She has good pacing, and even though there’s suspense and a little tension, I know she’s going to make everything alright in the end.

One of the unique things I enjoy with reading books by Green is that she understands her readers’ need for the next book—especially if there’s a cliffhanger. Green often publishes her serials about a month after each title, keeping her readers out of misery, while keeping the plot firmly in their minds.

Villainous Magic picks right up (and I do mean literally…right up) where the action of Book 1 ends. And she moves the plot forward from there.

I appreciate her gentle style with pacing. It’s not a relentless push forward, but it doesn’t really stall too much, which I enjoy.

There is actual spice in this book, and her spice scenes never feel contrived or redundant. (I mean, there are only so many ways…) but she’s always got something to add that makes it feel special.

The plot moves almost exactly where you think it will, and that’s OK. Because we know it’ll all be alright in the end. And that’s why I’m looking forward to the next book. I’m not sure if this qualifies as cozy fantasty or cozy-adjacent, but I reach for these books when I’m needing something that doesn’t race my heart, but still lose myself in the world and the story.

Rcvd an advanced reader copy from booksprout for giving my two cents. We met Stella in the previous book where she was selected by her coven to get rid of Ethan bc he is a Mather. The descendant of those who did witches wrong in Salem. When Stella saves Ethan from an attack she knows its wrong and that Ethan has magic even if he is unaware of it. Ethan is determined to keep hos political aspirations a go except he and Stella are attacked at his office by the 2 covens. They manage to escape and Stella remembers that George, her caregiver growing up telling her and her sister that wolf shifters will usually offer help....she just hopes the area pack is willing. Roman, the Alpha offers them protection and knows of a crone who may be able to help Ethan unlock his magic. At a political convention, Ethan and everyone else is under attack by the Boston and Salem covens and Stella realizes that when her and Ethan touch they are stronger together. After managing to thwart the attack, Roman takes them to the crone, Goody Jane. Stella senses magic and Jane's magic is ancient. Will the crone be able to unlock Ethans magic? Will they be able to stay safe? And there's the question of the the curse...will Stella figure out how to undo it...or will it be her undoing? Next book please.

*4.5 stars!

The action doesn’t stop in Villainous Magic, the second book in the Cursed Descendants series! This series is fast paced and such a fun read. Book 2 hooked my attention from the beginning and I had a hard time putting it down. Stella and Ethan form a deeper connection as they hide from the covens trying to hunt them down. Their connection is undeniable and with the heat turned up between them in book 2, it just fueled their fire. It was very interesting to learn more about Ethan’s past and I wish we would’ve gotten a little more backstory on the witches in his family. We finally get an introduction to the Wolf Pack and they are a pretty tight crew! They all have the swagger and nonchalance that comes with being a shifter and take their jobs as protector seriously. They made an excellent addition to the story and I hope they continue to make an appearance in the next book. After learning that there is a possibility to break Bishop’s curse and the plot twist at the end, I am super excited for book 3 to come out! I can’t wait to see how they handle this new development and what it might mean for their future!.

🌬 ARC Review 🌬

Villainous Magic literally takes place moments after the cliffhanger of Wicked Coven. (You must read Wicked Coven first for full enjoyment of Villainous Magic.) A.S. Green amps up more action, more big reveals, more history, more wicked good sex 😏, more twists & turns, more emotions, more magic, more explanations of magic secrets & fears... are all revealed in the next installment of Ethan & Stella. SO much happens in this 2nd book! You hit the ground running & it doesn't stop.

I love this passage of Ethan sharing his feelings with Stella:

“...when I think of how I feel when you hold my hand, I swear I’m lighting up from the inside. To get any closer to you might actually set me on fire ... It was always inevitable. I knew I was a goner as we danced at my fundraiser.” 🥰

...aaaaannnnddd - can I say that Ethan & Stella's shower at the wolves' den will live free in my mind... 🥵🔥💋

I cannot wait for Shadow Gambit to come out! 🖤💜🖤💜 I also bought this gorgeous paperback to add to my collection.

While the first book held great promise and set my expectations high, the sequel fell short of greatness. Despite this, my investment in the series remains, fueled primarily by the captivating story and plot. The male protagonist, Ethan, has become a favorite with his delightful, bubbly, and sweet personality. The qualities of a golden retriever boyfriend. His interactions and conversations with other characters provide both humor and endearing moments. Furthermore, the evolving of his character, coupled with the intriguing backstory, keeps me hooked.

On the otherhand, the writing style of the author occasionally perplexes me. Some chapter endings and plot developments seem disjointed, lacking the coherence I desire. Fortunately, this minor concern doesn't deter me from continuing the series.

Despite the writing style nuances, my affection for Ethan and the engrossing storyline compels me to continue. I eagerly anticipate the next installment, hoping for a harmonious blend of plot intrigue and improved narrative flow.

Book 2 continues where book 1 ends. Stella and Ethan can’t seem to catch a break. It one thing after another. There are so many twists and turns throughout it. We meet new characters that really adds to the suspense of the story. We learn some answers to our questions from book 1. The book is extremely well written and developed. I absolutely love how unique and interesting this story is. It definitely is a must read and it honestly doesn’t disappoint, we end this book in a major cliffhanger and I am super excited for the next book in the series.

“So,” he said, “it’s real. I can’t believe it. She was right.” - Ethan

And with those words, Stella's world was shaken, stirred, turned upside down and inside out... The impossible had become reality, and a person who should be completely off limits is becoming more and more irresistible.... How can Stella fulfill her duty to her coven without losing everything she never knew she desired .... ?

This book; oh this book! I couldn't stop reading until I had devoured every. last. word. A delight from start to finish!

Stella is still trying to save Ethan but in this book we dive into their history and how their lives are intertwined. Many secrets are uncovered but their is still much to unravel.
This story is so well written that you get hooked straight away. The interaction is believable and the tension between Stella and Ethan is palpable as their relationship develops.
It also doesn’t hurt that there is an introduction of hunky wolf shifters. I wouldn’t say no if there was a spinoff series in the works!
This is a great addition in the series and I cannot wait for the next chapter!

Read book one, wicked Coven? Well dive on into this second book cause it is every bit as incredible and if you haven’t read book one, well what are you waiting for??
As we pick up from where we left off, Ethan and Stella’s story grows and becomes more action filled, more dangerous and has more magic, more excitement and twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat. The author weaves such a tale that once started I couldn’t stop reading as our mc’s get closer and the enemies close in and the stakes are raised even higher. Cannot wait for the next book!

Stella and Ethan are back in book two of the Cursed Descendants series and this book picks up where book one Wicked Coven left off. If you read book one then you were probably like me anxiously waiting for book two to find out what happened to the characters. Well, let me tell you this book did not disappoint. Stella and Ethan go through a lot in this action packed, slow burn romance with danger, drama, suspense, interesting characters, magic, unexpected twists, steam, and an ending that left me so ready for book three. I loved the turns the story took in this second book. There were some unexpected turns and twists and you are never sure - are your allies really your allies or maybe not really? The steamy factor rapidly rose too in this book, I liked that very much. The story has everything it needs to make you addicted to the series - suspense, mystery, steam, romance, loyalty and an intriguing storyline to begin with. I fell in love with the characters even more and can't wait for the next part!.

WOW...In this book, Ethan and Stella are in for a lot more danger, intrigue, and excitement. Even with the wolves' assistance, these two can't seem to get a break, with danger lurking around every turn. This is a must-read series that does not disappoint. This story picks up right where Wicked Coven ends with the adventure and excitement carrying until the end. I have no idea how A.S. Green is able to keep the danger level at that intensity level through an entire story, but they did. It's fabulous! So many twists and turns, an abundance of surprises, and characters that live in my brain long after the story ends. Seriously, this is one of my favorite reads of the year.

A.S. Did not disappoint with second installment as we learn more about Ethan and the romance tends to heat up. With locked magic, rival covens, curses and hidden identities you are sure to be pulled in for this one. With just the right amount of suspense you really glide through this book with her writing style. Another book I just can’t put down from this author and leaving me wanting more!

Good story

I love this story. The plot and characters are very well written.

I don't mind hot steamy love scenes but seriously not when running for your life.. Maybe that's just me but it got a bit cheesy there for a bit. Otherwise great book.

I am really enjoying this story. The only thing I would maybe change is the spicy scenes. They feel amazing, a bit forced. Honestly, I am loving the Ethan part of the story. His secret past. I am hooked. Like I said, great book minus the spice. It feels awkward. Am excited to read the next 1.
