Brent Tanner, first of the children born after the end of the world was on patrol in what used to be known as southern Oregon when someone tried to kill him for no reason. A pretty female type someone.

Hanna had escaped a past filled with terrors and a future filled with slavery. The only thing she knew in this life was that no one could be trusted. Especially men. When she is captured by Brent after trying to kill him, she knows her life is over. Any chance of freedom is gone forever.

Surprisingly, Brent turned out to be the kind of man willing to help, not hurt. Working together they will attempt to save the people she left behind. And maybe Hanna can learn what civilization can be.

Brent Saves The Day & The Dames!

I think this may be my favorite of all Nate Johnson books. I’ve gotten used to the poor grammar, editing and spelling check that any AI program could do instantly. I recognize his lack of sentence structure is his writing style. It doesn’t make it correct but it wasn’t as glaring in this book as the others. My biggest “UGH” moment was a capital letter in the middle of a sentence!
But ignoring the grammar issues, this book showed depth, true feelings and often indecision that people have even if they are the hero of the story! I almost cried when the little sister hollered, “Daddy!”
Thank you Nate for continuing to perfect your craft! You do have great plot ideas!

For those who never read this author, his stories are squeaky clean. No swearing, no sex and the main characters are always teens.
It’s refreshing to read something so wholesome, but I wish he would pick more adult characters for the main parts of the story. Awkward immature moments are not all that interesting to read about.
This story was mostly good, but not killing the escaped murders and rapists right from the start just wasted time and put the whole community at risk.
Okay for a mostly light survival story.

Loved it!

This story takes us into the future with the first son of Nick who rescues and falls for the girl he saves. Always there is a similar theme, and always a dog. Always a heroic man and a beautiful girl. Always sexual tension between them that the two misunderstand.
I advise this author to get an editor. Have someone who has a decent command of the language to read these books. The spelling and grammar errors will be obvious. The stories are unputdownable so just clean up the spelling and grammar errors. Ok, one more to go.

Fresh look at dystopian future.

I loved the first 5 books. Really great storytelling. Very likable characters. But I don't understand how your editor , Mr. Johnson, could do side a discredit to your books. Spelling, and things like using the wrong persons name , that the sentence is describing.
Your stories are amazing, Mr. Johnson but you need a new editor.
I look forward to reading more of your work.

Same plot + 18 years

Same basic plot as its predecessors. Boy meets girl. Girl tries to kill boy. He ends up being the hero saving the damsel in distress and a few others. He and the girl go back and forth, and after a final battle for survival, he kills all the bad men trying to take the maiden he loves because their is a serious gender imbalance. After that, they get married and of course have a boy because that's what heroic men do.

I did really enjoy this! Everything just really pleased me! The selections of characters, which were well thought out & well written. The storyline is a typical YA dystopian romance but really well done. I became really involved in the story really quickly & absolutely flew through to the end! I will look for more by this writer! I do recommend!

This is a good young peoples book. The characters are well developed. The post apocalyptic world is very believable as are the characters. The books are desperately in need of proofreading.

Good young adult novel

I'm not a young adult but I really like this book. It is a very sweet romance. However, the many misspelled words were kind of annoying. I've noticed this in all his books. No editor?
