Once Again

Rate this book
From USA TODAY Bestselling author comes a bite sized story that has all the feels in a fraction of the time.

Evie Barker works hard, takes care of her ailing mother, and finds pleasure in her simple life. The memory of a complicated childhood is all that remains of the old days—And good riddance.

Grady Duke blew out of town before the ink on his high school diploma was dry. A six year stint in the Marine Corps gave him a good dose of the real world. Returning home, sixteen years later, PhD in hand, the last person he expects to find next door is Evie.

Neither can escape the memory of one reckless summer together nor the wild attraction they feel. But taking risks is not in Evie’s disposition and Grady is just as much a gamble now as he was then. Evie knows Grady is the one man who could break her in an unimaginable way or offer her the happiness she's been missing. But first, Grady must atone for the past and prove he's worth a second chance.

Hey! I’m Kristi. I write romances that will tug your heartstrings and laugh out loud mysteries. In all my stories you’ll fall in love with the cast of characters, they’ll become old, fun friends. My one hope is that I create stories that satisfy any of your book cravings and take you away from the rut of everyday life (sometimes it's a good rut).

When I’m not writing I’m spinning (riding a stationary bike, repurposing Happy Planners, or drinking a London Fog (hot tea with frothy milk).

I’m the mom of 2 and a milspouse (retired). We live in the Pacific Northwest and are under-prepared if one of the volcanoes erupts.
Here are 3 things about me:
• I lived on the outskirts of an active volcano (Mt.Etna)
• A spider bit me and it laid eggs in my arm (my kids don’t know that story yet)
• I grew up in Central Florida and have skied in lakes with gators.

I’d love to get to know you better. Join my Read & Relax community and then fire off an email and tell me 3 things about you!

Aww I liked the first one and so I wanted to check the 2nd one. Plus - I needed something short and sweet.

The story follows Evie and Grady. Evie works hard to take care of her mom and take care of those at work. Grady blew out of town the moment he could. He joined the Marines and never wanted to look back, but his old flame, Evie, was always on his mind. Time has passed and Grady is back. Can the two get over the past hearts and rekindle their love?

This gave me what I was looking for. Short and sweet. There was some sadness like Evie's past. Poor girl, but the romance was sweet and quick. I do think Evie should've made Grady beg more ;) But a hot marine? Well..........I forgive you Evie for caving. LOL

I do think this would've benefited by a couple more pages especially in the epilogue! I want more and to see them happy! However, I did find the ending very, very sweet. Nearly gave me a cavity ;)

The narrator was meh for me. She sounded too robotic and I didn't really get the feeling of the story. Bummer.

Overall, I liked this one. Not as much as book 1, but I liked it. I think I would've enjoyed it a touch more if I read it instead. The narrator was too robotic for me. I'll give this 3 stars.

I purchased a copy of Once Again A Coming Home Short Story book 2 by Kristi Rose and this review was given freely.
Once again features Occupational Therapist Evie, friend of the owners of Two Chicks and Bacon diner, and her new nextdoor neighbor aka her first love, Grady.
Humor, attraction, and updates on people from the previous book make this a sweet and enjoyable read.

Evie and Grady had a first love - well lots of firsts together. It is years later and they end up neighbors. At first I was against a reunion but once they really talked I was rooting for them. Loved how persistent he was in righting a wrong and how he went about it in such a sweet way. Also enjoyed getting to know her friends.

I truly loved this short story about Grady and Evie and their second chance at love.

This review is based on the audiobook.
I did like the narrator’s voice, it’s quite nice, but she spoke at high speed, without breathing between sentences it seemed. It sounded as just one long sentence, and sometimes it sounded quit robotic. Despite this all, I really did enjoy the story.

--I was given a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This is my second Kristi Rose book, and again, she brought a wonderful short love story to my ears. The Coming Home series is heartwarming. From the beginning of this story when Evie runs into Grady, you cannot help but root for the two of them to get back together. From their past to their present, they are able to confront the issues and overcome.

Michelle Blenker performs this short well, though at times, she reads very quickly. Enjoyed her voices.

This is a short, sweet romance. For the book to be as short as it was, I felt that Kristi Rose did a great job with the depth of the characters. They were believable and fun. Michelle Blenker did a great job narrating. I will be looking forward to more from this author.
This audio book was a gift from the author in exchange of an honest and unbiased review.

Short and sweet, but great characterizations. Family tragedy handled with maturity and without an excess of angst. Lovely. Highly recommend.

Great short read that introduced me to author Kristi Rose. Rose paints a small town picture with memorable characters that make the reader want to read more about them.
