Three reasons I’m still single by Jayne Grandberry:
1. I’m eleven feet tall and guys are intimidated by my height… okay I’m just six foot, but you get the idea.
2. My British accent makes me sound fancier than I am.
3. Running a business is hard work, and doesn’t leave a lot of time for dating.
Opening a second clothing boutique is my singular focus. So I’m not even trying when my friends set me up with financial wizard, Stacey Cunningham. After my less then stellar first impression, I’m as surprised as anyone when we tumble into bed. Multiple times. For a nerdy single dad he’s got a lot of skills between the sheets.
Actually, he’s the complete package… but this isn’t where I see my life going. I’m not wife or mommy material, and it’s just a matter of time before he realizes I’m not the girl he wants.
Escape to Daytona Beach, bikini body not required. Fall in love with the circle of friends in this No Strings Series. They're like the gals of Charlies Angels only they don't fight crime, they fight falling in love. Each book can be read as a standalone. Each book offers some good laughs and a few feel good moments. Hot hero included.
Hey! I’m Kristi. I write romances that will tug your heartstrings and laugh out loud mysteries. In all my stories you’ll fall in love with the cast of characters, they’ll become old, fun friends. My one hope is that I create stories that satisfy any of your book cravings and take you away from the rut of everyday life (sometimes it's a good rut).
When I’m not writing I’m spinning (riding a stationary bike, repurposing Happy Planners, or drinking a London Fog (hot tea with frothy milk).
I’m the mom of 2 and a milspouse (retired). We live in the Pacific Northwest and are under-prepared if one of the volcanoes erupts. Here are 3 things about me: • I lived on the outskirts of an active volcano (Mt.Etna) • A spider bit me and it laid eggs in my arm (my kids don’t know that story yet) • I grew up in Central Florida and have skied in lakes with gators.

Did not connect to this book at all. I found the MC's voice to be irritating and trying too hard. The British elements were overkill, and it felt like how an American would writing a British MC. It felt inauthentic. I struggled with reading about 50% and then I just gave up.
Read as part of my RT reading challenge, my quest to read new authors before the convention (https://www.rtconvention.com).
Jayne has a clear plan for the future, she wants to be a successful business owner. She has her own shop and personal shopping service and is looking for a location to open a second shop, so she can expand and attract more customers. Jayne is determined to make it on her own, love might hurt her deeply and that's exactly what she tries to avoid. When she meets Stacy, her new neighbor, Jayne vows not to fall in love with him, but maybe they can have some fun?
Stacy is good with numbers. He's a single dad and needs the flexible hours of being his own boss, so he can be there for his daughter. They were ready for a fresh start and Stacy and his daughter perfectly fit in and feel at home in their new neighborhood. Falling in love wasn't part of Stacy's plan, especially not after his recently broken engagement, but Jayne is difficult to resist and after spending a fantastic night together he wants more, but her walls are hard to break down. Will Stacy be able to convince Jayne that love can be wonderful and that she should give it a chance?
The Girl He Wants is a fabulous love story with amazing main characters. Jayne is smart, independent and talented. She loves with all her heart and this makes her friends, family and customers feel great, but it's easy for her to get hurt too. She does everything for the people she holds dear. She doesn't think she's the nurturing type, but she's actually really sweet and generous. That's why she and Stacy are such a good match, they both have beautiful souls and never mind helping others. I loved their chemistry, their easy friendship and the natural way they are always there for one another. Their story captivated me from the start en enchanted me until the very end.
Kristi Rose has a lovely fast-paced writing style. I like how original her main characters are. They have strong personalities with clear wants and needs and she makes them truly special. She creates an atmosphere that's heartwarming through the friendships she writes about, which gives her books a solid foundation. I love a good story about true love and The Girl He Wants definitely falls into that category. It's a delightful story filled with charm, warmth and love. I highly recommend this terrific romantic book.
I've read all the books in this series and have to honestly admit this one is my favorite. I loved Jayne Grandberry and her crazy willingness to let a fortune cookie dictate her future. Too bad not a single cookie predicted she'd meet her match in single dad, Stacy Cunningham. The chemistry is clear between these characters and I found myself rooting for them to beat the push and pull odds between them. The story is funny and emotional and the writing is evocative. Although this book is part of series, each one reads as stand-alone. I'd recommend this to any reader who enjoys a fulfilling, tugs-at-your-heartstrings type of story. Great reading.
I don’t know why, but I couldn’t get into this book. It’s told in first person and something about Jayne’s voice grated on me. Possibly it was the ways the author tried to make her seem British (she seems to only watch Graham Norton and Downton Abbey on telly, ’cause that’s all we watch over here too, and her mum owns a fish and chip shop) or maybe it was the way every so often she would think See Jayne do something… when she was being a bit dense.
Whatever it was, I couldn’t get into the book, didn’t feel any connection to Jayne and gave up trying.
However, judging by the other reviews on Goodreads I’m alone in this. Guess this one just passed me by.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you! It was just released on February 14th.
This is the third instalment in the No Strings Attached series. No worries if you have not read the first two, this can be read as a stand alone if need be. Although if you want my two cents, I recommend reading the whole series as it is entertaining. I read the second story The girl He Needs however have not read the first one. Each story has enough strength on its own.
I will not go in to too much detail about the plot as I feel the synopsis does a pretty good job of it. I also feel that the story stays pretty true to the formula that is most common with this genre. Add in a little bit of humor, particularly with Jayne, and this ends up being a pretty good read. I wish I could hire Jayne to fill my closet for me!
At the end of the day, what makes this story stand out from others in the genre is the humor and how the story was written. Jayne was not the picture perfect female by today's societies standards (yes they still exist). This made her more real to me. The fact that she couldn't/didn't cook appealed to my rebellion of everything domestic. This story does not take itself too seriously.
The Girl He Wants (no Strings attached) is by Kristi Rose. I have to say this is not a good match for me. It is the endless tale of a woman who is avoiding marriage. It seems everyone wants her married except for herself. She meets a man with a nine -year -old daughter and is attracted to him and yet she isn’t interested in marriage. It just goes on and on in first person and gives a lot of information that is not needed. The plot just goes on and on and never seems to move forward. I rarely find a book I just don’t like; but this one fits that will.
The Girl He Wants by Kristi Rose Book 3 of the No Strings Attached series and is a Contemporary Romance.
Jayne may be too busy with plans of world domination for her boutique to have time for love but that doesn't mean she wants to end up as the crazy cat lady either. The feral cat that Jayne sort of "adopted" doesn't count, does it? Besides, who needs men when there's a free naughty channel on tv? Jayne gets a call from her friend Paisley who's on a blind date, asking her to meet her at Maggie May's. Uh oh. Sounds like someone needs rescuing. Jayne drives to Maggie May's but falls asleep in her car in the parking lot. Face down on the steering wheel. On top of her newly painted nails. A concerned passerby asks Jayne if she's okay and tries to open her car door to check on her. Jayne is convinced she's about to get murdered and freaks out on the guy. Then Paisley appears and says to the guy, "Hey, you found her". Ooops.
Stacy is a single dad and a well respected mathematician who recently moved to town to work as a Chief Financial Officer for Brinn, a mutual friend of Stacy and Jayne. Stacy keeps on bumping into Jayne, first at a mutual friend's party, then at a pub owned by Jayne's parents. And there will be plenty of opportunities for more bumping into each other as they're neighbours. Stacy and his daughter Cordie just moved into the townhouse across from Jayne's townhouse. Stacy and Cordie soon become regular visitors at Jayne's home. Stacy's the kind of man who's looking for forever, and that's what he sees when he looks at Jayne.
Jayne does one night stands, not forever, but Stacy's just too addictive for Jayne to resist. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Such as throwing other women at Stacy. Hey, how else is a girl supposed to remove temptation? So why does Jayne's heart hurt after her match making efforts? And why does the green monster come roaring to life when Cordie mentions that Stacy's on a date. With his ex-fiancee. The Girl He Wants is a charming story that's funny, emotional and heartwarming. Jayne and Stacy are a cute and sweet couple but Jayne's fears cause her to fight her strong feelings for Stacy. This book is a must read for fans of sweet romances.
Sweet short story about working hard for your dream, the British accent of Jayne is adorable, and you can practically smell the vinegar on her mum's fish and chips. You 'll have a good laugh at Jayne' s first encounter with the man of her dreams who happens to be a colleague of her friends. She falls asleep behind the wheel of her parked car in front of a bar where she is supposed to meet her friends. But working two jobs plus spending the nights doing the ledgers for her shop takes its toll. So while she waits for her nail polish to dry she nods off and is woken by a stranger knocking on her car window. She panics and thinks he is going to drag her out of her car to murder her- which he doesn't, but just imagine you are introduced to the same man later by your friends.... The bar scene is brilliantly done, if you close your eyes and have somebody read it to you you can see the movie in your head. That is what is my definition for a great writing style. Only one star off because the story is very short and basically just a teaser to keep on reading. P. S. Sorry I nodded off mid-sentence while typing my status yesterday, I can understand Jayne 's feelings very well. And I wasn't painting my nails...
Possibly Unique Technique. This book had something not often seen in trilogies - a blending of the timeline from the first book into the third book. In The Girl He Knows, Rose has a particular scene where a new man is introduced and the lead in that book outright says to herself that this man isn't for her - but would be perfect for her friend. So she calls her friend and demands the friend come out to where she is currently on a double date with this new man and common friends across all of the people involved here. This book actually starts up just before that moment, and the first roughly third of the book actually takes place concurrent with events from the back roughly third of The Girl He Knows, before progressing. This book's weakness is that it spends so much time in the setup that it doesn't really have a chance to actually show the love developing, rather than simply stating that the couple did various things together over a couple of paragraphs. But it is overall a strong book, just with the one major weakness.
Genre: Romance - Contemporary, Comedy Stand-alone: Yes Part of a Series: Yes - Book 3 of the No Strings Attached Series POV: Jayne's Steam level: Warm - nothing explicit, just implied 3.5/5
I'm on the fence about this book. On the one hand it has a great message of overcoming your fears and opening yourself to love. On the other hand, it took a REALLY long time to get there. A huge plus for this book is that it's funny. I found myself giggling about the play on Jayne's name and the early learn-to-read Jane books and the fortunes were hilarious. The humor was both understated and outright silly and completely made this book for me. I'd love to see more of these characters in books to come and am definitely interested in reading the first two books in this series.
I received an Advance copy of this book for free from the author/publisher via NetGalley. I'm voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Opposites Attract 3.5* This is as much a book about friendships and family as it is about romance. The group of girls in this story are all very supportive of each other and rather vocal about who they think are their friends love-match. I liked that Stacy was someone completely different to what Jayne had on her “dream man” list and I thought his gifted daughter Cordie was adorable. I would have preferred more emotion as I didn’t really feel that they were romantically involved (only the lust element came through). This is book 3 in a series and whilst it can be read as a standalone I believe the reader would enjoy it better having read the previous books. I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book gifted by the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I loved Jayne and Stacy’s story. Their chemistry was off the charts even when they were initially at odds. I enjoyed watching them grow closer and build a family together even if Jayne didn’t realize it was happening. A story full of friends, family, changing dreams, and love. Can’t wait for more from the series!
This was the same plot as the first 2 books but with different names. There were so many grammar and spelling errors that made it difficult to read. It also felt like a 14 year old wrote the romance parts and included lots of fade out scenes and references to “Girly Parts” which made me physically cringe. This one was very difficult to get through.
Wonderful story! You can feel the pleasure and love the author had writing it! I especially enjoyed the scenes where all the (girl)friends come together and share their ups and downs. I received a copy for my honest review. Thanks, Kristi Rose, for giving me a chance to read this!
Loved Jayne and Stacy, but I'm glad Jayne got over her fear and let live wins! She's a trip and funny! I enjoyed the story plot! One more book to go, and I am not ready to finish the series!
The Girl He Wants is another fabulous story from author, Kristi Rose. I adore all of her characters, and I find myself completely caught up in their world. I love how tiny bits of each story end up in the other stories. This helps with the continuity of the stories as all the characters are searching, finding, losing, and rekindling love. Though part of a series, this, as well as the others, is a stand-alone story. In this one, we find workaholic, Jayne, falling (or trying not to fall) for her new neighbor, Stacy, and his adorable daughter. The theme in all of these books is “no strings attached”, but of course, there are always strings. And of course, the strings end up becoming the ties that bind. I liked this story almost as much as The Girl He Knows, but Hank and Paisley’s story is still my favorite. I highly recommend them all.
This is a sweet romance about overcoming your own self and falling in love. Jayne is funny, smart, and sometimes blind to what she really wants. Stacy is also smart but sometimes stubborn= but always devoted to his daughter. It was good to watch these two get together. I read this as a standalone and while that wasn't a big problem, I suspected I was missing the back story on some of the characters. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC- I'm going to look for more from Rose. This is a quick read because it's thoroughly entertaining.
I received a free review copy of this book by NetGalley Jayne’s dream is to open another shop for her clients. She is always taking fortune cookies and reading the small notes inside. She is not looking for a forever relationship. Stacey focus is her daughter Cordie and being able to live on their own. He is looking for a forever relationship and some more kids. The book was very boring for me. I struggled to finish it. It was like a diary but with no dates on it. The story was from Jayne’s POV and she related every single thing she did and every single thought she had. I think it would have been better if the story had had some chapters with Stacey’s POV. However, I liked when Jayne and Cordie were together, those parts were really nice. I like Jayne’s friends, how they were united and available to help anyone of them who needed it.
This book is the third in the “” series, but it could be read stand alone. I love this book, the history and the feeling of reality It is a nice novel on the need to overcome difficulties/fears to embrace life in all its beauty and potential. “To be brave” and new opportunities and happiness you will found. I got the book in exchange for an honest review.
Jayne is single and doesn’t believe in relationships due to her father leaving when she was a child and she focuses all her attention on running her boutique and helping her mom at the pub however she does a great group of friends. Stacey is a single dad and he has recently moved to town is now included in her group of friends. He is also her neighbor so he and his daughter become frequent visitors however Stacey is looking for a committed relationship and Jayne isn’t. She decides to help him find someone but where is this jealousy coming from and will she be willing to take a chance on love? This is a humorous story about Jayne coming to the realization that Stacey may be the one that she wants for more than one night. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This is the third book in a series, however, I read it as stand alone, since I have not yet read the earlier books. This would explain why all the peripheral characters were not physically described and it took me a while to figure out who was who and what their relationships were. Jayne and her mother were abandoned by her father, in England, but her mother met a wonderful American man and they moved with her cousin, Pippin to Dayton Beach Florida, where they opened a pub. Because of that experience and influenced by her mother, Jayne has no time or belief in relationships. She is too busy building her boutique and helping out at the pub. But she does have a delightful group of friends, who try to fix her up. One of the men actually moves across the street from her with his daughter and share a mutual attraction, but Jayne is too scare to see it through. Watch Jayne learn through the ups and down of her life, what is really important in life.
I received this book as a ARC from the author for an honest review. I enjoyed the read and intend to go back and read the previous two books. My only criticism is I like a full physical description of characters when they are introduced into the book so I can picture them in my mind when I read, I didn't get that here. But perhaps they are there and since I was reading on a Kindle instead of a real book, I might have missed them.
An enjoyable and humourous story. The humour carries through the book not just a scene or two. The characters were likeable and well developed, and the relationship developed at a reasonable pace. *I voluntarily leave an honest review of an ARC*
This is my first read from kristi rose but defiitly not my last. The characters are well-developed and the entaining story is in the right pace.
The book contains Jayne as the tuff heroine and the sexy single Dad Stacy, deep emotions, humor, troubled characters and incredible chemistry, which makes it a beautyful love story.
So go ahead, buy this book and bring passion in Your life.
