Opposite attract, but can they last? Following a head injury, Colonel Henry Fitzwilliam is being forced from the military. Angry, Henry finds laughter and comfort with Mary Bennet. Hurt and disappointed too many times, Mary hides behind a know-it-all persona. She’s surprised Henry sees through her facade, no one ever has. They forge a friendship that sparks an ember of something more. But they’re from different worlds and their lives are going in different directions. Getting attached would mean one more heartache for each of them, and neither have the stamina to heal one more wound. Slightly tolerable to… Marriage? Liking William Darcy is not easy, especially as Elizabeth believes he’s single-handedly tried to dismantle her matchmaker company and demolished her sister, Jane’s hope at finding love. And then there’s the way Darcy treats others who aren’t part of his billionaire’s club. So when he proposes marriage while saying he thinks a union between them is a bad idea, Elizabeth wants nothing more than for William Darcy to just go away. And never come back.

Hey! I’m Kristi. I write romances that will tug your heartstrings and laugh out loud mysteries. In all my stories you’ll fall in love with the cast of characters, they’ll become old, fun friends. My one hope is that I create stories that satisfy any of your book cravings and take you away from the rut of everyday life (sometimes it's a good rut).
When I’m not writing I’m spinning (riding a stationary bike, repurposing Happy Planners, or drinking a London Fog (hot tea with frothy milk).
I’m the mom of 2 and a milspouse (retired). We live in the Pacific Northwest and are under-prepared if one of the volcanoes erupts. Here are 3 things about me: • I lived on the outskirts of an active volcano (Mt.Etna) • A spider bit me and it laid eggs in my arm (my kids don’t know that story yet) • I grew up in Central Florida and have skied in lakes with gators.

Book 2 in the Meryton Matchmakers series. [Book 1: Lottie Pursues Bill: 4-stars], [Matchmaker’s Guide: Meryton Matchmaker’s Confidential Client Questionnaire: 3-stars]
“A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.” Emo Philips
Modernization has reached the Meryton Matchmaking business. Lizzy is not happy with that notion. She likes to do things the old fashion way. They had taken on a financial backer [Lady Catherine] and she bailed on them and wanted them to buy her out. It took the whole book to work out a solution that wouldn’t sink their boat and force them to close. It was a tough fight.
Lizzy was just beginning to warm up to Darcy… much like an iceberg does due to global warming. Large chunks of her anger and disdain had started to thaw a bit. Then the business with Jane and Bingley, then Wickham’s lies and the deep freeze was back on.
What I liked: I really liked the page time with Mary and our dear Colonel. Oh, my, the chemistry was off the chart. It was spine tingling. I am surprised there wasn’t a meltdown on my device. Whew! It was clean but steamy. No worries, Mary was not about to jeopardize her principles. I just love them together. The religious influence was not offensive… it was vague, but delved into what motivated Mary.
What I didn’t like: For one… we didn’t have enough of Mary and our dear Colonel. The story followed canon with Darcy’s interfering with Jane and Bingley and Lizzy finding out about it and blasting Darcy. Add to the mix, the lies from Wickham [slime-bag], Darcy giving her an impulsive proposal, and she… blasting him out of the sky in a blaze of flames. The next day he gave her the letter to explain his dealings with Wickham. Poor Darcy, he was so tongue tied where she was concerned.
So, we are left with a cliff hanger. Will Jane and Bingley get back together? What does Lizzy think of Darcy’s letter regarding his dealings with Wickham? What about Mary and the Colonel? There were hints about Kitty and someone… and I really like that connection. The book ended with a two-chapter excerpt for the next book. That title deals with Lydia and Wickham… oh, goodness. I cannot imagine those two together. There is a whole lot to be pulled together. This next book should be chuck full of stuff to wrap up and settle.
A modern sequel to P&P where the story of the Bennet business Meryton Matchmakers continues. But what of the people. Will the elder Bennet sisters ever understand their hearts. But what about Darcy and Charles. Having just met, Mary Bennet and the Colonel, are unsure about their relationship or what it even is, can they possible have a happy ending. I enjoyed this modern variation of Pride and Prejudice, and as it contains the story of my favourite couple in JAFF makes it even better. Another enjoyable re-read

The plot is getting more interesting and entertaining. I really loved the interaction between Mary and Henry and how they are grasping the chance of getting to know more about each other. I like the way the story is adapting the happenings of the original one to the modern day.
I loved the continuing story line! Mary and Henry are both struggling with expectations and images. But they see behind it all for the other. Mary's tattoo unveiling is hilarious. I need the rest of the series now! I must know what happens too every one else!
