Ruslan and his battle-hardened squad the Steel Spiders have endured the harshest trials, and yet the storm raging around them is far from over.
Sent on a near-impossible mission, Rusty defies insurmountable odds, dragging not only his squad but also their fellow soldiers out from the jaws of death.
Surrounded by adversaries at every turn, the Steel Spiders discover the true essence of camaraderie. Uniting forces with the indomitable Black Bears and the top dogs of the skies the Angry Rhinos, is their only way to glory.
As tensions escalate from all directions – the wilderness, inside the city's walls, and the treacherous ocean front – every individual must rise to the occasion; otherwise, the city of Artem will finally fall.
Dawn Chapman has been creating sci-fi and fantasy stories for thirty years. In 2005, her life and attention turned to scripts, and she started work on The Secret King (TSK), a 13-episode science fiction television series, with great passion for this medium.
In 2010, Dawn returned to her first love of prose. She has been working with Coach EJ Runyon, who has encouraged her away from fast-paced script writing, to revel in the world of TSK and Letháo as an epic prose space journey.
This year, her experience of working with producers/directors from the United States and Australia has expanded. From drama and science fiction to action, Dawn has built a portfolio of writing, consulting, and publishing.
The monsters outside the walls of Artem are growing restless. Rus and his crew are reunited with the Black Bear squad and the veteran Angry Rhinos to help quell these forces before the city can be overwhelmed. Sometimes though, the most dangerous monsters are the people inside the walls.
This is a powerful series. The mix of technological implants and helicopter mastery make Rus and his team who they are. There are many tense and heavy moments in the story with a few softer moments to even it out. I’m really looking forward to the next book! Neil Thorne and Stephanie Nemeth-Parker do a great job with a duel narration!
This the 2nd in the Pilots of Artem is even better than the first, and showcases an even bigger scope in the overall Artem world than the other author offerings. With so many other events working in tandem, the threat against Artem is epic in proportions and gives a great depth of involvement by the reader. Now the biggest problem is getting a 3rd book from Chapman so hopefully a massive surge of great reviews help this.
I absolutely love this series so much. It's brilliantly written, very detailed, witty, and immensely thrilling. I deliberately took my time listening to this one because I wanted to savor each moment of the story. I laughed, cried, got my heart broken into million pieces, was so giddy at all the "kilig" moments, and utterly loathed the villain. (Yep, I'm looking at you, Benjamin!)
Neill Thorne and Stephanie Németh-Parker were totally amazing. Their performance was perfection. Well done!
