This type of book is intended for a specific audience. It's for anime and manga lovers, comicon and artist alleys (I do miss having a table at one of these events). The author brings us a dark humor/Fantasy portal story (isekai) where this character (Harry) is drawn into another world, and after trying to understand what is happening and what kind of world this is, he will lose an event, and in volume 2, he ends up a servant. It's not a graphic novel but an illustrated (full color pages) one in each chapter. If you are sensitive to triggers, be aware that this humor pushes far into gore, silliness, sex, and language. Gave me some nostalgia for the violent but hilarious nonsensical ecchi anime I loved: Oruchuban Ebichu, Ebichan is an R-rated anime.

Although there is a lot of humor and non-sequiturs, the author explores a lot of themes: identity, without memory, depending on actions and reactions to defy personality without being tainted by what his society rules and the memory of laws. It's unexpected; we usually see heroes being pulled into new worlds to save the day. Here, Harry will be powerless. New laws to learn, new sense of freedom. This science in this world is magic and no religion. Court intrigue and all paranoia and plots that come with it.

I think there are a lot of potential fans for this niche book on Instagram & tiktok but the bookstagram community will not get it if they are not adult anime fans and are used to the dark humor style.

Huge, sparkly THANK YOU to the author for not only sending me this gorgeous copy of Vol. 2, but also surprising me with Volume 1 and all the incredible little extras. The packaging? Immaculate. The goodies? So thoughtful. 100/10 experience!

I didn’t think it could get better after the first volume… and yet here we are. Lab Soreno takes the weird, the whimsical, and the wildly unsettling and levels it all up with more mystery, more magic-as-science, and more reasons to love (and worry about) Harry.

Harry’s journey continues to be as unpredictable as it is absorbing. His world might look fantastical, but underneath the vibrant setting and colorful characters is a quiet, growing sense of dread. It’s like every page whispers, something is off, and that feeling builds beautifully across the volume. I love when a book lets you sit in your own unease and figure things out alongside the protagonist. This one nails that.

Also, the art? STUNNING. Every subchapter has a full-page illustration that helps anchor the story visually—and I found myself flipping back just to admire them again.

What I Loved:
• Harry’s inner conflict is even richer in this volume.
• The use of “magic as science” adds a fresh and fascinating twist.
• The worldbuilding is lush and specific without ever feeling overwhelming.
• The artwork throughout adds so much to the experience.
• I felt things about several side characters I didn’t expect to care about.
• The humor hits just as hard as the creepy moments, which is a tricky balance!

What Didn’t Work for Me:
• A couple moments had me needing to reread to fully grasp the implications, especially around the contract stuff.
• I want more answers about Maiara! (Which is maybe not a flaw, just me being impatient.)
• Some dialogue sections were a little long, though the payoffs made it worth it.
• I wish I had someone to dissect every theory with because… whew.

“What if this world was never meant to feel safe? What if the illusion of choice is the cruelest magic of all?”

I am fully hooked. This series has so much heart, so much tension, and so many layers. I’ll absolutely be rereading both volumes and keeping a close eye on whatever Deovandski Skibinski Junior creates next.

Thank you to the author for the gifted copy of A Husband Out of This World, Vol. 2: Lab Soreno by Deovandski Skibinski Junior.

Okay this is one of those books where I immediately knew… this is either going to HIT or completely lose you depending on your vibe. And honestly? I can see both happening.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This feels very much like stepping into a chaotic, slightly unhinged anime. Dark humor, weird worldbuilding, random moments that make you go “what is happening,” and then suddenly something deeper sneaks in about identity and control. It’s a lot, but in a way that feels intentional.

Harry is not your typical isekai hero at all, which I actually really liked. He’s not powerful, he’s not saving the world, he’s kind of just… stuck. And that helplessness adds this weird tension under all the chaos. The whole “magic treated like science” concept was also really interesting and gave the world a different kind of logic.

Also the illustrations?? Such a fun touch. They really add to that anime/manga feel and make the whole thing more immersive.

That said… this is NOT for everyone. The humor is wild, sometimes over-the-top, and it can get graphic. And if you’re not used to this style, it can feel confusing or hard to follow.

I thought this book was fun and well done (I also really like the illustrations). I've been a fan of anime/manga since childhood, so this is my kind of book. It's probably best suited for that specific audience. I look forward to more works by Deovandski Skibinski Junior in the future. My copy of this book, and its predecessor, were won from a Goodreads giveaway and I appreciate the opportunity to read and review this book.

I wanted to quit this book so many times but im no quitter. I won book one from a #GoodreadsGiveaway and book came along with it. I had no clue what was going on a majority of the time and the book was hard to follow. I hope I never read another book like this ever again. I still have no clue why its called "a husband out of this world." He never becomes anyone's husband.

I won this in a Goodreads giveaway. I couldn't finish the first volume so I'm not even attempting the 2nd.

there is too much good content in the world to waste time on something you don't enjoy.

This series is not for me. I received this as a book giveaway from the Author, who sent me both book 1 and book 2. I entered as a gift for my husband, but didn't know he didn't actually read isekai light novels, so I gave it a shot for him. I read book 1, and while it was not bad, I realized this isn't a genre I am interested in. The photos are very well done, and the book bindings are really nice. Thank you again to the author (thanked in the review of book 1), and hopefully someone else better suited to the genre finds this book series.

I'm trying to read this book, but just cannot understand or comprehend the story and what it is all about. I should have never entered to win it. I won this book in a Goodreads give way. That will teach me to check a book without knowing anything about it. I will continue trying to read it, but it's tough. Don't know if I can get through it.
